delete it using Root Explorer. its in /system/app/. you can probably delete it with Titanium Backup too. Astro doesnt have root permissions.

If Titanium Backup doesn't remove it for you try Super Manager with root access enabled it its settings menu
Latest gmail 2.3.2 apk
Just place onto your sdcard and then install.
Works fine on a Samsung Galaxy S i9000
Yes. it is very simple. And I find this always works:
Install the new version, if it fails, reboot the phone or restart the Java VM. Do the install again. Done.
I have the same problem with the last apk of Gmail and with Launcher Pro Plus.
I have solved both in the same way, deleting the original with SUBFS or another root explorer.
i have the same problem.
then,i take a gmail APP form CM 6.1 to install...
i'll done~
try it!
guess this is still for 2.2 only? i've seen various threads on other forums claiming there's a 2.1 version goin around and im not sure if it's modded or not
Is there any way to get old market (2.x.x) back on CM 7?
Not sure if it works on CM 7, but normally just go to manage apps, find the market/market updater and select uninstall updates. Then disable the market updater
^^^ works on superOSR which is cm7 based

If the uninstall method doesn't work, you could look for the *.apk of the old market and install it.
@nwsk
thx i was also lookiing how can disable the updater because the new market its too slow
You can delete it from system/app using root explorer (or similar), or freeze it using titanium backup.

So I wanted to get some updates for my apps so I went back to 213 and I still don't see drop box etc and when I search for apps I have installed currently of says they aren't compatible. What do I need to modify to fix?

Try clearing your play store data.

No dice

I was able to get compatibility back after clearing market data and re flashing gapps. I also found out anything but 160 causes that same problem, but 160 works fine.
Try a reboot? Wipe cache, force close the app, and delete app data for the play store. It's really fickle truthfully. I ended up having to flash mine back to stock and use titanium backup to fix everything. If you have a nandroid backup pre-DPI change that should work as well.
Edit: nevermind! Glad you figured it out!

I just had this problem, but I figured out how to fix it...
1. Go to Settings>Apps>Google Play Store and "uninstall updates" and it will say something about installing the original system app...
2. Open the original play store and accept the terms and conditions. (Apps still not working at this point)
3. Download the latest update from somewhere.
4. Install and done...
Your play store should work properly now...
So I'm still on stock HD and I've already rooted and installed gaps etc. But there are a couple of apks I would like to install that can't be obtained by the play store. I can download them but everytime I try to install them I am told the install is blocked because the apk wasn't obtained from the nook store. Anybody get around this yet?

You are trying to install with the Nook apps, like the browser and my files. Those are still blocked. You must install using a third party file manager like the one I put on the Universal Root. Or download one from Play Store.

I tried using the file manager included in your extras zip as well as astro but everytime I select an apk file it pops up saying it's blocked.

You may need to flash my unknown sources zip. That was in the gapps zip, but maybe you flashed it too early in the process. You need to have registered for that mod to work. Anyway do it again.

umm did you install it as a normal apk?... I think it is your problem, so using Root explorer or whatever you want put phonesky.apk (googleplay.apk) in system/app/ and set the correct permissions and reboot
Do not uninstall the stock play store app provided in any rom. If you wanna update it, just install the latest apk as an update to the existing older version. If you remove the older version using titanium backup, root explorer, etc., you are bound to get force closes. Donno why. Uninstall the existing play store. Try to flash the latest gapps and then install the latest play store. If that doesn't help, reflash the rom.
