Well my first stock custom rom has been created. I'll test it for the next day but in esence it is
Based from Asus Stock 10.26.1.18 WW JB 4.3
Apps and Framework Deodexed
Stock Kernel with adb, root, busybox and insecure support
SuperUser, binary and script for 4.3+
Asus Dial Home apps removed
Titanium Backup, ES File Explorer and Androind Terminal added as system apps.
Will release tomorrow which then paves the way for CROMi-X 6.0 - fully customised + tweaked ROM

Great News Good work.
Great news!!!
Excellent ! I am looking forward for installation during weekend.
If I would humbely vote for first ported function - most wanted one is possibility to move bottom "back, home, and swith" button to lef side of screen. Default middle position is the most anoyng feature of the latest Android versions.

Noe this is a basic stock rom - so basically zipaligned, modified kernel to allow root and adb, superuser and all apps updated to latest versions in /system. It has init.d support for runnning startup shell scripts and also busy box is installed.
A more tweaked and modded rom will be released under the CROMi-X banner later
Enjoy! :good:

I removed the bottom bar all together and use gestures for back, home and recent apps. Makes your screen bigger as well. All done with two apps.

Little Feedback
Hello.
As I am too junijor to respond in developer section, I would give sdbags little feedback here.
I have installed your ROM very smoothly, however i had mention one minor issue - Titanium backup wasnt able to recognize my pro license.
I have sorted it out by removing titanium backup app file from /system/app folder and i have installed it again. Now it looks fine.

Ah OK - thanks for the feedback - I'll move it to a data/app for next time. I have just finished the first build of CROMi-X 6.0b1 and have already put it as a data app in there. I couldn't remember why it had to be in /data and now I know :good:

You need 2 apps for this: gmd gesture control to create the gestures and from the same developper gmd auto hide softkeys to hide the bottom bar only.
For both there's a free version so you can try before you buy.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontroldemo
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeysp
Both apps require root.
I use custom gestures:
-swiping down with 4 fingers is back
-swiping with 4 fingers show the recent apps
- pinch 4 fingers brings me back to the home screen
- expand 4 fingers toggles between my current view and full screen (no bars at all on top or bottom)
- swiping with 4 fingers left or right takes me to the prevoius or next app
If you use it and use the Asus Task Manager as well, make sure you lock these services so they won't be closed by it.

Just going to post in here, running sdbags modified rom seems to be giving me better battery life.
I take this tab with me to work and use it during my downtime quite regularly, and normally by the end of my shift my dock battery is fully drained and I'm down to about 20% battery at best. Fairly slow day today, heavy usage, some PSP emulation, I'm sitting at a cool 60% as of this moment. (dock battery 0%)
I haven't bothered looking at the battery stats, so anecdotal at best, but for anyone having battery issues it may be worth the ten minutes it takes to download and flash this.
Looking forward to the Cromi releases, I was rocking that on my TF300 with rom2sd as my primary driver till I got this.

Oh trust me, once your ROM is released the only time I'm touching a stock rom with a twenty foot pole is if the bootloader changes and I have no choice. (ie: TWRP 2.4.4.0 to 2.5+ on the TF300)
Even then, I'm going to feel dirty and scrub myself.

About Us & ROM:
The first generic Android platform for current and future Droid devices. We are a bunch of mad hackers, modders and developers that were not happy with the current model of Droids being "Blurred" so we began a mission to rid our devices from the blurriness of VZW Android systems. It started with a crazy idea of messing with the Droid2 SDK that has turned into a full fledge AOSP generic type of ROM. We have incorporated many features that were only seen in AOSP ROMs before this. Some of the features include Reboot in Power Menu, custom built Framework, vanilla Android GUI, totally blur free app folder and many more AOSP like features to come in the short term future.
Features:
True Vanilla ROM with generic Android feel, not themed to look line one. No blur apps...
Reboot in Power Menu.
Custom Framework - 10% battery increments with display percent number & without.
Overclock ready out of box.
Lots of free memory.
ROM has root and has been deodexed, and zip alligned.
Busybox installed and symlinks have been applied.
Clean base for you to customize how you like.
And many more...
Fission ROM Manager:
Fission ROM Manager (FRM) is a utility we developed to make modifying your Droid phones much easier. It was designed for the new Android user but also very useful for the more advanced user. You can download ROMs, themes, updates add ons and much more. Once your downloads are done you can install everything within Android. No need to go into recovery any more.
HotFix:
Check Fission ROM Manager for 2.5.5 HotFix. Brings it up to 2.5.6

Custom contact ringtones may be fixed, key word being “may”.
USB Tethering enabled, need tether plan for it to work. Working on free hack
Notepad as been updated to latest version.
Do not use any themes that are not made for 2.5.5.
Themers…just update to the new framework, nothing else has changed.

