Hi guys, I wanted to try the Google play edition ROM and I have between doing some research but I'm still a bit confused.. Is there any difference in using the RUU method (which looks much more complicated) and just flashing bigxie's GPE ROM? Which is easier and better? Hope u guys can answer my questions and thanks in advance..

Dont accept OTA if you install a custom GPE rom, specially if you are S-ON.
On RUU you can install OTA

Isn't bigxie's Rom is totally stock GPE so it's ok to install OTA?

No it is not. Custom roms are not meant for OTA>. You can update on your peril.

Hi, friends! Can I push any custom GE ROM on my HTC One UK only with root? I have stock JB 4.2.2 and 1.54 HBOOT. I'm S-On too... I need to install new HBoot, Recovery, blah blah, blah or not? Many thanks!

If you want only the rom, you can flash this
If you want a fully GE One, you have to flash the firmware, the room etc...
I installed the SinLess GE ROM and followed the normal flash process. DL the ROM zip onto your phone, using TWRP recovery I did a normal wipe, installed the ROM and worked like a charm. I was rooted and unlocked, not s-off.
Now make sure to do the TWRP backup, its key to being able to get back to where you were. I've used it a few times and it works like a charm.
Hope this helps.

Why are you hanging out here bro? Head over to the Sprint forums!
Anyway, dont do that! Why not flash OMJ's ROM? There are a couple of bugs, I believe, but they're probably minor.

Anyway, the only req for taking update is stock recovery. And stock ROM, of course. You can flash the stock recovery.
No need to RUU or relock boot loader.
I have a HTC one recently soffed using 'rumrunner'. It's a wwe htc_001 on 2.24.401.8. What rom's can I flash will it change anything I have on phone at present all I want really is stock Rom with bloatware removed better battery life. Thanks

Flashing custom ROM does not flash firmware.
And since you're S-Off you can flash any firmware you like, check our @vomer's guide: (in the firmware section): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
Ok what's the risk... I'm running Android revolution ver 31. I haven't updated my firmware. I'd prefer not to have to flash a whole different ROM to gain S-off if in can avoid it. I know it's recommended to be on same firmware and ROM base, but what's the risk of just S-offing like I am?

But, wait, you have the s-off or not?
And what do you want do?

No I don't have it yet but I'm running a ROM based on 3.62xxxx firmware but haven't updated my firmware to that yet because I don't have soff.
Wondering if I'm running a risk with ROM and firmware not matching when I attempt to soff.

Yep, you need to be on the same base, and the closest possible to your own rom. Just restore your stock nandroid and you'll be good to go

in thinking that to install official ota update on unlocked/rooted device, I ONLY need to re flash the stock recovery ? It's on ARHD at the moment so is basically a stock Rom.
Thanks

No, you only get OTA if you are completely stock, a stockish rom is not enough. also root will mostly break ota applying, and ur on a custom rom...
