Hello guys. Stamina mode doesn't seem to work efficiently for me because back to the days when I just received my new phone, it was like 3+ days of standby time. But now it doesn't do anything , in best case scenario stamina mode adds no more than 2 hours of stand time according to battery usage stats. I was told that stamina mode increases standby mode by at least 3 times of normal. What is the problem?
Maybe the battery has worn out?

Its a bug and the time it states is untrue.

my phone (434 fw) shows similar behavior...
at first, when i activated stamina mode ... it added like 24h to the estimated standby.
but now... nothing.
but i think it still does its job (shutting down wifi and all that) just doesn't show it
once i had a notification, that gmail would prevent stamina mode from working correctly...
I switched to the other email application then... don't know if it changes anything.
but still battery stamina is very OK...
love this phone!
I believe it automatically adjusts the time remaining according to your usage.

Stamina Mode is only affected by Reception, and apps installed/whitelisted. If it says 16 hours when you unplug the phone and the same when you turn stamina Mode off this is obviously wrong, the time calculated is meant to be standby time.

thr s another thread about it.

thr s no big bug in it, it s about calculating estimated time in standby > According to how u use and how many apps u exclude.

Guys I have the c6603 model running 10.3..a.0.423...i live in india but got the phone from australia and its telstra branded. the phone has been running well until a few weeks back i started noticing the battery level going down faster than usual...i am not a heavy app user...and in the battery settings, i have noticed that "android system" is using up almost 70-80% of d battery...the rest like 'screen', android os etc. only 5-10%...this has resulted in the phone lasting hardly a day even on minimal usage. So, could anyone tell me why is the phone acting like this ? what could be the possible reason for the android system using this much battery.
Any help would be appreciated.
Well. What i can suggest I have the same sort of issue. Disabled facebook app et al problem fixed.
Well if you want dig a bit deaper then instal app so called "wakelock detector "-> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en
Hope it will help!:fingers-crossed:
I'm a quite heavy user. I hadn't ever turned stamina mode off since I got the phone. Been using it for a few days with stamina mode off and the battery seems to be way better. When there's a hour or more wherein I won't use the phone I put stamina mode on.

There is a problem with the latest google services framework so that it eats your battery as long as you have location services enabled. So deal with the battery drain or disable location services

Here is your answer! FB is an piece of **** coded app, that is useless on non-rooted phones (Greenify is an must for even using FB app so you can terminate the app after each session).
I had the same problem with battery. I deleted fb with titanium backup and installed friends caster. With location services on and green power premium. I have two days of juce now. No greenify or other apps just green power set to switch off data and WiFi at night and during the day switch it on for 1min every 30 min. Of course when the screen is on I have the data constantly on. No games just websites, music, Tapatalk, Gmail and phone calls plus occasional Facebook browersing using friends caster.

I have just received my phone back from the Sony Repair Centre and seem to be suffering the same issue only more acute. The battery drain is so fast that I can't even charge it unless it is totally switched off, even with the screen off a no apps running it will only charge 8% overnight and with the screen on that 8% will drain in a few minutes.

Newest stock or not?
I'm not sure, it's a C6603, if that helps. I only got the phone originally in about July and it stopped working, wouldn't switch on or respond to any input. They returned it to me working, albeit with the SIM missing, but it had 44% charge, so I put it on charge. It actually seems to be getting worse, I've now switched it off in an effort to get it to charge faster, but having been on charge for several hours it's only up to 56% from 22%, I would guess that's in 7 hours.
Attention!
Guys I just came across this battery issue with samsung s3 users. They have this file "gsiff_daemon" which is giving them battery problems same as ours. the file comes under the name of Android System. Have a look at it and read about it on google. They have a post about it on xda as well.
So I checked if I could locate it in our Z's and maybe rename it or do something, but I wasn't able to locate it even after using ES File explorer. Maybe it is present under some other name and is probably the reason our "Android System" is using up 70-80% of the battery life.
I request some advanced users here to look into the problem and see if they can help us.
Background process limit
Hi all,
Trying this (Background process limit), i think will work, because now i see a lot of more processes in background than in previous releases ( wasting our batery and internet conection..)
I had the same issue in upgrade in a previous release and i solved activating the limitation of background process .
I am trying this solution now
To limitated, go into developer options
Then the 2 option beggining by the end , Background process limit.
I have put 2 process at most

okey ill give it a try & tell u if it works or not have a gud day
Please don't mess with the background process limit. It will have a negative effect on your phone's multitasking and will not increase battery life at all. In fact, it may decrease battery life because cached processes will be regularly removed from RAM and have to reload themselves.
The option is in the developer options for a reason. You shouldn't be touching anything in there if you don't understand what it is.
It's sad to see uninformed nonsense like that posted here when this is supposed to be a place for people to learn how their phone works. ?

its not about the software (as many forums try to imply): I went to a lab to replace the battery and now the phone works like expected. runs a full day. not few hours.