2.4.2 -> 2.4.3
Removed Sound and Speach Recoder
Added new Sound Recorder that can be launched from App Draw
Added 10% Battery Display option to FRM. Will reset current theme back to Stock Fission.
2.4 -> 2.4.2
DX build gets new framework whcih should fix the random USB reboot when plugging in.
All previous fixes are now included
Latest Android Market
More Code Cleaning
Full version ROMs and Upgrades are available. Upgrade will only replace packages. It will not wipe app or framework folder.
No reason to wipe cache or data if coming from Fission ROM for either Full ROM or Upgrade.
2.2.1 -> 2.4
All Devices are now equal. Perform and look the same.
Framework improvements all around. Colors, placement of graphics...lots of little changes.
Almost all apps for each device have been rebuilt from source. Either from AOSP source or Moto source.
Each device now has device specific apps. Will help of future Blur add on. Many people been asking for many different Blur apps so there will be an add on Blur package. Blur package will be heavily modified Blur services and then each app will be an individual add on.
MMS menu compose graphic now fixed.
Phone mute fixed.
Rebuilt Moto Apps (MediaGallery, Cam and Music) are now standard. They work better and will help with Blur add on. Generic Android Apps will be available on FRM.
All devices now use Moto Multi-Touch keyboards. They are themed as Generic Android Keyboards.
More cleaning of code and tweaks...
Few other changes I can not think of right now
Small bug with Global ROM. If you need to activate, slide out keyboard and hit the number key you need to use.
No need to wipe data or cache if coming from previous Fission ROM; however the installer will wipe your system folder so back up any changes you have made to your system folder.
DO NOT USE 2.3.1 Themes. They will work but you will lose lots of changes. Themers are working hard now to update themes.
I must say these are the best Fission ROMs so far. Lots of love and hard work went into them.

Cell standby battery usage
ang, quick question. Cell standby is still showing massive battery use, as well as 50% time without signal. You said before it is just a visual bug, but I wanted to ask what makes you think do, because my battery life still seems to be suffering with these roms. Love them generally, but am getting much worse battery life than I had before. Used to get 24+ hours.
Thoughts? Thanks for the sweet rom.
Anyone else report the best battery life they are sering under normal usage? I can sometimes drop 10 or more percent in less than 45 mins.
Loving it so far! Great work!

i'm getting outstanding battery life with 2.1 final. and i've seen a few others say that too. i'm not seeing the cell standby issue either. Did you do a 2.2 sbf prior to installing? did you follow the install instructions? there's a couple new important steps that were added today.
So far so good, just need to look for that addon file from the last version that added batt % to notification bar.
Edit: did that earlier but reason it wasn't working earlier was cause I was installing the 10% followed by the regular framework; canceling it out. I got too excited.

I did some Googling and apperently this is a common issue. People seem to be split on if its actually effecting battery life. The battery manager fcs and the fact that it doesn't happen every restart make it harder to pin down.
Since I do believe it effects my battery life if I reboot my phone I immediately put it into airplane mode for a second a then take it out. That solves the 50% problem and I don't think its ever spontaneously started without me rebooting the phone.

The battery manager app does FC every now and then with me too. Braway and I are working on tracking it down. We have a few ideas to what is causing it so it might be able to get fixed.
I heard it does it on the stock ROM too, can anyone confirm that?
Anyone here experiences the the DX_Keyboard doesn't show up after installing from the SD_Card. I remember this has been fixed in the RC3 patches. Also tapping the phone icon from the launcher doesn't open up the dial keypad anymore. There is no phone icon in the app draw neither. Any advice?

I used stock rom 2.2 for a long time and have not encountered any FC issues. I think you should perform a factory reset and do not restore data from any backup software.

Ok so with 2.1 Final...do I still have to install the vanilla framework file inside the addon directory to get 10% battery increments? (all I want is the increments, I don't care for the visual on the battery itself) Thanks.

A message from the Paranoid Android Team: This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, they change two lines in your build.prop file which you could easily edit yourself in seconds and maybe throw a keyboard in there to make it work better. It's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank. Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. we're calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.*
A message from Battlekry: I have been running this rom on my device for a good day and a half and have ironed out some minor things... I have communicated with the members of the PA team and will link this thread to them, I have been permitted to do this. I hope you guys enjoy this.. This version of the PA rom is VERSION 1.0 as seen in the CL in post 2 and VERSION 1.1 was released today by PA so it should be coming your way if I find it a mandatory update.. I will keep an eye out.. Use this rom and fun with it do not go blind though... but also let me warn you....
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, or the Derrick Rose's season ending injury this NBA post season...

