UPDATED - v1.2 removes the double messages from some apps, fixes another bug.
I wanted a way to get other notifications to the Gear without having to run another client app on the Gear.
There is another project (ATN) that initially used the Email notification to do this. I liked this approach because it was simple, used the gear manager as the delivery mechanism, and the Email notification app on the gear which is robust enough to handle long notifications.
I reached out to Dattas Moonchaser, who wrote the popular Pebble Notifier to see if I could use his app as my base. He obliged so here it is....
Install this on your phone, there is nothing to install on the Gear. The only thing you need to know is to go into Accessibility settings and give Gear Getter permissions (it has a big RED link for this when you launch the app). Also make sure you have Email notification checked in the Gear Manager.
Here are some better instructions - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47449016&postcount=119
Once you enable Accessibility you are able to setup your apps you want to receive notifications from. Couple cool things..
- There is the ability to setup filters
- Ability to setup quiet times
- There is tasker integration (I haven't messed with this)
- This reads the data from the expanded view so you should get pretty robust notifcations
- Easy on the battery
If you feel the need to donate, please do it from the app, and it will go to Dattas who would appreciate it.

Quick question..
I did not install anything yet but I wanted to understand this. Do we install on both the gear and the phone ?
Where does it pull information from ?
I never used the app before, I just wanted some more info before I experiment with it.
And does it require 4.3 ?
Thanks
Can you read the notifications from the gear with this ?.

You only install it on the phone, there is nothing to install on the gear. It uses the built in Email notification on the gear to display the notifications.
You tell it which apps you want to receive notifications from on your gear.
This doesn't require 4.3, but the Gear Manager does (which this uses).

This send notifications from your phone (for the applications you select) to the gear, using the Email notification on the gear to display them.
Thanks, checking it out. I want to see if I can get Instagram notifications. I will report back.
So far so good! Gmail is sending full subject and body of emails! However, when you click "Show On Device" it launches the stock email client instead of gmail. It sounds like that's because it uses the email notification methods.

Great! The logic for getting the notification details is pretty battle tested so I would expect the content it sends to the gear to be pretty good and mostly match what you would see in an expanded notification on your phone.
The Show On Device I don't think I will get to be able to actually work to open the app on the phone....
Tried twice to install apk and it crashes my Note 3, it reboots on it's own and the apk is not installed .
Strange it doesn't do anything at my end.. I do not get any notifications. Could possibly show a short video of how it works??? Do I need to select the Email in Gear Manager .. Cause I aint getting any Noti's....

Yes, you need Email selected in Gear Manager for it to work
Mmmm ok like ATN was in the first place??

Under FilterList in the settings it states Pebble. FYI.
Ok, this does not work for me. Although it is probably because I running an S4 on 4.2 so far. Waiting for the update to be online.
I'll have to wait for the update to get me to 4.3 for the gear manager to work properly. I have limited functionality still
UPDATE : Well, email does not work, only get recipients name showing, but on the other hand, texting works (using sms pro)
But everything displays double, I mean I see the text and who is from and then under s separator I see it again with just a bit smaller fonts. Don't know why, maybe a setting I need to play with ?
I am glad at least for the texts for now.
Ok strange , after i boot into stock rom and then back to rom slot i installed .

LOL thanks, must have missed that one... It will work for the Gear even though it says Pebble.
I would like to point out that using this method if you use the stock browser it will talk to you and to the best of my knowledge there is no way to stop it.
Also last I knew if you were on a note 2 it will also talk when opening and closing folders and when switching home screens

Crazy! I use Chrome so didn't notice but you are right. More research shows its a bug with Samsung. I'll switch over to the 4.3 method using the security setting in the next few days. Until then I suggest using Chrome.
I just tried a KitKat GE rom on my i9505, To my surprise the gear paired up !
You need to make sure you have the relevant gear apks in /system/app.. although it did pair up fine..
I'll give more information on this shortly.. going to verify everything works as intended.
EDIT: To my surprise, the latest version of kitkat comes preloaded with the needed gear manager files.
All that is really needed is accuweather & gear manager and your set!
EDIT 2: In saying that, its no where near stable to be used as a daily driver, random reboots & wifi connectivity issues.
Although its nice to know its being incorporated.
Hmmm...I wonder what files it needs to make notifications work. I'm getting nothing on my Nexus5 even though it is set to send them

I've ticked things, but nothing seems to come through. Going to play around with it a bit more

Does Everything work? Contacts? dialer etc? Whats the problem with stability? Is it due to the 4.4 ROM you are using or with the gear mangaer? I got a real S4 GE edition and wourld love to have the Gear
For any one in the future going through what I did: YOU NEED THE STUPID " GearManagerStub.apk " for watch to work!!! OMFG what a waste of time to get this working!!!