Try to re flash the stock ROM and then root again using doomlord easy rooting toolkit or use custom ROM

Do not reflash stock ROM it is a waste of time.
Do the following:
Open settings > Apps > All > Eco mode controller (delete data)
Reboot your phone. The data of the Eco mode is messed up so it is a waste of time to reflash stock rom and lose all your data

Don't mind the estimate. If I switch on Stamina Mode it shows 11 days (!!!) and when switch off shows 6 hours(!!!)....
Use your phone for everything as much as you can (instead of looking at it ) and if phone is new give it a week or several charge cycles.

Well, it showed me 11 days when Stamina Mode was ON. When switched FF showed 6 hours. But I had issues with my phone (very fast battery drain, extreme overheating), so cleared Eco mode data, and disabled/uninstall few apps. And now, when turn ON Stamina it shows 1 day 10 hours (example), so looks its back to "normal" . I think something was messed up in the system as now phone performs perfectly. Better than my previous phone, the mighty S3 LTE.
And I have to admit, I didn't like Sony (had only SE X10 which was a disaster), but this SP impressed me so much, that I ordered Z1 as well.
It's a good experience and refreshment from Samsung

And btw, the Snapdragon Guru app does a good job as well.
Also I find out that AV's and task killers doing more harm than good.
Disabled most useless apps (GAPPS,FB,Whatsapp etc) and I am really happy with my SP now.
One thing did a magic : in the Settings I switched Off Animation, Transition and one more thing and phone performs absolute perfectly.
Hi,
Its been a week since I bought the Xperia SP. The phone came with 50% battery with an estimated standby time of 2 Days. Now, the battery discharge really quickly. With a 100% battery it lasts only for a day (Estimated standby time of 20 Hours). Well I only listen to music on my phone. Brightness is kept at 1/3rd level and mobile data and wifi aren't used at all. I do a little bit of casual gaming. Subway Surfers , to be more precise. That's all. Also when you switch on / off the STAMINA mode, it doesn't effect the battery life. Estimated Standby Time sticks to what it was before switching on the STAMINA mode.
I need help in order to resolve this situation !

Man.. don't keep saying this like theres a bug with stamina mode.
It's not a bug, the reason his stamina is giving same estimated standby is because stamina is not making a difference, clearing data won't change this....only hide the problem for another few days.
Instead we should try find why his battery life is not good but from my experience this won't be easy... I think there's a problem with the xperia sp's stock rom causing fast battery drain.
@Gamer R - First thing to do is check battery stats for an obvious case. If there isn't one my best recommendation is to restart the phone. This can reduce the battery drain for a couple of days, sometimes restarting doesn't help though.

It might work for you.. but in OPs case it clearly isn't otherwise his estimated standby would be different with stamina enabled.
The phone does calculations related to your usage/battery drain to work out any benefit from stamina, if there is no benefit it won't report better standby time. Clearing data resets these calculations and nothing more...it wont fix any problem so there's no point in resetting them.

Clearing the data cant possibly have any benefit to battery life, I have a similar problem to you and already tried it several times. If it appears to improve battery life then its just the restart which helped (assuming you restarted)
Right now your stamina mode estimate is not accurate, it takes a few days for it to correct the calculation as all data has been cleared.

For me Its about 3 days. Some calls. Some angry birds. At start Stamina Mode shows for me 9 days. But stamina mode mod keep data of usage and analyze them. Thats why after some days Stand By time is reduced. Clear data from stamina mode, it will show about 9 days. Don't use (really dont) your device and it can be possibly to make SP working 9 days. WHen I charge my phone in evening with stamina mode on in the morning (after 9, 10 hours) i still have 100%.

Do you have anything disabled? I don't see how you can get that battery life on stock rom. I've factory reset, tried airplane mode etc.. nothing works, battery just keeps draining mysteriously.
100% after unplugged for 9/10 hours is just impossible. Even when my battery decides to drain slowly it will still lose 5% in that amount of time with no usage.

I have just disabled/uninstall pre installed operator apps, and some stock apps. Turn off bravia engine and gloves mode. And - I use 2G Network only - 3g or LTE Network cant hold battery so long. More traffic - more battery drain.
I use my phone at about 3 months and it still hold 100% during night after full load. More. When I wake up my device in the morning it still have percentage of battery which was when my XP went to sleep.
Stamina mode of course ON.

