Red Light blink after charge? And battery connecting and disconnecting - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem (yeah, i get out of the camera problem and enter another) I always leave my phone charging in the nigh, yesterday, I unplug the phone as usual, and I saw that the red led indicator was blinking, and i see the battery Icon it was changing, like it was connecting and disconnecting the charger. The problem stops, but when I charge the phone, it comes back for a while, sometimes a Second, sometimes a minute. I try 2 charger and still the problem, with usb too, I factory reset and still. Any advice?
A fear another hardware problem because I am outside of USA. I was using a charger with less Am from the original because my usb cable was damage. BUt today I found a samsung cable and use the original Charger and still the problem. I see that the original charger has 1A, and the other I was using is 700mA.
EDIT: After watching the problem, I can say this.
First, the phone has a problem that the charge cant get 100%, when reach 92%, , Its Jump to 100%.
Second and worst problem, is that the phone present the red blinking light and show like disconnecting and connecting the charge when I put the phone to charge long period of time, or reach por tan 90%. And is not the usb port, because i disconnect the ac adapter first, and still the problem. And even if the phone is off, it show the problem.
So, i read about calibrate the battery, so, i did, the first time, i drain completly the battery, and charge until get the green light. I power up the phone, and still the same, 92% and the phone showing that is connecting and disconnecting.
Today i try again, but more time, i connect the phone at 8:30 AM, and disconnectit at 2 pm (I take a nap at 11 am so xD thats why I disconnect it at 2 pm) I Turn on the phone, and the first problem was solved, the battery was 99%. BUT the problem of disconnecting and connecting is still there, its stops when the phone goes to 96%, always stop after the battery drain about 3%-5% dont know why. I dont have more Ideas, and right now, I cant send it to HTC. Any idea? :/

That means your phone is getting hot

So, thats normal? Even if the battery Icon says connecting and disconnecting, even when i turn it off? I really fear something bad, today the problem is not present. But i fear charge my phone overnight now

Oh didn't see the part about battery icon showing connecting disconnecting have you tried with a different cable sounds like the cable or your phones usb port is going bad
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

Yes, I try another cable, the weird thing is that I disconnect the charge from the wall (no the part from myphone) and show the problem, so not sure if is the port or something, I'm using again the original charger base, and a usb cable that a friend gave to me. Today the problem isnt back, but I fear chargirng overnight or something, because not sure if the problem will be back or not. Or using my stock base for charge the phone fix it :/

stock charger base is probably the best one to use

the base is more important Than the cable right? I mean,a bad base can damage my phone and a bad quality cable not? I will watch this week if the problem is gone, I hope that was the problem and nothing worse. If happen again i will ask here again if someone have an idea or the same problem.
THanks for your time
Edit: problem back, this time i watch how the problem present. It seem that the problem comes when I want to charge the phone full.
It was 92%, and the next second, was 100% and green light. I disconnect, and show again 92% and start blinking. I connect again and start chargin, but again, 100%, green light and when i disconnect it was 94%. Is weird. Dont know how to fix, I hope is software, any idea?
I will try to calibrate battery, so, i must discharge to 0% right? I must turn off the fastboot option? (I have in spanish, is "Inicio Rapido", I think that is for never shut down completly the phone), then charge to 100% off right?

Somebody any Idea? I discharge my phone, then charge until it get the green light, and the problem persist

Guys, still the problem, if someone know any tool to check hardware can tell me the name? I dont have any Idea of what can I do with my problem. :/ sorry for double post but I cant found any solution yet

Hi again, if someone can help, I still have the problem, but after the third charge cicle (I discharge completly and charge again 4th times now) The problem is less worse, I mean, before, the problem only stop when a 3% of battery was drain, even if I restart the phone. Now, if I restart the phone, the problem stops inmediatly. So, I dont know if dischargin and chargin again will be good, because I read that can damage the phone.
Any Idea? :/ I cant send it to warranty so i dont know what to do
Again the problem persist after a restart. DOnt know why but only happen in a charge more than 90%