I was able to get Gear Manager automatically installed on my i9505g as well using the NFC bump.
It seems none of the notifications work other than phone calls. I can't get Gmail or Hangouts to notify the GG. Have you had any luck with this? I was able to enable those notifications in Gear Manager, they just don't work.
Anyone tried it with the recent 4.2.2 update?

Strangely I'm having more trouble installing the Samsung App Store on the GPE rom than Gear Manager. It keeps coming back as app not installed.

Samsung GPE devices dont need this, they contain touchwiz frameworks..
As per the notifications working, I recently tried to get them working although did not have any luck doing so..
It seems not all the APK's are being installed, media controller provider APK is not installing.. I havnt figured out why !
Also it seems that the services gear manager uses are not starting, may be due to all the initial APK's not being installed I assume..
I believe if we can get all the APK's that gear manager initially installs completed successfully, it will trigger the services to start.
I received this update this morning which adds an Email app to the Gear but there is no info on how to set it up. There does not seem to be much buzz on the internet about this update either.
Does anyone know anything about this update?

here is the original thread

NA6 is stable and battery use is fine.Cannot complain.
using it with Gmanager v 1.6.132701
Not that I've heard. I am on V700XXUBML1.

hi ,
first of all don't think it is a bug on Rom NA6 ,( i have no such issue,using NA6 and Gmanager v 1.6.132701 )
This happenned, a few times to me in past and other forum members , on other Rom 's( and it was always the relevant Gear manager version )
I fixed this by staying on relevant Rom, but going back a version /or so, to Gear manager version , that works 100%
.i suggest to check/try other version of Gear manager( you can search Gear forum, all Gear manager version is posted here somewhere ).
Plse note ,best is to do a clean "reset " when installing and pairing Gear manager( on phone ) and Gear.( watch )
Usually it was the" notification tab" that was missing on Gear )
Only" bug" i found on this Rom NA 6 was if you sideload ,apps
,it will disappear from"" apps" on Gear watch ( but in reality apps are still present on Gear ) .
A reboot fixes it temporary , otherwise use "recent apps/tap and hold two finger on watch , to find sideloaded apps .
good luck

just a heads up.. if your gear is working perfectly, do not update. it's not worth with dealing new problems. no new functionality has been added, otherwise i'm sure they would be promoted.
Per @SamsungSupport (and I also verified), the Email app icon is only used to view the native email client's notifications. This sounds cool, except that our Gears already receive notifications for that, so not only is having the app icon redundant, the stock email notifications can no longer be deleted. In notifications, the little email icon will show like you had a notification, like Gmail, etc... except when you click on it, it says no notifications. I had to reset my Gear to remove the blank notification. (Tweetview, anyone? )It is not a stand alone email app that lets you see all of your emails, etc.

My sided loaded apps are no longer showing either. Is this because of the na6 and 1.6 combo? I tried to flash an earlier gear manager version, but it kept updating me to the latest one after I installed it.. Any thoughts?

It appeared after i tried to install the new version of Gear Manager (1.7.031004) from Galaxy S5.
Hi XDA
Recently i dropped my Galaxy S4, the AMOLED screen broke. Instead of ordering a new screen i got a LG G3 instead. I have the Galaxy Gear which i adore and would like to use it with my G3. Is this possible? I've been away from most recent developments in the community. I was running Null's rom.
I do plan to fix my S4 and get a replacement screen. Which place do you recommend me?

Here my guide:
1- uninstall gear manager with all related apks and reboot;
2- install this gear manager;
3- pair the watch with your phone and check that all works correctly;
4- uninstall goprovider and install this
5- re-enable the notication access in phone settings;
that's all.... i also installed this app that works very good and gave me some custom watchfaces...
With the above configuration i have a really good battery drain... always connected i lose about 1% - 2% max for all night.

I've rebooted phone and gear and notifications are working.
Tizen is working great but there are only few watch faces.
Is there any simple method to add phone styles
We all wish there was a way to answer the whatsapp from our gear 2, either by voice messages, some t9 (old-style) keyboard, text to speech ... or endless options Google technology Current presents. But the problem is that as I read whatsapp creators themselves have to give permission (if I remember correctly), or do themselves make this possible. So it occurs to me to do a bit of pressure and show that we are no longer enough and that this market of the wereables with tizen .... especially when they have brought the Gear s new one.

Yes.

Unfortunately, not with Tizen.
I flashed Android wear on to my gear 2 Neo via a method i found here on XDA
Now, I can read and reply to Whatsapps.
I would much rather be able to use the original software that came with the watch though, as some features dont work in Wear on the neo
