extend battery life with cyanogenmod - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi.
i have been using cyanogenmod 7.2 with my ace but the battery life sucks, is there anything i can do to improve this? i'm already using setcpu but is there any kernel that can improve the battery? or should i just simply change rom's

FireKernel without overclocking option, but it will not change much. CM7 is just like that.

i tried a different rom but was getting a lot of force closes so i did a fresh install of cyanogenmod and installed FireKernel and now is much better.
is there anyway to re-calibrate the battery so i have an accurate status reading?

Most battery efficient version of Cyanogenmod

I've come to find that Cyanogenmod isn't very battery efficient but are there any roms based upon that can compare with a rom based on stock, like Zeus or Marvel? Thanks
I have used nearly all of the CM7 releases from idk, i guess end of february to date except for the last nightlies and the best battery/performance ratio was acheived in (don't know if I can post the link, so I won't, I don't want to spoil it lol)
update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-p970-signed.zip
I got the best battery runtimes ever in CM7 in previous and older bulds from late february but they are not available for download anymore and I don't even remember the build name nor date lol
I suggest you change to Zeus V6.39n and UNDERSTAND that rom, or(zeus) 4.0 ROM or 6.30-6.31-6.32 where not so much tweaking was available.
Hope I helped! (sry for bad english, im learning..)
I use temaseks build with huexxx kernel 4.0 (with mod). the battery is great. in the night, in deep sleep, it is about 1% / 2 hours

Mmm by understanding the rom I mean that as far as I've expirienced from Zeus ROM v6.37 i think and onwards the battery tweaks which include CPU frequences and gorvernors, I/O schedulers, WIFI tx power, voltage tweaking (undervolting), overclocking and so on [I'm still learning about all this ]. The v6.39 zeus rom gives you more or less 21-27hs of battery (at least for me depending on the type of usage). Since I've started tweaking, I've already managed a minimum of 23h 50 mins and a maximum of 32hs runtime, so it gets better the further you know. MAYBE IM NOT RIGHT LOL
I think using the boype kang and heuxxx kernel
But with zeus people got up to 7 days
I use a lot so i have about a day of battery life

Yeah, I've been wondering that too, I couldn't find it when I searched the forums
Also, this thread is about the most battery efficient Cyanogenmod, not Kernels for Zeus so I think we're getting a little off topic.

From ICS to JB - any advantages?

I was just wondering what the experience has been for people who switched from ICS to JB. Are there any advantages in terms of battery life, stability and/or performance?
Thanks in advance.
Better Performance (Projekt Butter)
New Statusbar
"Google Now"
Google Voice is now offline usable I think.
There're more changes but I don't know exactly

I'm using TAJB rom from last 1 month, it is daily driver with very minor issues and 100% faster smoother than any ICS rom.
I can say JB is real matured OS of android.
For example, Max Payne game
On ICS it strucks very much, and need to wait almost 5 mins to load the game. I know saving the game also an issue.
On JB, it is smoother and loading became very faster and never strucked. i tried very hard to struck it intentionally but failed every time.
Regards,
Praveen.

I understood that there is a better performance, but is there stability for every day use and not only? I mean, is there an JB ROM with the perfect stability of a stock ROM for SGS?

There is no perfectly stable JB roms atm as they are all still in alpha/beta.
Elite's recent beta 9 is apparently a very good improvement over beta 8, some are even claiming that it's currently better than his very good ICS rom.

What do you believe, could JB get more improved for SGS than ICS? I mean, all of the ICS rom's that the developer said that are stable, failed at some point. Every ICS ROM that I had on my phone, had a critical point in time where all of the apps and system apps had permanent FCs so I'm looking in the close future for a ROM that it isn't stable for an "determined" period of time... I know that it's not necessarily to get better stability while having better performance, but I hope that there is a better chance in improving our SGSs with JB.

