when i compare my XZ to my old htc desire hd, the lowest display brighntes of the DHD is a third of the XZs.
in a dark room the display really flashes you when turning it on. is there any way oder a rom that lowers the minimum display brightness?

Use a app called 'night mode' found in playstore for free.
Or use automatic brightness with minimum brightness.

My screen look really ugly with low brightness...
Is it possible to stop the phone automatically lowering the brightness of the screen when you reach 10% of battery remaining or less?

When someone develops a rom for this phone, can you boost screen brightness in auto? My screen seems so dim next to other android phones I put it next to..

I agree 100%. The automatic brightness is way dimmer than my OG Droid, I finally had to set the screen around 75% but now it's not quite bright enough for sunlight and too bright for nighttime.

Probably intentionally dim out of the box w/auto-brightness to save battery.
Would be cool if you could choose your auto-brightness settings (dim, medium and bright presets?)

agreed... im greatful for how dim it gets because I know it helps with battery, but being able to configure this would be nice as well.
Just used my friend's atrix.. Someone please hack the brightness!

Yeah, I am on board with this too
Screen brightness outside is abysmal
Hey guys just wondering what kind of battery life people are getting with either of the settings on? I keep mine on a manual 50% and the battery seems OK, but I've seen real good reports of people using auto brightness too.

If auto-brightness was a person, i'd punch in the face and kick it out of my house. I use manual brightness, about 40-50%, i get 8-10 hours out of it.
i use auto on n7 and gnex, no battery complaints.

lol... I have similar feelings
I love the auto brightness, but it makes the screen flicker on the N7
But I hate auto brightness on the iphone with a passion!

Normally I'd agree with you, but auto is actually working pretty well on the N7.

Auto seems to get stuck for me. I'll go in a dark room and it lowers brightness, but won't go back up when it gets light. Sometimes it's reversed.

Agree that the auto bright may have some issues. Sitting in a room with TV and a single lamp and the unit dims. Had to switch to manual to read

its supposed to be like that. Its bright in the sun so you can see and dim at night so still visible, but not hurting your eyes
Manual brightness setting on a tablet is good for me, since I use it inside 99% of the time. And I usually keep it fairly low.
On a phone, you really need a GOOD auto-brightness. What looks good inside can cause the screen to be invisible outside. Trying to navigate blind to adjust the brightness manually isn't always easy.
Overall, I would say the N7 has a good auto-brightness control from when I played around with it. Haven't tried outside though.
I like the auto brightness. I trued manual and auto and the auto gives me the same brightness level I would have chosen myself.

I think the auto on the N7 is pretty good BUT I would like the ability to bump it up or down a bit. So whatever the sensor is calling for add or subtract a percentage to it. I like my tablet a bit brighter so I tend to use manual brightness most of the time. That's really the only setting I am missing with the "phone" style UI. I liked that brightness slider was right in the ICS tablet UI menu that popped up. I am getting 8 hours at 50% brightness most of the time.
I thought it looked rather dim with auto; I've been keeping mine on max brightness since shortly after I got it.

I know how it works, but if it brightens up in a light room it doesn't go down in a dark room and ends up searing my eyes like a tuna steak.

Is auto brightness on?
Auto brightness is off. I set the brightness to 10-30% only. How to fix it?

I did noticed that when I open the camera app. Other than that the brightness stays.

When i go settings my brightness become dim and rebrighten slowly than my brother's HTC One(his htc one rebrighten like normal). Is this hardware issues or software issues? :crying:
Hmm interesting I noticed this today when opening a folder on my homescreen. At first I thought it was auto brightness but nope, checked it with power saver off but still had the issue. It seems to be when the brightness is set a little bit under 50% or below. The screen fluctuates a bit and slowy redims. Glad to see I am not the only one, I'd like to see more on this.
Btw any solutions?
there was an app called a brighter note for my note 2 to make my screen a little bit birghter than the stock adjustment. is there such a apk for the note 3 or any plans of one? Please dont start flaming over making the phone brighter. i like the screen to be a bit brighter thats just me.
no one on this? someone has to know how the old brighter note app worked and transfer it to this one
It's 2 completely different software builds. It won't work.

I use Lux Dash since I think it does a better job at controlling auto brightness, but it's a paid app. You have the ability to manually adjust how much higher than 'normal' it is, e.g. always be 5% or 10% brighter than 'normal throughout the entire ambient light range.
Don't know about brighter note app but lux has been working great for me on s3, note2 and now note3.

You people keep saying brighter this and brighter that with lux, which is not the case. Lux does not give you the option to set the brightness any higher than 100%.

If that was what he was asking, then you're right. He phrased it as wanting a bit more brightness than the normal adjustment, which sounded like auto brightness. Lux will let you ramp up throughout the ambient light range faster than stock.
OP - why not contact the original developer of that app and ask whether he can add a Note 3 version? The Note 3 screen is quite a bit brighter and easier to read outdoors IMO than the Note 2 , but I do understand a desire to have a brighter screen.
