Kernel Review
Review by @Flak
Oh, I wouldn't say not to expect much! Running great here. :good:
Too good man.. After Rocking Roms its Kernels turn now. :good:
Good luck and work mate.
This is just a test project, I'll be back at ROM building once I have more spare time. Kernel building is just 2-3mins so this one I can compile and squeeze in to my time. By the way guys do leave some feedbacks if its good or not, so that I could improve it.
New nightly up. Changelog just check the source.
Any chance of a CPU over clock version
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah why not.
Running good so far.
Can you add hot plug?
Did you try prima wlan driver?
Edit: gamma control would be great.
@crian let's see. Anyways you people can follow the kernels progress at my git. Just click the link in the OP.
Benchmark:
Paranoid SaberDroid, running dalvik and Arkenstone out of the box.
Updated new kernel.
- Improved touch responsiveness for s2s d2tw
- Overclock up to 1728Mhz

I lost root access to flash
hey
Is it safe to use the moto x dalvik with this kernel or does this kernel already have all the optimizations needed

Not sure haven't tried it yet, but afaik those dalvik patches are for the ROM not the Kernel. And yes, this has Optimizations.
wow
So I installed the Qualcomm bionic and dalvik optimizations
And my nexus 4 got a nice boost. Quadrant score before was 5556 and after the Qualcomm optimizations it went to 9265. GNOME u should get these two patches and integrate them into your roms and with this nice awesome kernel makes the nexus incredibly faster smoother long lasting battery everything you can think of. and when Google finally finish optimizing art time it would be even better.

U can install these patches to any rom that is 4.4 or higher. I'm using gnome II ROM with arkenstone kernel gnome is doing. The 1/14/14 build. With the patches integrated in the ROM it makes it 100x better. Of course its different for every user. gnome keep up the good work
Good stuff bro! I'll be sure to flash this once I get a new N4.
Am I the only one trying to download these but keep getting a AFH Maintenance page?

Another new great developer, that gives some love to the Tab 10.1
Thank you for your great work.
I'll give it a try.

Just remember that not every device will work on the highest possible frequency. There is always a possibility that you can fry your device, so be aware of that.
Wow great... you have try antutu with 1400 oc?
I tried 1.6GHz with AnTuTu. Result is 7.709 Points. Equal to Aaccounts A1-Kernel.
But you don't get additional governors And there are further stuff that will be added. Plus, there's no bug with tab reseting instead of powering off while charging.
Thats right. This is why Yodas Kernel is still running on my Tab.
Try getcpu long bench, it seems faster than A1 kernel

Looking at your commit I noticed that you also increased the clocks for vcp/bsea/bsev/vde and epp/mpe. What exactly do those clocks control?

FAQ
FAQ:
Franco explained better than I can do.
franciscofranco said:
F.A.Q. - Read this before complaining!
1. My phone exploded, HALP!
A: I don't answer to problems without a log. The log file is in /proc/last_kmsg. Paste it on pastie.org and link it on your post. Logcats are useless for Kernel purposes, don't bother posting them.
2. This kernel works on Y or X rom?
A: This is one of the worse questions you can ask on my threads. This is a Nexus, it works on every rom you can possibly imagine.
3. OMG BETTARY SUCKZ, IT DEAD IN 45 MINUTAS, HALP!
A: As you can imagine I don't build kernels to decrease battery life. All the battery life problems come from your apps, either Facebook, or Maps, or some Location Service being enabled etc etc. Check your damn wakelocks and fix them, the kernel is not responsible for them.
4. Touch Control doesn't work in rXXX release, you suckas, fix plixe!
A: I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a fix, I can tell you I don't have the solution. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you leave now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I ignore you.

