You need to interop unlock your ATIV S first and install SamWP8 Tools by -W_O_L_F- through Windows Phone 8 SDK -> Application Deployment. If you need more info on how to install Windows Phone 8 SDK on Windows 7 visit this thread. If you have Windows 8, you can install the SDK from the Microsoft website itself. You need to register your phone first through the Windows Phone Developer Registration application included in the SDK before you can deploy apps on your phone.

Yeah, essentially what @bruce142 said. You can follow the steps in the FAQ for getting a devunlock and doing the InteropUnlock. I'll need to make a new Q for what can I do with an InteropUnlocked device.

Made a quick guide on how to flash your phone using Windows XP mode on Windows 7. ( For People that cant do it on there Windows 7 due to driver problems )
1. Download Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
2. Install first Virtual PC then take a reboot and install Windows XP Mode.
3. Do a Windows Update on the Windows XP Mode, and make sure that .Net framework is installed.
4. Download Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/activesync-download.mspx
5. Connect the phone to the computer , once that is done you can click on the USB menu above your Windows XP Mode.
6. Attach the devices that you need by clicking on them. (Make sure that the phone is in the bootloader if you are going to flash it)
I have tested it on my phone a couple of times worked every time.

yah been doing this since 1st time loading cooked rom into my HD
Thanks for your guide Giland, but I've been using Windows 7 and used same method as described by mezolezo, i.e.
1- Reboot your HD device on the bootloader
2- plug the Cable till you see the USB written in the bottom of the screen
3- you can Flash your HD now
Also the Dummies Guide also provides a detailed step-by-step guide for flashing including how to downgrade drivers for Windows 7 so 'usb' is displayed in bootloader
Still I appreciate your efforts and hope to here more from yourself
Thanks
Rick
Using windows 7 64b and i just make an active sync connection and use the given software with the roms... Only had driver issues while Windows 7 was stil on earlier RCs.
You don't need do that! Simply boot windows 7 using disable driver <something> lol! Update drivers and flash! I use this method and i never have problems!
What do you mean with upgrade driver?
Where can I find the driver?
This my friends it is very very complicated.I am sure it is working but..
If you have windows 7 install windows mobile device centerr, plug in your HD and FLASH.OR you may copy the BLACIMG.NBH to the card and FLASH.
NO NEED TO OVER COMPLICATE YOUR LIFE.
Thank you anyway for the tutorial.
Was just a test since @ work the mobile center wont work no mater what i try.
So i found this complicated way to do it and its working
I did not want to offend you in any way,i am using windows 7 for a long time now and always flashed using Windows mobile center.
I plug in the HD. When asken select the Active sync mode, then start the RUUWrapper and tihs is it, the rest is his job.
And it worked always.
But i still preffer the card method.
found out my problem here , guese what it was forefront anti virus that did it all
I just disabled it and then i reinstalled the Windows Mobile Device Center.
i simply flash my rom on my windows 7 ultimate as i used to do on Vista. Why bother complicating one's life

Using a Windows 7 Update as opposed to a full Win 7

Hey guys,
is it possible to get Windows 7 working on the Shift by using a Win7 Update, rather than a full Win7 version on CDROM?
I have a Win7 Professional Update for XP or Vista through my employer that I would like to use on my Shift, especially because I woudn't need a USB DVD. I can't find anything about whether this process will work just like the other options in the guides here, or that it is best not to use this on the Shift.
Anyone have any experience with this that can help me feel a bit more safe in using the Update?
thanks,
HB

Don't worry about MOD EDITmessing up your shift, you can always use the recovery keys (fn+f3) that can fix ur shift to factory default... with Business Vista in it... regarding an upgrade. well I did manage to upgrade but the trick is you have to download from microsoft an additional upgrade (vista service pack 1) before you can upgrade to windows 7. But brother believe me your shift will be much faster if you install windows 7 in a clean installation... there are threads here that can help you install windows 7 in your shift...

TouchXplorer install issue

Hi
Tried to install TouchXplorer [HD2 WP7] but cannot be installed. I have the basic DFT rom. Tried to install The Jailbreak Chevron but cannot install this either.
[I called MSft and have the correct MS key and works ok].
Any assistance on how to install TouchXplorer please?
Thanks,
A
I have issues to install touchxplorer
. How do i go about it?
Have you made sure that you have got the Chevron Certificate on your device?
Have you made sure that you have made a partnership with your device and Zune and that Zune is running?
Have you made sure that the time and date and your device is correct?
Have you made sure that your phone is unlocked?
Once you done all that guys then run Chevron Unlocker from the root of your C drive, making sure that you right click on it and run as administrator. You should be able to unlock and then use M$ application deployer to deploy TouchXplorer.
You could also try installing one of the custom ROMs as these are all unlocked and you can sideload apps without the need to unlock.

Will Windows Phone 8 Be Bootable on HBOOT Devices?

Hi There!
I know Windows Phone 7 can't boot with HBOOT, but maybe WP8 can?
If so, will it be possible to boot it on current Android devices?
Thanks for helpers!

From what it says on this blog wp8 won't be running on anything it wasn't intended for:
"These new Windows Phone 8 security features also make it obvious as to why Windows Phone 8 will not run on current Windows Phone devices… they lack a chip that has been burned with security keys for the platform, OEM, and device."
