Is there a way to create alerts for gmail labels?
How come android doesn't have a feature to close an app instead of us wandering if its still running when we hit home key?

Answer to question 2: Use a task manager to end the app.

Answer to question 1.... If you can set alerts in Gmail on your computer, all the settings should be available to you on your device.
I just got a new HTC One a couple of weeks ago, after a HTC Desire.
I rooted it, and installed Cyanogenmod 10.2.
After I installed Google Voice, the stock messaging app does not send text messages any longer. It just says, "message not sent". So I'm having to use Voice for texting, which is not always what I want to do.
I know it's somewhere in the settings, but I do not see any way to get to the settings for Google Voice on my phone.
Suggestions?

Go to Google Voice app, click "Settings", click "Sync and Notifications", click "Receive Text Messages", choose "Via the messaging app".
I'm assuming you're on Sprint because you've probably integrated GV with your number.

I'm on AT&T.
The problem I have is that I don't know how to get to the Google Voice settings on my HTC One phone. There's no menu button like on my old phone.

Did you use a mod to remove the "3 dot overflow menu button"? If so, you'll need some mod to map the menu button to HTC logo and then click settings once you click menu.

Not intentionally... running Cyanogenmod 10.2 by Lord Clockan, no other mods that I know of. Maybe I should go back to the official 10.2 release?

How do you use the "menu button" for other apps? haha
Two quick solutions I can think of off the top of my mind. (1) uninstall the GV app and see if it works. (2) Go to GV site and click the settings icon in the top right and play around with the settings. It may be the "Receive text messages on this phone" option you have to tick.
When you text from GV, does it send using your google voice number or your phone number?

That's actually a good question. In most of the apps, there is a 3 dot button you can press to get into the settings... but NOT for Google Voice.
I uninstalled GV and messaging does work, so it's something in GV. I will play around with the GV settings and see what I can figure out.
Thanks for your help....

Checking or unchecking the "receive text messages" box in GV settings doesn't seem to make any difference.
But when I uninstall GV, the regular messaging app works. When GV is installed, it doesn't.
Gotta be something I've messed up somewhere....

No, for now a reply with s-voice is only possible with the default message app.

I replaced the the stock people, dialer, & messaging programs with Dialer+, Contacts+, & Messages +. All primarily because the dialer opens to the quick dial screen which auto-populates with frequent and recent callers rather than what I want.
