[Q] Can I S-Off HBOOT 1.43? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Did a search on this and couldn't find any help on the matter. Also asked in Vomer's S-Off thread but have received no response as of yet.
Question: If I want to S-Off my phone which has HBOOT 1.43, will revone work? Do I need to change to HBOOT 1.44 before I do it?
Regards,
Dave

You can if you've got hboot 1.44 but not with 1.54..... HTC closed the exploit with the updated firmware.
If you're s-off with 1.44 then upgrading the firmware won't lose you s-off.

Is it possible to downgrade your HBOOT? I'm guessing not but thought I'd ask! I also read everywhere that's its pretty risky and probably not worth it.

Even if you managed to once you rebooted the phone it would essentially brick, and to boot the new hboot you need to reboot.
Just going to have to wait

[Q] HTC J One S-OFF with Rumrunner

Hi there, sorry for my first post being so needy...
I am trying to root my HTC J One and it seems that I first need to S-OFF the device. I'm trying to use Rumrunner as my bootloader is at 1.54 unfortunately...but I get the error "looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!"
I'm using the HTC Universal version of rumrunner as there doesn't seem to be a device specific version for the HTC J One.
I've uninstalled HTC Sync Manager and uninstalled my virus scanning software and turned off my firewall. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go next? Thank you for your help!

Firstly, only the Verizon HTC One needs to be S-OFF'ed prior to root. All other models need to be bootloader unlocked and rooted to get S-OFF.

Thanks for your reply! So do I need to unlock the bootloader prior to rooting the device?

Hello,
I have unlocked the bootloadres using Revone... otherwise you may try Rumnummer.

It seems as mentioned here that Revone / Rumrunner are needed to unlock the bootloader, but neither seem to be working (revone doesn't work as my bootloader is version 1.54, I did try it anyway though...and rumrunner gives me the error mentioned above...
Or is all of this unnecessary to root it? I kind of hope it is!
I'm sorry to bump...does anyone have any suggestions?

Umm, why are you running the same thread again, this question has already been answered, there are no alternatives for your current HBOOT.

not without s-off, like I said in the other thread, pay or find someone who is willing to pay for you with a card or live with s-on, most of use had to do it.