Can anyone comment if 911 works (in the USA), as CM9 ROM's don't seem to be all that consistent with this and it's still considered a bug.

Globe, your results may vary with 911 as we all understand.. Maybe someone can check as I have not...I may when I get to the crib.. Sorry for now brother..
GPS is also not made to work in this rom as it is missing the files although a GPS fix could be flashed along with any preferred Kernel combo...
One reason I did not include Subzero out the box for this is because it does not play nice with the Galaxy S settings for color... Although if dig a little deeper I could find a solution for that, if not someone may just chime in..
For the most part I am getting decent battery life, I did not mess with any build prop edits to enhance data or wifi scanning for the flashable rom zip but you you all can with your own setup.. The rom is running sturdy on the Vibrant...

Mr Psycho has a moded version of the app that works with his kernels, it may or may not work on this rom.
Vibrant MiuiV4 360° Productions
So far after a few hours on this rom, I like it quite a bit. The only thing I am not liking is the fact the stock keyboard is the only one working when in tablet mode. I tried two tablet specific keyboards and they both did the same thing which was that they are so blown up in size I can only see the upper left part of the keyboard. One of the ones I tried was thumbkeyboard and that has options for changing the size but that didn't change it at all. Anyone know if this can be fixed?

Hey there, settings--->Paranoid settings ---> hybrid --->enable it ---> list apps.. go to all apps towards the most right... here you can adjust the dpi for tablet or phone mode and set a custom dpi..

It is listed as emmc in any file manager.. so it is in fact mounting for me...
I can add a flashable zip that MP made to invert that to the new CM standard where the internal SD card for phones is seen as the emmc and the external would be the main.. this seems to resonate with the way the CM9 nightlies are doing it... let me know if you guys want that...

What I did is the following
settings--->Paranoid settings ---> hybrid enabled ---> list apps.. find thumb keyboard, set it to phone mode and dpi to 120... small running hybrid but works...

IMPORTANT: There are two ROMS, the p4 is the one for the 3G version (P7500) and the p4wifi is the wifi only version (P7510). Unfortunately I didn't test the wifi only version but I think it should work just fine, let me know if not.
BUGS
Camera still in portrait mode instead of landscape
Calculator not starting
Calendar not starting
NOTE
Navigation bar has been disabled and replaced by "Button Savior" which I think it's a lot more user friendly when using the tablet as a reading device (just position to your thumb) and won't use up a large amount of space just for 3 simple buttons.
Video playback is in portrait only mode by default, just click the menu (when playing video) and enable rotation to have it work in landscape mode too.
Ad blocking included using the Mother of All AD-BLOCKING hosts file. Just install AdFree apk if you need a more permissive hosts file.

Yes, SD card is missing because this is a Galaxy Nexus S miui rom so sdcard is disabled, I will have a look on that, regarding backup, clockwork mod from rebooting works just fine, also sdcard is there and mounted if you use the terminal.

Ok, added screenshots (not that there would be much to see) and regarding disabling the Lockscreen just go to Settings -> Full Settings -> Developer Options -> Access System Directly
Excellent ...thanks
I have been waiting for this........u made my day.
Can someone please make the p7510 build ....thanks in advance
so this works in portrait mode only?
Had a bit of time to play around with it again so just updated the ROM and the phone and network manager dying out is fixed, also added modified hosts file to filter out ads and made a build for the P7510 too (didn't test it but it should work, let me know if not).
Regarding the rotation, all application can be used in portrait or landscape, the only one that is always in portrait mode is the MiuiHome but that shouldn't give you much headache

Well I do appreciate your work since there is only few and really very loved devs for gtab so having 1 more its always good..
Got several questions... As you builded from cm9 I guess the rom its 100% compatible with pershoot's kernel... So we can have the latest kernel just grabbing the last pershoot's release...
Obvious no camera working, thing that i really like it's having the lock screen working as we already got enough stuff not working to add 1 more hehe, probably an easy fix for a great dev like you?
And the last but more important.. Did you enabled the gsm calling? I mean phone.apk added with ui and everything? As you even mention it's a big phone!!! And if not what are the chances of getting it?
Thanks for the rom.. I'll download tonight and try...

