I have a Samsung galaxy s on CM 11 nightly, everything has been fine with my ROM but today my battery seems to be acting weird. I'm connected by charger and my phones running fine but my battery won't budge from 0%. I've turned off the phone and plugged the charger in and it stays at 0% then the phone goes off. When I try to turn the phone on without the charger plugged in it doesn't come on. Somebody help me please?

Did your battery run-out flat/zero before this problem started? How long have you been using your battery? It could be just a coincidence that it dies after you've flash a new ROM. The only way I could think of to troubleshoot your problem is by borrowing a working battery and test it with your phone, also test your battery with other working phone and to totally isolate the problem you should also try other working charger. The hard part is finding someone with a perfectly working GT-i9000 phone, battery and charger to borrow to begin with...
I have tried another charger, my phone did die but still has to be connected to boot. I can get a new battery from eBay for a really decent price so I'll get hold of one of them. My battery is pretty old as it's from 2010

Last night when I went to bed, the last thing I did was to check if my alarm was set, which is was. The phone was in no weird condition, working as it was supposed to. I left the phone with the charger plugged in over the night.
Then I woke up this morning and couldnt get the screen on. First I just thought it was a SOD, so I removed the battery and tried to reboot it.. but nothing. Phone wont boot neither normally, in recovery or in download mode. Even when I connect the charger there is no activity on the screen, completely dead.
What could have happend? As I said the phone worked just fine last night and noone has touched it over night.
I was running paranoid android 0.3, with the kernel that is delivered with the ROM.
Any toughts? I have ordered a JIG from ebay, and im gonna try and see tomorrow if my friends JIG will work on the note, his JIG is for Galaxy SII.
Any reaction when connection it to a pc?
Or do you have a friend with a Note? Maybe you could try with another battery. I would do that.
/CK
No reaction to a PC, will try with another battery this weekend when I see my brother who also has a Note.
Seems weird tho that the battery would just die like that?
If I don't remember wrong, it's not a good idea to let the battery run dry depending on what rom you use. If it runs dry you cannot turn on the phone and the phone won't react to charger.
I would try with your brothers battery and see if there's any reaction. Or do you have a charger to directly charge the battery?
/CK
The battery was on 10% when I went to bed, with the charger plugged in.
How do you charge the battery directly? I could check at work tomorrow with a voltmeter and see if the battery is drained or not.
I checked my battery at work today with a voltmeter to see if it had any juice in it, turned out to be completely dead. 0 voltage.

Hey. I just had this issue today. I thought my phone got bricked without doing anything. I was using it then 10 mins later it won't respond when i took it out of my pocket..
I had about 80% battery when it died this morning. I tried to boot it to recovery or download mode but nothing....
I finally tried using my bro-inlaw's battery but still nothing...
I blew my battery contacts and pins... Removed the sim and sdcard then placed battery back.
Tried turning it on normally... It did! My battery was at 59% when it finally turned on..
I'm on PA v0.4 with white gnote unit.
I think it may have been the unit acting up, not the rom.
Any thoughts?

I checked with my brothers battery yesterday and the phone started without problems, also plugged in a charger and it was charging as it should.
Must have been my old battery that just went dead?

it could be the cause with your phone, but for me, no, because i'm still using the same original battery that came with the phone. and it's working without issues now.
However, I did a clean install of PAv.4 after it started working again just in case.
Weirdest thing happend, I tried to charge the phone again last night and all the sudden it worked.
So now I have two new batteries traveling to me from China that I no longer need
Hey guys,
I connected my phone to my PC over night for charging as always but when I got up and took my phone it only had 4% battery! It's like the battery just wiped itself from a moment to the other. And now when I try to charge it again the light shows it charges but when I turn on my phone after 30min the battery didn't charge at all... Did anyone experience this before? Do I have to buy a new battery?
Sounds like your battery is shot. So you may need a different battery.
Try different cables etc but if that doesn't work you need a New battery.

Tried a few cables. Weird thing though: In recovery it says 32% and when I boot it up now it says 9% but doesn't really change. Seems like the battery is screwed up... Could it be that the Desire HD has got the exact same battery? Because if it's so I could try with the battery from my dad's DHD...
EDIT: Ok, it's not the same This is gonna be expensive...
EDIT2: So I got my new battery but the phone still drains too fast imo and I can't really charge the battery to 100%... Is sth wrong with the USB-port??

