[SOLVED]Bootloader bricked, recovered, but fail when running firmware - Moto X Q&A

Hello,
It had the original rom 4.4 on my XT1058 with root and unlocked bootloader, but was not getting running with 4.4.2 update for the original recovery. So I was going to be able to update and run fasthall.bat back to 4.2.2, but I opened the file and rebooted the machine to backup and forgot that it was open. Result: ****ed me.
I believe I have lost my bootloader, but following the tutorial of Gundabolu SC, unable to enter fastboot again, however, I can not run the sbf or RSD by flashall.bat.
I noticed that my phone with this LOCKED status, though I unlocked it.
To start the fastboot I run the code the tutorial I mentioned above, then it displays the following screen
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]Failed to hab check for gpt_main: 0x4e
CID Read Failure
Invalid CID Status 0x69
CustomerID error. Contact Dealer: 0xdead
No SP Partition found[/COLOR]
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]Fastboot Reason: Invalid CID[/COLOR]
For both methods to recovery, it becomes part of gpt.bin and when arrives at motoboot, of the following error message:
Code:
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]getvar max-download-size
downloading 32768 bytes
done
getvar max-download-size
downloading 1643008 bytes[/COLOR]
[COLOR="Red"]downgraded security version
update aboot version failed[/COLOR]
Can anyone help me?

I tried to recover via RSD several times, both with 4.4, as 4.2.2, but both have the same error.
In the RSD panel the following error message:
Code:
Failed flash process. 2/13 flash mootboot "motoboot.img" -> Phone returned FAIL.

quite a different error.NEVER heard of it>Wait let me ask my friends about it..

the issue is the bootloader you are trying to install dose not match the one installed so it will fail everytime we have to find the right one to get everything installed correct
so we need to grab the 100% correct firmware package for your phone.
the model you gave me is for the AT&T version

Sorry for double post there.
I remember that my device is the XT1058, but Brazil.
I downloaded the sbf, removed the max-download-size and run the RSD, but he brought me the same errors.

Sounds like you need to wait for the full 4.4.2 Brazil image to be posted for download to recover the phone.

Excuse me, but why do you think?
I did not get to install 4.4.2, I started to run the script flashall.bat 4.2.2 and thinking it would give time, it ended up damaging the bootloader.
Tried the firm indicated that dray_jr and 2 BR's, but it did not work.
I am very worried.

Did you try this, sounds like your trying to flash 4.2.2 firmware over 4.4.2 which won't work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2628940

Do you get the "downgraded security version" error when trying to flash 4.2.2 and 4.4 ?

I was going to try and probably would work (I've done this several times and has no secret), but it was not to start. I opened flashall.bat script but forgot to close it, because it was going back up yet, but the script detected the fastboot and started the process.
With seconds I removed the cable, barely gave it to start the first stage (before I left without turning back) and corrupted my bootloader.
I had the Original ROM 4.4 installed with root and unlocked bootloader, but even trying the 4.4 firmware I get the errors I described above.
Would have something to do with the tutorial I follow to start the fastboot?
I am Brazilian and even translating and reading what little I understand, I can not identify a problem as well. I'm scouring all here and trying something, but like I said, I am a layman and do not understand how the bootloader and related work.

With 2 firmwares I get the same error.

everytime i post here i reread the first thread and i am still not sure what you did.
so im going to ask some questions and see if we can't get some more info on this issue
1. Your device was 4.4 unlocked bootloader and rooted
2. did you try and install the 4.4.2 firmware
3. your device is the AT&T model but from Brazil
because if you are getting the gpt error on both 4.2.2 and 4.4 and it would lead me to think that the 4.4.2 bootloader is installed on your device.

Yes, I can start the fastboot via script "qflash.exe with (PORT NUMBER)-ramload MPRG8960.hex-mbn 33 MSM8960_bootloader_singleimage.bin-v-o" with a blank bootloader.

ok if i remember well first flash recovery from 4.4 firmware
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
after then u ll be able to flash entire image of 4.4.2

could it be that even thou the 4.4.2 update failed that it still installed the new bootloader and that is why nothing else will install.
but either way he could flash the 4.4 firmware without the gpt file and then take the OTA and everything should be fine.