The FCs you got is probably because your /datadata partition got full. Install the Datafix app from the Play Store and clear your cache every now and and it shouldn't happen again.
I've used Elite's ICS rom since beta 10.1 and it's been stable as a rock for me. I'm sure his JB rom is just as good.
Hey guys, I am still using an odexed version of GB, it is very fast and stable but does the memory improve in ICS or JB, the problem with the sgs as you know is the memory I just want to know if ICS or JB use less memory then GB.
do you recommend to change?
For me battery life was a bit better on JB, depends really on the kernal you use though,
with performance, depends on the ROM you are using, for example i found that some roms where slow, and had poor battery life, while others were extremely fast and had good battery life.
Im currently using X-bean 1.0 and i am very happy with it

Hmmm...
I tried several JB roms and in my feelings JB boot much longer, maybe something is wrong with my phone ? :crying:
The current best one is X-Bean. I've tried all of them and X-Bean is by far the most usable rom that is available currently, with SlimBean + DevilKernal combo coming in second.

In my experience, boot times vary from rom to rom even within the same android version, with lighter roms having shorter boot times.
Same here, I'm using X-Bean and since now the fastest and most stable JB ROM (I used all JB's on XDA). I'm using Devils kernel and in normal usage - 1,5 day. Best battery of course on GB, but this is a small cost for performance

phone is getting slower

Hi guys. I'm using cm mods for like 2 years. But it seems that it's getting slower and slower. I guess the new apps need more ram or something. Is there any way I can make my i9000 faster? Should I go back to gingerbread? Or any rom you can suggest for faster use?
It's really annoying to use the phone lately. Always lag.

For my phone helped me wipe cache/dalvik cache/fix permissions and factory reset... After these wipes my rom runs fast and smooth but after 2-3 months I need to do it again because the phone getting slower again Try it if you want I hope this can help you
I just use CM7.2 stable and no lag plus I can use chainfire3D in some games which gives them an extra boost... not sure if chainfire3D is compatible with any other version
I am using GamerzROM and the Fly-On Script and I can tell that it's super smooth. I also ticked GPU Rendering in Developer options, it seems to me that it makes scrolling so much smoother and basically everything is working fast.
Thanks for recommends. I installed gamerzrom and it's really good. I mean it's like i bought a new phone. I hope it won't do lag again after a week or so. If it will, then I'll try to add fly-on script I guess.
What is the difference between gamerzrom and CM???

[Q] what is the best custom rom for xperia z?

hey guys...!!! Recently i tried cyanogen mod 10.1.2..!!! I was not much happy with it because it dint have any apps..but maybe after adding apps...it may work nicely..!!!
However I'm really confused to what custom ROM to use???
I know that I should not ask this question...however if anyone can guide me with the best rom to use which has really nice battery improvement, system tweaks, performance and sound quality...!!!
I am not asking this to insult any other custom rom builders...!! I need to know what is the best for my xperia z..!!! so just asking this..!!!
There is no best rom. Try them for yourself and use the one that is best for you.

It depends on the piece of string I believe.
I run stock with DoomKernal & a few Xposed Modules. Or Cyanogenmod / AOKP. But with anything but stock you run the risk of something not working correctly. It depends on the string like I said.

Playing around with voltages etc. in the Kernel, screen brightness, unused services results in pretty good battery times. For best battery results it's best to stay stock. Cyanogen and AOKP are not great on battery at the moment (from what i've read)

I haven't kept up with the cappy's dev but NeatKernel seems popular. Check its features and see if it fits your needs (that goes for ROM as well).
Maybe flashing twice does the trick

No I didn't care for cm10. If I didn't see any improvement with the latest milestone I was going to go back to the gingerbread kernel and cm7. I would expect there to be more battery consumption with KitKat then gingerbread due to the mere work load on the processor. But its running more conservative than my dual core phone with ICS ever did even with this amoled screen.
The second flash of cm11 fixed my issues. From CWM recovery I first wiped the cash, installed the cm11 zip file on the SD, then wiped dalvik cache. After up and running I did remove some Google Apps that suck battery and bandwidth like Chrome and Google Play sound recorder (which seems to be running all the time searching for music or something).
