hello all,
new to the XSP here, from my dead atrix.
1 quick question: Would i be right in assuming that i can use doomkernel in conjunction with any of the stock based roms? i see that you need a stock rom to flash it, and that it doesn't state that it's meant for CM roms only. I am planning to use doomkernel v4 with honami ultraized if it makes any difference
thanks in advance

I'd say Froyobread v23b.
Any Froyo Rom , FroyoPro or Froyobread , takes full advantage of stock kernel.
I would use doomkernel or nk kernel with a rom , but i don't know which roms support these kernel. Thank you.

Any rom based on stock
Be careful with compatibilities... or you will get bootloops.

No, omnirom is a custom rom with its own kernel.
Every rom you find in original development section is NOT from Sony.
To use Doomkernel you must use a rom from normal development section, where you can find roms BASED on original Sony firmware. For example ultimate pureXT...

Pardon me it's doomlord's advance stock kernel, mistyped it.
Are you on unlocked bootloader? If yes then only flash the kernel or else you will brick the phone

I have locked bootloader but I plan to unlock it, this is why I inquire about the compatibility of the Kernel with a custom ROM.
(I want install DooMKernel with Cyanogenmod or else.)

If you are going to use it on unlock bootloader then use the DOOMkernel for Xperia SP.
Unlocked bootloader supports various features and tweaks on doomkernel, skip the doomlord's advance stock kernel flash

You can install custom ROM on your stock kernel too as long as bootloader is unlocked.
Unlocked bootloader opens access to more ROM's and can help in flashing Kernels.

I don't think so, it's 4.12. Either you stick with stock based 2.5, or you go to KK.

Hello mate.
1) On the title you are say that you want to install custom roms for unlocked bootloader, so i suppose you are talking about roms like cm11 etc.
In this case you don't have to root your device because unlocking your bootloader and so flashing a new kernel and that kind of roms most of the times are pre-rooted.
2) You can access the recovery mode by using the UP volume key.
Some custom kernels, such as the one from DooMLorD have integrated 3 recoveries, so you can use the Volume UP key, the Volume Down key and the Camera button. Different buttons have access to different kind of recoveries.
3) You have to try and see the rom that suits you more. Some users prefer cm, other stock roms etc. The only solution for you is to try and find the one you like more.
4) Last but not least ----> Don't flash kernels from other devices to your phone. Only if the kernel is developed for the Xperia V you can use it.
Kernels are device and firmware specific.
You can't install a kernel from the Xperia T to the Xperia V and you can' t install a kernel made for JB 4.1.2 to JB 4.3
Hope these tips can give you a hand

It is usually the best for those who do not wish to experiment, and it's like a big box of pralines with 3 or 4 pieces inside we really like.

Hi,
im new xperia Z1 C6903 user.
I had previously samsung phones
I use archikitchen to make rooted/busyboxed/deodex rom ( using cache.img , boot.img , system.img.ext4 from stock firmware)
I want to make my custom rom for C6903 ( not deodex patch) and i have some question to developer's:
1.How to deodex stock firmawre (*.ftf) ?
2.Why xperia custom rom's don't flash kernel in installer script ? ( only to make choose for users with L/U bootloader? )
3.And what i need to know to make fully working custom rom for xperia z1 device ( generally what are the differences in creating rom compared to for example S4 phones)
thank's for your all support :good:

1. If you can hack FTF with still using Sony signature, you are genius
For this, you cannot deodex stock firmware in FTF
2. Because Xperia implement Locked bootloader, not like Samsung
Of course, this is for security reason
And I dunno, even with stock kernel I'm still using flash kernel via flashtool, I never try to using .zip for flashing kernel even I'm want to flash stock kernel
3. You must know what device you're using, and many part of system also kernel
If you can understand them all, you can make a rom like what you want
In general, custom rom for Xperia and Samsung almost same, but different signature and configuration make them different
And from your question, you still learning how to use Xperia, so take the long trip slowly
=)
And for deodexed, you must still using deodex patch, it's same with what you doing with your Samsung phone, but only using another way
=)
Search for @[NUT]s diy guide to make a rooted flashable rom for all Xperia devices. It's in the cross device development section
