[Q] What's the best CM7 Rom for P970 - LG Optimus Black

I must ask
because I like a lot CM7 ROMs, very fast and all the apps worked so good, even faster than stock ROM
but everytime I installed one of them it always happened the same to me, randomly, but sooner or later, my screen just got stuck and I needed to reboot...
is it a ROM based on Cyanogenmod7 which doesn't present that problem, I mean a really stable one??

CICI was one of the more stable CM7 ROMs, but it wasn't solid.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699264
You want a GB 2.3.4 based ROM for the greatest stability and performance.

oh yeah I tested CICI once, it's amazing I almost left that one as my default ROM but it presented the same problem (system crash and random reboot) not sure if the latest has this issue fixed

Most Stable rom?

Hello, I own a motorola milestone from telus, and have tried Cyanogen mod 7 and Miui. They werent bad but of course had errors which is expected. What is the best "Stable" rom out there for the milestone. Preferably froyo and higher! any suggestions for roms would be greatly appreciated
I would say that eybee's MIUI is quite good, it implemented kabaldan's DSI fix and other stuff. For Froyo, I recommend, FroyoMOD, an update is coming next week. For GB, I find Cronos and MIUI are quite stable.

Some changes on Cyanogen's Mod7 for Milestone on its RC10 version have made this rom one of the most stables among custom roms, besides, i really think that CM7 is more stable than stock firmwares
I went from stock 2.1 to iceandfire CM6/CM7. My experiences are very positive: performance and batterylife are much better than on stock and most of the kinks of the early cm7 builds have been worked out.
In fact its running so well, that i dont see the need to upgrade eventhough the hardware is aging quickly

I have just switched back to cyanogen mod 7 rc 10 the latest one, and so far, ive tested everything and its all snappier. I have v6 supercharger on as well which helps it as well. i am very pleased with this latest version.
Cyanogen 7.1.0 RC10 is very stable. So if you want Gingerbread qive it a try.
Otherwise, the most stable ROM out there I still believe its the official 2.1-update1 one.
cronosginger 1.4.0 most stable for me
When I ran CM7 on my Verizon Droid 1 I had a lot of problems with randomly not receiving text messages... I ended up switching it back to CM6.
Does this still happen on cm7? (yes I did check the button to lock the messaging app in memory...)
I had some problems w/CM7, screen went crazy, switched to Steel Droid and it's working great w/GB.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
thanks for the input will give it some consideration, but for the meantime i have yet to have a FC or anything slowing down the phone on cyanogen mod 7 rc 10.
I went back to cronos 1.4 and it is very stable.
CM7 RC10 is one of the best i've tried fast, smooth ... that's all i need ^^ ... i like Miui too, but it still has many crashes with contacts with no aparent reasons ..

what crashes with contacts ? .. do u have the latest version eybee's version ?
I think stability wise they are all good. The latest custom firmwares don't have random reboots or battery drain. But in terms of the most usable I would suggest telus lite 5.2

For me CM7 is very slow and crashes all the time. But I think I've got some software issues.
In my opinion FroyoMOD 2.8.0b is most stable rom For me, no reboots, freezing etc.
Yep, currently using CM7 RC10 and I think it's working really well.. snappy and stable
I´ve tested for my german Milestone CM6, CM7 RC9 and RC10, MIUI 1.7.1 and at last Ho!No!
The same problems with all this ROMs: Reboots every day, no notification on incoming SMS (except MIUI), no games runs (angry birds, stupid zombies, etc. - except CM6), reboots after one shot with the camera app. With MIUI, I have no free space on internal (although I`ve moved all apps to sd) and no RAM.
And I`ve tested everything with CPUsettings, overclocking, VM Heap settings, build.prop optimization, vsel settings, etc.
I`ve deleted all my favorite apps to get more space and performance. No widgets on screen..
So, I don`t know, which ROM I should test the next :-(
The fact is: Gingerbread ROMs are to heavy for my milestone. So I go back to CM6. I want my games back!!

I'd suggest giving FroyoMOD a try. There are a couple bugs in the latest 2.9 version, but I'm sure luca will get them ironed out, and the versions that I've used have been very stable and very responsive.
I like CM7 as well, but have always found myself cursing the lag and memory shortages that I get after a few days' use. But I'll probably give RC11 a try anyway.
Those of you using Cronos, is Maps working alright?
yeah, FroyoMod is a good Idea.
I love MIUI and CM7 too. The stock sms- and phone-app in MIUI are much better than all others. But for my weak Milestone they are too big.

Which ported ICS ROM is the best?

