Some little things on .290 ROM are simply ruining the pleasure of use Z1 as a media player.
One of these is the "bug" on auto brightness.
Even when disabled it still acting in ANY situation, interacting with the predominant color that are being displayed!
This thing are driving me nuts watching videos on Netflix and reading this forum on Tapatalk!
Is there any way to disable this f#cking thing?

when I use this app, and my screen goes to sleep, the app stops playing. This is different from several of the mp3 player apps I've used. when the screen sleeps they keep playing. I've call the audible support team and they weren't much help. I'm looking for someway to turn of the screen (it does make a nice night light )and keep audible paying in the background. I have tryed screen filter and it does help but it just dims the light.
any other suggestions?

Try Captivate Keep Alive. I think that is what fixed the problem when I had my Gtab.

Are people still having issues with the screen brightness changing itself all the time? These last few weeks I am finding I am needing to toggle smartsave on and off again more then I used too.

Yes, I don't know what ASUS is doing, they should have fixed that issue by now. It is quite irritating to have the brightness change itself when watching movies in a dark room.
Known issue.
A workaround is to install Lux and tell it to set brightness on wake. Works pretty well. (Not as well as a properly functioning ambient light sensor mind you, but bugs like this are par for the course with Asus products!)
hi, i am on cm11 M12...i noticed that when i am watching videos on my z1 , the screen dims after 1 min and then phone gets locked.i tried other apps but they all behave the same.
i downloaded an xposed module called app settings to keep the screen on for mx player , but it didnt work.
Anyone else facing such an issue ???

I bought a new p20 pro recently and noticed that, when I record footage, the picture goes dim and dark when i pan or move the scene (even slightly) and the bright, and then dark again. That means that when I play back the footage, the brightness level constantly shifts and changes, making it highly annoying and at times the picture is dim enough that its a struggle to see anything (yes even in broad daylight).
Is there a way to turn this dynamic brightness shifting off or is this a faulty phone?

Hi, did you ever get a reply elsewhere or found the solution somewhere?
My wife's P20 Pro has the same issue. We always accepted the way it is, but only know i thought of finding a solution to it...
Hence curious if you managed to fix it?
As the title suggests, Youtube Music stutters only once per song when losing focus (like when switching to another app, or turning the screen off). This happens on stock, LineageOS, rooted, non-rooted, it doesn't matter. I'm at my wits end, what could be the culprit?