This might help.
Let your battery drain completely and let your cell get switched off.
And then in switched off state, charge your phone completely.
Switch it on...Use your cell as you do it regularly.
Repeat this procedure 3-4 times.
You will be surely benefitted.
did you try plugging into the wall? different USB port?
I had similar issue awhile back that it didn't want to charge with USB but with the AC adapter it worked fine. Also noticed it wouldn't work with USB at all I sent it in for repair and it was apparently USB port broken. Then I had to send it in again because when they fixed usb they broke mainboard
p.s omg I hate captcha tried posting this 10 times ...
Looks like I forgot to post So here is what happened: I got a new battery but even that I couldn't charge with USB. Than I pulled out my AC adapter and it works fine now. Looks like my USB Port is shot but since it still works and just won't charge my phone, I'll ignore that. But my old battery was surely shot because I couldn't even charge it with AC adapter...
Sorry if this seems a little late. It could be the roms fault you are getting strange readings. When I use ice cold and reboot my phone, the battery percentage reading changes like crazy. Sometimes the reboot makes the reading go up, and sometimes down.
USB port breaking is a common fault on inc s, though, so it could be that also, as you have said.
I tried ar least 5 different ROMs so I'm pretty sure that's not it That was also the first thing that came into my mind;D
Have u checked the charger plug cos if its that stupid black charger that comes with the phone they can play up my old one does this and I have to twist it slightly for the pins to touch try a apple charger or another USB charger

When I charge my phone it reaches 99% and it remains there it never reaches a 100% charge.
And my led notification is always red never goes green.
Did anybody else notice this?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Maybe you are using 3rd party application like Battery Motifier in which the settings of battery full is only set to 99%. I am using this application for charging my phone then this app notifies me once it was fully charge using a sound notification. Try to check your applications installed to your phone maube you have same kind of application or the likes... hopefully it helps

Haven't installed anything out of the ordinary that would cause this.
Now I'm worried.

I know for some Samsung devices they don't charge all they way. It is a measure used to save the battery

My one did this but it was because I was using a Samsung charger (don't want to open charger or headphones in case of resale) so I tried my HTC one X charger and it went back to100%.

I had to get an exchange for my first handset. It had major gaps, and battery never fully charged.
It seems it was due to a dodgy battery. Even if the phone was left on charge for 10 hours it still wouldn't fully charge, turned on or off.
If it gets really hot while trying to charge after 98% it may be the same thing, and you should possibly ask for an exchange, or get it checked out.

How do you know the battery is at fault?
Sent from a pizza..
Why not let the phone discharge until it shuts off, then try to completely charge it from empty. I had an atrix once that would only charge to 99 after most Rom installs until I did this. Always figured it was a battery calibration thing.
Interesting fact, Lithium-ion polymer batteries do not charge to 100% capacity by design. They are actually quite difficult to charge correctly (in the electrical engineering sense, it's still plug and charge for the end user) and it is not worth the additional hassle to get to a "true" full charge. What the phone reports as 100% is only 2-3% off of the theoretical max capacity so in practice the difference is not noticeable.
It's hard to say if this effect is whats responsible for what you're seeing, but it could be related. Another possibility is that you simply haven't let it trickle charge long enough to report 100%. The last few % charge of any phone battery is going to go at a much slower rate compared to 20-90% for example. Really the only thing you can do is the somewhat standard advice to get a full discharge/charge cycle in to let android re-calibrate itself.
this is normal, it eventually does it,m dont worry about it
sometimes if i use the phone whilst its on charge it turns green
im not bothered, 99% is good enough for me it trickles down at the end really slowly
even 95% is good enough i usually unplug it at 95
I had the same thing when I got my phone, I was using a cheapo micro usb charger that did not have the beans to charge the one.. it got to 99% always.
Switched to proper one with phone and voila green light & 100%
For the record an iPad 3 (aka "new" iPad) charger works if you swap the USB cable also.
I am using the charger that came with the phone, and it has been an hour on 99%, any advice? To the ones who reached the 100% mark, how long did you leave it at 99%?
Happened to me too, with stock charger.
Finally got it to completely charge. I let it discharge to 2 percent than charged it with the touchpad charger. Most probably the first step isn't required. The charger outputs 2A. Will try other chargers including pc usb..

Let me know how it works ok... Seems like maybe its a stock charger issue...or maybe i just need to let it discharge to less than 2% most i ever let it down to was 9%...keep me updated please...
i had that problem on my s2 with some custom roms. it would charge to 100% if i unplugged it rebooted and plugged it back in. also it went away after 1 or 2 battery cycles
Reboot device when at 98/99%, then it will show 100% for some reason.

You may try with a new battery, and remember to don't try flashing anything with low battery, it can brick your Note.
Galaxy Note batteries are well known for their poor lifetime.
well take a charged battery and try it again. And DO NOT flash anything when on low battery. Also check if the charger plugs are properly inserted in the socket and the USB contact terminal is properly connected.
Usb port problem. Better replace it..

My battery got drained to about 4% this afternoon and when I got home I started charging my phone but now it doesn't boot anymore, connected to AC or no. It doesn't even show it's charging.
This is a new battery, not even 6 mo old. Anything I can do?
keep it connected to the charger in off condition for a couple of hours and try again... if still no go then try a working battery from another note
It's been connected to the charger for at least 8 hours now... Still it doesn't charge and it doesn't boot.
Is it a stock battery or a cheapo one?

It wasn't cheap and by the looks of it it's an original one, not the one that came with the phone, but identical in all respects.
This helped, now the phone is charging.
