Hello!
I have this problem - i can't calibrate gyroscope with any program! I have noticed, that i can't normally steer in real racing 3! When i put phone parallely to the earth, and my car drives to the right. And i have noticed this in all my apps.
Please, help me.
Also, sorry for my bad English.

This is not available in Cyanogenmod11. Do you know how to calibrate sensors in Cyanogenmod?
Thanks!
EDIT: wiped my phone, works again now. But, still curious how you calibrate with CM......

On my third galaxy note now, read more about it here.
The gyroscope isn't working, I've tried calibrating it many times and I did a factory reset of the phone.
Is there a way to fix this or am I screwed?
i think i have the same problem! the accelerometer works perfectly, but the gyro doesn't move at all while calibration, is that what u r facing?

Yeah, the gyro ball isn't moving at all during calibration. The accelerometer is moving correctly only after calibrating it, but after some time the ball can be on the left side when it's supposed to be on the right side or something like that.. I'd hate to be forced to send this one back as well... pretty tired of sending back replacements and on Samsung's bad quality control of their new released product...
though the gyro isn't getting calibrated, but i think it's working perfectly. correct me if i'm wrong, maybe some1 who has used other phones having gyro may know better
For me the ball in calibration menu is not moving at all. However, if I dial *#0*# and select sensors, readings from gyro are ok. Seems like a software problem.

Indeed. If you download a sensor checker you will see it is working perfectly... the little ball in the calibrator doesn't just move.. = software.

Forget me if I'm wrong but the ball shouldn't move should it? Little test for you guys, go into calibration and move the phone around, do you feel a slight pull from the phone when moving it? as if you were holding a spinning gyroscope? Mine does this, its a weird sensation but if it does do this then your gyroscope is working fine. I think if the ball moved the gyroscope would be broken because its suppose to stay dead centre?

Hello all!
I also thought my gyro wasn't working, because the calibration ball stood still. Before I knew about the sensor test code, I found a nice app to test it, called GyroRotate. It basically just shows a colored cube which rotates if you rotate the phone. Seems to be working great on my phone. The only thing is that when I do 360 degrees with phone, the cube seems to have rotated only 180 degrees. I don't know if this is the gyroscope reporting such values, or the app is coded in such a way.
I didn't come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the gyroscope because the ball isn't moving during calibration. But because screen rotate will work randomly and I need to calibrate it again for it to work until it starts acting weird again. For an example, if I tilt my phone to the right it will act as if I tilted it to the left. Sometimes it will act as if I was holding the phone in landscape mode when I'm not etc.. Really annoying.
Edit: I also have problems with playing games like Labyrinth where the ball won't respond accuratelly to how I am moving the phone.. It will work if I calibrate the phone but after a while it will stop working again.. I also did the *#0*# test and it said PASS.

I don't actually have a Note yet, it's in the mail, but could it be that you have to hold on the screen for it to work? The reason why I bring this up is because, correct me if I'm wrong, in the browser if you press and hold onto the screen with two fingers and move the Note it zooms in/out, and this function uses the gyro, I believe.
k1ng617: no, at least for my Note, the ball stays in the center whether I put it on the table or pick it up and wave/rotate all over the place.

How about in the browser does the two-finger hold and zoom work? Or the move an item across homescreens work by motion? Phonearena says this is handled by the gyro. If it does it might just mean the application is broken.

Yes, the two-finger zoom works flawlessly. The motion-icon-moving does work, although I can't seem to always get it to work.. But I'm guessing it's using accelerometer, since I have to move the device left/right (this also works if I don't rotate the phone at all and keep it straight while moving left/right)
My Note's gyro is broken too It's easy to test the gyro with e.g. google sky map
Hi guys,
I have a problem with my gyro or accelarometer i dont know which is the problem... In short, When I use ICS ROM i used an application which uses motion sensors to move. Even though i do not move the phone, it is moving itself... Anyway i thought that it was an error of the application... Now i'm on JB... when I looking the options I entered "MOTION" section... I tried the "Pan to browse images" demo ... When i testing the demo i realize that it is again moving itself....
How can i solve this issue? Which sensor has a problem and how can it be fixed ? thanks...
did u calibrate the gyroscope and accelerometer ?

