Wall Charger replacement? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase a replacement OEM wall charger for my Galaxy Gear. I've been to Samsung's website but I could only find the replacement cradle. I've also checked eBay and sites like Amazon.

why can't you just use any usb wall charger? I charge my gear with a 4-port anker wall charger along with our phones. works fine.

I'm looking to replace the oem charger for future resale value. I have a solution for now.

wow. just wow.
resell value... yeah sure, people are gonna pay you more because you have the original charger.

Ok... your opinion is noted, however, it has no relevance to my question.

Emailing Samsung Support ask them ...making sure you state your location ..worth a try
50/50 chance of a useless reply :silly:

maybe it doesn't, but your way of thinking is flawed, and greedy.
charging cradle is using standard micro usb connection. 99% of the cables/chargers will work with it. everyone own a few at least, they come with nearly every device. micro usb is present on more than 90% of devices. you charge everything with one cable. yet you are trying to get the original charger - for no reason.

Again, your opinion has nothing to do with my question. My way of thinking isn't on trial here, I just asked a simple question and you're not contributing.

Buy it from someone that charges it from a standard micro-usb, having the original charger sitting unopened inside the box...

I ordered a spare dock charger from Samsung. It came with a wall charger. After discount I paid $18.00. I am using the dock charger in the car so the wall charger is not in use at all. I have no need for it.

I guess I wasn't around whenever you were crowned "knower of all things usb and resale", strange though considering you obviously have no clue what you're talking about. First of all having the original box and original contents along with any item being resold greatly increases the overall chance of it selling, it reduces the amount of time it takes to sell, and most importantly items sold with their original box and contents on average bring in 15% - 30% MORE MONEY than the exact same items being sold without the original box and contents. So wow, just wow, it actually does make a difference whether you want to believe it or not. But I guess whenever you sell something of yours you just give it away for practically nothing because otherwise you'd be greedy right? Let me know whenever you're ready to sell your Gear because I'd be happy to give you $20 bucks for it! Secondly, just because a different cable might fit into the port doesn't mean that it'll work the same way. You're "any old cable will do" theory is kind of ridiculous considering cables by themselves have different resistances which alone could cause longer charge times and faster battery drain, and each adapter has it's own voltage and amp outputs which can also effect different devices in different ways. It's funny how none of those things ever crossed your mind yet somehow you're an authority on the subject. LOL Wow just wow!

uhhh pretty much sounds like it to me, just phone samsung and say your battery is discharging from full in under 5 hours and its a faulty battery. They'll ask for your phone serial number and then SHOULD send you a new battery completely free. At least they did for me now i've always got a spare battery in my pocket incase my phone dies.
I left it charging and its fine now. Im not sure what lasting damage has been done though!
If your cheap and in need of some extra power, I suggest ordering some backup batts from Hong Kong (ebay). I don't know what everyone's opinion on these non OEM batteries are here on these forums, but I have 2 in shipping right now and have read of other threads that they do the job. I just know I wont be charging these batteries IN my phone, just in the charger base the kit supplies.
I've also read some people making the valid point that if your willing to throw down the cashola on this phone initially, then u can afford the OEM batteries.... but I'm cheap

The bundle I ordered also has the USB and car usb converter. I've had my phone for 2 weeks and already noticed my damn cat has put a few teeth marks in my stock USB cable Now it's Canadian with some black duct tape.
the G7 batteries from HK on ebay work really good
i've been using them for a month, and they run as long as the Original that came with the phone
even though they might be fake, they run and look very authentic to me.
Thanks for the info, those are ones I have comming in

yup! that happened to me back then with my PalmOS phones
and also Windows phones
the problem is the USB connectors
some times if the USB connectors plugs in not aligned properly, it causes a weird charge & short of the battery, which results in the over heat, ultimately killing the battery.

WARNING!

