Was geting out of the car today, and dropped the phone in to the water.
There is mist under the screen . And now touch screen not working.
Please help, is there any cure for this?
First, be very greatfull you still have a semi-working device!
Second, install MS Voice Command - this should give you some functionality
Third, if you search on the forums for the service manual and and get one of these.
I'm told its a very tricky job but as its a touch phone and you have lost your touch, its got to be worth a try!
usually, when electronic devices get wet, you should immediately remove the battery and let it totally dry before turning it on.
And then send it for repair or diagnostics to make sure it's still functioning. At this point, I think your best bet is to send it for repairs.
Good luck, hope it's still repairable.

You can cause problems when you cut corners like that... Static electricity is one.
Ok, so far everithing in working (GPS,camera,g-sen,phone,), and the touch screen works again, but the bloody screen... lots of watermarks on it.
I wouldn't worry about that, that's good so far. A mate of mine dropped his i-mate in a pool and he brought it back to life (with the rice trick) and his screen had those watermarks for a week. In fact it looked really cool, the background had this awesome colour to it, and the LCD had this strange depth to it (no pun intended) it was quite funny really, he was upset it went back to normal in one week!
this is probably the same "stuff" you would get on a window. I suspect that you may need to open it up and clear this away from the underside of the screen. Guess you could try some pressurised air BUT this may be too strong for a delicate phone.....
Is it possible to separate screen cover from screen(background)???
Cause its get worse with time. Couple hours ago, mist(water) was on 5% of the screen, and now on whole 80%. Now there is no white color but grey.
Just put your phone in rice.
Leave you phone turned off in some rice for I'd say 2 days, but you clearly want to use it to the extent you turned it on when it was still wet (very bad idea your lucky) so I would suggest you put it in dry rice every night off whilst you sleep and hopefully that will aid the drying process.
Next time take out the battery as soon as you possibly can. Take it apart as much as your comfortable with doing and leave it in rice for a min of one whole day.

Yeah i get it, but im on work now and i Need to use it. I cant get rice right away. So i'v put it on the betacam (kind of expensive heater).
Comparing to my friends SE K850 (that was flooded ider) my Diamond is in the good working order, when he flooded his SE - Camera,Speakers = dead ,Phone = no network ,Display = waved. When mine was showing new mail massage from underwater

Right, was unable to find the rice, but rolled in toilet paper for 1 hour. And hey presto now its fully functional, no any marks.

So I was idiotically browsing the web on Nexus One with my right hand (I am left handed) in the rain whilst holding umbrella with my left hand. As I was crossing street the phone dropped into wet street.
Once I reached home there was water in LCD. I dried the phone. Now when I start the phone 4 out of 5 times the phone starts but the touch screen and capacitive buttons are not responsive. In this state the phone rings but I can't pick up since the touch screen is not responsive. 1 out of 5 times the phone starts normally and everything works fine.
I was originally running Froyo I switched to latest Cyanogen and back but it hasn't made a difference.
Any ideas?
Best thing to do, is pull battery and put phone in rice for 24 hours, its true, it saved my samsung galaxy just the other week. If yours only plays up some of the time there still may be moisture in phone, try it

Yup.
Or even just pulling the battery and letting the phone dry for a day or so should work. The rice would help to pull the moisture out though.
Yup, bag of instant rice, make sure it is instant rice. Also, in the future, you or anyone, best thing is pull the battery right away, and don't try to power on until doing the bag of instant rice for 24-72 hours (depending on how wet she got).
Water damage kills a phone 2 ways... 1, shorts, thus frying circutis (this is instant kill stuff, and why you should not try turning the phone on right away, rather wait for it to dry out first) And the second is long term corrosion of the different circuits... some, water has no effect on, others will eventually become dead circuits and the phone will stop working. This part can take as little as a couple months, and as much as a couple years, depending on how deep the water got, what metals they used for solders, et al.

I know, this is just extremely stupid of me to drop a $550 phone in water. Happened 12 hours ago.
I removed battery right away. The screen was on when I removed the phone from the glass, pretty much right away.
Left the phone overnight in the rice bucket. Then turned it on in the morning.
The phone powers up and everything, so far seems to work, including the speaker and ear piece (thats the side that dropped in water).
Make phone call, I can hear and other person can hear. Wifi seems to work. Screen scrolling and such works.
Only thing I am noticing right now is that the Lock Button seems to have itr own brain. It autopresses and "the power off" screen keeps coming on by itself. Also, pressing the Lock Button does not lock the phone anymore. All it does is brings me to the Power Off screen.
Any help? Should I just remove the battery and leave it in the rice bucket for maybe a few more days?

