/storage/emulated please enlighten me up - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

guys,
does your phone have this also?
mine has 848mb free space, (image1)
and it differs from internal storage free which has 7gig free (image2)
and external sd with 4.6gig free (image3)
cause i have a problem on the reading of the free mb on internal storage on my pc (6gig free) and my phone (7gig free). (image 4 and 5)
well i can still copy files to internal sdcard but once the reading on my pc reach 0mb but when in fact i still have 1gig free on phone i cant copy
data. so what i did is copy on external sdcard and with root explorer move the files to internal memory.
another problem is that when the pc reads my internal memory to 0mb i cant import contacts cause it says full memory.
when in fact that i still have 1gig memory.
i have this problem on .290, .257 and .534 firmware
but the difference in reading is decrease from .290=1gig, .257=600mb, and .534=200mb (pc vs.phone reading).

Internal Storage Issue

Hi,
my internal storage is not showing correct size.
i have 2Gb of data on internal memory and it says 700Mb of free space instead of 1.8Gb
Does windows use this space ?? How can i use that space ?
Thanks
I assume you deleted some files (or so you might have thought) and these no longer show up somehow. I had this problem once. If you backup the stuff you want to keep and then use Pocket Mechanic to format your internal storage and then put back your backup stuff, you should find the storage size is now correct.
is it that if i delete a file through my PC (Disk mode) the phone doesnt know about it and assume it to be occupied.
will try it out if i dont find option other then formatting my internal memory.

Problem with storage memory- please help

i am trying to install microsoft voice cokmmand but i get the message '' Unable to install Voice Command to due to insufficient mermory. Installation to main memory is recommended. the device space available is 2134 KB and the storage card space available is 5095456 KB . Voice command is about 4 MB i am trying to install it to the storage card since the main memory space isn't enough. Why am i getting tis message? Since there is space avilable on storage card why the storage memory isn't enough?
P.S. here some statistics about my memory:
Storage: Total: 281.71 MB, In use: 279.69MB, Free: 2.02MB
Program: Total: 200.48 MB, In use: 61.13MB, Free: 139.35MB
Storage Card
Total Storage Card memory: 7782.50 MB, In use: 2806.47MB, Free: 4976.03MB

is the storage memory different that the storage card memory? ALL the apps i have installed i installed them in the storage card NOT the device memory... i think that the storage memory is the device memory..or am i wrong? since i have 5GB free space on memory card, then why when i choose am program to be installed on the storage card i get the message of no storage memory?
Some programs, when you choose to install to storage card, still install to the phone's main memory...unfortunately.
Go to File Explorer and see what programs are installed in your phone and what are installed on your storage card. Then whatever programs are installed on your phone I would reinstall to see if they will move to your storage card. If not, then they only work on your phone memory.
I recommend you urgently to free up some space in your device memory. Approximately 2 MB of free space is clearly insufficient to run your Xperia proberly. There are still almost 100 MB free in my device storage because I installed everything that does not depend on speed (like video players) or is system critical onto the storage card. You surely dont need 100 MB of free device memory but at least 10 to 20 MB should be there I think.
For example your current problem: When you install a program the system needs to write some temporary files or if you install the program directly from your desktop it even copies the program to the device memory first. Thats also the case if you install a program to your storage card. So make sure to always have some internal storage left.

How does Android deal with Internal storage?

I came from an Optimus One with measly internal storage. I never bothered with it though since it would not mount when I connect to usb and I always used link2sd to expand my internal memory. But now with my Droid Bionic, I am running out of space on the internal memory and I can't seem to force the apps to use external memory.
Example: When I used to download manga on my O1, it usually went directly to external storage. Now I have to set it to download to external before downloading anything. This is a minor problem since it can be moved...
Example2: Apps that install to Android/data on the internal memory. How do I get these apps to install to external data only? I'm running out of space now. I see no option to move data to external memory... There are 2 Android/data folders I can see though. One in external and another in internal. Can I move the folder to external directly?

internal storage can't be accessed by some apps and unable to move apps to it

hi,
after upgrading to ICS, i was trying some apps and when the 2GB were about to end i tried moving some apps to sd (internal storage of the note) but i failed, it says not enough space (there is more than 4GB free)
and now after updating some games with big files that was stored on the internal memory the games can not access these files one of them says extraction files failed, check external storage.
so how can i move apps to the internal memory? and why is this happening ?
and if i get a 16gb sd card how can i transfer the files on the internal memory to it while keeping all apps settings and everything as is ?

available internal storage issue

This is odd. Trying to figure out why I'm running low on space, I go to the Storage section of Settings. Looking at the amount of storage by type, the system is counting storage on the sd card against internal storage. For instance, the system says there are 1.2GB of photos and videos. All of those files are on the sd card but they are counted in the internal stored storage setting. When I go to Settings/Storage/Internal Shared Storage/Photos & Videos, it says Google Photos is using 523 MB. In actuality 97.61 MB is the app in internal storage and 424 MB is data (photos) on the sd card. Same thing with Lightroom Mobile: it says it occupies 659 MB of internal storage, but in reality 133 MB is the app on internal storage and 546 MB of user data, which is definitely on the sd card. That means the 1.2GB on the sd card is counted against internal storage.
Any idea what's going on or how to fix it?
