Hello everyone
Warning
Only install this recovery only if you have to or want to use it, I'm not responsible for bricked phones if you try to install it on a different device or by using an obscure method.
(Even if bricking a SGS4 device is more complicated than installing a recovery ^^)

I did a quick check, but i don't think so! Anyway, no offense, but who cares! Just put the zip's on the internal!
Is this recovery good for backing up android 4.3?I know that with Philz Recovery due the fact that i didn`t select the option (Proces SE content) whed i restored the backup the IMEI/Baseband of the phone was lost. That happened to me when i was using a I9505.Now i`m on I9506 and i really need to backup my ROM.So....for short...is it safe to backup android 4.3 and restore it later without any problems, using this recovery?Thank you for your hard work.

recovery.img it should work.I don't know if the flashable zip will work because before flashing it will read your build.prop and check for the product name wich is different.Take a flashable zip made for your model and replace the image inside it and try.

You can backup android 4.3 with this recovery but you cannot restore with it because it does not "process selinux context"
so....if you try to restore 4.3 with it you will end in a bootloop and no efs partiton!
Hey!
Then we cant use it if its not recognise exsd card. I installed it, backed up but I CANT recover from backup, because after restarting and looking for backup files from device or from sd, I CANT see them. Because its not useful. Just for wiping system and cache we can do it from STOCK RECOVERY.
Peace for all!!!
Hey!
Even if I was backuped, coped files to PC and after restart and copyed back to device and try to recovery, the recovery JUST NOT FIND THEM!!!
We still need working recovery.
Peace for all!!!

Yeah, 3.0.2.8 didnt work either. Only 3.0.1.4 works without vibrations.
Works like a charm.
Anyway to add this aswell: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745
So you have 2 option.
Internal Sd and External Sd?
That would be awesome!
USB mount doesn't work. Is it me?
Recovery shows 3.2.0.0 but the app still reports it as 3.0.2.8 - is this for compatibility?
recovery works fine, thank you, but i noticed a tiny bug:
date of backup is wrong, it shows me 27.04.2011 instead of 27.05.2011

yep. same thing (like at 3.1.0.1)...
just made a nandroid restore and recovery can't mount /boot during restore.
It's probably why we can't ( for exemple ) flash a CM rom ( after nandroid stock rom ) play with it and if you want to return to stock rom using your backup you get a bootloop
Quite common (and annoying), that. Happens each time I've restored a CM NANDroid, have to restore, then reflash CM.
hi. just a noob question
can i use this recovery to flash all the roms for the optimus 2x. like modaco, cm7 and other modaco based custom roms. ?
i been reading the forums and there are so many recoveries. im kinda confused.
Yes you can.
There are only 2 types of recovery in reality, this type (external SD) and the one I built for internal SD use. If you're not sure what you need, pick the external one (unless you don't have an SD card).
bit of a noob..but cant seem to be able to install it. can someone give me a guide to install this with a mac thanks in advance

Hi to all!! I've done a little modification to the original CWM to add support to the secondary partition we use in every CM/MIUI etc...
All is done! Now works without an error of mounting "/sd-ext" due to an "unknown volume type!!" in recovery.fstab.
I also included the recovery for the SDMerge and also a linux script. Sorry, but the archive is too big to post it here on xda so i had to upload it on 4shared.
Requirements:
1) Rooted phone (obviously!!)
Instuctions Windows:
1) Download the package from 4shared
2) Extract it in any folder you prefer
3) Make sure you have USB Debugging on
4) Run "CWM-Installer.bat" as administrator
5) Hit enter
6) Wait, if it takes too long simply disconnect the device and reconnect it immediatly.
5) Enjoy the new recovery!!:victory:
Instructions Ubuntu/Debian/Mint:
1) Download the package from 4shared
2) Extract it
3) Make sure you have the sdk properly installed with adb (if not check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100673 )
4) Run the script by typing
Code:
./CWM-Installer.sh
5) Enjoy the new recovery
The script is for stock roms but it works well even on CM or CM-Based ROMs so don't worry if you get errors, it's normal.
If you want your old recovery back you can open the CWM-Installer.bat with an editor and replace this
Code:
Files\adb push Files\recovery.img /data/local/recovery.img
With this:
Code:
Files\adb push Files\[COLOR=Red]CWMrecovery_orig[/COLOR].img /data/local/recovery.img
or if you want the recovery for the SDMerge just replace:
Code:
Files\adb push Files\recovery.img /data/local/recovery.img
with this:
Code:
Files\adb push Files\SDmergerecovery.img /data/local/recovery.img
And then run the script again.

Are you talking about e405? Or you want a recovery modded to support the partition table in stock rom?
I think I can but I need more specs of the partitioning you use for the sd. I need the specific "/dev/block/mmcblk***" of the partitions in the sd. Nothing more (and a little bit of time obviously!).

it's for stock rom in E400 (E400 and E405 shared the same partitioning system though).
it's the same partition structure created by CWM recovery :
swap -> /dev/block/mmcblk1p1
ext4 -> /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 -> mounted as /data
vfat -> /dev/block/mmcblk1p3
thanks again for your effort

Here it is, to flash it use my script replacing the recovery.img with the one attached and report if it works or not.
Btw, are you sure that the "/data" partition is ext4? Because if it's wrong the recovery doesn't mount it.
Very sorry for the very late reply, I just had the time to test your new recovery (I had to create flashable zip for it since the script didn't work) and it work perfectly.
Now we have alternative to increase data partition without having to edit apps like gellmar's StockMergE400, means it will be compatible with all stock-based rom :victory:
Thanks again @Cobmaster :good:
Don't worry about it. It's very pleasing to see that it works.

