Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 Honeycomb 2.5 - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Does anyone know where i can download Honeycomb 2.5 from Spacemoose? The download links on this link do not work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1020167
I have the GSM Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000.
Thanks!

Honeycomb is a dead product. It isn't good for any tablet.
Why do you want it?
KitKat is running much better,

You could go back to a gingerbread rom like galaxy cubed, or forward to a ice cream sandwich rom. Kit kat runs good, but is still experimental.

AFAIK: The last official ROM from Samsung for the GT-P1000 was Gingerbread 2.3.6. I don't think anyone ever made a Honeycomb ROM for the GT-P1000, as Honycomb never had support for GSM. Unless I miss my guess here. In any case its best to move on to Jellybean 4.1.2 (e.g. CM10). Everything in this ROM WORKS! i.e. BlueTooth, Cameras, both Front, and Back. Both Photo and Video Capture WORK! This is not currently the case with CM10.1, or CM10.2 Builds though, and given the imminent release of CM11, I very much doubt its gonna change. As those "Devs" have pretty much told me to move on to CM11.
Now CM11 fixes the broken (Front), Camera from CM's 10.1 & .2, but introduces a new Bug that kills the Camera should you wish to capture Video. USB Connections to the internal / External SD Card seems to also be borked in the current builds, and I'd be pressed to spot any discernible differences between KitKat 4.4.2, and Jellybean 4.1.2, other then ART, which itself isn't quite ready for Prime Time, even on such Devices it was meant for, much less the lowly GT-P1000.
So IMHO the best ROM going now would be the CM10 Build from 20130203 -- http://goo.im/devs/cm/p1/nightly/cm-10-20130203-NIGHTLY-p1.zip

What is The best rom to use

I am getting a bit peed off with my stock froyo tab it random reboots and doesn't turn on properly at times I have the p1000 uk GSM not wifi only I dont mind what I run asking as it is fast as hell, I have a nexus s so its a bit mad switching from devices at times.
Thanks xda

Take the Overcome expiriance. It feels very fast and smooth. Everything works without any issues and the community support (if you need it) is great. At the moment Alterbridge does not stop his developing (next version of his rom is in the oven) so we will get more and more performance.
PS: for a nexus S look you can flash the GreengerBlack theme.
(I know, I know......)
I came from overcome to dip7's rom and I can tell you that it is faster but it's closer to stock. Overcome has icons that look cool for some people but i like dip7's rom better.

Cool thanks for the replys guys quick question if I was to flash it is there anything or any builds for the uk model as there is so many different types of tab models. I don't want a brick

If you make your choise for overcome, the installation will be easy as sleep. You just have to follow the guide on "teamovercome.net". The Rom is made for GSM Tabs like yours. It's allmost impossible to brick the Tab.

I can give you instructions to install dip7's rom if you want cos I have a UK tab too. I can tell you how to install overcome too.

For both roms you must flash stock gingerbread. Here is the guide I used cos i was a bigger noob then:

The honeycomb rom by spacemoose1 is not complete yet. The last build he released was about 3 months ago. I tested it and it was laggy and many things were broken. I recommend gingerbread for now until spacemoose1 gets onto a better stage of his build.

I really appreciate all the replys, ever since I got my nexus s I joined this site and I've never known a community to be so helpfull. I will go with the overcome, I watched the YouTube video of honeycomb it doesn't have the acceleration looks good but I'd rather have the "smooth as butter flash" I will hopefully flash before or after work tonight and will report back

Overcome or CM7 ?
I can see that overcome is pretty popular. I dont hear anybody touting CM7; I've got CM7 running on an HTC Desire HD and an LG Optimus One, and I'm pretty happy with it -- much better that the stock ROM, and on the O1, probably the nicest ROM out there. I'm just wondering a bit how much better worse it is compared to Overcome ?
I used to like cm7 but it is buggy as he'll Evan the last release was on my nexus s id have times where my screen would look like a burnt in screen animation, I would have to reboot all the time best roms i've used on my nexus is stock and miui only problem with miui us is the keyboard vibration don't work

Guys,
I just got a T-Mobile version of TAB,
I'd like to flash to Gingerbread, or a rom which supports Gtalk video and Skype,
What are some of your suggestions?
Thank you
Overcome supports it I think I'd start with that if you can get overcome

Definitely what you want. I've been an Overcome fan for a while now, been very happy with it.
I use Overcome since version 2.0.0 RC1. In my opinion it is the best ROM for the Gtab 7". It is fast, does not have too much bugs and the support by Team Overcome is very good. The development of the ROM is fast and continually.
Not to forget the very good installation instruction and the Change Log for every new version of the ROM.

Gnote aosp ics vs. Gnexus aosp ics

Anyone here compared imilkas ics to the native ics of the galaxy nexus?
Besides the couples bugs mentioned does it seem as smooth as the gnexus?
Better?
Worse?
Would love to hear. Thanks

I suppose but I really like the debloated ics. As in galaxy nexus ics. I am assuming that the note ics aosp is still with touchwiz but everything touchwiz related wiped out but I still would like to know performance wise I'd its as snappy as galaxy nexus if not more snappy?
I love my nexus but I feel if I had what I have on my nexus on a note I'd be happier.
Also I don't need the greatest and latest from a nexus but I need this style ics which Imilkas from provides.
Hope you guys understand what I'm trying to get at here and foolish as some of you may believe it is.