I'm problem charging.
My HTC ONE only charges powered off.
Look the video of the problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6NSCccjWkE
I tried the trick of the light (Hold VOL UP + Vol Down + Power button + sensor for front light) fixed, but the problem came up again, and now anything I do it back.
It seems a problem with OTG.
My car charger has an LED indication when the load is connected in the car.
When I connect the HTC, and disconnect the car, the charger light is lit.
The HTC instead of receiving cargo load is sending.
Not meeting solution

I will try, I'm waiting official kitkat to see if that fix, dont know if doing a clean RUU is better than a factory restore. I cant send towarranty right now
I dont understand the video (and sorry, it was along time and i wasnt able to read here.) Can you explain me better? My problem is still there. I want to try the video, but dont know what they do exactly. I have official 4.3 from ATT
PD: I think that my problem is overcharging o something like that. I already calibrate the battery 5 times, but, for example, right now, it waslike 80%, show the problems. I try what theydo in the video, but, never understand. And I have an idea about connecting like that (while off) And th ephone say 90%!!!!, so, maybe the problem is for that? Any idea? I dont understhand the video because is not too clear

The video I made is to present the problem.
My HTC ONE only charges powered off.
The charger only goes up to 93%. No matter what time I leave plugged into the charger.
Have managed to solve the holding (VOL Down + Power) buttons and pointing the light sensor to strong light (light bulb). Hold for 15 seconds.
Solved, but the problem returned after 1 week
My ROM CUSTOM is ViperOne KitKat.

And, what exactly do this process? My problem is that light blinking when i discconnect my phone, it like connecting and disconnecting, but stops after drain baout 5%. So, i think is something about software or th ebattery is receiving a mistake info about the charging level.

My problem persist. Or I did wrong the procedure :/ My last hope is kitkat xd

Urgent help about the battery

I posted this question before, but no one answered. But this problem drives me crazy!
My Kaiser turned off when the battery was running out.
When I connect wall power to charge it, the orange LED indicates it was charging, but just few seconds later it automatically boot, and the orange LED was off.
The problem is, it can't boot into OS due to low battery(it only shows "Smart Mobility", but can't even enter bootloader mode) And only if it boots into OS successfully, it can be charged.
Anyone met this problem on any other devices before?
How can I stop auto boot when charging?
What can I do?
That must be something specific to the rom on yours... mine does not automatically boot when when power is applied (assuming it is off, not just in sleep mode), and it charges fine when powered off.

Thanks
I use the ROM from this forum
RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship
What is yours?
I'm just using the stock AT&T Tilt rom.
Here's the fix!
Yes, I've had the same problem a few times on my Vario (Wizard). Very annoying.
Here's what to do:
- Take a mini-usb cable (the one you use for sync and charging from a PC) and cut off the mini-USB connector
- Strip the wires
- Take the battery out of your TyTN
- Carefully connect the ground wire (black) with the ground connector (-) on the battery. Fix it with clear tape.
- Now do the same with the (+) (red wire).
- Attach the USB cable to a running PC and let the battery charge for about an hour. After that, put it back in your phone, you'll be able to boot it up and charge it the regular way.
Yes, it costs you a cable, but it solves the problem.

I think you misunderstood. The problem is that the phone only charges when the OS has loaded completely. So if you really run your battery out completely and there is not enough power in your battery to boot up the phone (read: it turns off again before the boot has completed) you won't be able to charge it the regular way. SOMETIMES a heavier charger (2A) does seem to be able to charge the battery even with the OS shut down, but most of the times it won't work anymore... see below for fix.

