[Q] Need help beginner - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I have rooted my HTC one. I did install a custom rom using twrp Download Android 4.4 KitKat Sense 5.5 Stock ROM (odexed) for HTC One.
It said it succeeded but never booted into system. Maybe I didn't wait long enough. At that point I used twrp to restore my back up. The backup succeeded but my data service does not come on and the phone is rebooting over and over.
Should I factory reset? Can I? Should I install another rom? Need some help.

You probably flashed a GSM ROM. Only use ROMs which are made for sprint. The only 4.4 sense ROM for Sprint right now is ElipticOne.
To solve your problem check this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503646

Thanks I will look at the info. The thing is is I have a backup. Why is twrp not restoring a working backup? It created the backup from a working system. Not sure why it succeeds in restoring but gets stuck in a reboot cycle without a data connection. The wifi works as long as the phone is not rebooting. It works for about a minute before it reboots.

[Q] Software update not completing install

My HTC One is with Rogers and I had it rooted using the all in one toolkit. The last time it was running I was on the Nandroid backup as listed below which comes unrooted, but I rooted it with CWM recovery. .
Nandroid Backup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207874, in particular Rogers Nandroid Backup from Whampahoofus
(http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1857-m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-roger001-12963117/)
So tonight I decided to go and unroot and flash the stock recovery because there was an OTA update available but would not install due to custom recovery. I followed the same process which is restore the nandroid backup from Whampahoofus as it is by default unrooted, I restored my data from tonights nandroid backup, booted up fine and tested that I was able to use the phone as is. I then went ahead and flashed the stock recovery (which is below)
Stock Recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270552&page=3
Success, I now had stock recovery, and unrooted. I didn't relock my bootloader as I didnt feel it was necessary just to successfully install an OTA update. I went ahead and it did go through and download the OTA, it started to install the downloaded OTA and about a quarter of the way through the progress bar, it is still there. Going for the past >30 minutes now. I cant seem to reboot out of it or anything. Thankfully cause that would probably be a bad idea if it was still going.
Anyway, anyone experience this before or have suggestions?

Mine also hanged during update and required the "press power under bright light" trick. Then after reboot it hanged again (for 30-40 minutes) and i restarted it. After the second restart it rebooted successfully BUT the sdcard contents were still under /data/media instead of /data/media/0 so i rooted and moved the files manually from adb shell.
It is recommended to flash the original RUU... After that, you shouldn't face any issues during OTA... I did the similar process as you, but i was getting a red triangle on OTA update process....
I flashed RUU and everything went smoothly then.

Try sending a PM to LlabTooFeR, he might be able to help you out. I had a similar issue earlier this year with a HOS RUU.
Good luck.

[Q] Messed with My Sprint HTC One while adding Revolution HD 41.0

Hi,
Please help me as I tried to solve the problem with different ways and I totally messed my phone. I am very new to this.
I was running with benny's 4.3 version on my Sprint HTC One.
I downloaded Revolution HD 41.0 and used TWRP 2.6.3.0 after entering into recovery mode.
I had taken back before this. So, everything installed well. However, after reboot phone stuck on the boot screen.
I tried to find the answer. However, when I did not find it, I restored to my earlier backup.
After restoring I started facing reboot problem. So, I again tried ARHD 41.0, by wiping the data.
It again stuck on boot screen. I tried it again and again. And once formatted the device.
Later I read somewhere and copied rom again to phone by using ADB.
However, phone was getting stuck on boot screen. So , I tried to update TWRP to 2.6.3.3.
I used (twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img) to do the same. And now my phone is not even going in recovery mode, it just restarts as I think this was the wrong TWRP version.
I cannot think any thing now. Please help. This is my new phone.
Please ask if any details required. I do not know what details to add.
Thanks in advance...
ARHD no longer supports GSM. You have to follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503646

Last I knew, 41 wasn't running on Sprint ... only up to 31.6. Same with TWRP 2.6.3.3 .
I think Ecliptic is the only Sense based Kit Kat ROM for now

Has anyone got AdAway to work?

Everytime I run AdAway it hang on the applying host file and most of the time will reboot the phone. Running stock rom with captain throwbacks unsecured boot. I have also tried flashing a symlink in recovery which flashes fine and then change adaway setting to the new location. It still locks up the phone. I'm now s-off & even after symlink and changed location or default location it still locks the phone. I have also tried the 2.8.1 unofficial version on xda also hang on the phone. I don't know what else to try at this point.
I'm using it on mine. Works fine after s-off
I'm on stock rom that's rooted. Not sure what is up with yours.
My adaway version is 2.3
If you are not s off the system write protection will not let u modify the system

Before I s-off I did flash Unsecured boot.img and applied this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51560297&postcount=20
Maybe that has something to do with it.
So now that I'm s-off can I just restore my nandroid of stock rom and try it again? Bloat kept reinstalling itself before I applied the boot.img & patch.

