[Q] cant connect to wifi at work - wpa2 aes

hi folks, im running cm6 with wildmonks 2.6.34.4-925mv cfs svs aix 720p kernel with the 5.08.00.04 korean radio.
my work has a wpa2 aes encrypted wireless network setup. phone sees the network, and even accepts the password, but never gets an IP address. it hangs at obtaining IP address for a few seconds, and then goes to remembered, not connected, and back to obtaining IP address. it will cycle like this if i leave wifi on all day, and it never connects.
thoughts? the IT guy says its the phone... as he hasnt had trouble with other wpa2 spec'd devices. something im doing wrong, or is he wrong, or should i go back to frf to see if that works, or try a different radio?

By the looks of it, it never actually connects. Double-check that you enter the correct password.
I have WPA2-AES set up at home, and it works fine.

Sounds exactly like the issue I had with the router in my parents house. My phone just didn't get on with that particular router. They upgraded recently and all is well.

pw is good. still wont connect. not sure why. i have no troubles connecting to cisco equipment in other places, and so im not sure thats the issue either. other suggestions?

what rom, kernel, and radio are you using?

WPA2 Enterprise was broken when Froyo hit, currently some of the roms fix it, the latest CM6 fixed it I think (kinda). Other roms are planning to have fixes in the near future.

Enomther's 2.11.3 with its 720p AudioMod kernel, radio 4.06.
One router is Linksys WRT54GL, the other is WRT54G2 (2 places - mine and parents'), both are converted to DD-WRT firmware.

have you tried using the kernel that comes with CM6 to see if it works with that?

figured it out... i had the wrong gateway address entered... d'oh! :-(
good now. thanks for the thoughts on what to try though.

i have an adhoc with aes security at home.my laptop connects to internet via wireless. but the X1 phone cant.
rom 1.05.931.10
radio 1.14.25.55
kernel:i cant find kernel
when i am setting the wireless on the phone:
1.authentication:wpa-none
2.data encryption:aes
3.set password
4.click next
5.in the next page(configure network authentication) every thing is disabled
6.click finish.
7.does not connect
please help me

I have kind a problem with wifi WPA2 secured networks. It only works for a few minute. After that, it disconect, and very often after that, and after 15 minute, it goes very strange, in setting says it connect to my wifi,but i can not access the internet?? I already tried full wipe and again the same problem i have,
I thought it was the rom, after i install every diferent rom,is just the same problem with WPA2 secured networks. although i have tried with open wifi it goes fine?
Also i have change the ip setting using static ip,Gateway, and dns i have pairing with my wifi router, doesnt work either, it keeps disconect after a while.
Whats wrong with WPA2 secured networks?
I have other phone that is N****, and its wifi is normal,very fast too in WPA2,but my xperia very slow,often disconnect.
Can anybody solve this?

as the title says, I have a problem with connecting to any wifi network, already spent two days searching different forums, I've tried various CUSTOM ROM (zeus, miui, stock 2.2.2), but without success, currently using ParanoidAndroid V2.52...
i see all wifi network, when it connects just stuck on connecting, then disconnect... router is 100% OK, connects with PS3 or other device OK...
obviously a problem with the MAC address, in advanced wifi is set to always and my MAC address is 74:A7:22:E5:09: DA... but in the etc / wifi / nvram.txt in line macaddr = 00:90:4c:c5:00:34 ??? not same as orginal...
any help is welcomed :good: and sorry on my bad English

Why dont you try to set your MAC adress then? But if it doesnt work with any ROM, what about your wifi device, might it be broken? Did you already try to connect to other wifi networks? Did it work there? What channel does your router use? Maybe change it to another (between 1-10 I would say) one and try again?

I think that wifi device is not broken, bcuz i connect 4-5 time in 2 days... but page from browser not open... maybe 100-200kb download and stuck... then disconnect...
how to rewrite the address in the etc / wifi / nvram.txt ... I tried with root manager and busybox tutorial from this forum but without success
EDIT: i made some progress... in router settings i change to United States (even I am in Europe - Bosnia) and channel 9... connect each time but not open any page in browser ???

The address in nvram.txt is a dummy MAC address and should interfere with the actually MAC address once it's fully powered on.

today i connect (router settings: US, channel 9, mac address 74:A7:22:E5:09A) work 1h without any problem, full speed, then disconnect and all day can no longer connect with same settings :/

is there any other rom to try

The mac address in nvram.txt is dummy address. It's only used if it fails to get proper MAC address or haven't got it yet.
Perhaps it's hardware issue.

[Q] No option for "configure portable wifi hotsport" after JB install

Hi all clevr guys,
I flashed 4.1.3 onto my Note 1 and realised that i cant do wifi tethering because the laptop asks me for a password which i never set.
I also realised that there is no option for "configure portable wifi hotspot", please help as me using wifi tethering is a big part of my job and the company pays for my wifi.

Wifi tether router working on lollipop?

Who's using lollipop and have wifi tether router working? Last time I tried on poprocks and another rom, it would connect and not give a Internet connection. On another rom, it would reboot the phone.