That's not how I read the original post:

Based on this, it sounds like it is starting to charge without the phone booted (orange LED on), but for some reason it then automatically boots up, then crashes because there's not enough power(??)
But if the problem IS that the phone only charges when the OS has loaded, that is also not how my phone operates. In fact, that even goes against the manual, which tells you to plug the phone in (without turning on the phone) and let it charge fully for the initial charge before turning on the phone and allowing it to boot.
Sorry if I misunderstand, but neither way is how my phone operates... it can charge without the OS loaded, and the phone does not automatically boot once power is applied.
Not sure I fully understand what's going on here but, I am wondering if the power on/off button is stuck in (i.e the micro-switch is clicked in and not releasing). I cannot think of any other reason the device would turn on when connecting the charger if the device is powered completely off. ( Except perhaps shorted connections in the Usb port)
Mike
To SteRo:
Thx a lot for the solution, I tried, but still doesn't work.(I charge it more than 2 hours, and still can't boot into OS)
To mikechannon:
yes, it happened. :-( the power on/off button is NOT stucked. And the device is powered off completely.
To All:
Thx for your reply. What I mean is almost what dscline said:
It starts to charge without the phone booted (orange LED on), but for some reason it then automatically boots up(around 15 sec after I plugin power), meanwhile orange LED is off. But it can't load into OS, just re-boot again and again because there's no enough battery. That makes it's impossible to charge, 'coz it's only charged when the OS has loaded completely.
Anyway, I called customer service to ask them replace the battery. I may try to use different ROM and see what will happen. I'll post the result here.
It's also possible that it has nothing to do with the battery or charging at all. I just checked mine, and the charging indicator is lit with the unit off, but it does go out for a bit during the boot processes, then comes back on again. So what you're seeing with the charging light is normal. It may simply be that there's something corrupted, or some other failure with the device, that is causing it to not boot properly, and get stuck in a reboot loop. If so, it will probably do the same thing with a completely charged battery. You may have just been assuming that it was related to a low charge.
That's what I'm worry about,, Coz I can't boot it by SteRo's solution.
okay... they say trouble comes in three's...
Yesterday I flew to Asia, 20-hours with a full charge. No suprises during the trip. Checked email from Narita during the layover, no prob. But after I arrived in Taipei I received the low battery warning. Plugged in my usb-to-usb (notebook to kaiser) cable and "no charge light"!
This morning I plugged it into a ac battery charger and waited for >10 minutes, still no charge light.
Now, at the risk of a battery, I'm attempting to charge the battery removed from the kaiser using the previous mentioned method. In an hour I'll test it.
This afternoon I'll pick up a new battery charger and spare battery.
In 14-months with my trusty TyTN (cht9000) I never once had a problem like this... I'm a little bummed right now...
[update]
okay -- battery is okay and can be charged externally (using the two wire method or an external battery charger). BUT... the device still won't take a charge using either a direct AC adapter or a USB cord. This was also retested after performing a hard-reset. Not a good sign folks.
The charger works (connected to a Trinity), so it's not the problem. They battery works (charged to 45% after 45-minutes connected to an external battery charger). The HTC OS after a clean hard-reset used to work but now doesn't, so it's unlikely it's software related.
I've made no other modifications to the bootloader or SSPL... everything is original stock. Wish I had my TyTN with me right about now...
Sounds like something I had on my previous TyTN:
The power connector was a bit flaky on my charger at home. So when I'd hookup the powerlead it would charge to 10 secs or so and then no longer charge. I had to put some pressure on the connector to have it continue to charge. So I put a ballpen on the powerlead, just under the phone, when charging.
It's a long shot - hope of use. When you've connected the phone to power, and the orange light goes off, try wiggeling the connector a bit - see if that helps.
Hope of use.
Re
OK,
I've got excactly the same problems... I dont want to make you illusions, but you cant solve it and you need to send it back for repair. Your usb connecter on your tytn is broken...
first i will tell my story...
My tytn did excactly the same, shows the led, powers on automatically (normally it don't do that, so it;s not a rom issue) and then powered down in the smart mobility screen. I tried 4 chargers, and 2 battery's. with a full battery it will power on and load windows, but unable to charge. with the empty battery it will power down in the smart mobility screen. soft reset, hard reset, it won't work.
You can check if it's the same problem, by attaching it to your usb on your computer and call up the bootscreen by pressing the camera button and stick your stylus in the soft reset hole. If it comes up with serial instead of usb, then your device usb connector is broken.
BUT, you can charge your battery in a very strange way i figured out. since i am on a buisness trip i need my phone and don't send it back!!!!!
ok, this is what you have to do, plug in the powercable, call the hard reset screen BUT DON'T APPLY!!!! you will notice it will not power down, so just leave it on this screen for a night with the cable connected. you don't see the charging light, but actually it is charging. for me this temporarely solution works fine... but when i'm back in about seven weeks i send it in for repair.
Hope this will help you!
Swiftgs:
Many thanks for your insight -- you are correct, in bootloader mode the Serial shows instead of USB. I just purchased a spare battery (1100mAh, made in Taiwan) and battery charger for US$17. It'll get me through my business trip, but this is disappointing. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I used a TyTN for 14-months (July 2006 to Sept 2007) as my primary phone, recharging it daily via the USB connector and on a desk charger in my office. I can only conclude that if the USB is physically damaged (not evident visually), then it is not as robust as the USB port used in the original TyTN. The strangest part of all is it worked perfectly until the battery level fell below 10%...
FWIW: I purchased the phone through R&D Marketing. Ron Webber quickly responded to my note and gave me a contact at HTC America. I'll follow-up
after I return and report my experience.
Cheers
well, thanks for all of your replies/infomation.
I tried evey possible methods mentioned above, unfortunatelly none of them works :-(
and the most depressed thing is I filnally get a new battery, but it still doesn't work!
So I sent it back to repair, cross figure...
It works
I would like to thanx 2 SteRo for his advice. I am using Qtek 9000 and had the same problem. Battery was empty, and I tried many times to turn on my PPC, but without success. All the time when red light appeared after 10-15 sec display become black and tried to restart from boot again, and it's happened many times. Finally I thought that I just can trow my Qtek, but seeing your recommendation decided to try. I took USB cable cut it and strap the wires. Connecting red on (+) and black on (-) after 1 hour charging I was able to start my PPC, to recharge battery by 100% and it is working now OK. I must check duration of the battery tomorrow, because reason why I discharged battery was automatic turn off of my PPC when it was on around 45-50% battery capacity. Tomorrow I will check how it's working when I recharge battery again.
Dear SteRo you are the king.