Let dry it some more without the battery.
Reminds me of the time I dropped my sony w810 in a tall glass of beer, Took me a few seconds to realize and get it out. Worked perfectly after drying.
What is the benefit of a rice bucket? I never heard of that being used to dry electronic devices before. I know one of my friends jumped into a pool with his old LG phone. He let it dry out for 24-36 hours and worked fine after that. He basically let it air dry.

Rice absorbs water, you see it in on the table in the salt in a restaurant to hold the salt dry so it won't stick togehter and won't come out
I am running the Rodriguez 2.2 Rom.
Anyways, all seems to work normal again. But, just to be on the safe side, I think I will leave it in the rice bucket a little more after I get home.
Btw, this morning, I was running the Signed FRF50 Modaco rom, then I did a full wipe and Nand Restore to the prior backup to Rod 2.2 Rom. No issues.
Wondering if the OLED screen on the Nexus One has anything to do with the screen "Still Fully Functional" compared to a normal LCD?

Also, see if you can clean around the lock button with compressed air or blowing or something, having the battery cover removed. Might be a rice/dirt related problem.
my nexus one has been in the toilet, in the bath, and in a diet dr. pepper... bag of rice each time, and it's 100%, no humidity under the screen or anything..
ALL of the moisture stickers are triggered tho..

Dropped my phone in a pool, its still working fine. If you have problems with your lock button, oh well. Install Cyanogen and use the trackball awake setting.
i hope you put the phone in a bag of rice immediately!! that greawtly increases your chance of a working device. i've had this happen many times where i save a phone using this method. the rice absorbs moisture very quickly.

Silicia gel works even better. I keep a big bag of it in my safe to keep the moisture away from my gun.

I'm certain he would mean beads, not necessarily in a fluid-form
I was thinking more of the powder sachets that you get in dried seaweed packets. Not sure exposing your phone to silicate beads is a great idea either, since it's a skin irritant.
The screen is pretty much sealed off. So i guess when water gets INTO your screen behind the glass you are pretty fecked..
put it in dry rice!! works 10/10 times for me.
Was on the phone after I had shoulder surgery with headset on. I had my N1 resting in my sling. Went to the sink to wash a cup, my N1 slid out and went straight to the drain were water ran on it for a few seconds. I left it in a sealed tupperware box with rice in it for 24hrs... Works like a charm

Was it a glass of tap water or some sort of bottled water (distilled/filtered)?
I ask because tap water has all sorts of chemicals and when it drys, they are left behind. Like your shower gets that white build up on the walls (aka hard-water buildup) unless your doing the hanky panky in the shower and not cleaning up your mess. Whatever electronic board is near the power button could have a bridge residue causing it to act strange.
My girlfriend left her G1 out and my 2 year old son dropped in the dogs water bowl. I dried it out and left it in rice as well for 24 hours. 24 hours later I powered it up and the phone would act weird. Random keys being pressed. Random menu pop ups. I took it all apart and noticed white residue on some of the circuit boards. I cleaned them with rubbing alcohol and a soft mini tooth brush it stopped the randomness but I still needed to replace the LCD screen. Beyond my control.

I can attest to this. I spilled coffee over the entire screen one morning. I swear I moved faster than the flash cuz I grabbed tissue and wiped it clean in like seconds. But everything was still fine and dandy after though. =)

I highly doubt that he was drinking a glass of distiled water. Drinking distiled water is not good for someone to drink. So more than likely it was tap/drinking water.

I took it all apart, pulled the battery, took out all the screws and separated the screen from the housing and let it sit in a bowl full of rice overnight. this morning I reassembled everything and it powered on no problems. everything is working except there is very little volume coming from the back speaker. is there anything I can do? Or, am I F'ed and must now live with it.

If still in warranty period. (First year) search for adams water damage indicator altering guide and return for returb.

it may begin to work right after a while though, how long has it been?
It's been about 36 hours. already I've noticed an improvement. I really wasn't to keen on trying to pull one over on ATT by altering my device. It was my mistake so I'll live with it if I must. However, of the 130+ views his was the only suggestion lol. I'll give it a couple of days, but it's already noticeably louder.
Yea idk not really something you can do a lot about. I dont feel bad about pulling one over on at&t i give them plenty of money.

