I had a 64GB microSD card that was doing nothing more than sitting since the LG G2 does not have a microSD slot. I picked up a small OTG reader and now I have almost 90GB of storage! Really nice design, micro USB OTG on one end and standard USB on the other to use with a computer.
2-in-1 USB MicroSD OTG
About $3 shipped, reads 64GB cards (specifically SanDisk Ultra 64GB XC1 class), was seeing 30MB/second reads and 10MB/second writes from the computer. The phone has no problem reading the card and there is a headphone plug to keep the reader attached to the phone. It does seem a little flimsy, but for its size and cost I am still very pleased.

Ooo that does seem really nice I'm gonna grab one now, I was looking for something like this but found nothing this good.... The memory card that can do this is still out of stock so this will do in the meantime!
Thanks for sharing, I think the headphone jack thingy is a really nice touch

That sounds great, sir! May I ask if you can record videos directly to your SD card using the stock camera and/or 3rd party video apps (if there's any)?
Has anybody actually ordered and received this yet, just a little wary about ordering from Chinese sellers... Got my gmail hacked last time

This sounds like the punchline "And that's how I joined a Mexican gang".
I've been ordering from dx.com for years, never a problem. You will wait and wait for the shipment, but it will get here. If there is a problem they will fix it, for $3 you might want to get more than one. There are many other OTG adapters there as well, search OTG and sort by price, low to high, and release date to see more options, there are even some android shaped ones.
I ordered and received these before posting, I will test it once I get my phone replaced. It decided to "die" last night, reboots, gets to lock screen, freezes then reboots, even reverted to stock rom with the same issue. Going to swap it at a Sprint store today.

I have micro USB to female USB OTG adapter and it works. Have been very interested in the Meenova.com one. Think I am going to order it.
Sony has recently release a double port USB and microUSB pendrive. It seems to me like a good solution

Pity that is USB instead of micro USB otg. If it were micro USB otg (to connect directly) would be perfect
Is there such a thing?
Cheers,

This is what I have, I use it with a usb otg and it works so well (with stickmount app).
I got a 90degree usb otg lead like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aftermarket...NQXS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351030326&sr=8-1
less likely to get knocked etc.
worst thing about the sandisk usb stick is that it's so small i'm afraid i'll lose it
Edit: pretty sure there isn't a micro usb flash drive yet... but if you find one then let me know hah!

i paid usd 17.99 for mine, only complaint is that unless you have it in a usb slot, i tend to misplace it easily
I have one and it's okay for portability and it's a great size. But, to be expected, it's write speeds are horrible, I get about 4-5mb/s write speeds, read speeds 15-25mb/s
Thanks for the replies fellas, I've ordered one. Write speeds were expected to be poop, it's the compactness of it that appeals. Gonna order one of those right-angled OTG cables now too.

as it was already mentioned, the Write speed are pretty bad, and I tried to use it on my Nexus 7 for some music and movies and some of the movie sometime stops. Otherwise for documents and small files it's ok.

Something like the one below with a micro-usb connector instead.

Kickstarter, buddy. Make your own and make your millions at the same time.
So I bought this Microusb flash drive/ microsd card reader from Amazon to try with my Nexus 10. It's not low profile, but it is pretty small.
http://www.amazon.com/Koolertron-NO...727367&sr=8-8&keywords="microusb"+"card+noosy
I can get the 4 gb flash drive to work using either Nexus Media Importer or Stick Mount, but I cannot get the microsd to show up. It works fine in my Galaxy S3 in both ICS and Jellybean. Has anyone else tried this product? Any ideas to get one of those apps (or another one) to read a device that has both a usb flash drive and microsd card? This device could be the answer to my storage problems on the Nexus 10 if only I can get it to read the microsd card! Thanks!

I already got 2 of those and they work fine with NMI - just looking for something that won't block the headphone jack. One of those with the micro-usb connector reversed would at least go in the other direction and leave the headphone jack accessible.

I'm trying to avoid something that sticks out too far. If you drop the N10 or bang it on something with that connected, it could really stress (or even break) the micro-usb jack.
I only need the flash drive/card reader to watch movies. I'm ok with it jutting out some as long as I can get it to work. I'm surprised no one else has found this item with all the people looking for microusb flash drives.