Tell me please. I wanna flash ICS in my GT-I9000
Thanks
I guess CyanogenMod 9 for SGS will be the best but it's still in alpha. I can't wait to see stable version (anybody knows when it will be released?). As far I didn't use any ICS rom so notnasty9999 you should wait for other replies.

Without fail daxinfinity's codenameandroid port;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485734
It's at the level where the CM9 alpha should be - great performance (especially with glitch kernel), best battery life of the ICS roms, and the most customization.
Do yourself a favour as well, install the apex launcher - looks and performance of the stock ICS launcher, but cyanogen levels of customization.
I tried cm9 and onecosmic
And now i got AKOP port 2.02
There is no lags , FC , not stuck , A lot of customizion
And it is the best for me

AOKP 2.02beta with Semaphore 0.8.1 is extremelly fast, reliable, stable! highly recommend.
ive just installed daxinfinitys got to say pretty good no problems so far love all the extra tweaks you can do.
Teamhacksung is the best. In my experience, this is the most stable ICS build (currently on build 16). I have messed about with AOSP and AOSK and some of the other versions and at first they seem better but often they seem to have a fault - lockscreen freezes or problems with my external sd card and transferring large files with my laptop. I have found the semaphore kernerl (latest version) really good when setting on battery saver mode. You can also change the boot animation with ROM toolbox - good stuff there!

is a bad habit.
I am aware of badly implemented search function of xda, but still?
Best practice = read more, try self.
Pattern of phone usage will always be different.
Bro, hello there, I have 2 SGS, one is running CM9 with original kernel, and another one is with TEAMICSSGS RC4.2+Devil kernel 14.2LED, no doubt, TeamICSSGS is my choice, it is fast, reliable, and most major function are working, around 95% of the function are working perfectly, especially the camera video effect, which makes my day..Try it, trust me..=D..have a nice day
Teamhacksung will pwn all the others and still does.
All those 'wow I have a new ROM' which is totally PAWITP's with a bit of my
own (kuch % battery and don't know what other kinda stupid stuff) are so
not comparable.
They call it SLIM ICS because they deleted some apps, wow it has such a
better battery and lightningfast, yeah well every dork can do that (but
they still call it a new ROM mhowhehaha). It's all in between the ears.
Still think there a 2 main ICS ROMS:
- OneCosmic
- TeamHacksung
And TeamHacksung, here flashed on my i9000, is still the best from build #1.
Stable, stock or on Glitch, so no need to flash all the 20 other useless things.
I don't even flash my phone now every week and my phone is kinda stable,
the accu's getting used to the build and with everything on I have a good
phone.
I use AOKP and I am very satisfied.
It has only very minor bugs and is perfectly suitable for everyday use.
I haven't used Teamhacksung as I had the "hello hello" bug in CM7 which others are reporting in Teamhacksungs CM9.
Currently using Team ICSSGS 4.2 with semaphore 0.8.1. Been using this combo for almost two weeks & battery life is awesome with great performance and for what I use my phone for it is super stable, virtually lag free and with no noticeable issues.
While I do miss all the customisations of the CM Roms the "hello hello" bug is a deal breaker for me. There is apparently a solution to actually fixing the bug but this also appears to work for some people but not all. (You can download hbb2_test.zip - http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4681 if you have these issues)
I agree with inozako TEAMICSSGS RC4.2+Devil kernel 14.2LED, is the best solution....try it
Testing almost all, cm9, CNA ('s), AOKP ('s), MIUIv4 and finally AOKP 2.0.2 is the best, the most stable, the easiest to customize & very good battery.
in my signature no doubt
I haven't tried Teamhacksung's since i have i9000b and it doesnt support it but i did try ICSSGS and i tell you i cant think on a better rom. You should give it a try, since its avalible for i9000, i9000b captivate and vibrant

Best STOCK like rom?

I've went back to latest official ROM, 2.3.3 JVH NEE, released in Sweden by Samsung because I got tired to always hunt for the perfekt kernel and the perfect ROM.
Now I know why I started looking for other ROM's.. It's lags when playing musik via Spotify while you surf the net, slow over all respons in UI, I know it's slow due to RFS and I've converted to EXT4, but I'm not fully satisfied.
I want a as near STOCK ROM att possible and stable as original (Yes, the latest Swedish ROM, 2.3.3 JVH, is the most stable ROM I've used and got the best battery time, even tho it's slow.).
Does you know of any ROM that meet these requirements? I would like to not feel the difference if I rebooted my phone yesterday or two weeks ago.

