First off I'm not a total "Newb" with kindles, but am new to root/restoring KDF's. That said here's my problem: bought on eBay a bricked KDF HD to restore, did some reading got some root/restore programs, made a Factory/FastBoot cable, but cant get the computer to recognize the kindle in fastboot. The first gen KDF HD 7" (3rd gen fire) behavior: kindle logo flashes once shimmers slow once then shimmers fast and will do so till battery is dead.
That said. The problem I cant overcome is that windows does not recognize and fails to load drivers (which i did get the most up to date ones) so i cant get any of the root/restore programs find the KDF.
Please, this is my last hope before i have to shell out more cash to have someone else fix it, and if they cant i still shell out cash

Use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 if your tablet stays in fastboot, you're good to run the bat . You can set an environment path with the sdk package but the bat tool will push the images for you.

Hello Guys!
I currently own a Kindle Fire 7" HD 7.4.6(Rooted) but I have a little problem getting my kindle to show up on 'My Computer' (Trying to transfer some music to my device) I have looked everywhere for this one specific question that I cant find an answer to hopefully it could be solved here... Anyways before my device was rooted Windows couldn't detect the device plugged in but here is the confusing part after I found out about rooting, I went on to try to do it and I managed to successfully root the kindle (following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351201) installed the ADB drivers and yes "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31" program did detect my Kindle and rooted it which is weird because I mean Windows couldnt detect my kindle but that program did? I can plug in my kindle and it is detected as an ADB and even shows up in my device manager, but my question is, how do I get my kindle to be recognized so I can manage it (i.e. adding music/pictures) Another weird thing is that yes my kindle is detected but you know the sound that Windows makes when you plug something in via USB? Well when I plug in my kindle that sound is different I dont know if it has anything to do with this problem... Well that is my question hopefully someone will come to save the day!
Is the kindle listed under portable devices in the device manager?

Plug your Kindle Fire HD in to USB port. Go to your device management. Look for the driver that is being detected right now. Right click on it and click and choose properties. Click to uninstall the driver. Now unplug the KFHD and plug it back in. Let the driver install. This should fix it. Restarting your computer after uninstalling the driver might be tried as well. removing the root hubs is sometimes necessary as well.
Hi,
I'm afraid I bricked my new Kindle Fire HD 7''. Completely. After Rooting I tried to install CM using this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848
Everything went smooth (no errors, all commands successful) until "fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot". The Kindle shut down after that. And never came back. The screen stays off (no backlight), no USB device is detected by Windows after plugging it in. Tried with factory and standard cable. Executing "fastboot [anthing]" always displays < waiting for device >.
Is there any help for my device? I've almost given up...
It is dead. What version was it, the 2012 or 2013 HD? Because the 2013 HD didn't have a bootloader that was exploitable and had no ROMs for it because of that, so by downgrading the bootloader on that model to the 2012's it would hard brick it. If it was the 2012 model and you had this happen I would guess you didn't verify the md5sum of the bootloader before flashing it. The only hope of fixing it is if someone posts the pin out for the emmc so you could solder the motherboard to sdcard reader and flash it from a PC running Linux. Its been done on the kf2 and hd8.9 so you can always hope someone posts it. Don't bother with looking into trying to flash it with USB shorting trick, it only works on the kf1 because of signed file we would need and don't have. Sorry if this sounds a bit pessimistic, I just thought I'd mention things that don't work and things that could in the future.

Oh sh**. It's the latest model. I somehow missed the information, that CM only runs on the 2012 model. Rooting worked great, by the way...
I haven't even heard any talk about kurohyou checking out a kfhd 2013's board to trace contacts, only some talk of the 2012 7" HD, usually the tracing process is more than likely going to ruin the board unless you are good at re-balling a emmc chip without a ir soldering station(toaster oven fun time). Since its pretty new I would assume amazon would replace it under warranty. Just tell them it won't turn on. Wouldn't mention trying to flash it.

Have you tried to use the Amazon warranty? Just want to know if that would be a possbility to try some risky things with the kindle.
thank & greets
Hi everybody,
bricked my device to the point that it does not boot/react at all. Screen stays black.
Wanted to usb boot the device with FireKit following the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430038
but my pin layout is different from the picture in the instructions. Could find any more up to date infos.
Attached a picture of my board with version info .
Any help on how to usb boot (short cut) the device and replace the boot loader is appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Not the right kit. Can't just use whatever on your KFHD7.At best you can get a fastboot cord and see it the tablet energizes from that. If it does then you may be able to use this tool on the forums for the Soho that can restore stock. If the fastboot cord does not energize the tablet then it's a paper weight. There is no emmc pin out link there is for some of the older tablets.

Thanks for the reply. Too bad.
Used the fastboot cord before on this device for rooting.
The cable has no effect, now. The device shows no reaction.
I still wondering what that pins/label "USB boot" are for.
They are for amazon who has a signed aboot so they can actually reflash the device using the method you are talking about, unfortunately we don't have a signed aboot, so that method doesn't work.

Thanks. Guess I have a new cutting board for the kitchen then...
If you wait long enough someone might have a pinout. I could attempt to figure it out myself but the kindle that goes through the process will more than likely never work again because it involves desoldering the emmc which is balled onto the PCB, unsoldering with a toaster oven is doable however resoldering it with a toaster oven is another story again. I Don!t particularly feel like mapping out points anyways, I get the feeling my test leads are too big cp for the job anyways.

Having spent two days on this I must ask for help please. I'm an Android novice.
Kindle FireHD 7" stuck on animated white and orange Fire HD splash screen.
I have purchased a Fastboot cable and it boots into, and is recognised in, Fastboot.
It's seen in Windows 7 Device Manager as Kindle Fire - ADB Composite device.
All seems OK, but here's the problem:
I can't get it to be recognised by ADB - 'No Device Detected'
The files that I think I need are in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848
however the site hosting the files is defunct and I can't find them anywhere!
I've managed once or twice to get it to 'Kindle is upgrading - Starting Applications' but it just sits there for hours. I'm starting to wonder if it's a hardware fault?
Could anyone provide me with the files in that thread above and a few pointers please?
Many thanks

Kindle Fire HD 7" 2012 (I think) The one with the shiny stripe across the back
If I remember correctly, adb will not recognize your device when you are connected to fastboot. The only commands you can use are the fastboot commands.
Hey Guys,
I spent today trying to root my Kindle Fire HD 7, 4th gen (i think). After trying for ages it coudnt get it work so i decided to give up. when shutting it down in the recovery mode screen, i hit the power button while it was over the option reboot bootloader or something like that.
Now the Kindle will not turn and when i plug it into my pc, it is showing as an HTC Dream.
What i want to know have i broken it completely or is there away i can undo what i have done.
I updated my fire to os 5 and my windows operating system is 10.