I can add:
5: Can i switch from your kernel to Franco one anytime I want?
A: Yes, you can do it without flash anything.
6: My phone boots normally then the screen goes off and it reboots
A: Known BUG in DMA, don't let the screen goes off until f.ku color are set.
7: I'm on franco Milestone/nighly #xxx how can I flash your kernel?
A: Clear f.ku app data, then flash my kernel.
8: Can I use f.ku (franco.Kernel Updater) with your Kernel?
A: Yes, you can.
Good luck dude.
Thank you

is there a possibility to see a 4.8 toolchain kernel in a near future? i try this one and maybe is placebo but is working great for me feels snapy and smooth on some user interfaces this kernel definitely give some boost on the experience not a hardcore one but help make the experience a great one.:victory:
Finally, a different thread.. :victory:
will try this now..
So you won't consider including the latest prima drivers or maybe do a version with and without it? Thanks for this...

yea you shouldnt rely on benchmarks too much, i just made benchmark with franco kernel and had 13xxx score 2nd try was over 18xxx cause i accidently
turned off screen at 3d benchmark and that caused bad score.
anyways gonna try this kernel with optimations out and see how it works.
btw i also tried out to UV the kernel + overclock it and run benchmark, antutu score is bad, while geekbench 2 scores higher,
benchmark is only a score, you could see wether is a large improvement google stock rom -> custom rom.
But i don't think you can measure the difference between kernel vs optimized kernel.

Q: How do I set or change the kernel settings?
A: Use an app like Trickster to control the kernel settings.
Q: Why do some developers use an install script to set the kernel features and others use a control app?
A: To each his own. I personally like the flexibility of a control app so I can change settings on the fly and monitor the cpu frequencies/temperature etc. in lieu of changing the script and rebooting each time.
Q: Will you add this feature?
A: Maybe if you provide me with a good reason and research backing up why it's good to add. I like to keep my kernels somewhat clean to maintain optimization on battery and performance without going overboard.
Thanks for this, when I jump on a stable lollipop Rom I'll be sure to give this a shot.

Running Liquid. Installing Sleeping Running! Will report back..
Could get to load. Sent phone into an 8hrs crisis. Finally up and running again, unfortunately avoiding kernel. Got sent into a raging bootloop and backups would not even load.

Q: Will you add feature "X" to your kernel?
A: There is one chance that I add it to my kernel. simply post this question in the thread and if I find it usefull, I will implement it. Otherwise not.
Q: What are the best settings for a balanced using between battery saving and performance?
A: This settings are already the default ones. Because this default values are my personal settings, so this will be the best balance between power and battery .
Q: When is the next update coming?
A: As soon as possible. I am working really hard on bringing you a good update. That means also I have to test everything etc. I wont deliver you updates with big bugs! I better take my time and make everything working

thnQ bro and we will try it but i have a question i have RR and if the kernel is not completely with rom or i didn't like it how i can back to previous one that is included with rom !
and its better than the included with the rom ?
sry about my bad english :'(
Smooth ( using smartassV2 ) but doesn't have too much customization options
I mean Only 6 governor ( smartassV2 , performance , interactive , conservation , ondemand , powersave )
Overclocking limited to 1300
No new I/O Schedulers ( cqf , noop , row , deadline )
advantages: Z-RAM , UKMS
What suggested configuration?

use kernel adiutor app to control the kernel
i will not going to add all that fancy stuff which might break the kernel in my stable releases(why anyone would use my kernel if it breaks things ) i have added the most stable stuff in this and for governers take this example i will add 15 to 16 goverers some is causing random reboots ,some heating up the device and some just behaves strangely so will you use my kernel for that? i am not saying i am not going to add the features,i am just saying i will add the feature which i think would be stable but still if you want that stuff i will make some experimental builds

this thing breaks the kernel and cannot be called stable but still for you guys as you don't have this feature i will try to bring this to you (no promises as i don't know how it goes)

Please add swap ram support and GPU tweak
@coderdroid
Quick personal opinion, is it better to have standard CPU steps (350-600-800-1200...) or will it be an advantage to have more steps (300-400-500-600...), and how about under clocking, is it possible for our device? As I can't find any kernel did it,yet. Also the GPU tweaking, seems like mostly non doable on our device?
BTW, am dloading your kernel, will report if none did yet(any bugs or anything).
Osm kernel plz add swap support too