Thanks for the kind words, I shared this rom because I have found two threads that say they have ported Miui to the tab but none of them did a release so once I did find a way to do it I said why not give it out to the people so even if it's not stable but they have a point to start or at least have a look if worth using it.
Regarding the kernel not sure if it does indeed work with pershoot's kernel, never tried but you could check it out and see, for me the most important was to have it working so I can browse, read news, email and chat, and for the rest I don't really care, I never in my life ever downloaded an application from the market that I kept using (except the tunein which allows me to listen to Music One so that's all).
Yep, camera isn't working, all things that aren't working in a CM9 rom aren't working here either, that's exactly why I don't mention these things in the BUGS section as this has nothing to do with the port nor with MIUI.
On the phone end, I have a card put into my tablet and I'm able to use sms it seems, on the call end I just tried and indeed it's not working and also I tried with a data working card but unfortunately that isn't working either so it seems there is some more thing to take care and once I will have some time I will have a look on these too but would welcome any help from other devs who already overcome these just for different devices as any hint/help is more than appreciated.

very nice, been looking miui for 10.1 for sometime, as i am using it in i9100, so, will try it without even thinking, thanks for the rom so much.
As I have just installed, rotation is working fine, wifi working fine, still testing out, will post more if i have found out more. Found it! Thanks, Cheers!!!
This needs a lot of work, but nevertheless it's damn well awesome that we now have MIUI.
It DESPERATELY needs a tablet mode. Some apps don't want to work, like Browser, which just crashes back to Homescreen after I open it. Seeing lots of errors in logcat. Lock screen is destroyed, and I can't find Lock 8, a Windows 8 style lock screen. I used it when I first got my Tab but now it appears to be gone, without a trace. Are we the only buttonless tablet with MIUI? If not, damn. The phone mode just really kills me on a big tab like this. Maybe a 7 incher. Phone and messages app should be removed, Phone volume should be removed and just leave media, notification, alarm. Needs work, but it's damn well an awesome start.
Hi guys and girls Ok well i've been lurking around on these forums for some time now. Recently I rooted my Nexus 5 and I must say I love it! I'm aiming to make this thread somewhat of a one stop for people who have just rooted or are considering rooting to see what is possible once you root your phone!
Alright so first things first, before you go any further you are going to need:
A rooted Nexus 5!
A fair amount of time.
if you are unsure of how to go about doing this please read through this thread made by the wonderful Chromium_:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507905
OK, so from this point on i'm going to assume you have all the requisites you need so lets get into it shall we
Block adverts while browsing the web.
So i'm pretty sure that most of us have been blocking those frustrating pop ups and banner adverts while browsing the web on our PCs or Macs for years now right? (Yes, I am looking at you Mr. 888 Poker! ) But for some reason this is not possible to do on our phones. Not anymore! With your rooted phone you can install the superb adaway and wave those adverts goodbye!
Adaway is not however available from the playstore. Don't fear though you can get it here!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190753
NB: If for some reason you are not currently blocking ads on your PC or Mac. I recommend the add on - adblockplus.
https://adblockplus.org
Install custom Lockrings, softkeys and more.
Bored of the standard android lockscreen? Don't want to have to mess around with apps such as widgetlocker which often prove to be quite unstable at times? Now you don't have to!
Check out this thread created by matthew0776
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2514238
With the files included in that thread you can have whatever look you could possibly want! As the thread states however, in order to flash them on your device you will need the application ZipThemer.
ZipThemer is a simple enough application to use and is available from the playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kellinwood.zipthemer
In order to use ZipThemer the steps are as follows:
1) Open the ZipThemer application and press Update Edify, you will find this in the drop down menu which appears when you press the 3 dots in the top corner of the right hand side of the screen.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2) Once you press Update Edify you should be greeted with this screen:
3) Press 'Browse'
4) Select the firmware file you are currently using. It could be called, for example, pa_hammerhead-4.0-BETA6-20140217.zip
5) Press 'Configure' A message at the bottom of the screen should pop up at this point which says 'success'.
6) Press the back key once. You should end up at this screen:
7) Once at the screen above press '+Theme' You should then be presented with this screen:
8) Press the green back arrow on the screen above and browse to the location of your lockring/sofkey .zip file you downloaded and placed on your device earlier.
9) Press 'Build It!' and make sure you select the option to make a backup/undo so you can always switch back to stock easily or if there is any issues.
