I had big problems with latest update, whole thing can be read here.
So I did consider all links in that thread what I need to do, and honestly I am a bit afraid, right now on my fastboot menu stands this:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-4A.21.3263.04
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-3.62.401.1
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Oct 17 2013,23:06:14.1375
...and all other is stock, didn't update anything although phone is asking for update.
So what I need to do now is next as far I understand from all those posts:
- Install custom recovery to my phone, namely TWRP (because CWM can make problems)
- Then I need from recovery to install SuperSU
- Then I need to disable all possible things on my PC (FW, AV etc)
- Connect my phone to PC in standard mode
- Run soju.exe in admin mode and wait till it finishes it (now my phone should be S-Off)
Now this is tricky part for me (I didn't understand the thing with Tampered flag and lock state very well)
- Now I need to install stock rom back to my phone, and it is good to do it with this image, will I have touch screen after installing this?
- Go to OS and do factory reset
- Now, as far I understand I need to run TWRP not install, but just to run it so the phone stays in original state
- While in TWRP I clean cache and run script for removing Tampered flag and to lock bootloader
When all this finished I just need to clean cache and that's it?
Since I didn't install TWRP I'll have original recovery... Also, there they mention that SuperSU needs to be removed, but I don't have it if I follow steps that I wrote here!?
Is this correct procedure? I don't want to mess a lot around my phone...
The S-Off flag I saw can be locked from within fastboot so that I can do whenever I want
Cheers...
This worked for me

After you unlock your device you most downgrade to hboot 1.44
If you’re on hboot which is above 1.44, then first thing is to downgrade that:
so download this: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/1-29-401-12_hboot_1-44-zip/
in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, flash it:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 1.29.401.12_hboot_1.44.zip
fastboot flash zip 1.29.401.12_hboot_1.44.zip <---- just in case the above said “failed flush again”
fastboot reboot-bootloader
--> and confirm hboot is now 1.44
Good luck!

it'll take a bit more than 10mins, between download (depends on your connection), flashing (5~10mins), booting (another 5~10mins)
and if you untampering too, that takes another few seconds

I was looking for zip, exe and nandroid all together, a bit rushing there... then I sit down and read once more through tutorial, and see that only one of those is in fact needed.
Just one question more, regarding hboot, there is 1.44 version from 1.29.401.12, does it matter that my RUU.exe is 1.28.401.7?
Cheers...

Im pretty sure you cannot boot into a custom recovery with S-ON
To remove the TAMPERED and LOCK the bootloader, you will have to S-OFF using rumrunner for hboot 1.5x or revone for hboot 1.44
The current Rumrunner can work with a custom rom e.g. the latest version of ARHD or Insertcoin ROM that has an unsecure kernel. To do this though you will have to unlock the bootloader using htcdev and install the custom rom and then S-OFF

Yeah you cant boot .img files any more with s-on or s-off htc removed it in the now HBOOT and fastboot.
Dont panic mate its really easy to fix
Simply download ARHD from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023 make sure you have all the latest drivers and everything installed and rename the file to rom.zip you will need TWRP for this i believe and simply boot to recovery (TWRP) and push thw file to your sdcard using adb push rom.zip /sdcard (takes a while) simply flash arhd rom.
Once your phone boots you can use rumrunner.us to s-off the phone. Follow the instructions on their site. Once thats done boot to fastboot and use the command fastboot oem writecid 11111111 you will now have supercid and you can now flash any ruu you like. (unless you need to downgrade hboot.) If thats the case pm me and i can guide you through it on here.

I used to use ARHD but I switched to maximus HD because of the OTA and the 360 camera mod.
So to upgrade firmware you want to boot into fastboot and type "fastboot getvar mid" write it down then go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485651 and download the correct version against your mid.
Put it in your adb/fastboot folders and making sure your still in fastboot type "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
Once you phone boots into update mode you will see a HTC logo on your screen and nothing else.
Rename the firmware you just downloaded to firmware.zip and type "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip"
It will say say failed pre hboot update flush image again. Simply type the exact same cmd again "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip" and it will flash the latest firmware.
The progress bar on your phone probably won't go all the way up but as long as cmd says finished its done so just type "fastboot reboot-bootloader" and if you look your main-os will have changed.
That's it.
Your on the latest firmware meaning all the Roms should run smoothly and you should have no more issues with exposed.

