Can you mount in CWM? If yes, then try this workaround. Mount system and Flash Aroma File Manager. Now you have mounted System folder for pushing and deleting APKs.

I recommend you to check the SuperSU setting as you problem does sound like root access is not available to the app.
Try installing terminal emulator and type "su" in the terminal and press enter if you get "[email protected]: / # " then the apps are getting the access.
then type "reboot" and if your phone reboots then the apps can interact with root file.Give it a try and post the result.

Hi
When I start the Rom Manager I get the message "You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found as "/system/bin/su" or/system/xbin/su".
I have followed the instructions here on how to root my Nexus s and I am able to enter recovery mode and am able to go into bootloader. I also see that is says "Unlock" there.
So the way I understand it, the phone is rooted. Unless I miss something here.
I also see the Superuser icon in my launcher.
What am I doing wrong?
Think this is the wrong area to ask but when you flashed the su file did you mount system in the mount and storage before flashing the su file?
I dont think it was mentioned in the guide.
how do I do that?
Can I reapply the su zip file again?

What method did you use to root?
I am on Korean v30J rom. I don't know what I've done, but sudenly, when I want to backup my applications on titanium, I don´t get root permissions. I've tested it with several applications and it always shows a message of not allowed root permissions.

Hi
I have recently flashed Cassie's XtraLite v11 which is JB. After installing this, I found that I no longer have write access to /mnt/sdcard or /storage/sdcard0..
Whenever I try to run swiftkey, it says downloading language packs failed. I also noticed that an app called SMS backup & restore was throwing an error saying no write access to the folder where it backs up.
I am guessing this might be because I have lost write permissions to the internal sd card. I tried the following but still swiftkey gives an error:
1. Tried reflashing the Philz Kernel
2. Tried wiping everything and flashing the ROM and kernel again
3, Checked SU app and it shows I have root permissions
4. Checked permissions of the above mentioned folders and it shows up only as Read access in ES file explorer. I am not able to change the permissions to write access
5. Tried installing the app called Mount /system (rw / ro) from Softbeans. It says that the system has been mounted as rw but I am still not able to get Swiftkey to work
Any help would be highly appreciated. Please ask for more details, as I might have missed relevant details due to my lack of knowledge

Ok that sounds. Little odd. An you say you have clicked fix permissions in cwm with no joy at all
Also I utilise the new lsa kernel in the new Rom. Flashing the old kernel for ls7 is not necessary. Did you flash the ls7 kernel after flashing th rom if so flash the Lsa edition in Phil's thread

sorry I have never tried this...where do I type this command?
Would it be possible for you to provide me a few links which I can go through to get started with commands?
Is there a noob way to do this? like an app on android?
I would first try fix permissions in cwm. If that fails then you could use terminal emulator to see if above command works.
Then if all fails I would copy all internal files from sd card to the pc. Then in settings unmount internal memory usb storage and wipe it clean. This is untouched in Rom installation.
Test you can write to.it I.e download file from internet if good
Then copy files back
Else
I would flash stock ls7
F lash Phil's kernel in Odin then flash the custom Rom again

1-you need to install android sdk in your pc from HERE
2- then connect your mobile to your pc via usb cable
3- from command line :
export PATH
adb root
adb shell
4-now you are inside your mobile
for internal sd issue:
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /storage/sdcard0
for external sd issue :
Code:

1. Tried fixing permissions from cmw to no effect
2. Installed terminal emulator and wrote the command you mentioned...before that did su to go to root user...command implemented succesfully (no error). Still there is no change the permissions on the sdcard0 folder are rwx,rwx,r_x....I am not able to choose the last as write...I dont know why it is considering me as an other user
I installed the android sdk and launched eclipse as mentioned on the website...however when I try to type the export command it says that export is not recognized...I am sure this is a very very silly mistake but I dont even know if I should have typed this in the normal cmd on windows
Trying to reinstall everything from scratch now...
Okay an update:
I did everything from start and reinstalled...everything seems to be working fine at the moment...hopefully it will continue that way
one thing...do you know if the last installed apps are backed up somewhere and all the apps would directly be installed from play store? It used to happen on CM where apps would automatically download from playstore. I dont want to use TB or app2zip as that might add new variables which might lead to potential problems
Did you go the stock root first.
I don't use restore Google option as apps I don't want auto download.
I just use the all apps section in market my apps option. Only takes about ten minutes for me to reinstall all apps

No I didnt go back to stock rom first as I am not sure how to do that...wouldnt that be unsafe since it might have a buggy kernel? let me try to search where to go back to stock from.
Thanks a lot for your prompt responses, really helpful.
What did you do before it went. Was it installing app if so which one.
You should bide able to go back to stock safely. Using Odin.

