Go to c:\flashtool\firmwares\ and delete "prepared" folder. - That's only firmware files prepared every time for flashing.
Restart your PC and open flashtool (right click and open it as administrator.
Make sure you have at least 1Gb of free space on your disk where's flashtool is located.

Reread and try again, which shouldn't need prompting.

I used to have the same issue last week and I finally succeed respecting the step by step from Androxyde.
One Advice : Try to redownload the FTF fiel or try another one (from another country).
I personnaly had succeess using the FTF from UK (and I am from another country) and no issue at all.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Help How to flash stock rom

Guys please help
I flashed a custom rom and it got a lil messed up..
I've downloaded an ftf file but I have no idea on how to flash it.
I havent made any backup,my bad.
I'm using C5302
If you look a bit futher you will see a easy guide made by me about how to get back to stock without the use of flash tool
You have to download flashtool to flash an ftf file if you don't have any backup you lose your data but once you flash the ftf you're going to be fine
If you haven't unlocked your bootloader you can also use Sony's update service (SUS) to restore your phone.

yes i did. it was successful. i just got problems when fast boot flashing boot.img, idk what happened -_- huhu really want my sp back
In recovery (if you can enter that) perform a wipe /system and flash again This should fix most bootup issues.

If you still have recovery , boot into recovery, mount usb and copy ROM from your PC.
Flash ROM and restart...
If you don't have recovery, use flashtool to flash ftf. (534) root it and then upgrade to 761 (latest firmware)
BTW, your device isn't bricked, there's missing system, that's all...
And yeah...that wasn't stupid at all...this things happens and, if you ask me- TWRP team should change that wipe options...
It's not well made...
First option should be only cache wipe and advanced should have format data and system option...

First of all, thanks for taking the time to reply.
I tried booting to recovery but it wont. Its stuck in the sony logo. I guess ill go with option 2(flashing ftf)
is it ok if I flash the ftf then NOT root it?
I found a guide how to flash an ftf file in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428319
is this guide applicable for the z1 too?
Thank you

You are welcome mate
Yeap...
One thing is very important - use latest flashtool..and everything will be OK.
You'll be surprised how easy that is...
Flash firmware 534 (JB)
Turn device off, open flashtool and prepare 534 firmware, start flashing and connect device (holding vol down) connect device when flashtool ask for it, don't do that right away...
root it with binary method (just Google" binary root method xda") first link is what you need.
Install NUT recovery.
Restart to recovery, flash NUT 757, TURN DEVICE OFF!!!
And flash stripped ftf (that's kernel)
It's very important to turn device off, don't restart. (to flash stripped ftf)
I always practice to hit flashtool "start" button and wait for flashtool to ask for device, that's is the best way to be 100% sure your device won't leave flashmod

Well yeah...I just said that..
If you don't want to root then don't root it, just flash firmware.
I would flash latest firmware but if you are sure you'll get 757 or 761 OTA update then you can flash older firmware...

btw. will it cause any problems if the phone has a custom recovery(twrp)?

Man, I asked you do you still have recovery and you said no?!?
Use recovery to flash stock based ROMs like NUT or iHackers, flashtool or pc companion to flash stock unrooted firmware.
It won'tbe a problem if you have twrp (recovery), it'll wipe everything...
We are talking for a two hours and you are asking same question over and over again...
I wanna help but come on....

It doesn't have to
Turn the phone off, do not attach it to the PC
Run pccompanion, choose software update
When prompted choose the blue option to repair the phone, go through the instructions and attach phone in flashmode when prompted

[Q] Z1 Hard Reset

I have a Z1 and it's not mine and the owner forgot the pattern , and I can't open it in recovery mode (on and pressing vol+ several times and btw no led blink) .
can't connect to PC Companion because I need to unlock it, and flash tools says locked phone detected.
Any ideas?
UPDATE
since the support zone don't want to be installed I installed the Update Service and it worked.
but is there anyway to this from the phone or I need to this everytime ?

You have to use SUS uf you can't access device and developer options in it.
Enable USB debugging in developer options and you'll be able to use it if that happens again.
Also, you can root device and install recovery, backup ROM and just restore backup if you need it.
But really....how many times you think he will forget his unlock pattern?

You can try to get recovery and install another rom, wiping out the old. Then get an ftf and flash it? This only works if the phone has an unlocked bootloader. Since you can't access the recovery, you'll have to flash a kernel.

NO, flashing FTFs and rooting and installing recovery specifically does NOT require an unlocked bootloader

Well he said flashtool detected the phone as being locked so I'm guessing he can't flash any ftf. He also said he can't access recovery. I don't know if it's possible to reflash recovery so I went with installing another kernel which needs an unlocked bootloader. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

Yes flashing a custom kernel requires an unlocked bootloader. But flashtool reports the status of the bootloader when you attach it, however, it will always be able to flash a FTF regardless of the status of the bootloader.

Yes, the phone should be off powered off (And entering flashmode which does not need to unlock the phone) when flashing FTFs
Just think, if you have a passcode on it and try to flash a FTF, when does it ask you to enter the passcode?
