DISCLAIMER: You know the drill, I am not responsible if loading this rom makes your Tab melt, explode, disintegrate, or cause harm to anyone near it. (I am fairly certain none of that will happen though )
Change log in second post.
Welcome to The Overcome Experience - 10.1 Edition . For those of you that don’t know me, let me introduce myself. I am AlterBridge86, the creator of The Overcome Experience. I started developing a ROM on the OG Galaxy Tab (P1000) about 9 months ago and have moved on to having my own brand of ROM’s, Kernels, and Recoverys. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P75xx) is the second device now to get a “Overcome Series” ROM, however it will most definitely not be the last.
My mission is simple. I aim to vastly improve the stock user experience on Samsung devices. I think that Samsung makes fantastic hardware, however fails to bring the same level of software quality to their devices. This is where I step in. I take the base rom, as provided by Samsung, and perform further optimization and modification to it. My mods aim not to completely customize the user interface, but rather add some very useful key functionality while retaining the “stock android” look.

However, if you wish to attempt a non-wipe install (ONLY for users already on Overcome), follow these instructions: Prior to rebooting into recovery for install, go into Manage Apps and clear data on launcher. Immediately reboot into recovery using the power menu - DO NOT go back ot the home screen first. Install zip without data wipe. After install completes, wipe cache. Reboot.
If you do NOT have CWM on your device already or you want to start completely fresh, I STRONGLY urge you to read the excellent guide that we have put together to get Overcome installed

At long last, Android 3.2 has come to the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Version 2.0 of the Overcome 10.1 Series ROM marks the first release of the rom based on Android 3.2.
For the P7500, the base was graciously provided to us by brucewein and advocator, as well as the country of Israel. That said, this version unfortunately lacks a lot of locales. In it you will find English, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, and Korean – no more, no less. Hopefully sometime in the near future we get a release from Europe/Asia that will feature many more locales.
For the P7510, we have the now infamous UEKMM build, the “official” US release that was yanked. Despite the reports of it breaking wifi, I have had no issues of the sort and the rom works spectacularly.I suspect that Samsung’s issue is not related to the ROM itself, but the delivery mechanism and/or installation.
On to features in this release – well, the most obvious is Android 3.2 But there are a lot more niceties to be found. I am proud to tell you all that this rom now features the stock Launcher, Browser, Gmail, and Email apps found in Android 3.2.2 (from Xoom). ALL the 3.2.2 apps are phenomenal performers and make the experience on this device the smoothest I have ever seen it.
Along with those apps, I have brought an oft requested feature over from the stock HC experience – it’s animations. The screen animations are now 100% identical to stock Honeycomb and honestly provide a much cleaner, crisper experience. Most all other features have been carried over from previous ROM’s, with the exception of two (that I can think of).
First, for the P7500 folks, there is unfortunately NO extended power menu at this time. The smali code is COMPLETELY different than what it was in 3.1, and even the US version of 3.2 for that matter. I spent many hours trying to make it work with no success. I will of course continue to try to get it working for you all, but to be perfectly honest I think a Euro/Asian release may beat me to it. Secondly, also related to the power menu mod, for the P7510 folks the status bar hide functionality is not yet implemented. I didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time on it, so i’m sure it can be done, I just need to sit down and really dig into it. For the time being however, you WILL have extended power menu (reboot, recovery, download) but will just missing the status bar hide button.
With that said, I’m not going to hold you up any longer and I suggest you all head over to the downloads and enjoy!
EDIT: One more note - it seems the website and its downloads are sucking pretty hard...I apologize for that. Please use the multiupload links in the first post for downloading if you are unable to get through on the website downloads (or they're crawling)

There is, but Samsung being Samsung, can't leave well enough alone and had to put their own spin on it. It's extremely exaggerated in Samsung's version, as opposed to stock HC where it is significantly more subtle.
Wow - sounds fantastic. Thanks for all your hard work. Can't wait to get home and try flashing this one!
One quick question: was there any reason you replaced the stock email/browser/gmail apps but not the calendar/contact apps? My pet hate with the 10.1 is the ugliness that is samsung's touchwiz calendar.