Can you use someone else's battery to try. Your battery may have just died, some do from time to time.
mmm
I'm not sure, but I don't think it's a battery death problem.
When I turn off it, I CAN CHARGE IT with pc.
I've noticed that if it's turned on, no charge.
If it's turned off, from 15% is now 36% of charge.
WHY???
So if you leave the phone turned off and connected to the PC for a few hours does the battery recharge to 100% and then the orange light change to green? If you then turn the phone on does the light still go out after a couple of minutes? The current draw will be lower when the battery is 100% charged (as it will be when charging while the phone is off). Some PC's can be flakey with high current draw devices on the USB port.
In the situation you described when the light goes off, will the phone still remain connected via Active Sync (or Vista equivalent)? I'm trying to weed out whether the USB connection has anything to do with it. As for those mains chargers, my one (which came with the PPC) worked about 4 times and the first time I had to recharge the PPC from a totally flat battery it died about 3 seconds into the charge. There was a loud click from the charger and it's light extinguished so I dont have much faith in the mark 2 chargers supplied to UK customers. I'm currently waiting on a different warranty replacement - hopefully like the original type with interchangable 'head' to suit different countries.
now it's not fully recharged, but I've just now turned on the phone and the % is growing.
I've always recharged my phone via pc because I left it connected to my pc at work every day during the working day.
only sometime I recharge it via wall plug at home.
dunno why but from yesterday the wall plug works 2 (or less) minutes and the pc is not anymore able to charge the phone.
now, with all the phone switched off (so, also activesync connection closed), the pc can recharge it.