I tried removing most of preinstalled apps but didn't help at all, also I'm using 2g only.
If I charge phone to 100%, enable stamina then go to sleep... in 10 hours I will have lost at least 20% battery similar to what this person describes http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...ometimes/m-p/474409?sl=y&sso_no_log=y#U474409

We have (had - I run eXistenZ now) same software. Some people have this issue some not. I think this is hardware problem. Some batt can be better than others. Its like with for example CPU for PC. Some same models U can overclock a lot, and some make reboots after few steps.
In the year I've owned Xperia TL (LT30at), I've never been able to get a full day of use (12-14 hours) on one charge except for one week when I had to turn off the data connection (ran out of data allowance). I keep Stamina on at all times but BBS reports at least 3%/hr drain overnight. When the screen is on, the drain increases to 40-50%/hr and that's mostly on auto-brightness, which is minimal indoors.
At the same time, I see posts claiming that their V's are getting good 20 hours of total battery life, which includes 3-4 hours of screen time and minimal drain during inactivity. I understand that the V has a slightly smaller screen and 3G radio, but I can't fathom how that could account for such a difference in performance.
Can someone explain what differences I'm missing?
First things first. Have you compared your XTL's battery life with other XTL users? Or just maybe there are rogue apps sucking every bit of your phone's juice. Check with BBS or Gsam Battery Stats. And again, different people use their phones differently

Interesting. With my TL (lt30a Bell unit though - not AT&T unit), I would get a full day out of the battery, whether I was on stock PL 141 (JB), or the stock AT&T rom (which I think was also JB). Only thing I did on either rom was root/CWM/remove bloat apps manually.

BBS always says the biggest resource hog is bam_dmux_wakelock, which I think is related to wi-fi based location because it disappears when I turn off location. Overall, No. 1 and 2 battery suckers are Android System and Screen.

Try to repair the phone using pcc, or if pcc won't work for you (unlocked bootloader, modified software eg.) reflash the rom, your batterylife is not normal

That 3-4% drain in standby has always been there regardless of the ROM. I recently tried a stock-based 4.3 ROM that was draining 10% in standby - that was clearly fixed by another one.

But your phone needs way too much battery when the screen is on, you could eiter try to uninstall all unneeded apps, deactivate gps, nfc etc when you don't need it, or reflash the rom..

How much power does NFC need? And doesn't Stamina mode take care of all radios while in standby?

You said that standby drain isn't the problem. I don't know how much nfc needs, I don't think it is that much. Stamina only disables data and background apps, but not gps, as far as I know

My standby drain with Stamina is about 3.5-4%/hour. Is that normal? Compared to the screenshots of XV I've seen around here, it doesn't seem right. On top of that, Stamina app keeps on telling that the phone should last for about 15 hours or 24 hours on standby.

As said before, that also depends on what apps you have installed, and how you've configured Stamina mode, but your bigger problem is your screen on time, 1 hour is nothing. So you should try to reflash the rom. But before you do that you could ckeck the battery, you can find out about your battery health at the service menu

I get straight 2 hours from 100% to 0% of screen with minimal brightness. Also, the unit runs extremely hot when the screen is on.
Battery health is "Good".

This means it is a software problem. Reflash the rom, and wipe all your data. Roport back when you've done this

What is full day of your use? I end up with about 7 hours of standby and 1 hour of screen on before the phone gets to critical battery.

LTE: On (of course, but mostly auto switches to the wifi)
NFC/GPS/WIFI: On
Bluetooth: On twice a day (when I use NFC smart tag in the car)
Brightness: Always Auto
Google account (sync always on)
Exchange account (for work emails, always on push)
WhatsApp and BBM accounts
I don't have any old screenshots of my batt. usage, but this was a usual day for my TL:
Unplug from charger at 8:30 a.m.
Glance at work email
Go to car, NFC tag to turn off wifi and turn on Bluetooth
30 mins later, NFC tag to turn ON wifi/turn off Bluetooth
Moderate use throughout the day: occasional whatsapp, bbm, texts. Work email if I'm not at desk, imgur 5 mins, instagram 5 mins, xda premium app for 5 mins (a couple of times a day).
Go to car, NFC tag to turn off wifi and turn on Bluetooth
30 mins later, NFC tag to turn ON wifi/turn off Bluetooth
At home, battery is likely at 55%. Nothing but occasional whatsapp/bbm/texts usually for the evening. By 11:30 p.m. it's pretty well dead at 15%.

Yes. Precisely. I don't understand how nearly identically hardware (the biggest 2 differences being LTE radio & slightly larger screen in XTL) result in half the running time off the same battery.

But dude, the problem is not on XTL in general. I think your phone has some hardware problem. Was the battery life with the previous firmwares (4.0 and 4.1.2) as bad as the recent build?

It has been like that all the time. I realized something was wrong when people started posting significant battery life improvements in 4.3 ROMs and mine stayed the same.
Is the V battery life sufficient for you guys? I've always thought it's a little bit of a stretch if I used it even moderately - I use my V as a hotspot for my Galaxy Note 8 most of the day, and it can barely survive until the afternoon.
That's one of the reason I have been debating getting a Galaxy Note 3 for the extended battery life.
