You can change the SD card to be internal memory by doing the following system settings > storage > storage configuration > use internal storage. Works fine for me.

Hell Yeah. You can move between tablet and phone mode or a hybrid of the two as well as per app density changes. i use this with the Thor V11 kerenl and its about 40% quicker than stock ICS and so many new features. You won't regret the move.
sad that I cant see any paranoidandroid rom 0.2 video on youtube.
BTW Thor V11 kerenl - what it exactly does?

There are loads of v0.1 examples on there, even the official thread has some however v0.2 has a lot more features and is smoother. If I have time I will make one tonight after work and upload for you. No guarantees though.
The kernel acts as a mediator for your programs and your hardware. First, it does (or arranges for) the memory management for all of the running programs (processes), and makes sure that they all get a fair (or unfair, if you please) share of the processor's cycles. In addition, it provides a nice, fairly portable interface for programs to talk to your hardware.
There is certainly more to the kernel's operation than this, but these basic functions are the most important to know. Obviously each kernel does things in different ways however I found Thor V11 with undervolting and overclocking to be by far the best.

OP-Do you research before doing anything dangerous. Since this threat is for Desire HD and not Galaxy Note. Be very careful.
If you have that 32GB micro-SD, you can use it as your phone's internal SD card with an easy vold.fstab swap. Your reduced capacity internal storage would then become your "external" SD card. This link should help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377628

Hello,
I am a new owner of a S3 mini. I tried many differents tweaks to move my apps to sd card (including Link2SD) but none worked.
So I am now stuck with only 4Gb of Storage, my device is already full (some updates cannot be done).
So I was wondering how you guys deal with this storage limitation ?
Thanks
I have only 1 GB in use (100 apps)

No games installed. I use my PS3 for that

Thanks a lot, I'll check foldermount.
482 mb free
I have 482mb free on my internal storage , and I use ex. card but it's obly 2gb so I'm planing to buy bigger one
Finally I tested Foldermount : this is the only app I could use with success to move apps to the SD card ...
So thanks a lot for this information !
But I have one question : I could not find any tutorial about Foldermount, the only way I know how to move apps is to select the app folder and the destination app. This is not very friendly ... The S3 mini is for my girlfriend, I need something as simple as possible (she's not a geek ...).
On Foldermount there is a menu which displays all your apps, but when I select one, the buttons (source or destination) remain grey (unusable) and there is an error message saying something like this app may already be linked to sdcard ...
Is there a tutorial about foldermount ?
Is there a way to use it without the need of selecting each app folder to move ?
Is there a way to just select the app and ask to move it to sd card ?
Thanks

Foldermount doesnt move apps to external sd, but link folders from internal sd to external sd.
I still find it very usefull to link download folder and other things like GPS maps. You can also link those game obb files that get stored in your sd (Android/obb) and free up alot of space if you play games.
You can read the original thread here.

To my point of view, it does move the app to external SD as it moves files to external SD and then create a link in the internal memory to external SD.
If it wouldn't move data to external SD card, this application would have no interest.
The only problem for me with this app is that to use it, you need to know in which folder of your internal memory the app has been installed. It's not very easy for everyone. It would be better if when Foldermount shows the list of your apps, you could just select it and then move it to SD.
This feature seems to be existing but does not work for now. Maybe in a later release ...
Anyway, this is the only "move to SD" app I tried which is working fine with the S3 mini.

Thanks but I already tried this, it does not work : the S3 mini does answer correctly to the ADB commands, it says it's now configured for external storage (2) but when I install an app it still does it on the internal storage ...
Really, I tried many different methods, only Foldermount worked.
DirectoryBind with only one link: /sdcard/Android to /storage/extSdCard/Android
Device should be rooted.
Also, in DirectoryBind preferences you need to enable Bind on boot and Alternate dbase mgmt.
That's all you need. All apps data will be stored on external sdcard including cache of games.

The same can be done with foldermount, and it's still maintained with updates which dirictorybind isn't.

For what you need an updates of DirectoryBind? It does not need any update because it smooth and fully working. Atleast, on 4.1.2.
For 4.2.2 we need to switch to FolderMount or manually add mount to init.d
With FolderMount you cannot mount sdcard/Android, you need to mount each cache folder separately.
Maybe it is fixed already in latest version, dunno. If yes, then I will switch to FolderMount too =)
With "destination folder check" unticked in settings it works fine. Maybe it's a pro feature.

Finally I tried to link sdcard0 to sdcard1 : it seems to work if I look at Foldermount status, but in reality it does not copy anything to the SD card ... This is strange ... Plus after having linked sdcard0 to sdcard1, I cannot remove this link : it says a copy is running and I cannot stop it. In reality nothing is copying, so I need to uninstall Foldermount to remove the link ...