Hey I have the same problem... I am on the original HTC Rom.
All of a sudden today the batt is not charging on the wall socket or the PC USB cable.
There is no light whatsoever, The active sync is also not connecting.
I have hard resetted even then the same problem, I am guessing it is a hardware & not a software problem coz I didnt install any new prog/app since last time I charged.
Now I have removed the Batt, will reattach and check in about 15 mins lets hope it works...
Shall update soon.

Nope, Removing the battery and waited for 30 mins reconnected the batt still not working.
Nor is my kaiser charging while the phone is switched off.
The problem is notof the USB port coz the USB headphones are working fine..
I got a battery problem as well. Problem started 3 days ago (20/12-07)
My problem is that the battery drains to fast.. disconnected it around 02:00 when I was of to bed, (battery 100%) but when I woke up again around 09:00 the phone was dead. Thats only 7 hours.. and in standby mode!
I'm on the original HTC UK ROM and I have only installd a couple programs like the Kaiser Tweak, Handysafe, Wififofum, Sprite backup, Citrix client, puTTY, PocketRAR, Total Commander, TCPMP, Flash player, PK NewWarningColorBatteryClean3G, HTC GPRSmonitor.
So I'm guessing one of these programs drains the battery even when the phone in on sleep.... the ones I installed since 20/12-07 is PocketRAR, TCPMP, Flash player, PK NewWarningColorBatteryClean3G.
Has anyone had battery problems after installing these..
Any help is appreciated.
it is a hardware problem
when I hold the cable of the charger and push it against the usb port it does charge. when I stop pushing it stops charging.

A few days ago, my never rooted, stock firmware, no unlocked boot loader, no custom ROM, never dropped HTC One (M7)'s battery died. Plugging in the charger had no effect, absolutely NOTHING. Tried 6 different cables and 9 different locations to charge it, nothing. Waited a while, dying in desperation. Then after so much of panic, I plugged it again, and randomly it started charging. But the charging had a loop - showed a bright orange LED with the power symbol on a battery for about 5 seconds, then a dim orange LED with the green battery charging, and a number, for about 10 seconds. The loop kept repeating. Eventually I could turn it on till the (incredibly low capacity) battery could live. So I did about 10 resets to it, and the situation would not improve.
Since my phone just decided to do this to me just before a long journey of mine, I was quite upset, and eventually infuriated to the limits. I decided to take it along and try different things to it - tried, tried, cleaned the ports, searched the net, nothing.
One fine day it decided to break the loop - now it charged, but only when off.
And today again its started the loop.
And here I am, begging for some help. I'm starting to hate this device now. Please help me.. :crying:
P.S. : I played a lot of Clash of Clans on the phone - it heated up a lot. Hope the info helps (Possible corrupted overheating charge instructions of the phone, etc.)
please help i love this phone cant lose this at all

I am having the same exact problem right now. its very annoying. I have to drain the whole battery to charge it again. and its in that loop that you mentioned. plus it does not charge when you put it on charge when its on. it doesnt even have that charging light. it only charges itself if its off and if there is no battery left, i have to put it on charge by draining the whole battery by using apps and stuff and i am so pissed right now i cant find a solution to this. Did you find a solution on how to get this fixed?
I am currently having a similar problem where I can only charge my phone if off. Hopefully someone can help!

I have found a solution to this. I am really happy since i am able to use my phone again.
Let me state what exactly i was going through.
I had to use the phone till it actually turned off completely consuming the whole battery and it was very frustrating because i had to deliberately use the phone till the phone shuts down and charge it. And once it started charging, it has a weird stupid way of charging. It shows that its charging and it goes off, comes back on and shows its charging, then it goes off... When it goes off the red light goes away...then comes back on.
I've read other threads and forums about people having the same issue. Others say they're not even able to connect their phones to the computer. You all should try connecting your phone to a computer and check if its able to transfer data.
If that happens, then you're saved. Because this really worked out for me.
Now, i'm not really sure what kind of bug this is, but here's how you fix this.
If you're able to transfer data to your phone, you must browse your phone on the computer and copy a file (or a couple of files - in my case i transferred a movie folder that had a couple files in it)
And guess what..i put it on charge and started charging like normal oh my god i was happy as hell
Thanks. I hope the same works for you all, people have been saying you have to clean the charging port but not really

