Two days ago i rooted my phone with VRoot, but now after i tried to install a new app i found, it said i couldn't and then i went to settings, checked Unknown sources, but after i back it is no longer checked, also some apps are crashing randomly.
One thing i did was using the Market enabler/DroidVPN method to unlock the us play store only to find out it does not work, i would say after i did this my phone started acting all weird
edit: phone is also randomly freezing

My best advice to you is backup your personal data, and reflash with odin, you can also flash custom rom, recovery + kernel with the odin packages supplied by the maclaw team or flash stock .

Hello Guys.
I actually have a problem. I flashed my phone with the firmware which has the bootloader on it. Gingerbread 2.3.3. JVJPG
It worked perfectly for about 2-3 weeks. Then i did something foolish. i forcestopped the 'maps' process . Thought it might free up some RAM.
now after that i continuously been getting the 'maps has been unresponsive and would forced stop' message on the phone. So to get rid of it I flashed the phone against thinking it would reinstall . But no. I kept getting that message after flashing aswell together with OTHER APPS also started giving the message.
i have cleared the cachet and factory reset the phone BUT STILL those APPS remain on the phone. they dont work just continuously gives the force stopped messages. The camera works but doesn't save the pics. Any app i want to d/L . it doesnt install says something about ' package is unresponsive'.
Thankfully the downland mode works. I flashed it yet again with FROYO but now it seem like the whole system has crashed !!
The wierd thing is that APPS dont seem to get uninstalled and no date is lost even after factory reset.
Can anyone help me with this ?
Also even if i uninstall the apps. after restarting the phone. they just remain on the phone !
but don't work
Got the firmware for this thead:

I get the following unresponsive and need to close down messages :
google partner setup
Google services framework
maps
etc.
Also process system is unresponsive.
Flash back to stock firmware, install a kernel with CWM recovery, download your chosen rom, before installing, reboot into recovery, before installing, got to mounts and storage, format system, data, cache and datadata, then wipe dalvik, then install custom rom all should be fine after that let me know bud

Thanks a lot Djice for the reply. I had an inkling that i had to meddle with the kernel now :s
The problem is I have never meddling with the kernel before. Can you help me find a suitable tutorial for all those steps?
I'll search for em as well.
Guys, Any detailed help?
havn't been able to solve the problem still.

ths thread has almost the same , but no replies on what to do
yesterday, I pluged in my charger and started browsing.
at one moment phone freezed, purple led flashed and phone rebooted
after that a lot of apps I had installed are missing. among them are gmail, google search widget, play store, titanium backup, some office from market (can't remember which) ...
and one widget I use can't be loaded on startup but if I remove it and add again it works.
I tried all I can think off except factory reset.
I tried deleting cache, dalvik cache, switched app2sd off (which were on, although I remember leaving it off), fixed permissions from recovery ...
I even reinstalled kernel and ROM and gapps, but no change at all which is really strange.
I use MiniCM7-2.2.0 ROM and 2.6.29.6-nAa-11 kernel
SD card is working, I can browse files and swap is working.
It also seems that rebooting doesn't work well. Sometimes, I choose reboot but it doesn't boot up until I pull out battery and press power button.
I'm not sure if this is connected because I didn't reboot much phone with this kernel and ROM
Any ideas before I wipe data?
Overclocked ?

Apps2sd that's why ur apps r gone. Full wipe and reflash rom. Reboot issue can be fixed with latest flashtool reflash kernel with that. Worked for me no reboot problems no more
Hit thanx if I helped

thank you for fast replies
phone is not overclocked.
I also guess it has something to do with app2SD
but I do not use it.
when I installed ROM I wanted to use Link2SD but it couldn't work because of build in App2SD.
I tried that App2SD but I couldn't control which apps to move, I even didn't exactly understood how it works, so I gave up of it.
Everything worked until yesterday.
and I only browsed internet when this happened. what could go wrong?
Is there a way to fix this before I wipe the whole thing?
I would like to make some backups and for that I need missing apps.
thank you
Oh,
and the strangest thing to me is that even after I reflash gapps, I don't have any google apps (at least which I use) except google talk
Try this:
Root again your phone with SuperOneClick.
Go to Settings >CM Settings >Performance >a2sd, and deactivate it. Then, activate it again.
Reboot.
Hopefully... it will fix your problem (worked for me ).
any particular version of superoneclick I should use? I tried one I have (which I used to root my phone a long time ago) and it fails to root it.
but why do you think I should root again? This is custom room and it is already rooted.
I tried turning on and off app2sd but there's no change, except some files are in one case in sd-ext directory and in other arent. but that are not missing apps :-(
Use the newest version, it will work. If not... use any method to root your phone again and follow the above guide (YES, I know that your ROM is rooted, just do it).
Why you should root again? Well, I already had that problem and all root apps were having problems (I dunno if you are having problems too, try it), so I rooted again my phone and all the problems were solved.
I repeated this with superoneclick 2.3.3 but no difference.
I had to full wipe the phone.
thanks all for suggestions.
EDIT: just to be clear, it did root this time, but no difference about this apps.
Hey all
I've had my vivid for a while, I'm running CM10 with sultan kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39590429). The other day I rebooted my phone and it took longer to boot than usual, it randomly reset itself and I lost everything (luckily I had a backup ). for some reason the kernel had downgraded itself, went from beta 14 to beta 12. I restored it from my backup but then it kept resetting itself, all the while I stayed on beta 12. Now I've decided to start a fresh, reinstalled CM10 to find that its not installing google play, another weird thing is that my kernel wont change, it stays as beta 12 even after following the instructions fully to upgrade. I need the newer kernel because it has some fixes I need. Also I need ideas as to why google play isn't installing. Any help/ideas are appreciated
Thanks in advance

