Andriod e-ink reader (screen is B/W, not colour):
I moved my listing from previous thread as all are not best apps, just my current ones, nor might I be able to update them or maintain listings in future.
My settings:
Double tap: toggle: full-screen / show status bar
Swipe up: apps drawer
Swipe down: show notifications
right side up/down buttons left as is to page up/down in a few readers & 2 pdf readers
n nook button: MENU
n nook button long press: light on/off (default)
left up button: light on/off
left up button long press: nook home navigation bar
left down button: BACK
left down button long press: HOME
right up button long press: HOME
right down button long press: MENU
The nook n button sometimes needs pressing twice, which is fine when assigned in NookTouch-ModManager as menu. As back button the delay isn't acceptable & it exits apps too unexpectedly.
List of my apps below generated by app: AppBak (free from market, exports list of your apps to sdcard/AppBak folder). Total Commander: best file manager, also connects to your PC in 1 second, setup takes 30secs, just IP-umber of your PC shared folder/drive. Button savior is the last highest PRO (fully modifiable) version working with nook touch, also my other apps are usually the highest working versions with nook touch, and if need be the PRO versions.TaskSwitcher by shisho is fre & one of the best apps showing what is running, long_press to kill. Advanced task killer pro. Customised news&weather topics, Screen off/ QuickBoot, RSS readers synched via feedly/oldreader/my opml/xml files.
Highest last version of Zeam launcher, v2.8.8, that works on this: 10 icons on dockbar, 5 screens, 8x8 icon grid desktop, I've uploaded here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48813400&postcount=56
Fastmode & #166 kernel running for flicker free zoom in/out & page scrolls in Opera classic (mobile) & pdf readers thanks to guevor/osowiecki & other devs' various codes, overclocked CPU,... Market search & SD-Card installing work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP2CVXzpK5s
NooktouchModManager assigned new functions to nookbar nav buttons (and those other hard buttons mentioned at top), etc., etc.,
All Working solidly too, including nandroid backup with sd-cardless version of CWM
#################################################
AppBak generated list of my apps, lots of testing time by me to identify the highest previous (often Pro versions) working versions since many recent versions don't work on the device:

I put recommended ones in RED font, MUST haves have *****. I might add more apps in future here if I think they are good.
Put Total Commander http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2574655
+ TaskSwitcher (by Shisho) + Quickpic on all android devices + Adfree & Adaway (links below)
On nook also put on your homepage: Quickboot, Advanced Task Killer Widget, WiFi Switch Widget (by Ben Durant), Rotation locker (add 2x widget, portrait : Landscape), Ultimate rotate control (set to show switch in notifications), Screen Off FX (1 touch Screen off Widget) widget, youten MarketSearch:http://www.appbrain.com/app/searchmarket/youten.redo.searchmarket
I did not recommend RSS readers as they are good for people with special interest keywords/feeds. Feedly now manages feeds. The adfree ad killer app above makes greader into pro (no ads, someone on nst xda showed, thanks). RSSDemon version & JustReader pro version were the few good RSS apps that worked on NST, not their newer versions.
If you have no time for RSS, the News & Weather widget I recommended http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085337 there is another beta copy with ads on play. The dev seems discontinued development, works well on all android. Make a big widget for it on homepage, add your city location for weather. I deleted all news keywords it has by default, added my own list of keywords, it searches all news for them. It is on all my androids, lazy man RSS widget refresh on homepage, less problems than RSS widgets too. RSS Apps not their widget displays are no problem & different beasts to News & weather widget, RSS feeds vs. news sites search.

Did you to do anything special to get AirDroid working correctly? I've tried multiple versions of 2.0.x and every single one of them crash when I try to sign-in with my AirDroid account to get full remote "desktop" access rather than direct "lite" access. Also, firmware are you running?
TIA.

Airdrod works fine. In fact when wifi adb-connect has problem connecting or staying connected I run airdroid and that keeps it up. Problem might be your router or firewall, try in another location.
I m on f/w Version 1.2.1 with uimage mod of kernel-166.
I use this instead of airdroid, much better:

Hmm, how odd. It works fine on my HD+, so I don't think it's a network config issue.

I have a self patched/compiled kernel based on Guevor's patch, but using 1.2.1 src instead of 1.1.x, and a few other mods along with FW 1.2.1 - I may have to try 166 to see if that makes any difference, but I suspect it's a userland problem rather than the kernel.

Having now done some further reading, I may have not been clear on the functionality that AirDroid provides. What I'm actually looking for is to be able to remotely control my NST ala vnc - so I guess my next stop is droid vnc server or one of its alternatives.
Anyways - thanks for replying so quickly.