I would recommend you to try SAUROM JVU ROM. It's almost close to stock with huge loads of modifications integrated.
Yes, I would also go for SAUROM if it comes for a close to stock GB ROM. One of the benefits it has over many other Samsung-based ROMs is the integration of JKAY Mod that allows you to customize status bar buttons and power menu. Plus in the newest version it has some handy quick link buttons in the notification drawer.
Thank you guys, I'll take a look at Saurom.
___SAUROM___
I've also tried so many diff ROMs.
All I really wanted is nice working stock ROM.
Tried so many. Did not try SAUROM, cause this is a new one, but tried many SAUROM like. I mean ROMS, that claim that they are just like the stock, but better.
CM was fine, but it was also very complicated. And had some bugs.
Really stupid. I could not sync with google e.g.
Finally I ended up with MIUI. Surprisingly for myself.
Clean, nice, fast, easy swype customization and install.
Here are some screens:
http://db.tt/0gh5gInG
MIUI+Go launcher
It works fast, no lags, no freezes, nothing bad.
GSM works fine, GPS is super fast and accurate, battery is OK.
Finally I don't need to tweak my phone any more.

MIUI & Cyanogen are the real custom ROMS. All the rest are stock-based with tweaks and customization. Saurom is highly customizable compared to the other stock based. But if this doesn't matter to you, you can try Darky's latest ROM from his website. I currently use MIUI Rom, you can try the MINTBerry edition (Which I use ), available on the forum. And I would go for Saurom regarding stock based. Good Luck.

Nightly build still updated, real AOSP, less lag than stock, massive possibilities for customizations.
I've had JVH for some time, later JVU, now latest CM7.2 RC0 with CM7 kernel.
Changed to JVO modem (siky_dude has links to many flashable modems) to fix Hello-Hello-Bug. Better than JVK modem.
T9 dialer, better UI translation than JVU even for Norwegian, native keyboard support nor. + swe. + +
Don't flash each nightly (stress battery time?) but check changelog for interesting fixes. Most of the fixes are not even notable in every day use. Flashing new nightly WILL keep ALL settings, market apps, sms, data... Just clear cache/dalvik/prior flashing, fix permission post flashing.
BTW: ALL ROMs have some lag
(ref. ICSSGS RC4.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20420260)
Thanks for all your support.
I'll try MIUI first(http://roms.miui.us/2.2.17/MIUI.us_galaxysmtd_2.2.17_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip), never tried it but heard mutch about it.
Btw. Tried both the f1 and surface (like f1). Managed to **** up each in less than 2 weeks. Darky ROM was easy. Destroyed it in one week
but probably it is my party doing something really wrong.

MIUI Mintberry 2.2.17 Close to perfection. No... definitely not. It is perfect.
I've been using the MIUI mintberry for a few weeks and it's so frickin' amazing. First impression was "oh this is beautiful" then i noticed it was fast. Few days passed and the battery life seemed great. I did some benchmarks and surprised by the results.
I would highly recommend for you to try that one!
Cheers
I'd go for DarkyRom... It worked pretty well for me, bur then I discovered MIUI Roms and they are much better!!
DarkyRom isnt a fully custom Rom. Its a stock samsung edited. There are only 2 custom gb roms. MIUI and Cyanogenmod7 and they run much faster ofcourse. Im a CM fan either way

stable ics

i have a galaxy s 9000.
i would like to install a new stable and fast version of ics.
i had installed ones but it's very slowly.
could you tell me a compatible version for my phone?
Try CNA 1.4.0 or AOKP 2.0.2 beta 23.
Both are very stable and have a good battery life. I use AOKP at the moment and am very happy with it. It has even a power save mode that can go into no-data or 2g-only mode when the screen is off (plus many other features like auto-sync schedule).
I'm using AOKP 2.02 beta 23 too and am very satisfied. Stable, smooth, lot of options,... And "BHuvan goyal" actualizes it constantly. One of the bests if not the best...

*sigh* what ROMS did you try? Why do you want to use ICS? What was "slow"? If you want a really really stable ROM, you should consider an official (gingerbread) one.
Otherwise: it depends on your needs and your usage (wifi, data, browsing, music, video, taking photos and / or videos, with what resolution, etc.). Try a few to see what fits best to you - my initial approach would be teamhacksung and ICSSGS.
AOKP ICS Rom 2.02
AOKP ICS Rom 2.02 Beta build 23 is great, I am running it at the moment and it is totally stable. I actually prefer the ICS Kernel from Devil, it has some more functions.

