left my Tf701t plugged in via usb for a while, I went to unplug the usb and realised the back right hand side around the speaker was very hot. I didn't really take much notice but when I switched the tablet on, the speaker was producing a very muffled, low quality sound, has anyone else had this problem and can anyone help?
No sir, I left it charge over night with the outlet and didn't have issue

Mines very good.
Edit. Actually I was just play asphalt and it did get quite warm. But I am impressed with it. Sound is good. Hopefully no problems
Sent from my K00C using Tapatalk
Is the heat being generated by the sound maybe? I turned mine off and haven't had any heat since. Just slightly warm. I could be wrong. I leave mine plugged in like the tf101. Never any probs
it seems fine when I leave it plugged in through an electrical outlet, just problems over USB, haven't had it plugged in over USB since I rooted and ROMed it but still no improvements with the sound, I listen through headphones usually now, but it would still be nice to have the built in speaker restored to the original quality

Is anyone else getting a lot of background buzzing noise when playing music while charging with the Verizon car charger?
It's horrible on my Bionic.
It's so loud that I cannot charge the device if I want to listen to music, a podcast, or use navigation.
Fortunately, using a generic usb lighter plug and usb cable produces much much less buzzing.
Do I have a defective car charger?
Yeah I have the same problem with my charger and using my bionic for sound. It is terrible.
Ive experienced the same issue with the cheap car charger. I was blaming my cheapo car charger as well....
So its the BIONIC thats effing it up....
Turn off 4G.
I noticed this a lot on my HTC Droid Incredible, but have not had the issue with my Bionic, even while connected to 4G.
I'll try that

Thanks.
I will try that on the ride home from work tonight.
It kind of cripples the functionality of the phone though.
I can tell you that I have a headunitless install (phone plugged into amp) in my car with google music being my only source of music and I have zero issue with unwanted noise.

FYI: I turned off the 4g and plugged in the Verizon car charger. It went from very loud noise to just loud noise.

This thread is about using the Verizon car charger. I am not sure why you posted this here.
I've had this problem with every phone lol its the car charger, almost makes me feel like I have turbo cause it gets higher pitch the harder I push the gas pedal

Update: i exchanged the verizon car charger at the Verizon store. This charger works fine. It does not cause the bionic to make noise at all. The buzzing is gone.

I use a Motorola OEM charger I got from amazon and it has no noise
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
I assume you that are experiencing noise are connecting from the headphone jack to your stereo. If the charger or stereo input is not properly designed this will cause a ground loop and you will get noise.

I think you'll find that is alternator whine getting into the electrical system. A filter should clean that up. The problem is something radio amatuers have to deal with all the time. No big deal to install.
I have the same issue with my phones and my iPod to the AUX In on both my Saab 9-3...
I had used an older version of -> http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062214 in line with the 1/8" stereo cable to get rid of it...
When mom gave me their GMC Terrain, I had to get one for it too. The Radio Shack guy looked at me like I was nuts when I asked for it, asked why I needed it, I explained, he said "that wont work"... well, he's wrong
This is the one you want:
http://www.amazon.com/GROUND-LOOP-I...QTRI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1317081503&sr=8-2
Cleared everything up in my Mazda beautifully.
I've had zero noise issues with my OG Droid car charger, but I'm keeping the new one that came w/ the Costco bundle (also a Motorola branded charger) handy in case the old unit dies after 2+ years
Anyone else dealing with this? It was so loud when I went to sleep last night I had to get back up and hunt the room to find the source.
It's the wall charger. It buzzes when plugged into the wall, with or without the USB cable attached, but only without the phone ALSO attached and charging.
I come from a Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus and neither of those had this issue (nor any other wall charger for the myriad of electronic devices I've owned).
I'm not gonna reach around under the desk to unplug the adapter from the wall each time I'm done using it with the phone.
My usage scenario is probably really common in that I leave it and the USB cable plugged in, with the phone end of hte USB sitting on my desk. Plug the phone in to charge, otherwise phone is elsewhere. So, more often than not there is no phone plugged in, and it's thus buzzing.
Of course, Google can't or won't just send a replacement charger - they want to do a complete warranty return of the phone and everything. Such a major hassle for a small simple piece.
Does anyone know if the LG Optimus G has the same charger? I'm tempted to go to some local cell shop and try some other of the same charger to see if the problem is beyond my particular unit.
Happens to me too. As long as it charges I'm going to keep using it. If it goes I have a couple backups. I wouldn't return the phone though. Just pick up an after market charger and you should be fine.

