How much does a replacement HTC One cost? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Tried rooting my phone, have never done it before (really stupid on my part) and now I can't even get into the phone, all I can do is access a recovery mode and a TWRP mode whatever that is. Looked up how to unroot it but my Mac doesn't even recognize my phone so it's pointless. Anyways, how much does it cost to replace a "broken" HTC One? Is it the price of an unlocked one or what? I'm currently on year 1 of my 3 year plan..

try following this guide and ask there in the comments if you have a problem... your problem is easy fixed! no need to worry about buying a replacement...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632736
edit:
TWRP and recovery is the same mode.. actually TWRP is a special kind of recovery... it's a custom one with WAY more options than a stock one...
edit_2:
saw that you have a mac... I don't know how to troubleshoot the connection there... do you have a mate with a windows ? you really need windows so that i can help you..
If you have one here are the instruction on how to install fastboot and adb on a windows:

Well I've done the installation of fastboot and adb on my Mac (found a guide for it) but there's a step in the guide that requires my Mac to recognize my phone. It doesn't because I don't think "usb debugging" is on. No idea how to do that.

yeah this is bootloader... now you selected fastboot... press the powerbutton...
After you did it... plug your phone in to your mac...
There should be written FASTBOOT USB with red color behind...
if that's the case... try
Code:

and hope your device gets recognized
edit: a punched thanks button would be highly appreciated

I don't know if htc sync works for Mac.. but if it does install it... there are the drivers included...
otherwise... sorry... you need a windows... I did a research but didn't find any appropriate drivers.. Sorry... there is no other option than using a windows... maybe try uninstalling the drivers manually (if that works on mac) and plug in your phone again and let's see if the drivers get installed automatically...

revolutionary stuck on "Waiting for device"

I currently have hboot 1.13
When i type "Fastboot devices" It comes up with my phone connected, just revolutionary won't pick it up.
Help please?
Thanks
Here's a good place to start.
You probably have HTC Sync installed. Uninstall it and instal only drivers from Revolutionary documentation page.
You really think I haven't googled it before making a thread?
Also I don't have htc sync installed.
Uninstall all which is connected to HTC and their drivers, reboot your PC, install drivers pack, try different USB hub. If all that doesn't work definitely try with another PC.

You'd be surprised how many people don't google before asking. My bad.
It's been a while since I used revolutionary, but I don't think you need to be in fastboot mode. Boot the phone normally and check USB debugging. This may have not turned up in a google search, but I'm pretty sure its mentioned in the..... Instructions.... On their website...
Edit: btw the first hit in the link ZaySk provided pretty much covers every issue you could have while using revolutionary.

I think that revolutionary needs a working rom and a phone booted. For fasboot are only drivers needed, but I recommend to connect phone in fastboot mode just to install drivers, not causing a PC reboot requirement. After the drivers are installed just boot up the phone, connect to PC and run revolutionary.

I actually got the drivers to work, but it was such a pain in the ass to do so and i forgot the steps i took.
From what i remember you need to go to safe-boot to turn off uncertified driver protection and then proceed to do advanced complex quantum physics actions in order to get it to work.
You should try googling "ADB drivers for windows 8", that was my procedure on doing it even though I have like 5 folders of drivers.

[Q] Fastboot waiting for device?

My htc one is plugged in, in fastboot, and says fastboot usb but fastboot on my computer is saying waiting for devices. What can i do to fix this issue?
I just had this problem and fixed it on my Windows 8 machine.
The culprit seems to be a Microsoft USB driver; fix is to replace the Microsoft with the Intel version.
Follow this guide here and you should be all set.
Good luck!

Via command line or via Hasoon's kit?
If I were you, I'd reboot to the OS and then see if you can ADB a command to get to the bootloader. If that doesn't work, then maybe you don't have ADB installed properly?

which sdk did you download and install? The adt bundle or just the sdk? The reason I'm asking if you install the sdk in a directory then change the path by moving it from the downloads folder it wont work.
my path is
C:/Downloads/adt-bundle-windows-x86_64/adt-bundle-windows-x86_64/sdk/platform-tools
also if you installed the sdk without administrator privledges it could cause adb not to work.
uninstall the sdk and right click on the setup file and select "run as administrator"
and see if that works
I'll give it a try, thanks

good news is your adb on computer is set up correctly.
bad news is either the rom or your phone is not seeing the usb cable connected.
Try a different rom and see if you have the same result.
Also if you have twrp for a recovery try to see if you can sideload a rom.
Damn it!

Waiting for device (Need experienced help please!)

Hey,
A while ago I flashed ARHD 20.1 on to my phone. I thought I would update the firmware to 2.24.xx but ran into a waiting for devices issues during the adb command. I've tried numerous tests on trying to get it to work but have been unsuccessful. Lately I've tried again with the latest firmware but I suffer from the same issues sadly.
I'm following Vomers guide for firmware flashing. I've done this previously so I don't know why this issue is occurring. If anyone can help, please do!
I've attached a picture to show the exact error. At the end of the error it usually states 'device not found'.

MTP error in fastboot, sounds strange. anyway, no clue with Win 8 or 8.1 (I'm still on Win 7), I can just point this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256359
Probably a question of deleting, and reinstalling drivers, I believe the latest version is something like "HTCDriver_4.8.0.002.exe". Like I said, I don't know about Win 8 and 8.1 problems.
Sorry mate, good luck, you'll get it working!!

I guess it depends on the drivers. I tried the method in that link and lost use of my mouse and keyboard lol. I should give it another crack. I've got the latest drivers you just suggested. Hopefully I can work this out. So far the error occurs on multiple PCs.

Ahhh I guess I didn't look deep enough. I saw coolookoo's post on the 4th Gen Driver for USB3.0 but didn't notice that it was normal to lose USB and keyboard functionality as he stated further down in the thread. I noticed his username on the linked site in that thread. I might have to give this another go tomorrow after some sleep.
Solved
I upgraded the USB Drivers to the ones stated in that thread and reinstalled the phone drivers. Made sure the phone was on debugging mode and it worked!