AOKP is also something else besides "great" and "totally stable":
Not updated/bug-fixed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22788547
Has potential to die while other devs progress.
AOKP
I have been using AOKP beta 2.02 for the last week and I love it!
It's really great! No FCs, good batterylife, no RIL issue. For now this seems to be a good ICS ROM available.
As far as i tried, i find ICSSGS (onecosmic) more stable than a stock one. It works faster, it doesnt freezes, battery life is good, and it's beautiful. And its AOSP.
I believe this is what you're looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510940
Android 4.0.4 (Port)
ics
I tried ICSSGS 4.1 & 4.2 and it was nice but a little lagging in my opinion. I am now on AOKP 2.0.2 beta 23 and loving it. It's not just the usual ICS but also with a "cusom rom" on top of it. You should try it.
Slim ICS 2.6
I've been using Slim ICS 2.6 for a couple of days now and everything is working great! It is a light and VERY fast ROM.
For me it has a couple of issues but nothing serious, the facebook contacts sync problem (solved it with HaxSync from the market) and the compass isn't working in Google Maps.
But despite these 2 issues I can honestly say I haven't been happier with my phone since I bought it.

Hi,
I've been using the Team ICSSGS' ICS 4.0.3 RC 4.2 since last few days.
I think this ROM is now as good as a stable ROM
The only issue that has been bugging me is connecting to a 802.1x secured wifi network
Otherwise, it has an awesome interface, everything works... and can be used as a day-to-day ROM now.
i tried almost all ics rom , and i believe the best stable ics rom are CodeNameAndroid 1.3.3 and 1.40 , no lag , no FC , just perfect , work all perfect
After trying CM9, i am running AOKP 2.02 for five days now and it's really a good rom. Only one crash of music apps. Batterylife is better than a stock rom. Lots of options. I love it.
I've been running CodeNameAndroid 1.40 for couple of days now and it works great.
However, it seems Dax might be changing project from that to something else, so I might try something else soon.
I'm a satisfied user of ICSSGS RC4.2 (stock kernel) and this rom i'd like to recommend to You. Of course, it has some issues (a few, really) - like any other ICS port - but it is 100% stable and i use it since it has appeared on xda for download. To be sure and to avoid more problems i suggest to stick with native kernel, which is very good by the way
Wow!! So many people using AOKP. really overwhelmed!! Thank you all.

No wi-fi related problems here (speaking about RC4.2) but there is always something to be fixed - mostly minor issues.. but sometimes annoying. For example, i've experienced once when receiving a call i couldn't use my lockscreen because it freezed for a few seconds - it happened just once and i missed a call then :/ But what can i say - we all have to remember that all of these ICS ports are just beta's or RCs so let's hope there will be fully working ICS rom with no issues at all soon 4.0.4 version has appeared after all so i believe it will fix some of our troubles too
AOKP !
I'm using AOKP too
Stable, fast, no FC (I'm using it for a week) and a good battery life.

Starting point for my P990

Hi, i'm new here, and i got a P990 Optimus Dual 2 days ago. Yesterday morning i flashed CWM and then the rom Nova-HD.
I tried it for a while and i like it, kinda smooth etc... but it have so many bugs and i can't use this ROM for my daily Usage (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1607238 same problems as this fellow).
I want to try them all, but i need a starting point to rely on (and i want ICS too). So my point is: Could you advice me on a ROM/KERNEL/OTHER STUFF that is stable (not so much, i can live with bugs), does not drain battery in 5 hours, and is reliable?
I'm not so new here (i had a liquid/mini/metal and a SGS+) but when i look at the changelogs and Release logs i really don't know what to look at...
I highly recommend Temasek's Unofficial CM7 ROM.
Rock solid for stability. Only known bug is the arbitrary charging SOD that some people are getting.

If you want a stable ICS rom, you have to wait till LG official release ICS.
If you want a stable rom, use temasek`s unofficial CM7 build or
Chuck Norris Edition V.1.2, (it`s based on temasek`s rom, with additional tweaks and customization options).
The official LG V20Q/V20R, is also a good stock gingerbread rom.
(of course there will be other very good roms, but I don`t have tried other roms actually)
Uhm, i don't really know if i can go back from ICS... ya, it is bugged and all, but it is also so ****ing beautiful *_* i don't really mind bugs, i need stability only on SMS and calls... i can fix internet and the rest with a reboot =|
So the question is, which is the most stable ICS CM9 ROM/KERNEL?
EDIT: I am now installing harsch kernel
I really liked the combo of nova hd and harsh kernel. However I missed being able to record video, so it was back to stock gingerbread for me...
Yeah, i like it too. I flashed harsh yesterday and i don't have any bugs (except for videos and wi-fi tethering [not tested]) This combo is quite nice ^^