Having the same issue, really annoying. There seem to be many faulty units...
But I fear they won't just replace them for free, because they are working well, just with this annoying noise. :S
IMO its just a charger. My phone is fine so if I have to use another I will. Walmart has some for like 10 or 12 bucks. But your right, charger shouldnt be faulty with that annoying buzzing sound.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Mine does the same and its only when the phone is unplugged from it. It takes a little while to build up the buzz. Its like they used a low budget capacitor or something. Who knows..
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Same here, doesn't do it when the phone is plugged in so I don't really care. You can only hear it if you are right beside it.
Have the exact same issue with my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 charger...
This is the 3rd nexus I've had due to various faulty reasons and all 3 have had the buzzing in the earpiece and an even louder annoying as hell buzz in the wall charger. The last 2 also have the rattle while the first didn't but I don't care anymore I still love this phone and will live with the annoyance. I don't really hear the earpiece buzzing unless it's silent in the room
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Mine doesn't buzz, but squeals at a high pitch (15+KHz). It's not a constant tone, but warbles up and down in volume making it almost impossible to ignore. Swapped to the charger for an old iPhone one I had lying around. It only has a 1A rather than a 1.2A output, so it'll charge a little slower, but it's worth it to avoid the racket.
I am having the same issue is yours charging really slow some time I left mine overnight and it was around 25 :banghead:

Having the same issue as well with my charger. Very annoying. After I unplug it from the wall it still buzzes for about 30 seconds then stops.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Buzzing is just a capacitor inside charger.
When there is nothing connected capacitor is getting current, but with phone connected current goes to your phone.
Buzzing last even after charger unplugged because capacitor is like a temporary storage and gets discharged in few seconds.
Capacitors prevent power fluctuations, and help prevent ditect damage to device if there are fluctuations in power supply board.
Nothing to worry about it, many industries use capacitors to maintain their power factor (voltage/current) ratio.

Yep, experiencing this problem too. Personally, it's really annoying for me, the charger is just 30-40 cm away from my head when I'm sleeping.
I wonder if I could use another charger, I've one with OUTPUT of 5.0V and 700mA, that should be fine right?

Who's worried about it? It's annoying and obnoxious.
Person above: any USB charger is fine. The higher the possible current, the faster the charge (to a point, the phone will only ask up to a certain amount)
Yeh I have this on my UK charger.
It is recommended to unplug/switch off at the wall anyhow as a charger will be using power even when not connected to the phone.

An ancient 'wall-wart' transformer PSU maybe, but a modern switch-mode PSU will be using a handful of milli-Watts at most when idle. Not really worth unplugging to save power: home electricity is measured in units of 1kWh; at 10mW, you'd have to leave the charger plugged in for over 11 years to use 1 unit.
mine buzzes very loud too. both my nexus s chargers also buzz but not as loud as the LG one.

All the phone chargers iv used have got pretty warm when I've accidentally left them plugged in with no phone. They are using power so it just seems common sense to unplug (or switch off at the wall, which is what I do in the uk).
I'm not sure where you got your numbers but a quick Google found these :
the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, who measured several devices in each category, a cell-phone charger draws an average of 3.68 watts when the phone is on and charging; 2.24 watts when it is on and charged; and 0.26 watts when it is just hanging out in the socket

I have the same problem with my Nexus 4 charger. Decided to use my Sony Ericsson Xperia charger instead.
This problem still annoys the hell out of me because my charger is next to my bed and I can hear it all night if I don't have my phone plugged in.

So am rocking my One and really enjoying everybit of it. I got my official car dock and set it up, but 20 mins into connecting my One, it becomes really hot am scared it will explode. I even repositioned the dock inline with my airconditioner vent but it still heats, when I use the device without the dock all is well with my BT hands-free. Has anyone experience this or is it just my device?

probably the car charger outputs more power than what is needed causing overheating i would try with another car to see if that happens again

I just got my HTC D160 Car Dock yesterday and a similar issue. First off, I was running ARHD 7.3 and Bulletproof 1.7 kernel at the time. I drive a Ford Fusion and am plugging into the same AC port that I used with my HOX. I just wanted to set the stage. Anyway while having the phone docked in car mode I was running TomTom. From time to time I was switching over to a messaging program to send a few messages. After about a half hour I noticed my LED light was flashing red. I continued using my GPS app but stopped messaging. Soon the light went back to a solid charging red light. When I removed my phone it wasn't hot to the touch but I'll keep an eye on it though. At this point I'm not really worried plus I shouldn't be messaging while sitting at a light with my phone in dock anyway :silly:
When I plug my headphones into the headphone jack, my phone goes berzerk. A track will be playing and then randomly switches, forwards to next track, etc and my dialer will pop up and start dialing random numbers (or maybe the last number I dialed) without me even touching the screen. If my phone is locked, the emergency dialer will pop up. It's like it has a mind of its own.
Anyone have any idea of what's going on? Maybe it's shorted somewhere?
Download headset blocker from the Play Store. That should fix your problem.

I'm using the HTC headphones that come packaged with the phone. In fact, I've been going through replacement phones (because of the build quality) and my first phone didn't have this issue with the same exact headphones. I decided to switch out the htc headphones from a different box and my phone still goes crazy. I want to say it's a defective headphone jack just because of that.

Mine did this also, it's the button on the headphones. It's extremely sensitive. I was cutting grass and it began switching songs quickly. Got my wife's headphones and it quit.
