We have ubuntu booting off the SD... let me find the thread. Not sure if this is helpful or not >.>
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892877
This isn't exactly what I am looking for as it runs through a frame buffer on VNC.
Long time ago I read that MeeGo could run on Nexus One natively, it came with a detailed how-to tutorial as well.
I just found its link:
http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/MSMQSD
I wonder if there is a way to run Ubuntu natively on Nexus One similarly based on the tutorial above...
yes ubuntu can run natively on n1, i remember there was a thread in beginning of nexus one development
Hey I was wondering if there is a way to get dual boot on my O2X. The type I would love the most is the one of this kind forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095658
But dual boot with any other system would be great. If anyone are able to make this happen that would be great. I myself have no idea how to make this work so help would be great. Thanks for your attention.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
i don't think it's possible to do that
the o2x has 400MB of system ROM and most of rom uses up to 350MB, qhere do you want to put other roms?
Hi,
it's not a dual boot, but you can now launch a full linux system from android using the chrooting method, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151931
That is great
Im having some trouble with the installment of ubuntu though
They have hadded BT5 now that's real sweet to have with you on the go.
seems they are working towards native boot with usb host support that would be the golden price
the hdmi out is suppose to work on it, still havent gotten to test myself though
Anyone tried Bootmanager on O2X?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.drx2.bootmanager
Dual boot is actually possible. But till my exams end i am not working on that Project.Till then enjoy my chroot images. My exams end on 22nd august. Will start working on Native linux booting after that.

I couldn't resist for €2, but the device is unsupported, so I have to fill in the the details manually. Such as:
- Device
- Sdcard block
- System size
- Data size
- Cache size
As soon as I see a chance to test it properly, I will report more.

Any news on this. I found this interesting but saw our device still unsupported as you have already mentioned. It will be wonderful if o2x gets supported. And the best part is not only dual boot but supports upto four/five including the ROM in phone.
Hi
Also looking for more info on this. Did you get it working in the end?

Now that so many different flavours of GB ROMs available for our device (CM with working A2DP & FM, MIUI-FM expectedly will be working shortly since CM has made it & STOCK ROMs) a Dual /Multi boot will make a great value addition to O2X. Hoping to hear something positive from you.

Its not exactly a dual boot...U will boot into android and then manually run the script in terminal emulator and run linux on top of Android..think of it as a virtual Machine...there will be no sound from within Linux..The android O.S will continue to function as Normal..There will be no effect on the Main O.S...other than Memory consumption while you run the chroot..ofcourse that is to be expected..
Hello!
I've spend some days to compile JB for TPT ROW 32Gb. And there are the following results:
Works:
--Display. Interface is _very_ smooth
--Pen
--Automatic brightness
--External SD
--USB host
--Bluetooth
--WiFi (Partially: Signal strength indicator broken. Disable avoiding poor networks in advanced menu)
--GPS
--Internal sdcard
Doesn't work:
--Camera
--3G
--Sound
I also had to repack boot image to include configuration changes (init* files).
See attached logcat.
next step I will try to add proprietary source files for Wifi and camera and compile JB again.
==Boot image gzip for flashing with system image using nvflash or dd from recovery==

==System image gzip for flashing with boot image using nvflash or dd from recovery==

Remember to always do a backup copy of your device images before flashing new ones.
Great work mate! I assume that if we want to test this later on our tablets, we need to be rooted?

Woohoo! Look forward to trying this!
This is amazing work! Thank you.
I see Lenovo finally released the ICS source code. Maybe this will help you get some other stuff working.
Also, how were you able to flash your build? Have you not upgraded to OTA3? I'm assuming you still have CWR working.
Thanks again.
Great work, thanks! I'm glad that there is work going on!
Great news! As I installed ota3 before rooting my device, I hope that there will be some way to get cwm and root working...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Very happy that you're working on a new ROM for our device!!!
And I really hope that someone finds a way to root OTA3 since I was also too dumb to do that before updating.
Cheers!
Wow!! Keep up the good work!!!
can't wait, great work!
Great!
I thought I will be first
According to full_indigo device ID, it is AOSP, not CM? Wow..
I think together we could at last make 3G work as other hw are relatively easy to fix(may be not true for camera as sources again changed). I familiar with Qualcomm RIL framework and can't wait to see how it works with tablet and more opensource hardware module..
I also had to repack boot image to include configuration changes (init* files).