That rules out router hangups. I don't use VMLite or Droid vnc servers, in fact quite the opposite, I use the android phoNe to control devices. If you install 166, make sure it's his later version not the one in the OP, a few pages later.

VNC Viewer which is usually £6.99 ($10) is free for a short period. Install it while you can and get free updated versions of this software for life. I haven't tried it on NST (probably won't work), just installed it on my phone quickly before they withdraw the free offer which can happen any minute.
It lets you control your devices & computers from an Android device or iPhone/iPad. Well known and respected and pricey app.
Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.realvnc.viewer.android&hl=en
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/vnc-viewer/id352019548?mt=8
Logmein app (competitor, used to be free) faq says now after 21 January users only get 7 days then have to pay! Get VNC paid version for free plus updates for ever. Their computer side downloads for use with app:
http://www.realvnc.com/download/viewer/
teamviewer is free, but might stop in future like Logmein!
Get it while you can!

Hi,
I use Moon+ Reader 1.6.5b on my NST and the most recent pro version on my phone. Unfortunately they won't sync due to (I think) different folder structure in Dropbox. Does the 1.3.14 pro version sync to more recent versions? And if so, where did you find it?
Cheers!

I don't use sync or even dropbox anymore so don't know. I mainly use AIReader and sometimes FBReader these days:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597842
I keep old versions of favourite apps as are small. XDA won't allow uploading non free apps or links of but maybe extensive googling will help: Moon+ Reader Pro,1.3.14
Good luck :good:

Keyboard?
Digging up an old thread, but pretty much all these nook simple touch threads are old these days
You look to have a pretty dialed setup, so I can't imagine you're using the stock Nook keyboard. Got a favorite?

Too bad there is not a faster processor in it .. they are stuck with the same thats in the x1.
is this one as well made by htc?
http://www.se-first.com/XPERIA-X2-Live-pictures-hands-on-video.html
Here's a rough hands-on with the UI, and there are tons of pictures on the 2nd page.
I'm actually not that impressed. Hardware-wise, not much new. Sure, a higher-res camera and (finally) an accelerometer. Screen looks flush, not recessed like X1. New notification light strip at the bottom instead of the four corners. Stereo speakers. But seems uninspired -- and I'm a diehard Sony Ericsson fan, been using their featurephones for years.
I also have utmost confidence the XDA wiz's will port this ROM down to X1
And once more they use windows mobile..... I feel sorry for em
EDIT: How many days would it take for these guys to port those things to X1 XD?
New panel looks cool
Nice phone
But why posting this in the rom section?
wow. the EXACT DAY i got my x1, this was annouced. dammit i knew this was gonna happen! lawlz oh well. they both look kickass, but the side view of the x2 reminds me of the sidekick 09 for some reason. also i think the x1's keyboard looks better

Same post, only in correct Xperia section and posted earlier than this. Please search before post!!

only A-GPS, thats not cool.
Panel looks good, I assume it can also be used in X1?
btw, is it possible to flash a X2 ROM into X1?
since they have very similar hardware?

NO iguess cuz x2 have gsensor function
where does it say TV-OUT & G-Senor Acceleration
so disappointed with the fone, no xenon flash >> worse than K800 camera thought
This phone is OEMed by Mobinnova, not HTC.
Say goodbye (probably) to any possibility of cooked ROMs on it...

Oh nooo... lol
Think there'll still be cooked ROMs. Just that well, maybe it'll no longer be supported here.
first i dont like the style of the phone, second it wont be HTC anymore so it is an dead product for me, third i never used the panels, fourth not an bigger screen, not really anything better then on my X1, so my next phone will be no Sony anymore
my2cents
I agree with many of the comments for the X2. Honestly, the ONLY tempting thing about this X2 is just the 8.1 camera. Everything else is not really relevant. Sure G-sensor is fun, but as long as you can flip to landscape then it's good enough. X1 can easily par this X2, besides the camera... therefore I'll be holding onto my X1 for quite some time still

Y, like Samsung Omnia. You can get ROMs, but there are not so many available. I don't think the chefs are cooking them nearly as quickly or as often as here.
I agree, X1 is just as good for my purposes. I don't need more than 3.2MPixel camera and don't use the speaker for listening to anything, headphones way better. The G-Sensor would be nice for games, etc, but I only use landscape for typing on the hardware keyboard and for photos and music tabs in my custom ROM... now there is a simulated G-Sensor for changing to landscape in those tabs, too... So the only thing I like better on the X2 is the bigger screen and flush edges.
One thing I do wonder also is if there are still cooked ROMs, whether there would be any with TF3D since X2 ain't longer produced by HTC (well, ok, it doesn't have to be produced by HTC to have a cooked ROM with TF3D, but guess the chefs here might not cook for the X2 and so no more TF3D).