10) Boot device into recovery (CWM or TWRP) Select install Zip from SD card and install it! You will find your file in the root of your SD card for easy access.
ZipThemer not working? Don't worry all hope is not lost! The method above works for the vast majority but if you are one of the unfortunate few there is a solution!
Follow the steps above as usual but when you get to step #4 (Browse for firmware file) Select this file:
http://d-h.st/CgG
Instead of whatever firmware file you are currently running on your device.
Again all credit goes to matthew0776 here. I have simply tried to rephrase the instructions he provided in the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39572221&postcount=18&nocache=1&z=5376182028558105
To make them easier to understand
Change your boot animation.
Alright so did you know now that you've rooted your phone you can change the boot animation to whatever you like? Well you can! And below i'm going to try my best to explain how.
Ok, now there are a few ways to do this. Personally I like to do things manually however so that's the way i'm going to demonstrate here. If however you don't fancy doing the legwork yourself though (and don't mind paying a small sum) I am aware of a option in the awesome ROM Toolbox pro which does pretty much the same thing. You can get ROM Toolbox pro from the playstore here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolboxpro
So, you've decided to stick with me then?! Alright cool, well here is how to do it the good old fashioned way then
You will need:
Root Explorer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer
A custom boot animation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577081 (Thanks to thor6577)
1) Open Root Explorer and navigate your way to: system/media.
2) Here you will find a file called bootanimation.zip Select this file (press the tick to the right of it) and rename it. To do this press the 3 dots in the top corner of the right hand side of the screen once you have selected it and press 'Rename' You may be greeted with a warning at this stage asking if you wish to change the file system from read-only to read-write the answer is YES.
3) Rename the file to bottanimation.zip1 . This is essentially making a backup
4) Browse to wherever you have saved your new custom boot animation and copy it over to this directory (system/media)
NOTE: Your custom boot animation MUST BE called bootanimation.zip or it will not work.
5) Reboot and enjoy
Change your LCD screen density.
The Nexus 5 has absolutely gorgeous 5" display but in my opinion it does not make the most of it out the box! With a rooted phone however you can change the LCD density of the screen to whatever you like!
In simple terms changing the density effects how large icons and widgets will appear on your screen. This means the lower the density the more you can fit on one screen
Changing the screen density on a rooted phone is an incredibly simple Build.prop tweak. Certain custom ROMs come with this feature already nicely packaged into the ROM for example the ROM I am using AOSB 1.3.1 does.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615590
But, if your ROM doesn't or you have decided to stay on stock don't worry To change you LCD Density follow the steps below:
1) Open Root Explorer and navigate your way to system.
2) Select build.prop (Press the blue tick)
3) Click on the three dots on the top right of the screen and select 'Open in Text Editor' You may be greeted with a prompt here which 'WARNING' file system read-only, switch to read-write? (I'm paraphrasing) The answer is of course YES.
4) Find the entry ro.sf.LCD_density.
5) Change the number directly after the '=' to what you want the screen density to be. You can go anywhere from 300 - 480 before apps such as the Playstore start to break. Personally I use 340 dpi and I think its perfect, its all personal preference though
6) Press the three bars in the top right corner and select save changes.
7) Reboot your phone and enjoy
For more information on LCD density and discussion please check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2517311
mmmm PIE!
PIE is a nice little feature you may have stumbled across browsing these forums. If you haven't already it looks like this:
Pretty cool right?! Well I thought so anyway. Well with your rooted phone now you can have it to Now there are two ways (which I know of) how you can get this. The first way is the simplest by far. Many ROMS come with this nice feature already installed. To find out if yours does just check out the features page. Often you don't even have to do that its actually written in the title of whatever ROM you are using. To check out all the custom ROMs available for the Nexus 5 on XDA check out these two forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development
Now if your ROM does come with PIE baked into it. Your already all set, just go to your settings page and you will find the options for it in there. However if you are still running stock don't worry you can have PIE too thanks to noname81. To get it visit here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
noname81's app couldn't be simpler to use either, simply download the latest build and place it somewhere easily accessible on your device, for example, Download. Then browse for it using whatever file manager you like (there's loads on the Playstore) however personally I like ES File manager the most if you just cant make your mind up. Its free and you can get it here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop
Once you've found it click on the apk and hit install.
NOTE: YOU MUST ALLOW INSTALLATION OF APPS FROM UNKNOWN SOURCES.
To do this:
1) Go to settings.
2) Scroll down to 'Personal' and press on 'Security'.
3) Scroll down to 'Device Administration'
4) Press the check box located to the right of the entry 'unknown sources'.
AppBar (Xposed Framework)
Ok, well the options really are somewhat limitless with this so i'm not going to go through all of them. Instead i'm just going to focus on one of my personal favorites, The AppBar. If you are wondering what AppBar is, it's a little feature which looks like this:
AppBar is not permanently on show like the picture above however. It simply slides into frame when you touch a certain area of the screen which you can personally set up to your liking (much like PIE above).
Ok, so i'm going to put in a slight warning here, in terms of actually installing the app, this one is slightly more work than the others I have mentioned. It's still nothing to challenging though, I promise!
To get AppBar. The first thing you are going to need to do is install the Xposed Framework. You can get it here:
http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
1) Once, you've installed the apk above you should be greeted with this screen (if you are not, navigate your way to it):
2) Once at the screen above, press Install/Update and let it do its thing.
3) Reboot phone.
4) Once you've rebooted, go back into the Xposed installer and press the tab on the top left of the screen.
5) Select 'Download' from the drop down menu which appears. You should be landed at this screen:
6) Scroll down until you find XBlast Tools and install the correct version for whatever version of android you are running.
7) Press on the entry and hit download.
8) Once it's finished you will get a notification which says something along the lines of 'Xposed module is not active yet'
9) Open your notification bar and press on the notification.
10) You will end up at this screen:
11) Press the check box to the right of XBlast Tools [1.8.0]
12) Reboot.
Once you've rebooted you should see a new icon in your app draw called XBlast Tools, open it.
1) Scroll down to the entry AppBar .
2) Enable it using the slider.
3) To set up what you want in you appbar content go to 'Setup Appbar content'
4) You will be taken to this screen:
5) Drag and drop apps into the bar on the left
6) You can adjust the trigger position, height, width and transparency using the sliders on the first screen.
Note: Thanks to femblack (Riyajudeen Mohamed yousuf) for XBlast tools if you which to support him you can buy XBlast tools from the Playstore here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ind.fem.black.xposed.mods
Flash a custom kernel.
NOTE: You must have a custom recovery installed (Dont have one? Check the top of this thread )
Ok, well there are quite a few reasons why to install a custom kernel. In short (very short) You can install a custom Kernel for one of these 3 reasons.
1) To improve battery life. (Undervolting)
2) To improve performance. (Overclocking)
3) Fancy features such as double tab screen to wake device (My personal favorite). Swipe across screen to sleep device etc etc.
Installing a custom kernel is actually remarkably easy especially thanks to the developers who have included AROMA installers. All you have to do is put the zip file on your SDcard boot into recovery and follow the on screen instructions.
For the purpose of this post i'm going to point you towards the ElementalX as it is the Kernel I am currently running and I have had no issues with it personally. it is also incredibly easy to set up and seems like it would serve as a good starting point for newcomers. You can find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519607 (Thanks to flar2)
Please note that this is far from the only option when it comes to kernels its just the easiest in my opinion. if you want to see more kernels for the Nexus 5 and decide for yourself have a browse around this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development
IMPORTANT: When flashing any custom kernel you must be sure you have the right build for whatever base you are running. Some ROMs are CM based others are AOSP based and so on. ALWAYS CHECK FIRST.
Thats it for now everyone! Hope this thread is of some use. Plan to add information on HALO and MultiWindow when possible as well as a few other things.
More to come!
[RESERVED
Quite nice thread for newcomers, and it might, as it grows, be a go-to for those of us who have been rooted for ages in case we forgot about some of the stuff we can do/achieve with root
One question though, why not use the features included in Rom Toolsbox Pro, since you're already using it. I has a root explorer, if you swipe once to the left in the main menu, you'll get to a Build.prop editor and one more swipe will bring you to the Boot Animations "switcher". Think about it
Nice thread, changing dpi is the first thing i do when i root, but I don't think its appropriate to call that "changing the screen resolution" , we are simply changing dpi, not resolution.
I like where this thread is going, thanks for your time just adding my support. I'm rooted. Flashed Faux Kernel but still stock. I'm still waiting for AOKP or Paranoid put out their hand even more.
Used to run carbon on my n4. But I'm just neat picky about by clock position, battery icon, toggles *torch, extended boot menu and Navbar. My main reasons I used custom ROMs.