I replaced the Calendar and it worked, but I didn't know which people would prefer as there is a stark difference lol...i figured i'd leave that one alone. The other apps pretty much look the same, but perform better
Contacts on the other hand wasn't having it at all, but admittedly I didn't spend too much time trying to finagel it in. Maybe in a future release if there is enough requests we'll switch to stock Calendar/Contacts

The Browser one is still exaggerated for some reason, i suspect they are being controlled by different sources (again...samsung ugh) but around the settings and stuff it is not as bad as it was

Ok, thanks for the explanation. My preference is definitely toward the stock app , since the week view layout is much more practical (including zooming in/out ability). You can see the difference here:
http://www1.pcmag.com/media/images/...-android-3-0-honeycomb-honeycomb-calendar.jpg
compared to:
http://static.skattertech.com/files/2011/08/galaxy-tab-touchwiz-calendar.jpg
Same deal with the month view:

compared to:

The stock app is just so much more usable!
thanks for all your hard work: lots of enthusiasm for 3.2 and the Overcome version.

Just rooted after having this thing for a month, I cant believe i waited that long. Anyway going to give this one a shot and see how it goes.
Well, just flashed 2.0 over the previous version and I'm getting launcher and exchange services fc's. Thought it might be a bad flash so I wiped the dalvik and flashed again to no avail. Fixing permissions in recovery also has no effect. Yes I flashed the version appropriate to my device (7510). Any suggestions besides starting over from stock?

1 rule i learnt from flashing since g-d knows when. A clean wipe is the best way to get a rom working right. if you are having FC clean install is your best option. I would recommend an app called appextractor it works great on restoring apps from your nandroid backups.

Yeah you should do a full wipe. Wipe data, cache, and dalvik.

The latest version of gapps (gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip) on the official Google download page (http://goo.im/gapps/) for JellyBean is version 4.2.2-573038.
This thread is a work in progress in an attempt to keep an updated version of gapps available for Galaxy Tab 2 users. Currently, the official gapps package (20130301) is up-to-date with Jelly Bean, but I have still released an updated package with my modifications. See changelog in text files below for details.
History:
* Attached is gapps for JB (4.1.2-485486) extracted from stock Galaxy Nexus I9250 ROM (JZO54K).
* Attached is gapps for JB (4.2.2-573038) extracted from stock Galaxy Nexus I9250 ROM (JDQ39).
Note: The Galaxy Tab 2 and the Galaxy Nexus both share the same processor (OMAP4) from Texas Instruments. Therefore, because their chipsets are the same, gapps extracted from Galaxy Nexus firmwares are also optimized for the Galaxy Tab 2.
These files have been tested working on CM10 and CM10.1 (depending on the version of gapps). The version of the gapps must match the version of the Android operating system. For example, gapps 4.2.2 only works with Android 4.2.2.
Note: These new gapps packages also contain the latest versions of FaceLock, Gmail, and Google Talk.
*** Attached below are also clockworkmod flash-able zip files for DPI 160 modified Google Play and GoogleServicesFramework. If you want to change the Galaxy Tab 2 into "Tablet" user interface, then the /system/build.prop must be changed to a DPI of 133 or less. Unfortunately, these changes will break the Google Play market compatibility because the market does not know your device when you change the DPI properties. Therefore, a DPI of 160 has been now hard-coded into these two applications which allows you to change build.prop to anything you want without affecting the compatibility of the market. The version of the Android Market that has been included in these DPI modified flashable zip files is 3.4.7. I have chosen this version (3.4.7) because it is the last version that still has full compatibility with Ti Backup and it is also the last version of Google Play with a "sane" version of the applications list. IMHO.
The version of Google Play (Phonesky.apk) in the DPI 160 zips can also be updated with any of the "DPI 160" patched market files from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580827) and you can keep the same version of GSF that I have just posted.
** All zip files are flash-able via ClockWorkMod
*** Text files below contain MD5Sum information and links for downloading.
New version of gapps for ics (4.0.4-390215) extracted from latest P3113 ROM (P3113UEBLG5_P3113XARBLG5_XAR). Enjoy.

The ICS versions work with any 4.0.4 ROM like cyanogen 9.
I have just added gapps-jb-4.1.1-398337-signed.zip (optimized for OMAP processors) for JellyBean to the first post. These files were extracted from the new OTA Galaxy Nexus JellyBean update (JRO03C). I figured that the Galaxy Tab 2 and the Galaxy Nexus should work the same because they both share the same processor and I did not want to wait for google to release a new gapps package. Notice that gapps-jb-20120726-signed (from the official gapps download page) is actually 4.1-392829. The gapps package that I have just uploaded is 4.1.1. This gapps package includes updated versions of Google Talk, Gmail, and FaceLock as well.
This is tested working on CM10.
Note: This gapps package (4.1.1-398337) should work with any device using an OMAP processor (p51xx and p31xx) and running Android 4.1.1 (jellybean).
I have re-uploaded gapps-jb-4.1.1-398337-signed because I had accidentally left out a file in the package. The calendar sync was not working. This is now fixed and a new link has been added to the first post.