Hy today I was going home on motorbike and my phone was in jacket pocket ( jacket is motorbike,waterproof,never questioned that ) and suddenly it started to rain and I had no worry cause jacket is waterproof and many time I carried phone in jacket while raining,no problem at all.
But guess what.I arrived home and pulled out phone from jacket and I felt water on TPU case and bottom of case was soaked.
Immiditealy I had heart attack that water found her way into phone electronics and parts and I pulled out battery,sim card and memory card and dried phone with hair drier.
Then I switch battery with replacement battery and started phone.After LG logo apperead I was happy but no so soon,then LG logo flickered after showing it as it should be and black screen on left part of screen and artefact screen on right ( like when your computer GPU dies ) and I hear boot sounds and going into homescreen.
My questions is should I try to dry more or thats pretty much that what I could do ?
Did digitizer died or LCD screen ? Could they notice if I take it to warranty the water indicator like on Iphone ?

Strip the battery from the phone. Put both in a bag of rice. Leave alone in the rice in a warm place for 48 hours. Try to see if it works. If not then there's not much else you can really do.

Thanks for reply,last time mom washed my Nokia 100 and after leaving it in rice for 24 hours water withdrawed and now phone worsk flawlessly like before.
As I sad,phone turns on,shows LG logo as it should be,I hear boot sound and then one half of screen is black and other half has artefacts.
So my question is what could be damaged ( cpu,gpu,motherboard,lcd screen,digitizer ) ?
After spending 12 hours in rice,my phone works and everything is fine except rear and front camera.
They dont seem to work,they show some kind of artefacts,then it turns for a short period time and laggs and they I get error App has crashed etc.
Should I carry my phone to phone service or leave it for 24 hours more in rice,maybe rice will dry moisture from camera lens/electronics or are both cameras completely dead ?

Personally I would leave it in the rice for for a couple of days at least. My old Sony Ericsson took 3 days in rice to get back to full working order following it's short visit to the toilet basin.
You only need the slightest drop of water in the wrong place to create a short, which will cause your phone to act erratically.

I wont test out my luck anymore,I'm reliefed that phone even works,WiFi,3G,GPS,games,apps,screen works great only front and rear camera show artefacts and crash
is there any chance that rice will dry out moisture from camera and they'll work normally ?

my phone is accidently droped into a low level bowl of water face down.
almost 25% of phone dipped into water, and as soon as it contacted water i pulled it out and pulled the battery and sim and memory card out.
then i tried to dry it with hair drier for 10 mins,
then i started my phone and it started normaly, but after 1 minute while i was using it, it dimmed and gone to black screen, i instantly pulled out the battery again,, and yet i'm thinking what to do,
do i still have chance of rice trick?
i can't take chance on my phone, i'm not a rich person to afford this phone again
so please reply soon,

Put in in the rice you got nothing to lose.. But honestly, you made a mistake turning the phone on after 10 min. Rice will hopefully take out the moist.

i hope my phone is alright, i just pulled it out from rice bag and powered it on, and i saw LG logo,
but then i thought to be carefull and pulled out the battery and put it again in rice for another day...
will tell you if it's alive or not after 24 hours more in rice...

If you live in a cold place, keep it in for atleast 2 days.Also stop powering your phone on, it will reduce your chances.Try to get it to somewhere warmer
if you ask me, you made a mistake when you tried to dried it with blower
when it drooped into water, then right away turn it off, battery out, sim and sd out
then try to collect water as much as you can with tissue
then put in on rice, basically bury it in it so that phone is surrounded with rice all around
leave it like that for 2-3 days
then try to start it to see if you had luck to get the moisture out
Rice is a bad idea.
It will dry but the water from everywhere contains salt and minerals.
It will rust everything inba short periodo.
Run to a repair store and they will dissasamble and proper clear parts.

ok friends,thanks GOD my phone is alright, not a single default in it,
working perfectly, it has been half an hour i'm using it with minimum 800+ processor frequency so that it generate some heat,
everything is wroking,
and i wanna thank all of you for replying and helping... rice is the best method for it.

The best method is actually to use the desiccant packets that come with electronic equipment, but I'm lucky to get lots of them through my job in case I ever need them. Rice is the best thing that almost everyone has easily available.
I'm glad it's all working, quick action of normally the best bet.

a nice homemade trick to fix wet devices is, grab a container, half fill it with white rice, from a new package, and the put your device into the rice, of course without a battery and back plate, and the complete the container with more white rice, wait for two days and then, try to turn on your device, it will be completly dryed, i proved with several devices and always works again
yes, rice dried my device completely and I'm using it without any problem now
