My xperia Z used to display LTE on the status bar with the journalists ROM (4.3). Recently i flashed it with the generic UK 4.3 rom and now it says 4G. Is this normal with this rom? Is there a way to change it?
I think that just depends on the region your ROM is from. I think some marketing regions use 4G and others use LTE. It's normal, won't affect anything.
You could probably go in there and change it to whatever you wanted if you rooted your device.
Yeah it's just a flag set in one of the apk's in /system/etc/customisation/overlay/

Hi,

Thanks by advance.

The 4G icon is caused by the overlay file /system/vendor/overlay/SemcPhone-Overlay-XXX.apk. If you delete that file, you will get the default LTE icon. However, it's only an icon, it has no effect whatsoever on the connectivity or performance of your phone. I'd recommend to just leave it like it is, to prevent problems with OTA updates.

Yes, that's the one, was just getting to reply but you saved me the trouble, thanks.
Thanks to you both
I have found that it is actually /system/vendor/overlay/SystemUI-Overlay-285.apk that is causing the icon switch. It is the only overlay I keep in my rom for that reason. ?

Got the z two days back, the ph works fine normally, but as soon as i turn on 3g it gets extremely hot and battery dropped from 100% to 75 in 30 mins. No apps are running in the background. Please help me out...
Dont know what to do. Tried updating firmware, but still the same.
What do you mean by extremely hot? (If you place the phone on your skin then remove, does it change you skin colour to a pink hue?) becuase that is extremely hot for a phone (My HTC running turn by turn navigation did that normally) The battery should not drain that fast, the only suggestion I could make is that you might have a faulty unit, it shouldn't do that.

It's called "com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup".
The files are: "/system/app/fast-dormancy-wakeup.apk" and "/system/app/fast-dormancy-wakeup.odex"
For more relevant info in the Fast Dormancy subject, search it on Google. It can save battery when your provider supports it or drain when it doesn't.

I've posted similar question earlier, but no answer so far. It was called "Optimised backlight" and it was positioned right below "Pulse notification light". It is basically DLS (Dynamic Luminance Scaling) and it is the most annoying power-saving feature in the known universe and I absolutely hate it. It should be a way to disable it with root explorer, but I can't find it in the folder where it was on my Xperia T.

I think I read somewhere that Sony removed it due to it bugging out with some apps.
They should remove it then, not leave us without possibility to turn this crap off.

Yeah. I would think if it doesn't work when on, then they should have disable it and left it off by default.
All other Android phone worked without trying to change this crap.

Hey guys,
I read, that you can force auto rotation in launcher by editing the build.prop.
My question is: what do I have to add and where?
Thx

Take the Xperia launcher mod ra3l or something like this was his name here from xda. It's look like the normal launcher but it work on all android 4.1 and up.

I think this is what your looking for, not sure if it works with sony home though.
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true
Add it to the bottom of your build.prop and find out.
By the way... i found this by typing in "auto rotate launcher build.prop" into google.
Thx for your reply

I used to enable lockscreen rotation all the time in my old phone and that needed a value changing in the framework.apk

Finally! This is great news!
I never wanted to flash any custom ROMS because I didn't want to lose the magical battery life of this phone.
However I had always noticed the butterfly s was slower in places than a snapdrag 600 should be.
I received the OTA on my Butterfly S shipped from HongKong no problem so I hope this remedies some of the stuttering in the OS.
Wow you have stuttering on your Butterfly S, I have never noticed on mine.
The only thing I will say is, after 4.4.2 battery seems to die a little faster then before. I know you didn't want to here that.
Can anyone else confirm there battery life after OTA?

Got the update. So far, disliking it a lot.
Apps can not write to external sd anymore. The stupid modification Google has done to kitkat is taking place, as covered by android police here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...at-and-even-samsung-may-be-implementing-them/
If I can´t get if fixed, my 64gb SD will become useless and the internal 16gb of the phone is just not enough for my use.
I could not achieve root acess again yet.
Camera seens to be a little less purple in low light conditions, but the pictures are being very washed away in terms of color fidelity, like if the contrast is too low.
The chinese apps can be removed now, but I´m afraid of removing them and not being able to update the firmware in the future as it already happened once.
The News and Weather widget (Google geniewidget.apk) just disapeared and I cant use it anymore. Tried to install the apk and it failed to install.

I'm sorry, I couldn't see the screenshots before. You'll need a better BBS log, it would be much more reliable if you would post a log from overnight. Those one hour logs can't always give a clear enough picture. Make sure you don't use your phone, so we have a completely idle log.
Check the BBS thread for AlarmManager, that should already give you quote some pointers to work with.

Actually it sounds as if you did already a lot. I am not sure if I would further bother with this ROM,whatever it is.

Some disabled apps still "work" in the background. NFC for example. Or GTalk.
Investigation of these sort of wake-locks can be tedious. Unless you see it as an interesting task Did you consider simply re flashing it?
