I was trying to install CM11. Tried installing the zip from external memory and from an SD. Tried four different versions of CM but here's the message I always get:
This package is for "m3, m3xx, i9305, GT-I9305" devices:
this is a "m0"
E: Error in /sdcard/cm-11-20140117-NIGHTLY-i9305.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Could it be that Samsung Knox has something to do with this error? Root gone wrong? I am unable to check the root status since Knox is closing superSU.
I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Maybe you got the wrong (outdated) Recovery. Try to flash latest Recovery (cwm vor TWRP) and that should work!

Have you tried using Philz?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/i93xx-philz-touch-t2002953
Make sure you click the i9305 button and check the file name before flashing it otherwise you will hardbrick your phone.
Use Phil recovery or CWM, twrp has been giving me problems since 2.6.0.0. I am currently using cwm touch, besides a few freezes (which was fixed by pulling the battery) I didnt get any errors or problems with it

Can you tell me a way to go into CWM Recovery? I am unable to go in. If I press the power button, it just reboots. Doesnot give me any instruction.
I can go into download mode though. I do have odin V1.85 and Abys kernel. But I forgot how to flash it and go to recovery mode for that kernel.
UPDATE: found a way to go into recovery Mode.. installing the ROM again. Fingers crossed.
Its back now... restoring my google back up
I went into recovery, updated the ROM and flash gapps-jb-20121212-signed.. these where in the [ROM][CM10.1][4.2.1] Cyanogenmod 10.1 Unofficial Nightlies portal by chasmodo.
No idea if updating with new gapps did the trick or what. Any guesses.

is there no ext SD card on the phone that you can remove and place the latest Gapps manually on it..
or boot into recovery and go to mounts &storage and choose Mount USB storage. Connect to PC and see if it shows up. then proceed
Just try to enter recovery mode again....

Dear Community, greetings.
I have a problem as wrote in the title: I can't boot into cwm recovery. I am gonna try to summarize the main points that lead me here.
Assumption
I used to install custom ROMS flawlessy, following always the instruction etc...
Last rom I've installed was CM7.2 Apocalypse, Project Silk and Link2SD
I needed to restore stock rom
I searched with Google and came across the following solutions
I searched on XDA and came across the following solutions
What I have done...
I flashed using odin 4.38 -> GB 2.3.6 2012 October 2.3.6 S5830XWKTS S5830ITVKT2 downloaded from sammobile.com
I rooted the phone with upd_1.zip (that is attached to this thread)
I tried to install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip
...and trying to boot into recovery pushing POWER BT + HOME BT the phone stucks on the screen with "Galaxy GT-S5830" and the top-left corner was green
What I have done #2
I tried to use S5830XXKA6 but I dind't neither managed to boot properly (wiped data/factory and cache)
Tried to flash CWM directly with Odin using "One Package"
Could you kindly help me out?:fingers-crossed: I am also willing to give you further information as you ask.
Thanks everyone for your time.:good:
F.
---- PARTIAL FIX by myself ----
1. Format the sdcard in linux with GParted (you need to install android-tools-adb, android-tools-fastboot)
2. Flashed stock firmware S5830XWKTS S5830ITVKT2 with ODIN Multidownloader 4.38 (downloadeble from www.sammobile.com under ITALY)
3. Rooted with upd_1.apk and updated with Superuser 3.0 (attached)
4. Installed CWM 6.0.1.4
5. Restore an old backup of mine.
6. Rejoice

First of all, thank you very much for the reply. Then, the answer is yes and no. I flashed several firmwares. Some of them did work, others don't. Right now I managed to use the one I've mentioned before and
S5830XWKT7_S5830ITVKT1_ITV
S5830XWKP6_XWKPN
but trying S5830_XXKA6 it goes in bootloop also wiping data and cache.
Further information:
I noticed a problem with CSC. While booting in standard recovery an error message appeared saying something like "can't open /system/csc/XEU/system", so I've created the whole directory path and put the files that were in /system/csc inside. This issue is fixed. I am going to investigate and let you know if with other firmware I listed above I get the same behaviour.

