Hi there! I am from the UK and am planning on buying the Galaxy Tab P1010 Wifi version. but i have read something on the internet that the Wifi version has a dumbed down/older-gen & weaker processor (i.e. the SGX530) compared to the 3G's SGX540. is this correct? or is this only in some countries or territories?
also, why the slower bluetooth 2.1 and not retaining the 3.0 from the 3G version?
I have rung and been told by Samsung UK themselves that they don't know (read: eother they don't care or know nothing at all) that the Wifi version has an older processor.
Can someone please confirm this with me.
Thanks.
Here in Australia they are trying to fob off the older wifi version to people for a really low price. And yes you are correct it does have a dumbed down version of the processor.
Personally I would leave well alone.

Slower CPU/GPU combo, BT 2.1 instead of 3.0
The WiFi Tab can play 720p Video while the 3G can play 1080p. I think this is related to the CPU/GPU combo change. But i havn't tried the WiFi version myself, so i don't know if there isn't a way to play 1080p anyway. The 3G plays 1080p smooth (Hardware accelerated if the right content)
When i rung Samsung UK they were "trying to play down the rumour" and was always telling me stuff like "refer to the website" (which aren't updated always) and "don't believe what you hear on websites and people" and "models would differ from each country". duh! what were they trying to say then....?
It's just a disappointment as i plan to buy the Wifi Tab this weekend. they got hold of my number and they havn't got back to me.
So, is it true then that the Galaxy tab wifi has an older/slower/weaker processor for the UK and basicaly elsewhere?
can someone confirm or deny this please?
I sell these and do you know what do not know the cpu but will find out in the morning for you as my spec sheets also do not list the cpu on the wifi but they do for the gsm ... now that is bloody annoying.
Also Sammy do not claim that both will play higher than 720 but I know that have no issues with the wifi one that I have which to be honest prefer to the gsm one

Actually, turn around the box of a P1000. Says something about full hd and 1080p, while the P1010 has a nice 720p in that same spot.
Not to mention the P1000 does it with h264 video, while the P1010 does 720p only if in mp4.

I've got the P1010 and whilst I miss the whole rom flashing thing its still a Fab device - and lets face it, good and cheap for the wifi version. Had I of had a spare extra ₤100 I might well have gone for the P1000 but I wont let buyers regret kick in! As a standalone device its great.

Will do when i get them in again today.... I just went to Samsung.com to see the specs... But that doesn't surprise me at all regarding how often they update the site.

Samsung has shown arrogance and insenistivity when it comes to their already poor customer support/after sales/tech support services.
Just sighting an example her. i sent my Galaxy Apollo a few months ago to Samsung for repairs and updates as it was , very slow, kept freezing, etc, after 2 weeks all they did was "flash2 the handset. nothing else. the phone stayed the same. rubbish service TBH.
how can a big company like Sammy get away with things like that. the website's not up to date, no dedicated disccusion forums site and so on....
on a brighter note i would still buy a Samsung Android phone over anyone else as they are still good when it comes to audio and video format support on higher-end phones....
Sorry didnt have a chance to read all the posts but yest the p1010 is not as good as the 3g version. I have the p101o and it is excellent for web/reading books/comics and is ok at the rest but no where near as good as the 3g version for games/videos.
But head on down to carphonewearhouse today and they are selling the 3g version for £250 (I got my tab for £150 on a special opening day offer and I think thats what it is worth) You will have to be quick for the carphonewearhouse offer as they are clearing a lot of stock.

I totally agree. For my modest needs (internet radio streaming, music player, reading books, browsing the web, the occasional youtube video) it's been just great. We still don't have 3G out here in the boondocks, so this is filling the niche. Yes, Samsung sucks for downgrading the CPU and graphics chip. But I can't complain about the box. It does what I want it to do.
With the pouring rain behind (or rather on top of) me i went to Oxford Street and got myself the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3G version and according to the CPW salesman it was the very last one. got it for a bargain price of £250 from a high of £399 only yesterday. how do you top that?
With 2.3 coming and with a future Honeycomb/Gingerbread OS things should get brighter for the tablet. i hope.
Hello, first of all I apologise that I didn't bother to read through more than 3 pages of Q&A before asking. Also my English is horrible, I know.
So basically my GF has her Note N7000 International version aaaand she somewhat has a habit to drop it (2 times a month or so, lol). Now after latest drop and SIM change WIFI and 3G started behaving really wierd. Strangely enough, 3G works on some paid apps and internet but when trying to stream video or use internet share via WiFi it fails. Just says Error in settings.
Now I elimimated the SIM change as a problem since everything works 100% on her old Galaxy Gio.
Any ideas? I'm not familiar with Samsung devices in any way
Oh and everything is 100% stock with latest OTAs.

I bought a T-Mobile note 4 on craigslist I am kind of skeptical about. I pulled the battery out and it says made in China with no reference to Samsung (picture attached). However, everything else seems to check out although the stylus seems kind of hit or miss with the button on it. Download mode shows Knox. I was able to flash TWRP and install a custom ROM. I looked at the hardware via Samsung phone info app and it seems to check out. Says it was manufactured in Vietnam which I believe is where T-Mobile versions are manufactured. Can anyone with T-Mobile note 4 confirm the sticker I am showing is correct? Thanks.
Looks good to me. A lot of newer batches show China and Vietnam. Go into recovery and see if you see any chinese writting. Power+Home+Volume Up.