Which version of TWRP ?
latest i believe
The disappearing apps is because of a problem with sultan kernel... it seems to corrupt the file system if you reboot at a certain time... I have no idea what causes it to corrupt
The play store problem is from you doing a full wipe without installing GAPPS...
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
Really? I didn't think CM10 needed gapps. I just tried a standalone install of play store 4.0.26 and it installed, but it just crashes when I try open it
That's cause you need other files from GAPPS for it to work
And the play store MUST be a system app
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
ok thanks, will try that
Trust rignfool he knows what he's talking about lol. And yes you do need gapps for cm10. The only problem with cm10 that I have is very poor in call volume. Since I'm speaking of it. @ rignfool do you know a fix for that? (very low in call volume)

I don't know how this happen but it was previously on JB (slimbean) and I flashed Slimkat. It said it couldn't installation had failed a couple of times, so I did a factory reset and stuff and wiped the phone completely and tried again. The phone flashed correctly this time and I was able to boot into Kitkat, everything was working fine.
But when I tried to install Greenify etc. I found out that I had lost root. I'm not sure how this happened because obviously I was previously rooted otherwise none of this could have worked. I tried flashing another kernel (Mackay) nothing changed. I tried installing SuperSU etc. nothing.
Any ideas why? I just want to be rooted so that I can use the Galaxy S Unlock app to unlock the phone which is my main concern (need it for new sim). If there is any other method to unlock the phone without having to root it would be fine as well as long as I can unlock the phone.
Any ideas?
Thanks

When you flash most of these KitKat ROMs it seems you lose the superuser facility in so doing. Go to Settings>About Phone>Build number .... and press it like 7 times until it says you have developer options. Then go to Developer options and allow root access to apps or apps and ADB depending on your preference.
Then try Galaxy S unlock.
If the unlock doesnt work (and I know some people who say it hasnt) go back to GB 2.3.6 stock, root it with cf-root as usual, and then try unlock there. Then move back up to your kitkat after its unlocked.
Incidentally when moving up to Kitkat be sure to flash fist Cyanogenmod ROM, CM10.2 (or above) to get the new CWM recovery and the correct partition so that the rom works well.
Let us know
Thanks for the response. What I did was flashed semaphore for KitKat using Odin. That did the trick for giving root. Used galaxsim unlock and everything succeeded except for one thing (network lock) but I think that may have been due to there being no Sim in the phone currently.

Thanks man!! I was also worried abt this. Installed SlimKat on my GT-N7000, everything worked ok (still testing) until I wanted root access, I installed SuperSU but it didnt get any response, I even reinstalled the CWM, which screwed my firmware (had to reinstall that too! :silly: )
After pressing "build number" as u said repeatedly, I got the developer options enabled, where I activated root permission. Then SuperSU installed n updated with proper root permission! :good:

Hi, Have tried in last few weeks to update Ace from Gingerbread to Kitkat. Successful but then had overheating and random shutdowns after installing S2E although I have no way of knowing if that was the cause! Then tried to update from within the Ace to RC11. Total failure. Lost menu and back button and keyboard. Tried to go back by reinstalling CM11 but that left me with a setup screen and the message "unfortunately the setup wizard has stopped". Only answer was to use Odin and reinstall official stock kernel. My thanks to brijeshep for that.
So decided to try again but stupidly installed cwm before Upd_1.zip, which would not install from cwm. Used root_cooper.zip (thanks again) and got a success message and phone now rooted. However, "superuser" is not in apps, which it was first time around. How can I check that it is rooted before installing KitKat again?
Any advice on this gratefully received.
Try Root Checker
Tried that! Not enough memory!! Which is why I was trying to root and then install CM11 and S2E. Managed to reinstall stock rom thanks to Odin and then rooted no problem with upd1. Have now installed CM11 running 4.4.4 and will wait a few days before installing any apps apart from gmail and will try S2E if it will work with the 4.4.4. rom.
But thanks anyway for taking the trouble to reply.
ReBoot 1or2

Hi There,
you can download the app called Root Checker.apk to check your root status whether you are rooted or not. And then you can manually installed SuperSu or Super User
