I have been seeing a lot of talk about these "toast" notifications.
Does the moto x have these? If so where?
Its my understanding that they ate like a banner at the top of the screen. But my notifications only show on the bar.
Slapped the sh*t out of my X
They are the notifications that come up on bottom, it fades in to black with a minor transparency and shows a small message then fades out

On the moto x? I have never seen one. Do you have to enable it? Are there only certain things it happens on?

Try creating an email and press home before sending it, you'll see a message come up on bottom saying something like "Message saved as draft". That's a toast message...

Somewhat relevant, Buttered Toast is an Xposed module that can add the application name to the toast messages if you don't know where they are coming from.

I've not used it personally, but I saw it somewhere recently (Lifehacker, I think).

Ok. I have tweaked the living heck out of my new droid phone, with much frustration and glee . One thing I'd REALLY like to change is this goofy green droid picture/art that pops up when you're on a call. Please. Please tell me there is a way (I am rooted and everything) to remove this, or install a dialer that'll cover it up. Thanks a lot.
That only happens if u don't have a contact photo saved..I think

Well, if you have Facebook, it's super easy. SNS syncing takes care of that, and will attempt to make connections by name similarity, identical email addresses or mutually supplied phone numbers.
Also, if your contacts have a Google profile that you've linked to in your email contacts, that'll do the trick.

Anyone know how to use this feature? I'm looking in the gallery at some pictures I took with the phone, but I don't see an option. Is there something I need to turn on in the settings?
Also trying to use it, but it never suggests the "best shot"...
It happened once for me. It's more hit or miss I think. But what I think is best shot will occur mainly with a person. So if the person moves while you're taking a photo, it'll have another photo that may be better

I'm fairly certain it's only an active feature. When you go to take a picture, it actually takes multiple pictures and you can choose right then which is the best. I know the HTC One had something similar to this, and there's a video showing how theirs works, so I'm assuming it's the same on the X2.
I'm going with the guess that they haven't rolled out that feature to their camera or gallery app yet.

It didn't ask me after I took the photo but when I went to view the image?

That's a toast notification and not one that's standard in Android. If you have any sort of task killer app or cache cleaning app I would look at that as the first culprit.

What is a toast notification? I have no task killers installed and never have.
It just refers to the style of notification you're seeing. Toast notifications are popups that are not actionable and not persistent.
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/notifiers/toasts.html
Unfortunately there's no easy way to determine what is generating the toast notification unless you are rooted. Some people have reported that the M-Go app produces these notifications. Regardless, it's not part of stock Android and it is being generated by some app that you have installed.
I do have the MGO app uninstall it for now to see what happens. Thanks for the info.

I don't want to talk to you early but I think uninstalling MGO fixed that issue. I haven't had that error since I removed it.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk
has now been a full day without the M-Go app and no errors. Bettery also has been much better without that app installed.
TY again for the info
I'm glad this worked for you. What does MGo do anyway?

Video service that took over the service Samsung had. Only use it now because I had some credit from some titles that did not transfer from Samsung. I have about $40 credit. Will use it till I am out of credit. It supports Chromecast too.
Have not reinstalled it and error has been gone since. Phone battery is better without it too.

It cant be removed and its a pure hardware issue... Replacing the whole front panel of your Moto x will fix your problem... and the front panel will cost you the same price as the moto x is now.. So buy a new moto x instead...

It basically shows a preview of any internet url, not sure about webpages that don't have photos. The preview kind of sucks as it's limited but somewhat gives you an idea. That way you don't have to click on the url to figure out what it is if it's not familar to you.
One example, one of my lil brothers used to send me youtube links that were gorey, etc. He knows I don't like viewing them. Now he can't trick me anymore.
Or if you happen to receive spam texts or texts from parties unknown you can get an idea of what the link is instead of having to visit a url that might be harmful. I don't know, I've never received spam texts or from people I don't know but just a thought.
I can see how it can be annoying to some but at least we have the option & can turn it off as desired. To add, the stock Gallery has a new feature I've never seen before (maybe the S8 had it, I don't know). If you take a screenshot of a website it'll include the url so you can visit tge page again in the future. I have it turned on but have not tried it yet.