Actually, there is a slightly newer version of Calendar Sync that I just found in one of the other packages I made. I could substitute 4.0.3 for 4.0.4-390215 (from my ICS gapps). Although, I still can not find a Calendar Sync for 4.1.

Thanks for pointing that out. I have updated the link to gapps-jb-4.1.1-398337-signed.zip on the first page one more time with the following minor change:
Updated GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter from 4.0.3-239410 to 4.0.4-390215 (20120801)
Upgrade procedure: Flash with clockworkmod. No data wipes necessary.
Do I need to wipe before flashing or can I just flash over my ICS gapps? I'm on CM10

You do not need to wipe if you are already on CM10 and you have flashed the official gapps. You can install these gapps on top of the official gapps without having to wipe anything.
thanks for this!

Been having a issue restoring my settings after flashing gapps, When I look into backup & reset 'backup my data' and 'automatic restore' is checked. Under 'backup account' it shows no account is currently storing backup data, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Running CM9 final, everytime I flash a new rom then gapps after all my previous settings are lost.

GoogleBackupTransport is the file that would affect backing up your data. Your settings should not be lost by just flashing gapps again during an upgrade of the same version ROM (for example, flashing a new nightly build over the last one). Actually, you do not have to keep flashing gapps after every installation because they are backed up with Cyanogenmod's scripts. Which version of gapps are you using? Does this problem occur if you use GoogleBackupTransport.apk from the official gapps?
Note that the DPI 160 patched zips with a modified GSF and Google Play are for CM 10 only.

Hi
I'm on the 25/11 Omni Kitkat ROM. Users in the dev forum mentioned about force close on google keyboard when switching to ART. I had those too when i used the Gapps mentioned in the OP. However when you install the FULL Gapps (257MB package) - NOT the 202 MB package linked in the Asylum thread OP - there are no force closes on google keyboard even when switching to ART.
Similarly using the Gapps mentioned in the OP in that thread when i switched to ART i used to get continuous "android is optimizing app 1 of ..." on every reboot. After installing the FULL Gapps (257MB package) I no longer get this error.
Still facing an issue under Asylum Omni (not ROM specific i know)
1) when i install the google dialer from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47817605#post47817605
when there's an incoming call there's no way for me to accept the call - i don't even get the usual 'incoming call' screen where i can see who's calling, accept/reject the call etc.
Since i cant post requests on the asylum omni thread is it at all possible for the google dialer (with the caller ID / nearby places features) to be included in Asylum/Omni ROM ?
Welcome to Formula Performante...
Hey there fellow Tab S2 user! So... your wondering what this ROM is huh? This ROM is the fruit of my labour, after many many hours of work, research etc. This ROM is genuinely the lightest stock based ROM, in all of the Tab S2 ROM era. The ROM weighs just 675 MB, its RAM usage only 1.0-1.1 GB and its fluidity and speed is unmatched, since any and all modifications have been directed towards only enhancing performance and battery life. So, what does this ROM pack? Here's a list:
Features:
1. Extraordinarily Light Operating System with a very deep debloat
2. Google Apps Removed while still maintaining SafetyNet
3. Latest @engine95 Kernel with Enforcing and far more superior RAM Management
4. Updated SoundAlive with slightly modified Volume Increases
5. Every App has been replaced by the lightest equivalent (For e.g, for the Music App, I checked RAM management of Google Play Music and Eleven Music (Cyangogenmod) and found that Eleven Music used 50 MB of RAM lesser than GPM, so I used that. This should give you an idea of how much research and time it took to find the lightest variant of most stock apps)
6. S8 Camera UI with FHD 60FPS,Tracking AF and Standard Improved Autofocus. Other than these improvements, the camera app was debloated as well, and any useless modes were terminated and rooted out.
7. Completely De-knoxed
8. Magisk Pre-Installed
9. Most Extra RAM and Battery Consuming features have been terminated
10. Device Maintenance switched out for Files GO and SystemUI Tuner (To view battery stats, pull down quick settings (notification panel), click on the top right corner (three dots),button order and place the battery icon and storage icon into the quick settings panel.
11. Mtweaks 13.0 Installed for better kernel control, including GPU control.
12. AOSP Sounds instead of Sammy Sounds.
13. Few build prop tweaks for minor performance gains.
Bugs:
Music will crash on first boot
Do not update Magisk, its 17.1 and has to stay that way to work! New versions of Magisk aren't compatible with out current kernel and will just kill boot!
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Wipe DATA,SYSTEM,DALVIK CACHE and CACHE
2. Flash The ROM
3. Realize you enjoy the ROM and hit Thanks :good:
-- NOTE: This ROM is heavily debloated. It's weight alone should classify how much has been removed. Please check comments before installing to see if theres any problems.