Honestly there is no real reason not to this, I just learnt how to do it the old fashioned way first and old habits and all that. Also the above method can be done for free using any root explorer whereas for ROM toolbox you have to pay. Also i've found that using ROM toolboxes boot animations are quite often not scaled to fit the screen properly!

Nice thread, changing dpi is the first thing i do when i root, but I don't think its appropriate to call that "changing the screen resolution" , we are simply changing dpi, not resolution.

I'm also a fan of doing things manually, so no arguing there
My though was that, when being a noob at all of this, there's a lot to handle, a lot of words and a lot of tools to use. Rom Toolbox gathers a lot of options in a single app, and might simplify things for the slow learning newcomer.
You could also teach him to set his kernel using scripts, but using an app like Trickster og System Tuner simplifies things, a lot!

That's a great idea! Ill add it as soon as I get time
And yeah, you're right it is a lot to take in at first I suppose, I am trying my best to make the thread as simple as possible though I promise! i'm also planning on adding how to backup applications and accounts as well as how to dual boot multiple ROMS at some point. But yeah ROM Toolbox really is a a great tool. I may add a section dedicated just to the main features on that as well

And you're doing a great job so, the OP has really grown a lot in just a couple of days.
A couple of suggestions:
1. You might wanna consider making an index, since this thread is going to grow a lot and it might end up being hard to get an overview.
2. How about a dedicated Xposed section since the possibilities with this are almost endless?
I know all of this takes time, so just get to it as you see fit. Keep up the good work

Hey Thanks for such informative thread, I subscribed to your thread and look forward to learn more.
I am interested in changing the DPI of my phone especially to the level that is on Samsung Note 2. This is purely because of the game 8 ball pool from Miniclip as the game looks different on Note 2 and different on N5. Do you have any idea what is the DPI of Note 2 v/s our phone.
Thanks.

Yeah well the Note 2's DPI is set at 320 by default, but the general consensus seems to be 240 DPI looks sharpest on that phone. Bare in mind the Note 2 has a 5.5" screen though which is somewhat larger than the Nexus 5 so it may not work quite so well for you, give it ago though! Would be cool to see what you think, like I said i struggle to tolerate anything lower than 340 myself but its all personal prefrence
Thanks to joyo22 for the information. Thread is here:

I solved just this moment. First you want to uninstall EASY CHART AND IDEA SKETCH IN SETTINGS>APPS...
Next you want to head over to apkmirror and download the latest versions of both those apps.
DO NOT INSTALL THEM YET OR YOU WILL MESS THE WHOLE PROCESS UP AND HAVE TO START OVER...
IN BOTH THE PLAY STORE AND SAMSUNG APPS.. TURN OFF AUTO UPDATE APPS. THIS IS A MUST SINCE YOU WILL NOT BE UPDATING SNOTE EVER AGAIN . ?
Make sure you have S-note version 5.2.04.25 because it's the version I'm using with Easy Chart and Idea Sketch and also got Action Memo working (no overlap or freezing but no double tap launching either). Uninstall any other version of Snote and install the above version from apkmirror. If your Samsung cloud account is running all your notes and stuff will return. Do an account back up in settings anyway.
From the Play store download APK Editor Free version and install just THIS APK FROM PLAYSTORE and from this link below download APK Editor Pro (paid version) for Free But DO NOT INSTALL. JUST DOWNLOAD.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...DApsQFgg9MAg&usg=AOvVaw3Y7Lp5lAlGG6jNmq-HPyfa
Next.. head over to apkmirror and download the latest versions of Easy Chart 1.5.10 and Idea Sketch 1.5.11. Both were headed to target Nougat 7.0. After download REMEMBER DON'T INSTALL THESE TWO APPS. Apk editors will handle that.
Now.... that everything is ONLY DOWNLOADED EXCEPT APK EDITOR FREE VERSION SHOULD BE THE ONLY APP INSTALLED,
install S-note version 5.2.04.2,
install the expansion pack if you don't already have it installed. ( Head over to Apkmirror if needed)
Open APK EDITOR FREE...... NOW CLOSE IT .
Install APK EDITOR PRO...
SELECT apk file (very first button)
Go to where apk Easy Chart 1.5.10 was downloaded click it
A menu pops up... select FULL EDIT
At the bottom press the Manifest icon (looks like a greyed out Microsoft logo)
Now you will see the THIRD LINE ...SDK Version = "21" android:targetS.......CLICK THIS LINE
NOW... in the top box change that number to "24" and the bottom number to "25". You will this change of the MIN and TARGET numbers the same if you're doing Idea Sketch after you complete this. Do it the exact same way.
Click SAVE
In the upper right corner toy will see BUILD... PRESS IT
It's rebuilding that Easy Chart Apk to meet the systems v verified API25 android 7.0 platform.
You get a big green check... PRESS INSTALL
Then press done...
Open S-Note ... create new note... insert.... the Easy Chart icon is there.. PRESS IT and boom... select the you're options to start your charts..
Repeat this method for Idea Sketch. Enjoy
Also Action Memo Short cut from the Playstore works better with S-note version 5.2.04.2 with full functioning link to action icons. Enjoy
Really really epic. Will try this!
Ps. Do you know where to put clipart to make them show up in the "add images/other "illustration"
Ps. Got it workin. Man you amazing! Will it disapear next system update or to oreo?

