it's obviously a molehill!

Thanks danger2u. I tried your suggestion by dragging icons in there but it just seems to be a black hole. Also tried a new launcher and switching back.. No luck either.

go to settings - apps - all - launcher.
click Force Stop and then Clear Cache, then press the Home button. If that doesn't work, go back to launcher and click Clear Data. You'll loose your icon settings/widget layouts, but it will get rid of the issue.

I tried searching but didn't find anything on it. I was wondering if anyone had made it where the names of my apps didnt show up beneath the icon, or if there's a setting somewhere in CM 5.0.6 to show/hide. I have a light wallpaper and it would be much cleaner without the names below each one.
you can do that in HelixLauncher (both 1 and 2 can do it) so you need to download that launcher; then in the homescreen, click on menu > configure > and there's bunch of options to select

I am rooted and debloated a little the phone + I have GEL launcher: is there a way at this point to completely remove sony's lockscreen and install standard google one?
Go into your system apps in system-->app then look for XperiaLockscreen.apk change apk to .bak so if you want the regular one back, just switch it back to .apk

Hey,
I used this on my S8 Plus, and tried it on my Note 8 and it works too. It adds the option for a black navbar back in the Display > Navigation Bar settings. Just install the APK, reboot and head into the settings to turn it on.

Cheers
Wonder why they removed it. Did they want to avoid screen burn in with this model?
Yea was remove due to burn in or wash out

Thank you much for this, it was driving me nuts and all other colors are lame and are not consistent with a blacked-out theme.
Much appreciated!
Nevermind, the option was blacked out due to black theme. Thanks!
Not seeing where you turn this on. No option in the Navbar settings.

Seems to have odd permission requirements? Not sure why it needs to access the phone, or alter SD contents?

Thanks, it works. Navbar was my go to, but it was not working very good with immersive mode + when keyboard appeared.
Works great!
Why does it need access to the sd card?

See if this one does, I don't believe it did. If it does it's probably because that's where you have it stored prior to installation.

I can confirm it ask for SD card and Phone permissions, both versions uploaded here in the thread. I went ahead and disabled the permissions and seems to work fine still, even after a restart. Still odd to ask for phone permissions tho

Install and go to settings if you are using a black theme already you might not see the Dark bubble in those color list, just press the last dark spot.

I'm using sd_black from samsung theme store with parts and pieces of several substratum themes and several different layers.
Works on mine once theme controls for Nav bar were turned off.
Tried to find a solution for this irritating thing
Evertime I install an app an icon is added onto my home screen.
Can't find the on off switch in the home settings or the display.
Is it somewhere blooming obvious? ☺
It used to be an option in the playstore but it's not longer there, unless you use a new launcher it will always happen.

I personally really liked MIUI10's recents panel, and not a big fan of LOS's.
I'd like to have a "clear all" button that I can easily access (though, not at the top), and I feel like besides "lock" and "close" it might be useful to have () to get to app's info page (e.g. to clear cache) and a button to go to its AppOps or privacy guard.
Maybe someone knows of something similar already out there?

go to google play and download Recently by Chainfire. this will give you the close all button back. it will also shut down apps that have been running X amount of hours and you can limit it to only have X amount of apps displayed in recents.

That sounds interesting! I'm using Gravitybox for the clear all, but it places it at the top of the screen. Do you know if this moves it?

One annoying this is the "remove all" button briefly appears when switching to previous app. It's too quick to appear...