I got stupid and bought an after-market power adapter for my Nexus from -- where else? -- eBay. I've bought a bunch of stuff from these guys before and everything worked as advertised. http://tinyw.in/d5b9 Not so with this!! In fact, I'm lucky to have anything left of a tablet. I plugged it in to "top it off" and it read 87% I came back three hours later to an N7 that was so hot I could barely hold it and the meter said 17%!!! I'm hoping it hasn't damaged something permanently. So far, so good. We'll see after an overnight charge on the OEM charger.
Word to the wise -- don't cheap out on this stuff. It could cost you the tablet!
Sure you didn't leave a game running or something?
Always good advice, in your case though it might be possible that you didn't have a very good connection from the micro usb plug to the N7. Measure the voltage output of the charger and if it's ok it's worth trying again but not leaving the device unattended.

Not a chance. This thing is going back for a refund. I think I got off extremely lucky and I'm not tempting luck.
I've had about the same thing happen with the stock wall charger.

All in one mhl adapter

Since there are a lot of knockoffs on ebay I thought I would come in with a pleasant surprise. I bought http://item.mobileweb.ebay.ca/viewitem?itemId=130783773578this expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised at how well it works on my Note2. The only thing is the usb cord is not very long and you have to have it plugged in so that the phone is charging for it to work, but for the price is awesome.
I ordered one just like that off of ebay as well and it works for me too. They all have to be plugged in to power to work.
Well I learned something today. This is my 2nd Samsung phone and first experience with mhl adapter and didnt know it HAD to be plugged in. Thanks.
Thanks for the link.. at $12 it's a cheap enough gamble.
Can you detail where the length is lacking? Easy enough to add an extension for length?

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question

The HDMI part of the cable is 6 feet like advertised but the usb power part is less than half that length. I have a usb extension cable somewhere but can't find it to try it :banghead:

That's what's posted up a bit and mine wouldn't work without power source. Learning curve lol.
One thing I did notice is that even with it plugged in and "charging" after a couple hours on watching you tube the phone dropped from 80% to 72% battery so not really sure if it's charging or if it just takes that much power. I was using the wall charger that came with my phone so it should have been getting the 2 amps.
I think this mhl cord probably only allows 500ma. Something I use to counter that is this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nkahoang.screenstandby
It allows you to turn off your screen, because even on the lowest brightness it still eats up the battery.
Good thread. There are a couple on amazon like this as well
For those of you who shop at monoprice, their 11 to 5 pin adaptor is back in stock and they even bundle it with an mhl adaptor.
I can't link to it as I just registered here, but it's under accessories>cell phones

[answered]Not charging via pogo pins

My dock has been charging my phone perfectly for weeks, the other day I came in and plopped the phone on the dock and nothing.
I checked the pogo pins (of the dock) with a multimeter, they are working. I've tried different power sources for the dock as well (wall adapter, pc, other cables).
I've checked to make sure the pins are making contact with the phone, good solid contact.
I haven't changed anything on the phone recently, any suggestions?
The phone charges fine through USB.
[ANSWERED]
since i apparently posted this on the apple forums instead of xda, all the replies were "shoulda bought apple products"
so anyone having this problem, i solved it by reinstalling a nand backup. apparently it was a software issue. hopefully this saves you from the apple fanboys.
do you have original sony cradle? i had chinese replica and it did not work all times.

No, I was too impatient for it and got the goosewhite dock, besides I like the looks of it better tbh. The dock is putting out power, I don't get why it's not charging. its not a complex system at all.
Get the Sony one if you don't want the same issue occurring.
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
why would changing the dock have anything to do with the problem? when voltage is applied to the pogo pins, the phone does not charge. how would changing the dock i use make a difference in that at all?
i would understand if the pogo pins were putting out less power or no power, but they put in exactly the amount of power going into the dock, they make good solid contact, i've check continuity and its making a solid connection...
Then take the dock apart and see if anything got loose

Because the one you've bought is rubbish!
I brought this as an alternative to the Sony DK26 because I was sick of opening the flap everytime I wanted to charge my phone. It does fit the Xperia Z and looks nice enough. It also activates the dock mode and the Xperia's smart connect function. This is why I gave it 1 star. HOWEVER, it outputs at 500mA as opposed to the 1800mA delivered by the Sony dock. This means it charges your phone incredibly slowly. I had my phone on the dock charging for 11 Hours and it managed to deliver a battery charge of just 51% which is ridiculous compared to the Sony charger which delivers a 100% charge in 2 hours.