Yup. Shouldn't have any issue if you nandroid back if you've got s-off. Make sure you restore everything.

I will prob just do a clean install of badseed instead of restore stock backup. Are you using badseed? Was gonna wait a while to flash it but I'm not really a fan of stock either and I was reading badseed has some bugs in it such as not being able to sign into google account.
I am having the same issue on BadSeed 1.2 with S OFF

I might have to hold off if you are having the same issue. It always worked find on my m7. I wonder why it works for some and not others?

no I'm on stock ROM. There isn't a ROM yet worth flashing over to. The stock ROM is pretty great IMO.

Yea I was going to wait a while before switching from stock. So now that I have s-off if I restore my nandroid backup will I still need to reflash a new boot image or apply a kernal patch or if I uninstall bloat will it make it past a reboot?

[Q] Switching from AOSP ROM (CM11) to Sense 6.0 based ROM

I'm using an HTC One (m7) and I'd like to move from CM11 nightlies to this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502430). I've read somewhere before that there were preliminary steps I need to follow before going from AOSP back to Sense. I've tried to move to a ViperROM before and somehow ended up wiping all data (even recovery) from my phone. I'd like to prevent that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I would suggest searching YouTube for QB King77
He has posted many videos that I have personally used to do things like gain s-off, relock boot loader, flash factory RUU back to stock and then the unlock via HTC dev site with links to all you would need. All you need with his videos is a little patience, they are on the money..
Best of luck and DONT WIPE INTERNAL STORAGE, no matter what.

All you need to do is wipe in recovery , and flash the new Rom .
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
Unfortunately I tried to switch the ROM and lost everything...again. I backed up my previous ROM first, but the install completely wiped out my recovery...again. It said the installation was successful. I did everything I feel I should have done. After the install it asked to reboot. When it rebooted, it went into fastboot and I no longer have access to anything but the bootloader. This has happened before so I know how to fix it now, but it's really annoying not knowing what exactly is happening on my phone.

[Q] Rooted/s-on. Can I update anything.

Can I install stock recovery and then try to take a ota to update. Will I loose root and will I loose my rom? Will I be able to reinstall a rom or will I need to reroot?
you can try, you shouldn't loose root or anything but once you have unlocked and flashed stuff I doubt stock recovery will like your system enough to take the update. try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53518227
HOW Change ...... ???

From my understanding, as long as /system is stock, you can install the stock recovery and then take the OTA. Afterwards, you'll need to re-root your phone. Make a backup of your current setup before you get started. Once you've taken the update and get rooted again, you can always restore your backup.

I will give it a try this weekend and let you know how it goes.
Edit does not work but thanks for helping me.
Must be the fact that I am s on. We need that s off before we can do anything as far as updating
This one is tricky. I flashed the stock rooted rom from mikmik, I then unrooted and flashed the stock recovery via fast boot. When applying the Ota, it fails because the build.prop is not stock. Comes back with an error like /system/build.prop unexpected.

I just tried it to and did the same exact thing except I had boot loops as we'll.
when I flashed back to the stock recovery to take the recent OTA, I had a reboot bootloop like every 2-3 minutes, I was ready to throw the phone against a wall, then it hit that I read recently someone else had the same issue, and mentioned a factory reset fixing the issue, yup after a factory reset, the reboot bootloop was gone, I just now rerooted and flashed a backup

yes, I was able to take the latest OTA, and no, it did not help with my signal at all, my device didn't drop calls or anything, but it has a hard time latching onto lte at times before and after the OTA.......

this might be a really stupid question (and my first post no less), but does performing a factory reset take me back to stock, unrooted form?
currently i am rooted with S-on, TWRP and Chainfire SU.
i followed a youtube video to root and im basically clueless with regards to doing anything more.
thanks in advance.

Hey everyone.
I've spent the better of the last three hour scouring the inter webs, Google, and these forums trying to find the answers to my questions - but to no avail (I've found partial answers, but I am afraid a partial answer could lead to a total brick).
Here we go:
I bought one of the first Sprint HTC One M8's through Amazon. Here are the details:
Model: 831C
Android Version 4.4.2
Software Version 1.12.651.17
Unlocked but S-On (Using TWRP)
Naturally, right out of the box I rooted it. However, I did not save the original ROM.
* I want to restore the phone to its original state so I can accept the OTA update and hopefully address the god-awful cell signal.
I've found a lot of stock recoveries online, but none that match 1.12.651.17.
Do I need to find that specific recovery to flash to my phone? Will another one work (e.g. 1.54.654.13)?
I've never worried about saving my stock recovery in the past (been rooting since the HTC Evo days) but it looks like not doing so finally caught up with me.
Thanks in advance.
PS I did find something 1.12.651.17 related here, but how to flash this to my phone (or whether or not it will brick) is beyond me. I've downloaded all 6 files and am waiting to figure out how the heck to get them to my phone.