[APP][2.3.3+][NFC] NFC ReTAG -> re-use of write protected NFC tags

Hi,
the last days I played a lot with my Nexus S and some NFC tags.
One problem was, that most of the NFC tags I have (hotel keycards, lift passes, price tags, merchandising key fobs etc.) are write protected. So no fun with these tags.
Buying plain NFC tags was an option, but I decided to write a little app (NFC ReTAG) that only reads the ID of the NFC Tag and connects theses tags via a database to various functions (e.g. Toggle Wlan/ Bluetooth, launch installed apps, set ringer mode , navigation, tasker tasks, media buttons, timestamp, browser etc.)
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.widgapp.NFC_ReTAG_FREE
Try it out!

Have fun!
I think the URL is broken somehow. Which is a shame since I would very much like to see your program.
I've been halfway to writing something very similar (but geared for Moscow Subway tickets -- a ready source of free non-rewritable cards with guaranteed unique IDs around here) but I'm not halfway as good a Java programmer as I need to be to do it quickly. If you can make a Locale/Tasker plugin to trigger profiles by card ID, I'd gladly pay for a program like that.
Hi Mihara,
link fixed ... at least I think so ...
You can also find the app in the market --> Just search "NFC ReTAG".
It´s version 1.0... so any feature requests like the mentioned plugins are highly welcome ... but at the moment I really can´t promise which features will be in version 2.0 ...
Did you found it ?
I did, thank you.
There is a small problem with the current version:
Sometimes, when the application is not in foreground, tapping a tag only causes it to pop up into foreground, but does not produce a tag action until I tap the tag a second time.
Otherwise, my compliments, works as advertised, and if it could trigger a Tasker profile I would be perfectly happy with it. There probably is a way to do that as is, if I understand your intent syntax correctly, (Tasker allows sending intents to it to trigger profiles directly without messing with the Tasker/Locale plugin interface) but that is a bit too cumbersome to be practical at the moment.
Hi Mihara,
the Tasker integration is already finished and will be included in the next update (next couple of days or hours ;-)) ...You will be able to choose your tasks from tasker as an activity ...

The thing with the background dispatch is that on a write protected tag you can not add an Android Application Record mad, so you have to rely completely on the standard nfc intents .... but perhaps i can tweak something in one of the next updates ...
Update with Tasker integration released.
Have fun!
Congratulations, you got yourself a customer.
Thx a lot !
I played a little with the Tasker integration and Tasker .... I added a profile to Tasker which loads the NFC ReTAG app after shaking the phone ...
A little workaround to bypass the standard nfc background dispatching ... why shouldn´t the integration work vice versa ....
;-)

I think the URL is broken somehow. Which is a shame since I would very much like to see your program.
I've been halfway to writing something very similar (but geared for Moscow Subway tickets -- a ready source of free non-rewritable cards with guaranteed unique IDs around here) but I'm not halfway as good a Java programmer as I need to be to do it quickly. If you can make a Locale/Tasker plugin to trigger profiles by card ID, I'd gladly pay for a program like that.

In the beginning of April such a plug-in was released for Locale and Tasker. It reads the card ID and from that trigger the appropriate profile. It's called Locale NFC Plugin. It can be found here _ttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.badaccess.locale.nfc (sorry for the url but I'm not allowed to post links yet).

This is nice and dark. The inverted gaps are sweet. Wallet no works if you want it. I don't....
I had to uninstall apex and then install for the icons to be modifiable. Not sure why.
Else so far very nice.

The clock when you put it in night time mode in landscape has a long wallpaper bar where the nav buttons would be.
Which base do you use?
I'm not sure but it is aosp isn't it?

What are inverted gapps? Can you explain what that's all about?
So far so good with this ROM. This is one of the fastest ROMs I've had the pleasure of using on the nexus 4. I also love the inverted gapps
This ROM is extremely pleasing to the eye, especially if you are someone who likes to use dark themes on their phones. Very nice work dev.