First impressions:
Starting with "Music has stopped". Oops.
Upgrading Magisk Manager results in error, because Magisk version lower than v18.0 not supported. You should mention this. So no updated version of Magisk possible here (from 17.1 to 18.1)? Oops
its fast, really fast. Wow
more to follow, will just reinstall everything to get Magisk to work.

Oh yeah, thanks for reminder. OP updated
You should explain why it isn't possible to update to the newest version of Magisk. It isn't so nice installing a new ROM with an old version of root and no chance to fix this.
Update:
Removed the ROM. Titanium Backup crashes immediately. So unusable for me.

He explained why...upgraded versions of magisk are not compatible with the custom kernel he used inside the rom. Possibly if the kernel gets some updates we'll get magisk updated support too.
Btw idk why Titanium crashes...will test tonight if happens with me too. Dumb tought: maybe it uses some gapp related services to work and then it crashes because thei're missing? That sound stupid i know...
For the Dev:
It's possible to install gapps (bare minimum as play store and play services) or MicroGapps in this rom? Just in case i wont rely on Fdroid or other thirdy part stores. Thank you

It's possible to install gapps (bare minimum as play store and play services) or MicroGapps in this rom? Just in case i wont rely on Fdroid or other thirdy part stores. Thank you

Ok so Titanium backup, is related with the kernel being enforcing. Titanium require permissive which I didn't release due to the many security holes it usually poses. Oh and about Gapps, don't flash.
Updated Magisk 17.3 and up, (18.0, 18.1) compatible kernel is here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79164496&postcount=42
Enjoy
Can't enable any Accessibility Services telling that the text to speech language is not supported and when i tries to force itself to change it to english it restarts.
Thanks
core issue imo is that the calling app dialer does not show up during a call-no call ui (call received but no way to accept it) if there was a way to go back to stock dialer and messages this ROM would have been perfect. too bad all in the past now.
For me, after some finetuning, this is the best, fastest and most stable and compatible custom ROM ever for the SM-T715. Thank you Skulldron!
My finetuning after flashing the ROM (TWRP is clearly a requirement):
1) flash new Kernel v1.4
2) flash Magisk v.21.4 (the last one before Magisk (with v.22.0) became an "App", bundeled with the Magisk Manager )
3) install MagiskManager-v8.0.7.apk (The last separate Version of the Magisk Manager before it became a bundle with Magisk)
4) install newest Open Gapps for Arm 7.0 ("Micro" bundle in my case, because I need Exchange support that seems only to come with GMail) choose the one for your needs if you need: open gapps 7.0 arm
5) install Magisk Module "Google Dialer Framework" via Magisk Manager
6) install Google Phone (The offical Google dialer app shows a "device not supported" message but works fine with the Performante Rom. If you don´t like the error message, try another dialer app)
7) install Google contacts (The offical Google contacts app that works fine with the Performante Rom)
That´s the good and stable working basis installation for me. I do not need any google account and use sources like F-Droid, uptodown or the A**zon appstore for some charged applications i need (like Business Calendar, Mobile Doc Scanner...)
Based on you description I reinstalled this one because all other custom roms result in reboots, looping etc.
- Installed stock Gapps (Micro wasn't even available for 7.0)
- the newest kernel 1.6.1
- can use phone and contacts without warnings and problems
- upgraded to lastest magisk version, get warning about system app etc (seems a known problem right now, so I'll wait). But root works
- Netflix, Prime working, Disney with error 39
- fast!
-------------------------
Very good until now. Have to wait a few days and see if the reboots/boot loops etc are gone.
-------------------------
I'll use it only inhouse (since yesterday we have a Galaxy Tab S7+ as primary tablet, but: I can't use it because my daughert occupies it constantly!). Maybe this old and slim rom will give the S2 a new life.
@photona: Thanks for your post. Without it I never would have tried this one again. Sadly Skulldron was last online some months ago...

