[Q] Dead cable? - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I've had my sp, charger and usb cable for maybe 2 months now but yesterday my phone just stopped charging, so I picked another USB cable (which works). Is it common for Sony's USB cable to just stop working at a certain point? Happened a bit unexpected

Amperes too low to jack up the phone, but just enough to charge the speaker? Seems illogical tho, but it's just my hunch lol
Btw my cables are now functioning normally, without any bending issues, idk what happened, it just works -____-

You're another Note user with the same problem. This is a common issue with the Galaxy Notes called "Ghost Mode" or "Crazy Mode", It still charging even if you unplug the cable, and the screen does not turn off (also, in a couple of hours you will see that the Clock and the Driving Mode are turning off and on every time). Its a hardware problem, not software. Happens after months, years or even weeks after buying the device. It covers the warranty so leave it at a Samsung Service Center and they will send you a repaired usb port or a new phone (mine was happend the same issue and Samsung gave me a new phone). Hope it helps you. Sorry my bad english, greetings from Argentina!

The USB port problem seems frequent on this model and on Samsung phones in general - mine is 5 months old and hasn't had this issue so far (knock on wood!). Goes to show just how "good quality" Samsung phones are... not buying again.

My problem with my phone started after I bought a cheap car charger. I must have ruined the mini usb port. Now when I unplug my phone from the charger it keeps showing that it is charging and will not stop till I remove the battery and put it back in. Also if I had just kept it without removing the battery and wanted to recharge it plugging it to the charger will not do anything. Removing the battery and put it back will allow it to charge. I just hope the cover will not disintegrate with all the opening and closing. Before this phone I had the Nokia N97 and in the middle of a long distance call the battery died. I stopped at the first cell shop and bought a car charger that ruined that phone too. I should have learned no to use hardware that is not original even if the guy said it is good.

Charging Problem

Guys, having a problem with the battery port ( I think)
As soon as i plug the wall charger in to the port the phone shows that it is charging but it actually doesn't charge. This happens only with the wall charger.
Tried Reflashing ROM and everything software related.
On Sweetrom v10.5 with Philz.
It works fine via USB charging ( From Computer).
I changed my charger too but same problem happens.
It started when i plugged the phone to a charger of Xolo Q1000 (3rd Party) and that too in a Made In China Extension Board. :/
Hi there
Its a problem with the charger not the USB cable.

You might have a bad USB port on your phone,
If you do then this goes to show don't use 3rd party chargers and extensions, you could have shorted it out.
Best thing to do I would think is to try and get a replacement charging module.

Is that possible?
:/
I mean could have probably shorted out the port?
If it is shorted then how does it charge with the USB?
:/
And btw I can use the Phone as a media or storage device too and can acess all files and everything.

Have you tried flashing any other ROMs to make sure it's not a bug?
Some roms can be pretty weird with a few bugs but I'd say it's worth a shot.

AC charging issues, USB charging works. Help?

Hi guys,
Google's got nothing on the subject, so I'm betting on xda's infinite wisdom.
Few days ago AC charging started to . . flicker ( charging -> not charging -> charging. . etc.) No water damage, no drastic firmware changes ( updated to monxdified 6.2 after the flickering had begun - no dice ), tried various chargers and cables ( which work fine on an Xperia Z ) with the same result. Moving the cable around does not seem to affect the issue so I don't think it's a connection problem.
When I plug the same USB cables I use in a laptop's USB - all good. Charging speed, transfer speeds unaffected.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Let me know if u need more info.
Thanks in advance

I had a similar issue of switching between charging and not charging. Was regardless of moving the cable around and happened even the phone and cord were sitting untouched. Don't remember if ac vs usb made any difference, but it continually got worse until I had to take it in under warranty. They just cleaned out the usb port and all was good again.
