On one of my Z1's the latest update wiped my data. It didn't happen in the last few updates. Any way to prevent PCC from wiping data?

Backup data, I think no way to prevent it

To prevent losing data I think the only way is to use Flashtool and exclude Wipe Data so you data will be not wipped.
I know what you mean, i forgot to read the part where it said that the phone would be wiped after update
You should have seen my WTF! face when the phone turned back on
Learned the hard way

Can any anti theft app.. protect my phone/data?
I believe, it cant..
Every person can enter the recovery mode and wipe the phone to factory reset.. and thereby uninstalling all ur apps/app data(if u installed anti theft app in system partition)
So y even consider buying/installing those apps?

Just have some sort of screenlock. A password, pincode or patern.. Even when wiping data it will be blocked.
Wiping data to factory settings will wipe off ur screen locks..

Use Avast Anti Theft.
At the moment the best anti theft app. You can control your whole phone via sms without the Thief recognizeses it.
If you have SU you can install it in I think the system partition, so the app survives a Wipe.

Hi,
i just installed LBE privacy guard (on stock 434 FW rooted, unlocked BL). Unfortunately that app decided to go haywire on my phone, sending it into a boot loop.
Stupid enough i didn't make a backup before installing that thing (why would anyone?).
Is there any way to get this thing off the device without razing it completely? I can access TWRP and flash/fastboot.
Use flashtool to reflash a stock 434 ftf. Just don't wipe /data and you shouldn't lose any of your settings/apps. You will have to root again though.

I tried that, reflashing the FTF, however the app was still there and it was still autostarting. But in TWRP i found the advanced>file manager and removed the .apk (good that i had TWRP flashed).

Oh well. Glad you got it sorted.
Just FYI, everywhere I've seen LBE Privacy Guard mentioned there are people complaining that it causes reboot loops on Jelly Bean roms just like you experienced, so I'd give it a miss in future.

Here on XDA there is a translated LBE Security Master. It has some useless stuff but it has still that privacy control.

I had the same problem. delete the apk in the internal memory. look to where you find them. then it boots normally again.
My problem was solved.

When it's at 6% or when it reboots, can you identify which app is being restored?
Ever since updating to 4.3 from stock 4.2 via pc companion the settings where the different surround modes reside can't be accessed from either google play or the Walkman app. Any suggestions?

Not that I am aware of. You can back up most of your settings with PC companion and restore those after the reset.

yes. factory reset will erase all your data in internal. But you can save your data in SD card or use PC companion to backup your files or data. Then do a fresh update via PC companion. it will solve your problem.

What I did was, backed up everything using Backup and Restore app in device (most of them forgets this little app) and did a factory reset. It won't wipe the internal storage unless you check the option to format it. So after reset, restore data from B&R app. Plain and Simple

I know it sucks, I had to do the same thing, wasn't fun. AFAIK, this is the only way to solve that particular issue.
Clearing data for Sound Enhancements works.
If the button is greyed out use Titanium Backup.

Hello, i have a little problem here. Everytime i reboot my phone the setting in Display about image quality boost (X-reality) deactivates itselt without a reason.
I had root before but i flashed again the .77 firmware without wipes. Problem is still here, is there any solution than wipe everything?

the firmware must be repaired so you need to wipe and reinstall fresh firmware to repair system features

If you have a backup goto recovery an wipe only system partition. Then go to advanced restore->sytem and restore this system partition. In this case you dont touch you personal data.
If you have no backup you have to do a complete new installation like geeks emire said before.

I reverted back to firmware .77 without recovery and root so no backup. However i found out just now that stamina mode does this and it's not bugged.
Thank you through for the suggestions
You are welcome