Someone said that imilka should provide Samsung with a download link, so they could distribute it instead of the official ICS.
Bugger me if he wasn't right.

Is that jellybean will come to Samsung galaxy tab ?

Just now I saw from the news of the jellybean release already ,but who else know the Samsung galaxy tab can support?and will get the rom Form us?

With Sammy dragging their feet for the other Tabs, I'm wondering if they were waiting for JB, rather than upgrade everyone to ICS first, only to have JB along very soon (well...). They've promised to upgrade to ICS, but with JB hitting some devices before ICS does, there's probably a poor dev deep in the bowels of Samsung rolling their eyes, saying 'already?'. To just save time, skip ICS and go right to JB. Though no idea how much things are different. I suspect the jump from ICS->JB is less than HC->ICS, or rather the process is understood better.
IF it's to happen, guess we'll hear from the official sources in the next few days.
Officially? No chance.

JB isnt a big upgrade, Its only small updates onto ICS so I see no reason why we wouldn't see a unofficial rom.
If your waiting for an "official" rom then you have zero chance so dont even attempt to get your hopes up.
No need to wait for Samsung to release rom anyway, custom roms of ICS work much better then any Sammy rom would.
no big update?^_^
they are new lockscreen styles, better functionality to mod, more energy and gpu tweaks from samsung and much more

In terms of usability the changes are significant but I guess merging the new code into ICS is more trivial than when we were coming from honeycomb.
hahahahah. Stop you! Samsung is just an another idiot company that just want money. "Do you want Jellybean? Buy the another galaxy tab."
I hope they dont skip an ICS release so then we can get fully working ROMS then at least if JB doesnt get an official port at least devs can incorporate it into fully working ROMS.
i already have it. See video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SarOtjKRFLM&feature=youtu.be
Theres nothing to watch in that video....

You mis-understand my point. JB is a update on top of ICS, instead of a huge rewrite compared to GB>ICS.
there's a chance that gtab 2 will get updates to JB, as it is only from 4.0 to 4.1 and they don't need to change the UI very much.
also, galaxy note 10.1 is on the way to be launch & i guess samsung will use JB in it. since galaxy note 10.1 will be like gtab 2 very much, i don't think there's reason why samsung shouldn't update gtab to JB

There certainly is,just head over to the development section and its there for the downloading
Hello,
You can download an alpha version, with some bugs and freezes, here.
But I see in other forum that ICS will be port for galaxy tab P1000 in few weeks, so why not Jelly Bean?
PS : Sorry for my english
i have looked into the developer page of jelly bean and i think that they did some pretty nasty work on it, they also made a video of the new translation engine, and the difference is huge (two of the same phone with ics and jelly bean).
anyway, only a fool will wait for an official update from Samsung (because they won't)
If I helped you, please press the thanks button
Who cares about samsung official update they already quit og tab.i m already using JB on my p1000 n it works like charm however still in alpha.great work by c desai and humber.Build 3 is perfect for daily use.

Stable rom?

I'm looking for a good stable rom. I don't need the most features, stability and compatibility is more important. Currently I'm running fat and creamy, but I'm seeing a lot of graphical problems. A working camera would be a nice touch too.
Any suggestions?

I'm using jcsullins' cm10 preview and before that, the official CM9 nightlies. I recommend either of them.
Thanks I'm trying the latest cm9 nightly on gooim. Not sure if that is the same but it seems to be working good.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
I'd recommend cm10 preview. Been running it for a while and it runs great! Why use cm9 when you can take advantage of cm10 with no side effects?
Well the tablet is mainly for my kids and they likely won't notice the difference. I read something about having to repartition for jelly bean. Is this true with that rom?
On a side note, does anyone have a properly working camera. On the roms I've tried, it kind of works, but the image is stretched so badly it's basically worthless.

When you install cm10, use acmeinstaller3. Might as well do a completely clean install.
Run acmeuninstaller, then in webos and preware download and install 'remove android'.
There are several good how to's here and over at webos nation forum. You can install cm9 using acmeinstaller3.
I would use cm9 official nightly, since your kids will be using it. I recently changed from that to jcsullins' cm10 preview and it's running mostly fine.
The camera on the TP sucks anyway....... It works much better in webos, which is a good os. Tweaked, Imo, webos is the better of the 2, but its lack of apps compared to android kills it.
Feel free to pm if you need some more help.

Need a detailed stock JB review

I am among those who waitrd and shouted so much about this upcoming JB.
I never tried a leak version and waited for the official release. Now that there are 3 baseband versions of official stock JB. I flashed it but didnt like it much. I like the older GB and ICS UI. The new UI is making my screen look small.
The only one thing i like in the new update is the multi window. I as told that spen will be better in this update but my spen is way better on ics. I can occassionally feel a lag and ram usage is always on the higher side, which makes me wonder if the new update is worth having.
Cant we just port the desired feature on our ics. Since the source code for the JB is out.
I want u people who are using stock JB to share their experience with the update

I love it, its amazing how battery life is saved with squeaky save clean install, butter not as nexus but still ok, phonecall/reception uncompromized for my unit. Exynos bug still there.
New features once used to it awesome. for the rest read entire thread above.