The easiest way that i can explain "inverted gapps" is that if the original app used a white theme, it would now be black. All the Google apps now have a dark/black theme to them . it is very nice looking. Even the keyboard has a very appealing black theme to it.

i loved this ROM on my Gnex. loving it on my N4 it's fast and responsive. There's enough customization to keep most folks happy :good:
I have been running this for a while now and the only issue I've came across is with Google now, it says there is an update and when I try to update I get an error stating that file was not signed correctly, try deleting app and try reinstalling. I have tried to delete it with Tb and it freezes after I click yes to delete, and then fc. I have even tried different gapps packages and each one brings its own set of issues, like voice search fc, search with camera fc. I tried the latest up date for gapps also and fc city, it was pretty tricky to go faster than fc screen to navigate to recovery. Anyone else experience issues like these and or found a solution.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I've been running this ROM for a week with no issue with Google Now updates popping up for me and is functioning smoothly (with a little delay) . Camera is stable when compared to CM10.1 (-1 week) it would lock up/FC doing rapid snap shots in low light. I'll tryout another ROM later in the week

[APP][2.2+] Classic Notes - Advanced notepad + extras

Hello XDA, I've made a somewhat hybrid notepad app similar in appearance to that of the standard iPhone one but more features than I care to list to be honest. My main goal is to keep the app simple enough to use for casual users but powerful and feature rich enough for the advanced group. I've listed the major points below but their are many more than that and I'm constantly adding to it. I'm always open for suggestions so feel free to drop them off in this thread and I'll be sure to respond

PixelDust ROM is an Android 11 ROM especially built for the current Google Pixel devices and aimed for stability at its core with themes and customizations.
Our philosophy is to offer all the features known from the Google Pixel Factory Images paired with a useful selection of the coolest custom ROM features.
Our project is based off directly from AOSP. We attach great importance to aesthetics, themeability and personalization. For this we have integrated a great selection of space wallpapers and a special theme app (many thanks to Dirty Unicorns for their code base) in the settings of the Android OS.
The PixelDust Crew would highly appreciate if you would take a little of your time and leave your valuable feedback, your honest opinion or just say hello. If you should encounter a bug, or some kind of glitch that seems to be abnormal and you are pretty sure that it is related to the ROM (and not related to any special apps or mods you flashed on top), then please give as many details as possible.
Special shoutouts to Roger.T for his amazingly designed wallpapers, logos and the best bootanimation I ever had on my Pixel!!! If you like our work, please consider to buy Roger the first beer, and a few more for the other team members and spezi77. Cheers!

Attention
With this ROM, safety net check works out of the box!
Our builds use the safety net hack by kdrag0n. It is not necessary to root the device and patch it with Magisk to pass the safety net check.
How can I use VoLTE?
Unfortunately IMS (VoLTE/ViLTE/WFC) is nonfunctional in Android 11 custom ROMs (same problem as with LOS 18.1).
Battery life?
To improve battery life, please switch off Always On Display (AoD).
Hey man, happy to see you shared this! I'll probably end up back on this soon.
The quick pin unlock is definitely something I prefer. I'll see when I can make time to back everything up, etc. Thanks!
Is there a way to try the Sharkley kernel other than this ROM? I've never heard of it and would like to try that (in addition to trying this ROM once I get a chance!).
Hey man, just clean flashed and everything is humming along nicely. 1 thing I noticed and 1 request/suggestion. I restored from cloud without issue, but when I went to "Backup & Reset" in Settings, it had Backup off by default.
The "request" would be Lockscreen Torch. Ultimately it's your choice of course, just something that I can't believe hasn't been implemented in Stock. Super handy.
Thanks for the Sailfish build!

So no gapps needed ? Is this similar to uberstock as I used that before and I liked it. Also is the ROMs between sailfish and Marlin safe to flash interchangeable? There's no difference?
Thanks! Will probably give it a go when I get a chance to backup. Looks like another promising ROM for the Pixel platform

Gapps are included. The ROM is basically an uberstock + a selection of useful features.
I am not exactly sure what you are asking with "Also is the ROMs between sailfish and Marlin safe to flash interchangeable? There's no difference?"
In the sailfish build there are definitely a few different device specific drivers present. So, you cannot flash the marlin build to your sailfish device and vice-versa. But when we are talking about the ROM itself, it has identical features.

So this NOT AOSP based?

It is AOSP based. Says it in the OP.
@spezi77 So far so good with the Rom. Installed it this morning and it's been running for about 5 hours now with no problems. Looking forward to future updates. Keep up the good work.
My fingerprint is always stopping to work after first fail. Is it possible to get more "trys"?

Great thank you for taking the time to build this I'm a fan of uberstock but the maker has not updated in awhile so I'm happy to see this available. I was asking about the features and I think I may have phrased wrong, but you provided good info :highfive:

The Marlin one works for Sailfish too?

Yep. Flash kernel, then TWRP, then reboot. It'll say Marlin but it works.
Is the kernel overclocked stock ?

Nope. Defaults are 2150MHz (big) and 1593MHz (little).