As one who owns an iPhone, to buy and use the GW5 Pro to the fullest, I am fine with owning a cheap Android device for Samsung Health. I am not in a country where SHM is supported. Can I do the below? If so, what are the caveats/limitations?
1) Preferable: Buy an Android tablet and install the modded SHM app on it. If this can work without issues, what's a nice tablet to get?
2) Buy an Android phone. Not preferable but I will get one if no other choice. Is Samsung Galaxy recommended over other Android phones? Since the app isn't supported in my country, does it matter what Android phone I install it on?
Please let me know.
And the reason I don't want an Apple watch is because they're useless for anything other than manual heartrate monitoring. I used the Apple Series 7 for three months and it spent less time on my wrist and more on the charging puck. What I want is body measurement, calorie intake, stress measurement and passive sleep tracking for a targeted daily routine.

Firstly ,
I can tell you ,an Android Tablet, wont work with a Samsung Galaxy watch 4 or any other Samsung Smartwatch ( as far as i know or my own experience )
I have a old Samsung Gear S3 ,Galaxy Fit and the Samsung Watch 4 .
I have installed Galaxy Wearable app on my Android Tablet S 6 Lite ,
It installs ,but that it .....i got a "toast message " basically
stating that the Tablet is not compatible with a /any smatchwatch ...???
Yes" somebody ""might have found a workaround ,to this....?
but i doubt it ,as most of the post ,i have seen on Web ,has been complaining that they cannot install/connect their smartwatch .
Yes ,it should be compatible with Samsung phone or other Android phones ???
Secondly
To get an idea what you can do re SH app and workaround on how to enable certain function ? , that might not be available in your Country , ( ? ) read this XDA thread ,for ideas ..... !!!

Hello Everyone, I hope you all are fine... ~~~ WearOS WATCHES ONLY ~~~ ~~~ FEATURES, BUGS & FUTURE WORKS~~~ FEATURES: Works on Samsung Watch4 and Watch5 (as mentioned Samsung WearOS Watches), Multilanguage, no root detection, no country...

Good luck
Thanks for your comment. It's too bad that it won't work with a tablet, I could've used a tablet.
Just on that second question then; since I'll be side-loading the app, will any phone be equally good or will getting a Samsung Galaxy phone still be better. Also, will a phone like Samsung Galaxy A03 work? That seems to be the cheapest phone right now.
It will work on any Android phone, but it works best with Samsung phone. Especially the Galaxy phones. People have had issues pairing the watch to other phones, but I have read others that have paired with little to no issues.
May I ask, would a FitBit type of watch work where you are located? It would have the functions you are looking for and work with most phones.

The Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis is what draws me to this watch primarily. And the fact that this has a larger battery which can last 3 days or more. I'm less interested in those other basic features like steps counted, GPS tracking, exercise activities etc and more into state of being. So yeah, a fitbit-type watch wouldn't work.
OK. Understand. In that case, if possible, you should stick with a Galaxy phone. If you use another Samsung phone you should be OK but be aware you may have to work with it to get the watch to connect. I would not recommend using other Android phones. The connect app for the Watch 5 is the Samsung Wear App and if you get a different Android device, you will have to side load the app and hope it will work.
A friend of mine was in a smiliar situation with his GW4. At first he connected it to his wife's phone, but then he got a small cheap Android phone, which worked great for him. This is what I would suggest you as well. You can carry it with you or not, the watch works perfectly in airplane mode, or if you want the notifications in standalone mode (if connected to wifi or LTE).
You can even buy a cheap budget Samsung phone if you want to have ECG and BP out of the box, but you can easily sideload ECG and BP apps (instructions here on XDA) and use them with any Android phone, so it doesn't have to be a Samsung phone at all.
I got a Watch 5 Pro just 10 days ago, and I'm super happy with it. It's lighter and smaller than I thought it would be and it even looks much better than in pictures. On a hand it looks less thick than on photos. The band is comfortable and so much easier to use than other regular bands. It charges fast and the battery life is great - 2 full days with AOD and 3 without AOD. It could go for longer if I don't fiddle with it as much as I do, lol! And not have literally everything on, even automatic workout detections and sleep tracking. Google maps navigation on a watch is great, btw! More useful than I thought it would be.
I have a non-Samsung Android phone and everything works great, of course.

Everything works perfectly for every Android phone! Samsung's Wear app is really good and has worked perfectly for me for already 2 years with one Tizen and one WearOS Samsung watch. No delay with a single notification ever! I can't say the same for some other bands and watches I tried (Honor/Huawei and Xiaomi).
Sideloading the ECG and BP apps works as well on GW5 Pro. No problem there, thanks to ADB and Android being so customizable...

If you're asking will any Android phone work with the Watch 5, yes any Android phone will work, and there's no advantage of having a Samsung model.

I disagree with this. There is no reason not to use any brand Android phone with a Galaxy Watch.