I'm not sure how are you NOT able to get it connected to your computer. Since i connected it to the computer, it didn't start charging but it allowed me to transfer files. And so i did. You might wanna change the cable and check if its letting you connect to your PC.
So far its working perfectly alright. I don't have a problem as such. And wait, you could install a file manager and move a couple files around. Maybe delete some files or download some files and try.
I Hope it works for everyone who's getting this problem. I know its not a hardware problem and HTC support sucks BIG time. i don't even have htc headquarters so i couldn't get it replaced, bad. but if your phone is under warranty you must get it replaced

Hi! so you are saying that if i move some files from the computer to the phone it might get fixed? Well, i cant plug it to the computer, it just doesnt recognize the phone, if i plug it when the phone is on the pc doesnt show anything and the phone doesnt charge or anything, just like when trying to charge it with the ac charger, if i plug it with to the pc with the phone off then it shows a message that doesnt recognize the device, and the phone doesnt even charge aswell...
Right now the only fix i have found is to solve the problem of having to drain the battery in order to charge the phone, now i fixed it unticking the fastboot option in energy, now i can charge with any % but the phone must be off. Btw it gets a lot of heat while charging it this way... idk if its normal, i heard that because the aliminium case it gets more heat than normal plastic cases.
Thanks for your reply, ill try to connect the phone to the pc a few more times.
Hello guys , , I have the same problem , charging the M7 (On stock rom), I have tried many things ,roms and kernels , currently I managed to make it charge with the screen on with some conditions..
I installed SLIM ROM from their site (4.4.4) . To charge the phone with screen on I have to check "screen on while charging" (because if the screen goes off it stops charging /same thing if somebody is calling me )
To Charge my phone I just need to Reboot normally and charge it ( if you install this rom Activate the sound for the ac plug/unplug so you can know if it is charging well or not )
Eaven if i have to do these things its better then the OFF mode .
Hope It helps .
HTC M7 Only charges when it's off and the laptop can't recognize the device.
Hello, I've had this HTC M7 since last year. It's worked perfectly until a couple days ago.
The phone will not charge when it's on. It only charges when it's off. Also, my laptop won't recognize the device. I've tried with a couple different AC chargers, but no luck.
Sometimes my phone says "CAN'T CHARGE WHILE IN USB HOST MODE," and I don't know how to take it out of USB Host mode? I'm guessing this is a problem with the software. Before this happened the phone worked flawlessly.
Any help, please??!!

It can sometimes be caused by a defective usb port on the phone, does your port looks damaged? Boot your phone in safe mode and check if its doing the same thing.
I've already done that and it doesn't work.
I really don't know what the issue is? I mean this is a perfectly working unlocked HTC M7.
I've turned if off multiple times and even wiped it clean twice. I don't know what else it could be.
I mean it's been working perfectly since I got it.
But as I mentioned earlier it will only charge while the phone is off. And my laptop can't recognized it either.
It only appears and "Unknown Device."
But even when it is off it charges for a bit and then it completely stops.
Then you see the battery logo and then it starts charging again. But it repeat that same process throughout the whole time. So, it can never reach to 100%.
As I've mentioned before I've never really had this problem.
I've been looking for hours on the internet and so far nothing seems to work. There was an app I saw on to access engineer mode or something, but for some reason I can't use that app because it says that I'm missing another application.
Any thoughts??