Lenovo released ICS open source code but they forgot to release new kernel sources. This prevents me from building bcmdhd driver instead of bcm4329. It looks like JB is oriented for NL80211 wireless interface and not WEXT.
this isnt for the K1 is it
It's for tpt only
When can we see this in a flashable version? Not to sound pushy, I know we have all see the development slow down.
Are there any other tricks we need to get this up and running? I flashed partition 7 and 8 using NVflash but my tablet is stuck in a boot loop at "lenovo"
EDIT: Is this incompatible with CWM recovery?
What is TPT
Not to sound stupid but what is TPT? I have a K1 as well and am wondering if this will work?

yes I also tried to get more info but for now no response. At last they released external folder of their custom build, which also contains alsa-audio, as I seen in cm9 device tree, it should fix audio with ease(maybe after patch as sources again changed in JB).

Anyway, congrats on working wifi.

Some of existing software probably blocks normal startup. It is always advised to clean dalvik-cache and user data (backup first). It's up to you.
Right after Lenovo logo you should see 'Android: Optimizing applications' or something similar.

Hi,
Glad to see you on these forums
I have been trying to build an AOSP image of the Android M Preview to flash on my z3 tablet compact for a while now and I always get stuck at the exact same time.
My building environment is set up on an Ubuntu VM (14.04 LTS) and when using the make command, I get an error message saying that "/usr/lib/python2.7/subprocess.py" can't be found.
Of course the file is in its place so that's a bit baffling...
Is this problem known to you and is there any solution for it ? :/
Thank you in advance for your reply !

I finally was able to compile it !
I don't know why but this time Ubuntu prompted me to install phablet-tools saying that "repo" was missing so I did and voilà, the make was successful !
Only problem is flashing the three img files resulted in my SGP611 being stuck in a bootloop
Back on official Lollipop for the moment... Any idea what could cause this ?
Thanks

Hi Guys,
I actually tried to port CyanogenMod 13 from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
Here is some info about this device - http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_2_7_0_p3100-4543.php
Why I choose Galaxy Tab 2? Cause that is the only device i have that has CyanogenMod 13. If there is something wrong please let me know.
Now here is the problem. I modified the System folder. but now i cant switch it into system.new.dat . I tried every single program but no use.
So if anyone can help me converting it into system.new.dat. if anyone can i will upload the files in Drive so let me know.
@tasnim_tamim I'm not breaking your heart but it'll not work.
Completely different processors nd kernel versions.
Try porting from a device which has same processor, Snapdragon 410.
Examples: Lenovo A6000, Samsung J5, Moto g(3rd gen), HTC Desire 510, Samsung A3, Samsung A5 & Many more.
Happy porting! I told you all the devices I knew about by my researches so far.

Actually I'm not sure if the Cm13 ROMs will work yet, until @zim555 or any other developer builds a Cm13 kernel.
You can try porting but if you're not successful you should go for 5.0 or 5.1.1 ROMs.

First of all the I already messed the conversion to system.img which after that I had to goto windows and extract the whole damn thing. So now I can't change it to system.new.dat. on my windows there is also a software for that. But that asks for something like Select system.img size. Which is what extremely confuses me. And I said earlier that I completely messed up everything on Ubuntu side that now. Now the thing on thread what it said doesn't even works. I did ported everything. But I can't compress it. If you want I can give you screenshot on windows about the program. So if you can help me with that
BTW I am porting OmniRom 5.1.1 from Moto G 2013