Everything done, thanks for your help!

Yeah afraid so. Tbf I don't know of that is the case for every phone but the m7_ul UK edition couldn't get it to work on any device I tried after contacting a friend who I have inside HTC's repair centre he claimed the feature does not work with the latest hboot.
I might see if I can get some other devices from work to test this further and if it is true for all variants then maybe enroll on a workaround

If No you don't care about s-off, just flash this RUU

If you do want s-off you should use this RUU to get your phone working and start over from scratch and use Rumrunner to S-off

so actually I ended up going through with the first option of leaving S-on and doing the RUU but I started it and my phone has this new looking htc logo on the screen but on my computer its been at 5% for like 15 minutes now and it says (1/5 checking header) does it normally take this long or should I restart?
ok so I've been searching for the correct RUU for my phone for some time now and have gone through 3 without any of them working. It always gets stuck "5% checking headers." Can somone please give me the correct RUU for me to install and maybe some directions on installing it, i might be doing it wrong. I relocked my bootloader and S is on. I have T mobile US.

I would recommend you get s-off now with rumrunner before you up the hboot to 1.56 / 1.57 and have to pay for it
Why do you want to RUU is your phone broken ? or do you just want to update it ?

follow instructions from rumrunner thread, you don't need s-off to flash what he said but if you want to have it, better to do it now because once updated you'll have to use sunshine s-off and it cost 25$. Rumrunner is free.
yes
Hey, I was stupid and missed up my phone. I wanted to update my phone, but because It was rooded I wasn't able to do it. So I decided to begin from start. So I downgraded my Hboot to 1.44 and also stupid to set s-on again. But then I could not install the stock rom 1.29.651.10. So I decided to try a custom rom. So I would be able to set s-off again. But non of them worked. I think that the old Hboot 1.44 is why the roms didn't work. But I can't change my Hboot before my device is s-off.
I'm able to use adb sideload and twrp recovery

Does any one have any suggestions ?
If I remember right, the older s-off techniques like rumrunner should still work with that hboot. I'd look into those first.

I've have already tried rumrunner, but it didn't work for me. I was able to get Viberone 8 to work, but it was very slow. Tried to get s-off but did't work with the Viberone rom. So now i'm trying another one to see if it will allow me to get the phone s-off. But thx for your respond

While booted to fastbootusb open a cmd window (from your platform tools folder) and type:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
Then copy and paste the results here...make sure you remove your IMEI from the results.

Thx it worked for me. First I replaced the TWRP recovery with the stock recovery 1.29.651.10. After that I relocked my bootloader "fastboot oem lock" and the device rebooted. I used the 1.29.651.10 RUU exe. and it worked. So thank you, have a nice day

Either 7.21.707.105 or 7.21.707.121 will work. Check the sticky threads in the general section, You'll find a ruu collection thread with files + instructions.

as i searched on internet , there is a need of S-OFF to flash RUU file.
but there is S-ON on my htc one.
& i dont know how to make it S-OFF.
Please guide me for the same.
my bootloader is unlocked, but when i tried to put rom from "adb sideload abcs.zip" it show cannot read sideload.
and when i tried to select the rom from sdcard(internal storage) then it was at the end as set_metadata_changes_failed
i think this is due to S_ON.
please guide me to make it S-OFF

You don't need s-off to flash a RUU, read the instructions of the RUU collection thread. S-OFF is only needed when you want to use a RUU to downgrade your phone or to convert to another carrier version. If flashing the same or newer version like 7.21.707.105 or 7.21.707.121, you don't need s-off.

With s-on, you must re-lock the bootloader to flash a ruu, like said in the instructions.

Are you taking about the RUU here? Or another rom you did not mentioned before? If you are talking about the RUU, it can't be flashed using a recovery, only using fastboot (read the instructions). If you are talking about a custom rom then it smost likely because you are using an outdated adb version or an outdated recovery version or a combination of both.