The properties of the folder were still rwx rwx r_x but swiftkey was working...then I ran an app called Rescan Media Boot(which stops media scanner) and then the Swiftkey error showed up which said cant load language packs...
BTW, the other option where you have mentioned I can delete everything on the internal sd...the step to copy all the files of internal sd and copying back is just for backup purposes (to save my data) or is it something that is required for android to function...as I dont have anything important on the internal sd I can delete all the files directly?
It's for backup purposes. Apps also store save data in android and data folder so always good to keep a copy.
Out of curiosity why use the anti media scanner

Used the anti media scanner because everywhere people have suggested that on JB it is Media which eats a lot of battery...same thing was happening to me as well
Now, I tried to delete everything from the USB storage...it says that it is formatting USB storage but even after formatting the available space remains the same...is there anyway to do this wipe from CWM? is that safe?
Okay your advice on internal storage and this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985101 solved it...
I was able to format the internal SD through computer and now it is mounted as writable
It looks that I had a bad file/folder/whatever on my internal storage, so the system put /sdcard (internal memory) on read only as it notice the bad thing.

Hello,
I've unlocked the bootloader on my One, then proceeded to install supersu via zip through clockworkmod recovery.
I rebooted, attempted to gain root access, and was unable to.
I then rebooted into clockworkmod recovery and attempted to install superuser from this thread, rebooted and was unable to gain root. I then installed supersu from the same thread, and was unable to gain root.
Lastly, I attempted to wipe the cache partition and dalvik cache in effort, and still I am not able to gain root.
I'm unsure exactly what to do from here on out, as the process is truly very simple, but just not working.
Should I flash an official recovery and start over?
Thanks,
Matt
Have you opened the su app and updated the binaries?
I used twrp recovery a few days ago when I rooted. try to flash latest version of twrp through adb and wipe, clear cache, and retry.
If you still have trouble, check out wwjoshdew on youtube. I followed his instructions and rooted/unlocked with no hiccups.

Thanks for replying quickly.
The state I'm in now is:
- The SuperSu apk is gone.
- Superuser is installed.
- Root Checker, Helium, ES File Explorer's "root explorer" report no root
- Shark reports root (aka starts).
- superuser info reports `su` 3.2.18
- Used ES File Explorer to verify presence of `/system/bin/su`
Any idea on what could be wrong?
Thanks again,
Matt
How about another try on TWRP 2.6.3.0 recovery?
Sure, I will try this, Originally I tried TWRP, but couldn't access my internal storage (don't know why). Attempted sideload and failed, so I install clockwork and was able to install superuser.zip from /sdcard/.
Thanks!
Grabbed TWRP 2.3.6.0 from: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7wls/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-m7wls.img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-m7.img
> REBOOT BOOTLOADER
> BOOTLOADER
> RECOVERY
I then located the SuperSu zip and installed. Now I receive "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSu cannot install it. This is a problem!"
Rebooted into recovery and installed SuperUser.
Rebooted the system and attempted to access SuperUser, and it works. Verifies the presence of `/system/bin/su`.
Accessing helium and I don't have root.
So what do I do from here?
(sorry didn't brick my phone)

Get the latest version of SuperSU from here
http://download.chainfire.eu/382/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip
I would suggest using it as it is updated more often then superuser as far as I know
Thanks,
I saved the file to my internal storage, restarted in TWRP, installed and erased the caches.
After rebooting... it works! You're the man!
I just got the One and just performed the OTA update the other day, so I am on 4.3. I bet this is what the "problem" was! So the updated SuperSU must be compatible with 4.3.
Thanks again!

Matt

4.3 was your problem. You needed to use a different SuperSU and this is the case with anyone else who wants to root 4.3 or 4.4. I believe I used SuperSU v1.65. Glad you got it working!

Ok, we're making progress! I installed the new TWRP recovery. Then I was able to find the SU zip file and flash it from there. All signs pointed to it working fine! There were no errors that I could see. Rebooted. Tried to open Titanium Backup and it hangs up with a message saying Asking for root rights... I do not find SuperSU anywhere in my apps tray. You've been super helpful so far! Now what?