If it doesn't exist (yet), that makes it kinda hard to find.
I just ordered this from ebay. It's not specifically described as OTG but it does say it's 5-pin, so I'm hopeful. At least it will leave the headphone jack accessible.
The point of my earlier post is that micro-usb flash drives do exist, and you can buy them from amazon. It may not be small enough for you, but it is still pretty small and light and could be a good option for people who do not want to build their own or be stuck using a cable.
The problem is that I still can't get it to read the microsd card. It is only reading the flash memory part on my Nexus 10. My Galaxy S3 can read the 4 gig internal memory and the 32 gig microsd card.

Sorry - I was still referring to a low profile flash drive, as pictured in the OP and another poster's picture. I have seen the ones you're referring to, and I'm just paranoid about it sticking out that far. The right angled adapter I posted above (assuming it works as OTG) would at least keep the flash drive running parallel to the edge of the N10, rather that sticking out perpendicular to it.
I just bought one of the SanDisk Fit drives you used as an example, and while I haven't looked at it closely, my guess is that the bulk of its "guts" are actually stuffed in the USB connector itself (pretty sure I've run across MicroSD card readers that worked this way) and therefore wouldn't fit into a similar package with a micro usb connector.

looks good.
1 question though.. How do you transfers the data from the computer to this? an extra opposite adapter? =p..
So I was experimenting this evening and found that the M8 can't utilize my Meenova card reader (therefore, I wonder whether it will work with the equivalent Leaf product I saw announced recently).
However, when I pulled my USB OTG cable out, it read a USB drive just fine. That's a pleasant surprise, especially because it apparently does not require the Nexus Media importer (like my Nexus 7 FHD does) to access files on an external USB device.
I would assume, and I haven't tried this yet, that it would also read a hard drive (provided it was powered externally).
How was the SD card in the meenova formatted?

FAT32. It was a Sandisk 64g that used to run inside my Rezound and had worked with my Nexus 7 FHD via the Meenova previously.
Well I think it is because the M8 already have a SD slot and it can't adress the second.
Mine sees my meenova just fine with a sandisk 64, the red and gray ultra formatted FAT32. Try pulling the thing out slightly to where the hooks keep it from falling out and wait awhile, the first time it took a long time to mount but once it does it works fine afterwards.
It doesn't matter if a device has an external SD card, those are mounted as sdcard1 and so forth, OTG devices get mounted as usbdisk1 and on.
Lemme clarify that the phone can READ files from the meenova but can not write without modifying permissions.xml to reverse the 4.4 external media write protection.
that wouldn't have anything to do, I have no problems on my S3/S4 doing that
Unfortunately, I think it is the Meenova that is incompatible with the m8. I have an AT&T-branded m8, stock, and when the Meenova is plugged in, Android is cycles back and forth between mounting and unmounting it.
I take the microSD out of the Meenova and plug it into a USB reader in a USB-OTG cable and the m8 mounts it just fine.
I'm going to contact Meenova and see if they have any ideas.
I have both the Meenova and an OTG cable. I have tried multiple cards that work in my PC and tablet. None will mount on my M8. It just keeps flashing "Safe to Remove" and "Device Removed Unexpectedly" over and over.
Mine did the same thing of mounting/umounting also, until i pulled on it slightly because i thought the contacts were not making a proper connection. Pulled it slightly back to where the hooks caught it and it worked ok after. Probably not a great solution but just reporting that it does work with my meenova.

ps3 pad now works using ElementalX kernel, hopefully he will add otg support
Just looked on the meenova site and they explicitly point out that HTC One M8 (2014) is not supported. It would have been nice to get an idea if they plan to fix this or produce a new model that will support our phones For the time being I am using a USB OTG cable to connect to a Kingston USB3, it works but is bulky an inconvenient.
Really need the meenova to work so I can get around the no writing to ext sdcard from Kit Kat 4.4.

Are you serious guys? Meenova doesn't work on your m8? Mine works fine. I tested it with a data transfer from meenova to internal sd card (2 gb file) worked good. Only thing is i can't use the meenova and headphone at the same time. Not enough space to put the headphone plug in with meenova inserted.
I can chime in and say that i found some old cables for hooking up internal drives yesterday. Hooked up a 2TB hitachi drive, worked like a charm.
Streaming from drive to chromecast didn't pose any problems either.

I'd usually agree with this, but I plan on using this to watch movies sometimes when I'm on transportation. I' d just put it portrait and prop it up, so probably wouldn't need to touch it too much.
Just so you all know, Monoprice has already made something like this, which is also works with USB A. I can't post a link to amazon due to a new account, but it's called the Monoprice Dual Mode USB-C MicroSD Reader.

I have had it for a little while but don't like the fact that the USB adapter part is a separate piece not on the keychain. Also the USB adapter is flaky and keeps disconnecting from the pc.