I have the same problem, it can't charge, PC don't recognize when the phone is on android, but when i boot into recovery everything work fine (charge or data move to PC), so far i could't find any way better.
Hi,
had same problem.
Clearing system cache helped in my case.
Related cause for the trouble seem to be a couple of OTA upgrades I did recently.
(I was on a pretty old version.)
I noticed that there was something wrong while upgrading.
Even though the phone was connected to the charger while the whole upgrade process,
battery level went down...
The following procedure is your own risk!
Be careful not to choose any options that wipe all your data or factory reset your device.
This is how I cleared the system cache :
Boot into recovery (hold both volume-down and power buttons for ~30 seconds until menu shows - )
Press volume-down to choose RECOVERY and press power button.
Be patient ~60 seconds until menu appears.
Choose wipe cache partition and press power button.
Choose reboot system and press power button.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks

I suppose my phone is soft bricked. It doesn't get past the Huawei boot screen. I am still sort of able to enter bootloader and recovery, but I have a problem charging the phone also (which happened after I left in in fastboot mode connected to my PC for a little too long), which means no power to keep it on long for enough to flash rom via fastboot, and trying to do it via 3 key combo with UPDATE.APP on the memory card just says the image is incompatible. The thing with the battery is, when I plug it in it shows that red circle with lightning bolt in the middle like when it's charging, but it immediately changed to green (as if it's fully charged I assume) and the red led flickers. As I understand it, the red light flicking means a battery fault. I know when the red light stays on continuously it means the phone is charging, but that doesn't happen. It just blinks. I can disconnect the battery and retry and it always just keeps blinking, and turning it on means it'll die within 30 seconds. So I can't unbrick my phone if the battery won't charge and furthermore Best of ll is this is I installed a new battery 2 weeks ago and had no problem new battery. I even replaces it AGAIN when I thought the battery was faulty. So perhaps you guys know of some software, hardware, or unconventional trick to get it to charge. I'm very desperate for help! Thanks all for reading!
Just keep it plugged in overnight.

Your battery is drained.. That's the thing.. Charge it, the LED will blink red few times amd as you mentioned, red circle will turn green.. it doesn't mean that the battery is full charged, but instead, it means that the battery is charging... Let the battery charge for few minutes (possibly an hour or so). Do note whether the phone reboots or not.. if not.. its ok..
After charging your device, switch it off (if your device is turned on). Connect it to your PC and just press & hold the vol- key... It should go into fastboot mode... If it goes, then just flash the boot image of your current build..
I too faced similar problem few days back amd resolved it by doing this.. (I was on b596 when I faced this problem, I flashed b596 boot.img)

I thought the green circle and red flashing led meant doomsday for my device. I left it overnight at some point and it even got really hot. Strangest thing is, the screen doesn't turn off when it shows the red circle and blinking red led. And having left it overnight like that connected to the charger made the phone very hot and it didn't charge at all.

I did in fact flash some things, but even after that charging worked just fine! (that was before this charging problem) Just now it doesn't boot. (but I was certain flashboot would rescue me. I know I flashed something I shouldn't have, which is why I'm eager to get back into fastboot, but can't without any power and the PC USB to phone connection doesn't provide enough power for it to stay on.
This oddness started randomly while my phone was connected to my PC in fastboot mode (thankfully before trying to flash anything or running any commands)
I very sincerely hope someone has answers for me. I'm desperate as this was a gift and I just had to tinker. to try a better rom :crying:
But luckily I know this forum has the best experts around!
Is the problem the same as the people in this thread
Open the cell phone and disconnect the battery and reconnect it.
I had the same problem and solved it this way.

Either you open your back case and remove your battery..
Or connect your device to the PC but just by holding your vol- key, that will boot you in fastboot mode.. no matter how little charge you have, it should work

Hey there, thanks for your reply. I have in fact disconnected and reconnected the battery countless times without any effect. I also connected it to PC, disconnected battery, reconnected battery while holding VOL- and it didn't boot into fastboot, just the green circle. Just switching it off with the power button makes it switch on again immediately and holding VOL-still doesn't boot into fastboot mode. I actually once got it to boot into fastboot mode, I can't remember how, but it lasted about a minute then it died from low power even while connected to a US 3.0 port with extra power. y the way, one oddity is that when holding VOL+ is actually goes into recovery mode, but I reflashed stock recovery to try and to flash the UPDATE.APP automatic upgrade, but it didn't work and so it's pretty useless.
Thanks for all the suggestions, you guys are awesome! Really hoping you guys can help me out in the end though!