External storage "swap" for Xperia Z1. that will be safe for z1
So that we can make external SD card react as our internal storage by doing this we can directly downloads every thing on our SD card and can install more HD games.
Usually 1 HD game have 1GB to 1.5 GB Data and 5 to 6 games fill up all 11 GB available Internal storage in our device, but if we exchange our internal storage with our SD card than we can fulfill our requirements by using a 32GB or 64GB Sd card

Right now I am using Gameloft to SD app for moving all my games to SD card
1) First fix your remount reboot error get it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317432
if you did not have recovery then use windows.exe installation method. Rooted device is requied
2) Download GL to SD app from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slf.ListglApp&hl=en
move your games data
3) After moving data you can play games by this method only
3.1) open GL to SD app
3.2) you will see two button on top right side, first button is mount and second one is for unmount
3.3) press the mount button
3.4) Now click on play button which ever game you like to play
4) after close the Gl to SD app all the folders unmounted, so if you want to play again you have to open GL app again and mount the games.

does External swap has anything to do with the RAM?
Swap is normal terminology for offloading the least used data to slower drives. I suspect that the op is asking for a way to use the memory card as internal storage, and vice versa.

Sorry I could be very wrong here, in that case sorry. I thought OP was referring to making a swap partition on the sd-card and using that as swap. I've seen people do this on 'low-RAM' devices to increase multi-tasking a bit. That's why I wondered what he was up to since he has 2 gigs of RAM.

Hmmm well you could try simlinking your internal storage to your external sd-card, or only do it for specific folders. I never tested this by the way so I have no idea what could happen if you do this, but it's an idea.

I tried Folder Mount with that fix, but can't get it to work.
The linked folders will mount, but when launching the moved games, it is asking to download additional files again.
The files from the Install.bat of the fix have correctly installed on my phone as well.
So not sure what is going on.
Can you play moved game successfully on your phone?

Hello,
I've buy the new Moto G 2014 edition (the one with a 5" screen) and my other phone was the Alcatel Idol 2s.
The thing I don't understand with the MotoG is I cannot move applications to my 32Gb SD Card, on the other side on the Alcatel I can move all applications (except few one like the Google apps) but on the MotoG, it's only a few one I can move.
And I cannot tell the MotoG to install the apps by default to SD card.
What is the other solution, because the internal 8Gb will be fill very fast.
Thanks guys!

For the second option yes. For this first one I don't know because I have not used it.
I tried Link2SD way back and had mixed results with it. Depending on your SD card, you could find apps very slow to load. Also, unless anything's changed the card will have to be partitioned. The app used to require the APP2SD partition be ext2/ext3/ext4 and the other partition for your media stuff would be fat32. Also be aware that some apps just won't like being on the SD card and may not work well or correctly. Maybe someone that has used it recently knows more, but it just didn't work for me. Keep in mind it was back in Jellybean days when I used it. Oh yeah, you will need to be rooted.
Below is a link to the guide on using it and I had that, I probably would have been happier. )

Hello I'm using a Huawei GR3 2017 (PRA-LX2 running emui 5.0.1) and I was wondering if this device has been restricted to move apps to sd card?
At first I thought that switching the default location in the Settings from Internal to SD card would make the move to SD card possible in apps, or at least put my apps I would download to the card.
However, I guess it just means that it would just put my shot photos, videos, screenshots etc. and downloaded files to the card, but not apps themselves. Factoey reset then downloading my applications again didn't work.
Is the only way to move them is to have my phone rooted then? What led me first to assume that I can move apps to sd is the option "force allow apps on external storage" in the developer options (which I can't seem to turn on no matter what)
Has Huawei restricted moving apps to sd card for this device?
Thanks for your time! (and i hope i am in the right forum)
Since Android 6 Google disabled that option. So you need root or you can format SD card as internal storage
Enviado do meu PRA-LX1 através do Tapatalk
Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately there really is no option to format my sd card as internal; not sure if this is an emui thing or what, since I see people using stock android 6 and above with that option available in their devices.
So my only option is to root then? Or is there a chance that they would enable it again on emui 8.0? I've searched a bit and found out (in many sites) that gr3 2017 is on the list to receive the update.

Did some research and found a turorial for my device to make my sd card part of the internal (i guess?) using adb. With this method and no root in the process, i shouldn't be worried of having my warranty voided, issues on OTA updates, etc. then? Just making sure

UPDATE:
Yes, it was a success
By doing it via usb (debugging mode) and using adb to enable adoptable storage. A detailed procedure can be found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...3-p8-lite2017-enable-adoptable-t3689850/page1 (credits to the op!)
At the part where I had to unmount and mount the sd card, I tried inputting the code to do it, but it seemed that adb couldn't recognize it so I just went to my settings in the phone, ejected the sd card and mounted it again. So far I didn't screw things up tho. The free space was 11+ gb after I was finished with the process. Before it was only 400 plus mb :cyclops:
After 3 days since, I've experienced nothing wrong; no bugs, glitches, slowdowns etc. All I haven't tested are the OTA updates, but I guess it's still working cuz I can still search for the updates (I already have emui 5.0.1)
But keep in mind that ONLY use fast micro sd's, I am using a Sandisk Ultra with an A1 rating, which I think is made for running applications (from the"A" bit) so I would recommend that at the very least (I bought the 16gb one)
Thanks all for the help! I included a screenshot of the settings' readings on my phone's storage, but I think this is only natural from force adopting storage (hope so) and a screenshot of my file manager readings on it.
yeah this messes up the storage settings.
It's also not a perfect solution - some apps will install to the "adopted" SD card, but many still insist on installing on the internal memory, so it doesn't buy you a lot of extra space. Fundamentally 16GB is not enough for a modern Android phone - I won't buy another with less than 32GB.