Thank you for the tips, after installing opengapps, system webview will be missing, so I have to push a webview (v70.0.3538.80) into /system/app and install it again in the system. Didn't you encounter this issue?

I don't use webview, so: no.
cant believe i haven't tried this before. made this ancient tablet very useable. I wish they still made tablets this size, this thin and light with such good screens. its perfect if you want to read the news or surf social media, want something bigger than your phone but not a monster tablet like most these days
Been using for a couple of days now and it is the best rom by far for everyhting, tried lineage android 10 and 11, both of them make the tab run very hot in games and after a few mins the graphics glitch so bad it is unplayable.
This rom however, the games run great and the tab only gets warm. Also battery usage is superior to all other roms ive tried.
Thank you for your hard work.
Glad to see the link still works, shame this was the last rom ive tried, the last happens to be the best
PixelNougat V1.0 - By Team Pixel
Hey Everyone! Pixel Nougat is a custom firmware that ports most of the features from a Pixel Device to a Samsung Firmware. This build has been based on the Pixel XL. It has been very deeply debloated and optimized for performance, whilst also bringing in many Pixel Features to our devices. Here is a feature list:
Features:
1. AdAway
2. Google Calculator
3. Google Calendar
4. GCam (Pixel 1's Camera Apk, with some features removed due to 32bit limitations)
5. Samsung Stock Camera with debloat and HDR Video Parameters enabled
6. Google Chrome
7. Google Clock
8. Google Contacts (with framework port)
9. Google Files GO (File Manager)
10. Google Photos (Warning: Set upload quality to high quality, since it will attempt to upload in original quality because it thinks it is a Pixel)
11. Google Keep (With Handwriting Libs)
12. Magisk 19.0 Prebuilt (With Magisk Manager 7.1.1)
13. Google Messages
14. Mtweaks 14.0 (Kernel Controlroller which has GPU Control as Well)

16. Google Phone (Ported Framework for full functionality)

20. Google Tasks
21. YouTube Vanced
22. Pixel Boot Animation (Pixel 1XL)

Finallly!!! A ROM that I can rely on as a daily driver. I just installed it a few mins ago and its lightning quick and has Pixel features! Thanks dev for the great work!
waiting for more comments...and mark..I may try in a few days
Installed it (as I kept having camera and hotspot problems on LineageOS) a few hours ago. It's great and everything works so far as I can tell. I don't like Samsung's UI (much preferred AOSP derivatives), but having access to original tweaks (color calibration, night mode etc.) is indeed very convenient. And it's really fast, at least as fast as LineageOS.
Congrats!
installed it last night
but I have the problem with sync the contacts from google, and sync chrome data also not work, shall I flash google app pack? which one recommended?

Same here with Contacts. The right permissions are granted, but the account is not recognized. However, if I try to enter it manually, I am told it's already on the device..
Chrome syncs, however.
One more point. Chrome syncs - but Google does not, in the sense that app passwords recorded by Google (and working on other devices) are not available, for instance.
Otherwise, great rom.
ok everything works...
No issue with contacts.. but I did dirty flash over the experience rom..
Issue with calendar, unable to open, requesting to activate the calendar storage.. on inspection the Calendar provider is in the system/priv-app folder, but maybe the incorrect version as it doesn't appear to be 'installed'
Installed version 7.0 for nougat and replaced over the original in twrp.. now working fine...

Regarding editing photos... you should be able to choose editing tools in googles 'Photo' app from the camera..

Oh a please do not have Magisk Manager app in the system storage... should never really be in the system storage..
I use the Hide Magisk Manager option, to stop it being detected by certain apps that looks for it, it is then suppose to uninstall the original version.. However it cant if it is in the system storage...
Apologies stock camera missing gallery
Any separate install available to re add this ?
Any update to pixel android 11
Hey guys! This ROM is still discontinued, but I found an old updated build I did. I have no clue whether it boots or what changes were made, so you have been warned. Please make backups. Here's the link if you're interested in flashing it, its build number is higher than the one posted on main thread so its definitely newer.