No mate, Fully uncover.. even there is no screen protector... In every angle, it moves towards to right of the phone... if the phone in vertical position it moves towards to right (phone's right) If the phone in horizantal position it moves up (again the phone's right).... Whatever the position sensor is moving towards to the phones right...
had it been happening since the first day u had the phone.. go to a service centre

It is not possible mate... My phone has no guaratee in Turkey... Our state policy is strict about these products... If you want guarantee in Turkey, you should buy it from Turkey... I got my phone from outside of the country... Therefore, I have no option this option... Is there program or mod to fix it ?

If it is a hardware problem, it cannot be fixed by any program/software..
1.Hold the phone tight in your hand.
2.Move it fast in a circle of 8 movement for 10 seconds.
This action resets the Gyro in the phone.

Dang i havent thought of that.. I was looking for an easy way to calibrate/reset the gyro myself!!! This works no matter what screen you're at? Home? Settings? Lockscreen??

I did it when im in my homescreen.... It really worked... i did it for 30 sec...
I expect you have a hardware problem then if this does not solve your issue permanently.
I'm glad I've taught you a new tip but I'm sorry i can't help you further
Hi guys!!
Today I received the LG Nexus 4 but the accelerometer does not work, I installed Android Sensor Box, and shows how it does not move, you can only move to the right or left, but did not up and down.
Sorry for my English ....
Is that problem HW or SW? I think HW ...
Hope response
Regards,
trek
I installed that app and it shows all movements on my nexus4, there's probably a hardware problem with yours.
You should probably try another app that's using the sensors first before returning it, though

I just installed Sensortest, and there are three numbers, 0, 1 and 2, the only number that remains fixed is 1, 0 and 2 change their value if I move the phone.
I haven sent an e-mail to Google. :crying:

Likely software issue. Try installing Beach Buggy game and confirm accelerometer controls are working.
Hello guys ...sorry if a similar question was already asked.
I have a problem with my phone. When i want to make a phone call the screen goes off. At first I thought that the phone switched itself off, but later I noticed that the credit was gone...:/ I happens even after the factory reset. It also happens with another dialer from google play...however, people can still call me and there is no problem...no problems with sms either.
I have 2.3.6 Gingerbread
Please help
I think that's normal. There's a sensor which causes this.

so its not software problem? is it worth to replace it? how much may it cost?
i also checked another thing...its not only the screen there's no signal and a phone call is not made...:/
Every phone has this sensor. The intention is that you don't touch any button on your screen during the phone call.
You can try to reflash the stock rom.

Lars which sensor did You mean? Proximity sensor? Would that cause the phone to go silent (no dial signal)?

I run the proximity sensor test using *#*#0588#*#* and looks like it's broken...the screen is blue and displays "proximity x 1" covering the sensor has no effect, looks like the sensor is activated all the time...
I noticed some dust, maybe moisture in there so i think it will be a good idea to take the phone apart and clean the sensor...

I feel like a crazy person answering my own posts...
I took it apart, cleaned it, but the problem's still there. I bought a new assembly jack-speaker-proximity sensor on ebay for 7 euro...hope it will work after replacing this part...
The way it's all together explains why there was no dial signal.
When I replace the part i will let You know Thanks for Your help

Hello Replaced the part, tested, everything working beautifully Sweet I love this phone :cyclops:
hi, does the proximity sensor work when you are NOT in a call ?
for example samsung decided to disable it unless you are IN a call, probably to avoid the blinking you can see in pixel 5.
thanks

Hi, I had exactly the same issue on my S10e. I am happy to report that the proximity sensor seems to be working outside the calling app! I have tried DevCheck and it reacts to my hand wave.
thank you very much!
I have also tried a push ups app and it works as intended. I don't have to actually touch the screen with my nose anymore to get a count. It is enough to be 1-2 cm near the phone. So, no fat spots on screen!
