so i tried to update to the new sprint update that fixes the 4.4 battery issues. i was on twrp recovery and i flashed back to stock recovery and tried to dirty flash the update on top. i had xposed framework installed so was pretty sure that wasn't going to work. and it didn't. now i decided to use the moto x toolkit to flash back to stock. it booted up just fine then i downloaded the update from 4.2.2 to 4.4 and the update failed. now i'm stuck with basically nothing on my phone at all. i can get to fastboot mode but thats it. cant power up cant enter recovery can't do anything.. also i had a unlocked bootloader and now its reading locked again. here is the error i'm getting.
failed to hab check for gpt_nain: 0x35
failed to hab check for gpt_gpt_backup: 0x35
CID Read Failure
Invalid CID status 0x69
CustomerID error. contact Dealer: 0xdead
No SP partition found
Fastboot Reason: Invalid CID
I've been working on this for about 7 hours and have looked up everything i could think of to try and get this fixed. i may just be missing something.. does anyone know how i could fix this?
What version is your bootloader, you can see it in the fastboot screen.
30.71(*) (sha-913941e, 2013-07-31 10:46:37)
is that was your looking for?
OK, that is the 4.2.2 bootloader. Your bootloader is locked in that screen shot - so how did you install twrp recovery?
Also your avatar shows AT&T but you mention you tried using the Sprint update, can you confirm the phone you have is a Sprint model?
Steve-x said:
OK, that is the 4.2.2 bootloader, so you should be fine to try flashing the phone again. I'd download the Sprint 4.4 package and try a full flash using rsdlite if possible. Everything on the phone will be wiped/erased of course. Then take the update to 4.4.2. Once that is done you can reinstall the latest version of twrp and root the phone again.

thanks for the reply! well i already tried that and i can't get rsd to flash. are there some special drivers i'm supposed to install? i got the motorola drivers from their web-sight. and it won't flash. it sees that there is a phone but all catagories read n/a and it just comes up with flash fails..
i'm not sure how the bootloader got locked again.. it wasn't locked before i'm pretty sure the moto x toolkit i used to flash back to stock relocked it?.. or maybe not. but i do know it was unlocked and now its locked. and when i try to get the unlock code like last time it doesn't work.
yes this is a sprint phone.
Edit: thank you for pointing that out, never changed it from years ago
If you were able to relock the bootloader and have the phone report status code 0 then you'd be the first to have done it. You can relock the bootloader but it requires a specific procedure to be followed and the phone will never indicate status code 0 again.
Review this guide - the first flashing option you should work for you, remember to remove the getvar line
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-moto-x-return-to-100-stock-using-t2446515
i'm a idiot. i must have looked at that guide 15 times today and never read through all of it. just needed to deleate that one file and it all worked. thanks everyone for you help!
the status code 0 must have been incorrect. its back to status code 3 and unlocked. thank you all for your help!
In an attempt to use my locked AT&T HTC One phone on my T-mobile service I used the Cyanogenmod Installer to root my HTC one and hope to use it on the T-mobile network; I also unlocked the bootloader via HTC website. The newest Cyanogenmod is installed (11-20140417-NIGHTLY-m7) and wifi is working, etc. Unfortunately, no phone calls since it keeps asking for SIM Network unlock code (I bought an unlock code...not working). Any suggestions? What should I do? I did some research and I read something about using an RUU...is this a good solution? Thank you all!
Status of phone on bootloader screen is:
S-ON "TAMPERED"

No luck the phone they're referring to is the HTC Amaze it seems.
Does successfully installing Cyanogenmod "unlock" the network as well??

No, bootloader unlock and sim unlock are different things. You'll need to be on the stock rom to input your sim unlock code.

And that's what worked. Thanks!
Hello,
I (still) have the same problem here. I have a DHD that was locked and branded. I followed HTCDev's procedure to unlock the bootloader and installed a Cyanogenmod ROM (unofficial 10.1) two weeks ago that works great. I've been trying to get my phone unlocked for days with no luck ever since.
I've tried using the HTC unlock tool v. 0.9.5/4 and rooting the phone too. Nothing. Drivers are working fine; program executes as expected, but I still have a locked phone after it finishes. I got an unlock code that I enter after booting and I get a "successful network unlock" message, but the radio seems to remain off. I cannot place calls. Attempting to choose a network operator manually from the settings menu fails; I get a "mobile network unavailable" message when doing so (service providers list does not even appear). I've read threads saying that the only way to get around this is by reverting the phone to its original ROM and HBoot, but I've read elsewhere that workarounds on branded phones shipped with Gingerbread or Froyo (like mine used to run) fail and/or screw up the phone, so I have not tried that. Any ideas or pointers?
Thanks!
This thread is just for lollipop 5.x M8WHL (sprint) based on SENSE roms
LET'S START
1 - unlock bootloader from htcdev.com
2 - flash TWRP HERE
3 - ROOT your device by flashing SuperSU v2.45
4 - flash 1-HtcOMADM_SPCS.zip and then flash 2-HtcOMADM_SPCS.zip
5 - Install SIM unlock helper.apk and do as usual
If the signal didn't appear do the last step in this thread which is number 6 -
So you get it , hope it works for you . :good:

Via TWRP press Mount and mount system , now go back to advanced and file manager
In file manager go to system/app/HtcOMADM_SPCS and delete a file called .fota_apk
Help!
I'm running 4.4.4, when i clicked start in the sim unlock helper, nothing shows up. What do i need to do?
not working on lollipop....
Tested with your method and it didn't work but this did work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one-m8/general/sim-unlock-s-off-t3072722
I tried it and it worked. Just need to flash Kitkat and restore back the Lollipop after unlock.
hi , i needhelp with my htc m8 sprint
hi, i need help i got an HTC M8 sprint lollypop, from ebay i live in northern Baja In mexico , and i wanted to use it down here, i got an unlocking code but it does not ask for it, i have taken it to some shops that unlock cellphones but they cant do it
i love this phone but if i cant make it work i will have to re sell it,
can some one help???? many thanks
I have the same problem as arunkarnwal1981. I get the vdm client not responding error even after renaming the file in question (does it have to be deleted entirely?).
Also, SIM Unlock Helper just says "This device is not a Sprint HTC One." Odd, this is from an RUU dowloaded from HTC's site. So all I've got is a phone with the vdm client broken, whatever that is. Android is 5.0.2, Lollipop.
Oh - there's a brief message after "This device is not a Sprint HTC One." It reads invalid device htc-m8whl.
check my thread for complete Sim unlock on lollipop without s-off

htc m8 sprint,bootloader unlocked,s-off
hi there i tried this but it did not work, i have a htc m8 from sprint it has android 5.0.2
and i too want to use it out side of the US, mine its ROOTED,BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED,AND S-OFF, can you help me , it still does not accep my sim card....thank you
Well, it generates the vDM Client has stopped unexpectedly error as soon as I install the .zip. I'm running HTC's RUU of Lollipop 5.0.2.
And then the unlock helper says "This device is not a Sprint HTC One!" Process fails for me.
simple solution, works 100%
if u r on lollipop 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 on htc m8 sprint follow below steps to unlock ur phone
Unlock Bootloader
Flash TWRP RECOVERY
Flash Sim Unlock Zip file
Install Stock Rooted Deodexed 4.4.4 zip Rom file
wipe cache, dalvik cache and reboot phone, it will take some time to boot but hv patience...
Turn On the phone
Install sim unlock apk
Open and press 3 dots menu button and then wait for super user permission to be granted...
press back button and then start button... congo u will get ur sim unlock option at bottom of the page... reboot and then done... if u get vdm error then copy htc omad... file to system/apps and try again changing permission.. it really works i unlocked mine successfully...
In available networks I get an error message
Hi all. I have been following this post. I manage to get the sim unlock menu, then I go to GSM options and I manage to retrieve the lis of the following operators in my country, but as I select any of them, I get the message Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network. Any clues on how to fix it? Thank you in, advance
Try to redo the unlock procedure and reboot the phone...i think it should work cuz its something related to unlocking,
Something weird happened to me today, my gsm sim card stopped working and shows "invalid card, please contact customer care". Anyone know how can i confirm if this is simlock ?
OS: Sprint viper 4.3 (5.0.1) , edited sku_id to 42
kernel: 3.4.0-g53c7f19
baseband: 1.09.20.0209
firmware: 4.25.651.14
Few things to note:
- GSM/UMTS mode was fully operational from last december until today morning.(Calling/data/sms)
- i tested another GSM SIM(from another carrier) and gives same error, i tested my GSM SIM on another phone and it works
- restored TWRP backup(system, data, boot) to few days back when it was working and it still doesn't work
- flashed sense 7 mod (venom hub), and some updates to HTC service pack came along on play store (this was at least 2 weeks ago)
Solution (it seems that sprint can remotely lock our phones, so this is a temporary workaround ):

No i didn't try unlocking again because I think the method only works with jellybean roms. Handsfree activation popped many times but it never completed.
I am currently backing up my internal memory because i will run some RUU installers and test some stuff.
When did this happen to you and what rom are you using ?did you install the sense 7 mod? did you install any htc updates?

now phone keep asking for activation, because I did a reset from ##786#
that brings my phone to unactivated, I cannot do the unlocking because everytime I flashed sim_unlock.zip or trying to replace the Htcomadmspcs.apk and run the simunlockhelper.apk it gave me an error vDM client stopped.
I can not enter the OMADM Test Menu to press the sim lock.

Tried flashing 4.4.x roms, either vDM error still there or the Hands Free Activation
I should have not reset through ##786#

did you replace the OMADM apk file and set the permissions properly and reboot ?
EDIT: you can downgrade the software without downgrading the firmware. (by installing a rom like viper 3.2.1 or any other custom kitkat sense rom)

It works..!! but I have to rename the Htcomadmspcs.apk to .bak and Htcomadmspcs.odex to .bak via TWRP.
-reboot to TWRP
-mount system
-use TWRP file manager, navigate to system/app and rename both file mention above to .bak
-copy paste the modified Htcomadmspcs.apk, reboot to system
-run the simunlockhelper.apk and it will open a menu
-click on SIMLOCK, wait 3secs, back to simunlockhelper app
-switch network to GSM/UMTS, insert gsm sim, reboot the phone
-profit
I was S-ON with latest official Lolipop 5.0.2, flash back the software to Stock Rooted flashable 4.4.4 zip when doing this sim unlock.
My rog 3 tencent version is not unlocking bootloader, bootloader is failed to unlock your device plz help me
How did you attempt to do it? Steps please.
Same issue here. Previously I was just downloading the Unlock Device app here and running it. (I already had developer options enabled) and the device would reboot but not do anything (I reckon I tried 10+ times). Since then I formatted the device and tried again and got the same results so I set the device backup normally today (running build 18.0410.2108.158) and tried it again (with and without developer options enabled as I forgot to check) and I just get a standard error message saying it couldn't unlock my device and to try again later. Same result multiple times. I don't see any option for OEM unlocking in Dev options which I see some people mention. I'm updating to the latest OS I can see in the link I provided and I will try again after installing that.

Hello
Your phone has already been unlocked earlier and has the flag removed. Someone blocked it again for sale.
So you won't do anything with Asus tools.
I recommend the EDL mode
