Well this one isn't so difficult but I though I'd share for those that have not worked it out yet.
The LG Device Test "HiddenMenu" is apparently on all shipping phones and it's simply disabled via removing the menu entry.
To activate you need to create a shortcut to this hidden menu. You can do this with most replacement launchers and apps like BetterCut.
Example using LauncherPro (others will use a similar method):
Long press on home screen
Select Shortcuts
Select Activities
Scroll down to and expand com.lge.hiddenmenu
Select HiddenMenu (first entry)
Enter Shortcut name
Click on shortcut to launch
Hit 'Thanks' below
Also now Logcat app:
As above
Scroll down to and expand LG Debug
Select LG Debug (first entry)
Enter Shortcut name
Click on shortcut to launch
Hit 'Thanks' below
Enjoy the vast amount of options and tests in there, and be careful as some are destructive.
Perhaps Useful:
Dim Capacitive Buttons: Device Test | Touch LED Brightness
Turn on Camera LED: Device Test | Camera Test | Torch Flashlight Preview
Wtf I just dimmed my touch buttons nice.
The brightess of the buttons was to bright for using the phone as a ebook reader at night the setting stays avyive even after exiting the test.
Btw is the thanks button only displayed on the site and not in tge xda app?
Thanx!

Thx buttons pressed!!
The phone is getting better and better.
Only thing for me left to do is Root, No adds and delete couple of apps.
And try to fix the Lock screen lag when you power on screen.

What specifically is that? I use WidgetLocker and don't experience lag... does it taker a while with the stock one to become responsive? I can't recall that.

For a noob like me, which free apps can I use for launch this service?
I'm also frustrated about the lack of dim option as standard in the phone.

Sometimes it goes to homescreen and then the lockscreen, when it's been idle for some time.
It also happens with widget locker for me.

I experience the same issue, but even more annoying, it keeps displaying unread messages on the lockscreen until i reboot.
I'm using Handcent, guess the lockscreen gets the unread count from the original messaging app. If anyone know of a fix, please do share.
Hi alls. For those experiencing some nagging issues like lag or bugginess, are your phones rooted to Gingerbread or...? Thanks!
No, rooted stock froyo 2.2.2 in my case.
Gingerbread isn't out yet :-(

Gulp, I'm new at this... I wonder if after its rooted will these issues be solved? IDK, maybe it's the LG UI?

Yeah could be. Did anyone try to delete all the LG apk's and see if the stock lockscreen is the same??

I don't think I get the former, but certainly dodgy behaviour immediately after boot.
I have started getting the message count now when the stock screen flashes up. It seems to count all messages, read or otherwise.
Perhaps somebody can start a confirmed & common bugs thread in General for a good collection of them.
Some more:
I can't use a long complex password to connect to a WiFi-G AP, but a simple password works just fine.
Music controls return to notification shade sometimes after a reboot, box in Music app is still unchecked.

No problems with the above and lock screen, I'm using Launcher pro and Pattern lock.
These are bugs i'm experiencing:
[Not realy a bug but a LG feature]Multiple exchange accounts disabled in LGemail app. Resolved by using the Android mail client and freezing LGemail (thanks for that ).
Camera brightness not listening to "auto" brightness, but uses the manual settings. Maybe it`s just me, but can somebody check the brightness of the camera app after setting the brightness to minimal and then check "Auto".
Hi guys. How are you doing today?
So recently i installed jb 4.1.2 with multiview on my n7000 cuz i couldnt wait for Samsung to release it.
And everything is going perfectly fine. (battery now lasts much much much longer without charging. btw.)
And while im setting up themes and Widgets n stuff. I noticed that the "torch light" widget (which can toggle 3 different levels of light.)Has been replaced with the "assistive light" one. (which can only toggle one level of light which is the lowest one.)
And that annoyed me cuz i really liked that future..
And then i looked for a solution and i found the widget. downloaded it. But everytime i try to install it it will say: application not installed.
Any ideas on how to let it install??
Thanks
-A0Z
Try this one from Google Play: TeslaLED Flashlight. I've been using it from some time, and works great, including on the JB leaks. Has more features than the standard widget.

is it the original torch widget that was there in ICS, then manually place it in system/app folder and change the permissions to rw-r--r--. now check the widget screen and you should have the torch widge

Well i did everything you said. And i found the widget and placed it. Yayyyyy!!! But it didn't work properly..
On the first click it toggles the brightest one
On the second one it does nothing... (stays on the brightest one.)
On the third one it goes to the Dimmest one D;
:/ we're only few steps away from solving it.

May I ask how you managed to get it working ?
I've just decompiled your apk , and I decompiled stock ICS torchwidget.apk, there is no notable difference, except for the smali directory in your apk
any news about old 3 level torch widget on jelly bean?
I've just putted on JB in System App and I can confirm it works but not properly:
1st lev: max
2nd lev: no difference (stay on max)
3rd lev: soft light

Same here. But i have an app which seems to have the medium level.
its called powerful control.
Heres the link:
http://play.google.com:443/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.powerfulcontrol.free
After installing go ahead and place the light widget. And there you go!
If you switched it you wouldn't see any difference because the difference between the medium and the Max level is little.
If you want to see the difference switch on the torch Widget (the one with "3" levels) then switch on the powerful control one and you'll see
That the light went lower. Now switch off the powerful control one first then the torch one. (Just for the sake of not confusing the phone)
Hope I helped.
-A0Z
Just a note. The powerful control one is always on medium. You don't have to switch on both to get the medium level.

No but you can add a widget to your homescreen to do the same thing.
I use it all the time.
I add the widget to my dock and its there for whenever I want to turn the screen off.
However, if you don't want xposed module then this is not the answer either because it is another app to install.
But, CRT has not been available for a long time on our phone (GB if I am not mistaken) since it is actually quite difficult to do and no one is really working on it as its too easy to use this app or xposed to get the same result.

Dear friends, finally i have found a ROM that i like, but there is a problem. On the lock screen when i hit the power button, i get an irritating line on the left that indicates to me that i have another screen for widget to insert. Now i dont know how to disable it, because i do not need another screen on the left for widget.

Hello to all the lucky Z3 compact owners (i hope lucky )
One question: is the On Off Widget from other Xperia devices still there in the new devices?
I´m using it on my home screen since many years and i´m not sure if it still exists...
Thank you for your help!
If you're talking about the ringer sound widget, auto rotate, mobile data, etc yes they exist. They are in the quick settings in the pulldown menu, you can edit the icons.
No, it´s not exactly what i mean
Here is a screenshot with the widget in the middle of the screen so it´s better to see...

I think, you mean the Sony quick-toggle widgets. A good alternative on the market is the app "power toggles".
Was missing them, too. However, can only confirm that Power Toggles are way better. It even gives back the quick toggles in the notification bar. :good:
If you just need lcd on and off, use Awesome On and Off app in gplay. It works well with our Z3C's.
