how to verify that one is having 32gb? - Moto X Q&A

I am buying a used ATT 32GB Moto X.
I see 11.xxGB internal storage. Does that mean it's actually 16GB instead of 32GB ?
Btw, any way to know the manufacture date of a Moto X ?
Thanks.

Settings>Storage should show you total device storage space. As for manufacture date, not sure if you could find it in the software. May have to look how to convert a model/other info number to a date.

total space is 11.88GB... Does that mean it's 16GB version?

Yup, that's the size of the storage unit after formating. A 32GB version should have a total size of 26.33GB

[Expired] Free 50GB Box Cloud Storage Service to LG Phones & Tablets

Heads up to our newer LG Revolution owners that Box is offering 50GBs free cloud storage. Install the Box for Android app from the market onto your LG, open the Box app, and create your account with the app.
The offer expires on 12/31/12, so don't daddle. More details on this promotion at Box.
What's the catch to getting so much free storage? They limit the file size you can upload to 100MB, if I am not mistaken. I have been using Box for Titanium Backup for a year now, and just recently have I hit this limit.
Edit 12/15/12: Verified that the limit is 250MB per file. Not bad.
Edit 1/4/13: Offer expired. Title updated.

[Q] How much storage space is available on a brand new Moto X?

How much storage space is available to us on a brand new device (both the 16GB and 32GB options)?

i heard the stock OS uses 6.5GB. if that is correct it would be 9.5GB and 25.5GB of free space.
I'm not sure where you got that number from. Even on the nexus 4 or 7, pure stock takes up only around 3.5-4.0GB. From the MotoX my friend has, it showed 11.88Gb of 16Gb right out of box. There isn't any bloat at all except for two att apps that can be disabled, but it requires a little extra space than pure stock due to the moto apps.
That number came from a Verizon x
And the x isn't a nexus, so it is definitely larger than a N4 or N7

Not being a nexus doesn't change the fact that it is close to pure stock as you get with just the moto apps added in. MotoX doesn't add any of the stuff Samsung or HTC does like the bloaty touchwiz or sense ui.
The 11.88gb number is from an att unit. But that doesn't mean the 2gb difference is due to carriers. I'm betting that guy installed his other apps on there before reporting that number.
Oh trust me, Verizon bloatware is pretty horrifying

Active notifications is an app, so it falls under the app category, not system OS. Again, the motoX also has active notifications, so the app isn't going to magically use 2GB more space on the maxx. But I noticed you have 32GB that could account for the difference since larger internal storage reserves more space for more general formatting than a 16GB.
Before I loaded my games and apps I had about 12gb of free space on my X

[Q] 16GB Moto G 2014?

Has anyone been able to purchase the 16GB model? I know the Moto website shows 179.99 price without having an option to choose 8GB or 16GB. Now that amazon has listed the new model it turns out that the 179.99 is for the 8GB model. So I was wondering if anyone was able to avail of the 16GB model.
The 16 gig model is $229.00, I think. I'm not sure.

That the global version?
I didnt see a 16GB version on Motorola.com
In India only 16 GB moto g 2014 is available in flipkart. May be it is yet to be released globally.

Interesting, does the 16 GB also have a mSD slot? In the U.S. only 8 GB SKUs are available.
Yes.. 16 GB moto g 2014 also has mSD card slot.. Up to 32 GB....

I personally don't see the point of 16GB when you have a microSDHC slot. At least for me that works just the same and it's much cheaper for the extra space (meaning price per gigabyte). I just got a 32 GB card for about 20 euros (and I picked a reasonably fast one too, there are way cheaper out there).

Possibly.. Its firmware is retaildsdsall or else you could flash the modem files from a UK model... I dunno.. Might work.
The reverse has worked for me. I flashed the UK firmware, lost signal and then regained the cellular signal by flashing only the modem files of the RetailDSDSall version.
Hope this helps, but i wouldn't advise it as it would be difficult for updates and other related stuff
yes indian model XT1068 have 16GB and mSD slot

Any confirmation on microSD slot?

This is huge for me. I really really wanna get this phone, but having an sd slot is crucial for me. This thing is a beast. I've been looking everywhere but can't seem to find any info on whether this will have it. If anyone has an info that in not aware of please let me know. Any speculation on whether it will or not? Please, please, please!!! Tell me it will!!!!

32GB internal storage only. No flagship (non-moto G/E) Moto phone during the Google era has had an SD slot. None of the "Google" phones do and as the Motorola line has basically been unofficial Nexus devices for the past year or so... No SD slot. They want you to use Drive if you need additional storage. I know that's not ideal for many due to connectivity/bandwidth issues but alas, that's what they want.
Many of the ISP-Branded Machines doesn't have an SD card slot.
I hate not having external storage myself. I like to keep my media on it (ringtones, notifications, music, etc) and when I flash its already there and when I change phones moving it is as simple as moving the sd card. Nowadays with cheap storage having to download something which I could already have on my own phone and available instantaneously is in my mind a step backwards without even considering the fact that the data doesn't exist without a connection and there are still plenty of holes in coverage where I'm from. It isn't that I don't like cloud storage, I do for certain data, but not for all of it.
But yes, the fellow is correct, Goog and the Fruit are both working very hard to make sure they have access to as much of our data as possible. Screw the people, the boy wonders want the champagne on the corporate jet to flow vigorously because everyone knows more money than you can ever spend in a lifetime just isn't enough. Long live corporate greed.
No SD card.
will have 32gb and 64gb internal memory.