No not at all. Just what ever you do, DON'T UPDATE S-NOTE...
---------- Post added at 07:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:23 PM ----------
NOW... if only I was able to post the screen shots on here. Everyway is super not simple lmfao.. :silly:
Sorry for the numbering on the images due to memorizing early in morning trying to keep track of my own steps.

Clipart ... you mean illustration icon..which has CLIPART and SHAPE?
And as far as the Oreo update, most likely it will remain the same since it isn't a direct S-NOTE UPDATE.
Yes, the illustration buttdon. Would be useful if we could import some vector files where it looks for the illustration.

That's an awesome idea. I think it can be done from either Autoshape Icon, Clipboard, Gallery and Scrapbook. Download SCRAPBOOK v1.7.14
First of all thank you for the method. I have applied all the steps. Idea sketch works flawlessly, but easy chart not. When I insert a chart, chart options appear, but when I choose one of them, s note is stopped. Any suggestion is apprecieted.

I could not get that version functioning. I even edited the apk same as the other apps to 24-25 but it just crashes upon launch. Plz help.
Ok everyone. Happy thanksgiving and I'm working on it right now. I see the problem and I'm on it. Give me one hour working on it on my personal Note 8 and we will be up and running together on the same page. I got you all. And scrapbook seemed to stop at together so I'm going to recheck everything from scratch and repost. Thank you.
Also tell me what is your Android build everyone. Mines updated to 7.1.1. Was 7.0. .... wait.... found the issue.
We will be using this link: www.apkmirrordownload.com
1) uninstall the following: (don't worry. We will be reinstalling everything back. I'm doing as I write)
S-note
Easy Chart
Idea Sketch
Photo Note
S-note Expansion pack
Scrapbook
S-note widget
NOW!!!!....using the link www.apkmirrordownload.com
We will reinstall all 7 apks. DO NOT OPEN ANY APK AFTER YOU INSTALL THEM.
From the link www.apkmirrordownload.com
Download the following apks:
>**Easy Chart "1.5.11"
>**Expansion Pack "1.0.18"
>**Idea Sketch "1.5.11"
>**Photo note "4.2.00"
S-Note "5.2.04.25"
>**Scrapbook "16.1.06"
S-Note Widget "1.1.25"
DO NOT change S-NOTEWidget and S-NOTE
Follow the same procedure with APK EDITOR PRO with changing the SDK MIN: to 24 and the Target SDK: to 25
THE ONLY APKS YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHANGE ARE: S-NOTE AND S-NOTE WIDGET.
Remember.......DO NOT UPDATE S-NOTE
EVEN YOUR ACTION MEMO SHORT CUT IS STILL WORKING. DON'T TOUCH IT
AWESOME NOTE HD OR ANOTE HD I Added in the image because I used it forever and works better on the Note 8 because of our huge screen size. ?
Enjoy and feel free to hit me up.
Here's some more images
Thank you for your efforts. But, the easy chart still crashes. My android version is 7.1.1 too, by the way.
What I have done:
downloaded the 7 files,
disabled samsung and googleplay updates,
intalled (but not open) s note, than s note widget,
modified the sdk numbers using apk editot pro for the rest of the files and instaled them,
run the s note, did not allow to apply,
created a note,
tried to add a chart,
selected one of the chart styles,
s note crashed.
Wierd i got everything to work even easychart. But not scrapbook. I will try again with the new procedure this eavning.

Everything sounds good except.... go to settings> apps...and check each one to see if you enabled all permissions in S-Note

Good to hear. I haven't updated it and did the exact same thing as I laid it out. Definitely try again. I took a screen shot of the version I'm using. Hopefully this helps.

Unfortunatelly, still crashes, although I enabled all permissions in settings>apps for S-note and the others.

Weird. I don't seem to see how it keeps crashing on you. I'm double checking my method how I did it now.
One possible explanation is you might be still using apkmirror link from the First method. My apologies is so.
Use the second method: NOT Apkmirror.com and then look for download in the menu...this is the Wrong method.
All apps dealing with this: (1) Force stop, (2) clear cache, (3) clear data and (4) uninstall.
Easy Chart
S-note
S-note Expansion pack
Idea Sketch
S-note Widget
Photo Note
Scrapbook
Use this link: www.apkmirrordownload.com and use second method.
The right link to use is www.apkmirrordownload.com
This is the wrong link for this specific procedure.
