Ok... So you're thinking about buying an unlocked phone that was originally a Verizon phone but was used on T-Mobile that you want to use on AT&T? That is a bit convoluted, each vendor uses different bits of spectrum and a Verizon phone isn't a pure GSM phone such as AT&T or T-Mobile might have, I would be cautious, why not just get an unlocked AT&T device?
That being said, if it can be used on a GSM network like T-Mobile it should work on AT&T, the problem being that - as I said - each carrier uses different bits of the spectrum.

Save yourself the potential hassle and buy the proper AT&T model.

Yeah i am being cautious I'm passing on it thanks for the responses

[Q] Does a rooted T-Mo N1 work on AT&T?

Hello community,
I couldn't find any info through the Search, so I was hoping someone could let me know if a rooted Nexus One for T-Mobile would work on AT&T. I have the unlocked bootloader, custom recovery image and ROM, the whole 9 yards, but what I don't have is the understanding about GSM networks and how the modifications I made to my phone affect the cross-network compatibility.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
The two models operate on different gsm bands. An unrooted t-mobile n1 will work on att, but only on edge..

They are ALL sold unlocked in the states.
True but there's 2 different unlocked versions and what the guy above you said is true.

Rooting should have no affect on it.
And if its the TMO version of the phone you will only have 2g (edge) on ATT. Seeing as both networks use different frequencies. And the cellular antenna will only be tuned to pick up 3g+ signals from TMOs frequencies.

I think..
But AT&T doesn't allow apps to be installed via apk files. So no 3rd party stuff.
If I'm correct.

You are so painfully incorrect. At&t has no presence on this phone. Get your facts right before you post here.
a T-Mobile Nexus One wont work on at&t's 3G network. Only on edge. Rooting has no effect.
Now close the thread.

Unlocked phone on vzw?

Hey guys, just curious, as I'm having withdrawals from actually having a decent phone that doesn't make me want to use it as a hockey puck.
I have access to a tmobile Samsung galaxy s2, for a cheap price, if I were to unlock it, would it be capable of running on the Verizon network? Obviously with owning a d3, I have a sim card, would it work? Also, again out of pure curiosity, would an unlocked att phone work on our network?

It all depends on if the phones are capable of running on CDMA/EVDO. Do some research on the phones sorry I'm not much help

Google (your phone model) specs and see if the radio bands are ones that are supported by verizon.

No the SGS2 uses GSM and Verizon uses CDMA. Maybe someone would trade you phones?
Even if the phone has CDMA hardware like any Sprint phone, Verizon will only allow devices on their network if they are authorized for use on Verizon.

I have the XT1058. Mine was locked to AT&T, but I unlocked it with a code. There is some bloatware, but most of it can be disabled without root. The only thing I had to use root to uninstall was the AT&T address book. It should pick up LTE just fine, but I'll let you know for sure later tonight. I'm not in an LTE area right now.
LTE works great.

Just understand that if you really have an XT1053 on ATT, it doesn't support all the bands ATT uses for LTE so you'll fall back to HSPA

Interesting. On 4g now and thought I checked for compatibility.
My issue is that I drop all communication. Not that I step down in speed.

Right, the missing LTE bands shouldn't cause total loss of service.
For ATT there is 4G HSPA and 4G LTE.. not sure how the GSM varients report each. And the XT1053 does support the primary LTE band ATT uses.
Hey there,
I had the same issue. Got a XT1058 and am using it on T-Mobile. I kept loosing signal completely. Sim Card not recognized.
The problem I found is that if you are using a sim card that has been cut to fit the tray will cause signal loss issue.
Went to T-Mobile got a new sim card and been using it without a problem.
Let us know if this helps you.

[Q] Moto X Pure Edition on Cricket w/ LTE?

I've seen similar posts to this, but none with any kind of solid answer so far. I have a chance to get a XT1095 for pretty cheap tomorrow and would like a clear answer to the question of it not only working on Cricket and also get LTE? If not will it work on HSPA? Thx in advance, I'm kind of confused by all this and would love to hear from somebody that has or had this particular model on Cricket. I'm coming from a Nexus 5 which was just plug n play with my Cricket SIM so that's what has me a bit lost here.
You shouldn't have any problems with it. I see they have a GSM sim. As long as that's the one you have you should get LTE.

Yeah the guy had it on T-Mobile so its definitely GSM compatible. I'm mostly just wondering about getting the LTE/data to work. I saw an article online that said the XT1095 had less bands than the other variants. Either way thanks for replying so quickly!
I also read though that Motorola was planning on adding the missing bands via update but can't find if that update was already pushed or not.
The band issue was with kit kat it has been updated with 5.0 and 5.1. You should get LTE and if you don't it will probably be because you have to set up the APN yourself which is easy.

Now that's exactly what I was wanting to know, TY! I'm very familiar with how to change APN's so it looks like I'm good to go!
I'm using my XT 1095 on cricket and I'm very pleased. It is LTE compatible but be advised to use the APN settings on cricket website. As long as you are aware of crickets speed limitations, you will be pleased.