Has it charged since then? When you plug in your cable, does it charge, or does it turn on?
I tried charging with powerbank (at that time, I was out on a bus), it got superhot (the only hot thing I got in my life) and it was turning on automatically... I let it charge for 30 minutes, and then I hold the Power button to shut it down (but it didn't work, I guess).. then I connected it to my laptop just holding the volume- button, it did boot to fastboot..
I am out of suggestions, will post you again if anything else comes to my mind...
Hang in there buddy..

Nope, it's not charging. I've used multiple chargers and even different PC's USB connections, but all that comes up onscreen is the round green logo with the battery, and sometimes a red one instead of green.
And of course the constant blinking led, it never goes away. and also the screen doesn't go off like it does when it's charging. I swear the moment it turns solid red, if that ever happens, I shall rejoice.
Nevertheless, I have utmost respect for this site and faith in its member! :good::laugh: I just KNOW someone will help me resolve this. I can enter recovery (stock) but it doesn't charge there not does the silly stock recovery have a option to turn off. And even sometimes when it seems completely drained, it seems like it starts charging after about 2 minutes after I plugged it but it turns on the screen, shows the green circle, and red blinking led. I'm at my wit's end. :crying: It was a gift and I messed it up.
I didn't read everything in this thread, sorry, but just asking, did you try to charge it overnight? My brother had an old, really small Vodafone Huawei Phone and sometimes it just turned off and needed at least 12 hours charging time to turn on again. Maybe just try to let it plugged in for a day. It may help.

Yep, I did. Annoying thing is the screen stays on when it's plugged in, unlike charging. I kept it plugged in to a wall charger overnight, and the next morning the phone was hot (supposedly because the screen stayed on) and the led was blinking still. When I unplugged it it lost power. This is so strange because just a week ago there was nothing wrong with the battery even.
Had the same problem couple of times
Try this...
1. unplug battery
2. plug-in charger (without battery!)
3. when charger is plugged to the phone then plug battery connector
Enjoy

Dead Phone (doesn't charge?)

Hi,
I was using my phone until my battery completely died then when I finally plugged it was so low that it couldn't turn on so it kept restarting
for infinity amount of times, then it got even worse now it doesn't even do that it just show some battery icon with red color as low and some plug in the center of it that keeps flashing for couple of seconds and turn on and keeps repeating if I plug it in or press power button but no matter for how long I'll leave it plugged nothing will happen...
Any possible fix, thanks in advance.
P.S. It's such a BS tbh if it was so low why would it automatically try to switch on instead of waiting some time allowing the battery to charge at least 5%...
Same problem!

Hi, I did. In my case it's faulty charging port (I don't know what happened to it) but it's still possible to charge the phone if you insert the cable the right way.
I randomly fixed it by trying to plug/unplug the cable and at some point that battery with the flashing plug changed color to green disappeared and became standard white battery which shows charging progress so basically you can live with that as it's only tricky when the battery is too low as long as you always keep the phone charged and don't let it die but I still wake up sometimes in the morning with my battery on the same % so it's not a permanent fix you will probably need to change the port... Even though by searching the internet people say it's related to the battery not properly being connected i.e. has lose contacts etc.
P.S. I use original charging cable, I thought the cable might be broken so bought an expensive one from Amazon but for some reason it doesn't work.

My brother's nokia 8 has this problem, too. One side of usb-c charges well (c > 2 Amperes), other side doesn't (c < 0.1 A). No problem on the cable, because it works well with my phone. I tried to clean the usb socket with alcohol and soft paper but no result.
Try a higher power charger

My phone had this same issue and the work around was just getting a strong Note 8 Original charger, I connected it to the Nokia 8 and gave it some time and boom, All is well. weaker chargers no longer charge and will spoil your phone just get a strong charger