Tried and doesn't work. Still stuck on boot logo
i have been flashing roms now since january this year. I've already flashed a lot for both the Gio and the Ace.
Now I'm running into this same problem again with several roms:
when I want to flash the rom, it returns me a status 7 error. Why? I don't know. I've tried already so much: md5 checksum, downloading again, formatting my sdcard partition
I have it with many roms (cm 7 blackhawk / firekernel, cm 10.1.1 mardon, cm10 maclaw etc etc).
I would like to find out what the problem is and possibly how I can solve it.
Maybe there is a problem with your recovery install. You could try to install that again.
Try to toggle signature verification in cwm. Or just reflash the recovery.

but flashing my px-cwm v2.zip recovery completed.
I managed to install cwm 6.0.3.2 (although it still says 5.0.2.6) and still i'm getting all these status 7 errors.
the error is " assert failed". Is it possible that cwm isn't able to "read" the several getprop requests from my phone?
Or should the line in script update be changed with removing the spaces between the getprop for cooper and the getprop for gt-s5830?

i've flashed a stock rom with mobile odin.
After that: i've tried to flash the cm10.1.3 rom from mardon. It returned a status 0 error. After that, I've flashed cwm 6.0.3.2 and tried to flash the rom again. Still a status 7 error.
Is it possible that maclaw's cm9 or cm10 have changed something in my Phone which causes that i'm unable to flash anything anymore? I only get status 7 errors. When i follow the suggested steps at XDA to get rid of these errors (read: delete the assert lines in updater script) the status 7 errors are replaced by status 6 errors.
when i'm in cm9 and execute getprop in terminal, the ro.product.build / devide / model = cooper (no gt-s5830).
the label on my Phone (which is located underneath the battery) says gt-s5830.
How do I get rid of the maclaw history and return to the completely Original rom to see if I can flash from there?

Are there differences between Odin and Mobile Odin? If there are some, flashing using the desktop one might help.
Cooper is the codename for our Ace. So that is ok.
I've tried 2 stock roms now. Neither can boot. I've reflashed the 5.0.2.6 cwm recovery because that one is the only one that can restore my cm9 backup. I'm lost... What did maclaws rom do that f*ck*d up my Phone?

You could send them an email.
Flash stock via PC using odin. You will be stuck in a bootloop. Reboot into recovery & factory reset. Reboot & phone boots. Now, important , you cannot flash custom Roms via stock recovery. Place the cwm 5.0.2.6 zip on sd card. Reboot into recovery , select " install update from sd card ", select the zip file, select yes & reboot. Again reboot into recovery, do full wipes & select " install zip from sd card " & NOT " install update from sd card " & flash any stock based Rom like Touchwiz 5 by Nathan. If you follow this, everything must be fine.

Great.
Do you want to restore it? I prefer 4.2.2.
i prefer not. But it depends on how satisfied I am on this cm 10.1.3 rom. And how many bugs / errors I experience, How smooth/fast it is etc.
When I'm not satisfied, I can Always return to this rom I was most satistied off so far. But I wanted another rom because I have a lot spontaneous reboots when turning on Wifi again....

Hello,
Since yesterday I am trying to install a custom rom for the first time.
My phone is Sony Xperia V (tsubasa)
Android 4.1.2
Build 9.1.A.1.140
My phone is botloader unlocked and rooted. However I've never managed to install a custom rom.
I've been trying to install custom roms with CWM4XperiaT_v8i_JB and CWM4XperiaT_v8i_JB, however with both versions of CWM I had the following errors:
at first I have status 7 error, but when correcting using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762 I then have an istallation aborted error.
I've tried installing several releases of Cyanogen and PAC-AIO with the same error messages everytime.
If anyone has another method for flashing roms that bwould be helpful.
Has anyone an idea ?
Thanks in advance.

If deleting the "asserts" command from the updater-script didn't work for you, than, in CWM, go to "Advanced" and then "Show log", and get the exact error for when it fails, that way you can see what/where exactly it's failing.
After checking the logs it appears that the format of the partition is not recognized. It also appears that the dalvik wipe fails before that. I have to investigate why the dalvik fails.

well,as above is all I have on the phone,as I said I ran odin and that was fine (UPDATE-SuperSU-v 1.25) was put on the sd card 1st.
as for recovery I guess it was what was on phone already, just pressed power/vol/home and tried to install (UPDATE-SuperSU-v 1.25) but had the errors above
also tried cwm on sd card but that was the same when trying to install.
I appreciate you getting back to me on this.
regards,Harry

http://opengapps.org - use 5.1 and select either the nano or pico variant for less Google bloatware (can be installable from the play store anyways)