I do not get why would anyone go for something cheaper and unreliable. Its like those iPhone users buying cheap non original cables to charge their iPhones, ended up causing the phone to blow up or messed up and blames it on Apple.
and yes you are the owner of the phone and you have the right to buy whatever 3rd party equipment for your phone, but dont expect it to work 100%.
Doesnt make sense if you ask me sir.
It is really hard to determine the main cause of this matter. It could be your phone: hardware or software (i doubt it is this one), or the 3rd party dock.
You tell me which one to throw and buy a new one.
Already told you why I bought it. There's nothing but stupidity in that review as docks do not put out power, they transfer it, the power supply puts out power. As for the amperage, it puts out what you put in. it will do [email protected] if you are stupid enough to put that through it... Assuming the wires don't burn. if you are going to base your assumptions on a review, at least choose one from someone knowledgeable. also, my dock never took 11 hours to charge, not that i ever bothered timing it but it sure as hell wasnt more than 4 hours (and thats giving an a good bit of a safety margin), i'd guess 2 hours 0-100 if i had to.
What I'm telling you is that the phone is not accepting the charge, not that the dock is messed up but the phone. And I wanted to know if anyone had similar issues or suggestions.
I'm glad you have insight on the matter and an opinion, however you are not trying to answer the question. I've already informed you the dock is intact and making a connection. I've checked the voltage of the xperia official charger at the cable at its end: 4v dc, the dock when hooked to that charger is 4v dc tested at the pins. I can put a larger amount through it, and any number of amps. A pogo dock is a very simple device, official or otherwise, the difference is mainly in price and design. The diy thread is a perfect example of that.
@LitoNi
I took it apart, nothing is loose. thanks

It's been answered, you've not bought an official product, that's the problem! Buy cheap unofficial batteries, expect issues, buy cheap replica SD Cards, expect issues, buy cheap unofficial chargers, expect issues, and looks like you can cheap docs to that list too.

I'm sharing what some of us have learned here, cheap non official products give issues, accept it or don't.
From me to you.

Not much anticipation?

Seems like very little anticipation for this.
Is it the lack of features people may have hoped for or the price scaring people off?
Seems like if it can be rooted a whole bunch of possibilities open up.
I may be the only person I know aware of it or wanting one in real-life... How about you guys?

I want one, but waiting to see what interest there is from developers. I have a pebble that I'm pretty happy with. Neptune pine looks good too
Price isn't to much of an issue - it's a new technology, and they are still trying to figure out a good pricepoint. Just light when lcd/plasma screens came out; they were 10's of thousands of dollars
I see a lot of people who were interested using pebbles and Sony. I just thought the Camera function and the syncing features were quite cool in comparison to the others on the market.
I want one, but the price and the proprietary charger are making me think twice.
If the battery life was longer, the charger might not be as big an issue, but if you happen to stay overnight away from home, you can't just plug in any micro USB charger to top up your Gear.
Sony got it right with their 2nd gen smart watch. They switched from a proprietary charger to generic micro USB.

Yes, a micro USB plugs into the charging cradle. But who is going to carry the cradle around with them?
Would have been much better to have the usb port on the watch.

An opening for a micro USB port on the watch would defeat the water resistance feature. I might need to buy a second charging cradle.
The anticipation or potential lack there of is due to the fact that it will only pair with the GN3, GN10.1 2014 Edition and won't work with the GN2, GS3 and GS4 until they all get 4.3. It doesn't work with any other phones which I don't think was smart. Samsung should have made it more open to get more users into it. It could have been a gateway drug into more Samsung sales.

The new Sony watch has a better water proof rating than the Gear, whilst still having a micro USB port.
Same with the Experia Z1.
Maybe Samsung wanted to put some of the charging circuitry in the cradle instead of the watch. Good to reduce weight and size, but not very practical...