Hey there! It has been a while..
You may have noticed Team Win Recovery Project (short: TWRP) is available, but still not for our device,
and it seems I am the only one who spends time on making TWRP fully compatible
for our device which includes some bug fixes and modifications.
Both, TWRP and the kernel were compiled on my pc, using OS X Yosemite (10.10) as host system
from CM sources.
Use at your own risk.
I am not responsible for any damages on your device.

What is TWRP?
A fully touch driven custom recovery developed by TeamWin with a nice and easy to use user interface.
You can install your ROM's, backup it or restore it from/on your internal or external storage.
Backups can be compressed which saves alot of storage space and backups can have an individual,
user chosen name. Some unique features are an integrated filemanager, shell access,
rooting and the option to set a display timeout and display brightness.
TWRP includes alot of more features that I listed.. just explore yourself.
Download (also check the #Download page):
recovery263.img => TWRP 2.6.3.0 (STABLE)
recovery283_1.img => TWRP 2.8.3.0 (BETA)
For developers and for GPL reasons:
gkernel_x3_defconfig.zip => Used kernel defconfig (no kernel sourcecode changes have been made except mac os x specific kernel building fixes)
Sources (using cm10.2 sourcecode with cm p880 kernel):
p880_device: https://bitbucket.org/supergordon/device_lge_p880
p880_recovery_twrp: https://bitbucket.org/supergordon/twrp_lge_p880
p880_kernel: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/lge-kernel-p880
How do I install TWRP on my unlocked device?
Option 1: Fastboot
Code:
adb reboot oem-unlock
fastboot flash recovery recovery263.img
fastboot reboot
Option 2: ADB (put first the recovery image to the root directory of your internal storage)
Code:
adb shell
su
cat /sdcard/recovery263.img > /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
What device specific changes have been made?
Reboot options now properly working
Use CM's device specific fix to blank the display
Add missing external storage display name
Add missing screen brightness path
Modified display dimming delay
Fix rendering bugs that caused high battery consumption and device heat-ups
Add proper handling of the quadcore. Reduces backup time by about 10%.
UMS support (external storage only)
Since 2.6.3.0:
Using cm10.2 source
Using cm kernel
Exclude wiping sd-ext (bugfix for 2.6.1.0)
Since 2.8.3.0:
Now using twrp.fstab
Remove UMS support (TWRP has now MTP support. both internal and external storage are shown on the PC)
Add data/media[/0] button in Advanced page. Pressing the button toggles between /data/media and /data/media/0
Added missing option to (not) backup/restore recovery partition.
SD-Ext support (secondary partition of your microsd has to be ext4 formatted)
Using twrp sources from 30 december 2014

Thanks awesome! i really like twrp much more than cwm.
Is it possible that Fix Permissions is not working? it takes about a second to finish, with cwm it was 5 to 10 minutes.
Thanks!
Fastboot mode :
cannot load 'recovery.img': No error
Why?
Thx

@tiflao
Recovery.img is not in your fastboot directory. I'm 100 percent sure

be sure you change to the directory where you stored recovery.img at your terminal(linux, osx)/command prompt(windows) with the "cd" command.
Thx guys
@gordon0001:
How is the development of the next version of GBootmenu going on? I am really looking forward to see TWRP 2.5.0.0 and CWM 6.0.3.1 in just one menu.
Thanks for TWRP 2.5.0.0! Good work!
Thanks gordon0001. Will make flashing and everything else a lot easier. Installed using the All in one P880 kit.
Have a good weekend!

Hey!
Nice to see you like my work, but this thread is about TWRP and not GBootMenu. Post your questions about my other work in the correspondending release thread.

Thank you!
The all in one kit installs an outdated, dangerous to use, version of TWRP.
Please install the new, updated version of TWRP or your hardware could be damaged.
Instructions can be found in the first post #1.

I forgot to add that I replaced the old one with your one in the toolkit's data files (just renamed the v2.5 to whatever the toolkit was using and deleted the old one).
Thanks for the concern though. Currently loving archived backups
TWRP is damn good! more functions, faster backup/restore etc., thanks!
Thanks for your work .. I love the recovery so much .. Thumbs up
Loving the touch, everything works as it should

im on a roll tonight haha,
next up for release is my custom build of TWRP 3.0.0 recovery this is the latest version of the highly popular TWRP custom recovery.
a
this recovery is fully working as far as i can tell except that it takes a short time to boot so be patient, once booted it is fine,
this recovery also has F2FS support to go with my new custom release
3 Ways to install now, odin image, standard flashable zip (should work from older TWRP) and a basic img file that can be flashed via terminal or TWRP
download links:
changelog
Code:
Fixed MTP
Fixed display brightness
thanks to hennymcc for the help and his device trees that i have modified a little
instructions for converting data to F2FS without losing data(hopefully)
requirements:
microsd card
1. boot into TWRP
2. select the backup options
3. choose your external microsd card using the choose storage button
4. make sure data is selected and start backup
5. once backup is complete, go to wipe and then advanced wipe, select data and click repair or change filesystem and then change file system
6. select f2fs and follow instructions until format is done,
7. restore the backup of data you just made
8. be sure to flash my DMPKern in odin before attempting to boot after f2fs conversion
any suggestions or comments feel free to ask and any donations however small would be greatly appreciated also

Excuse my stupidity. I just saw a zip file and thought I might flash it via twrp. now I flashed via odin with success. But the new twrp crashes on backup.

sorry, no error. It just freezes pretty early, once at 5%, once at 2%
It would be great if we have it for the g800h as jackeagle build of twrp can't flash aroma zip :v

I get the same error as well. At least this version of TWRP can SEE my 64 GB microSD. 2.8.7.0 couldn't see it.
I haven't tried this yet,but I certainly will at some point. I just wanted to say thanks for all your work on this device. It is really appreciated!
ive disabled to download for now until i fix the issue.