I will remove the line from gpt and try again.
Earlier I was testing at work and now I'm home. The 4.4 firmware download this lingering: (

you really can't cause anymore problems so this is what i would try because from what i have read if you try to install 4.2.2 or 4.4 you the a gpt.bin verification error. which means that neither 4.2.2 or 4.4 are the right bootloader.
That leaves us with some how the 4.4.2 bootloader got installed because it is the only bootloader that can't go to 4.4 so with that being said.
I would download the correct 4.4 firmware for your phone.
extract it
and use the below adb commands to install it but leave out the gpt.bin flash command
Code:
*leave this one out*fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot reboot
i think everything should install fine and your phone should boot up and from what i have read you should still be able to take the 4.4.2 OTA without bricking your phone

Downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.4

So I used the 4.4 root tutorial without any problems and then flashed the 4.4.2 update via sdcard.
The deal is that my supersu seems to be damaged, thought I still have root, the xposed framework can´t seem to receive supersu permission.
So I want to downgrade to the 4.4.
How should I do this?

Term "Downgrade" refers to "lowering" you version, in this case from 4.4 to 4.2.2. Now you just need to go back to 4.4

Ok, so I have a locked bootloader. My guess is that I have the last version since I made the update to 4.4.2.
By having a locked bootloader I think I can´t downgrade to 4.2.2, right?
So I wanted to go back to 4.4 by following the commands below:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot reboot
But right on the first fastboot, I get this error:
downgraded security version
Update gpt_main version failed
preflash validation for GPT

Most likely you tried to downgrade to the very first 4.2.2 (.31 in case of XT1058). It's not possible. You need the one after, with camera update (.54 for XT1058, for example, http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0)

please dont downgrade to 4.2.2 camera update downgrade to 4.4 you just have to not flash the gpt file but flash everything else.
if you flash 4.2.2 Camera update and then take the OTA for 4.4 you will brick your phone.

It is well documented that if you downgrade to ANY version, once on 4.4.2, you will brick your phone! It is literally all over the Moto X forums.
Wouldn't you feel awful if the OP followed your advice and bricked their phone???

NO! I have no idea why anyone would advise you to do that.....
Whatever exploit you had used to root on 4.4 does not work on 4.4.2
The only way to root (and achieve write-protect-disable), now that you are on 4.4.2 is to unlock the bootloader. Even with unlocked bootloader, you still can't downgrade without bricking.
I'll just add my two cents as well....as perfectly said already above....I'll just add....
NO. Do not ever try to downgrade to any version if you are on 4.4.2 or higher already. Unless you don't care at all if you brick and have the cash for a new phone or an old phone you'd be happy using again.
No. Some will debate this, and they should keep it to themselves.....unless they are offering to replace your phone if their advice bricks you. ?
---------- Post added at 03:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:17 PM ----------
@okaban , please do not advice people to downgrade, or lead them to believe its safe.
If you want to try it, go ahead....but keep it to yourself. Too many aren't confident with this stuff and will end up with a paperweight because you led them to believe they could do it.
So please, do not suggest downgrading. Its irresponsible and hazardous advice.
Thanks! ?

Sorry, quoted because I wanted to try and emphasize this advice... and add...
The GPT.BIN in 4.4.3 has been updated as well.. so Once you have either 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 on your phone, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DOWNGRADE!!!
If you try and downgrade only "parts" things wont work properly... example: Those who had 4.4.2 and downgraded only system.img and boot.img found issues going settings -> security... (it kicked them out). And other flakey things happened. When they attempted to update, things got worse.
4.4.4 will likely see updates to motoboot.img(bootloader) and GPT.BIN(partition table)... So the same warnings will apply.
It does NOT matter if your bootloader is unlocked or not. These same warnings and caveats apply!!

Good point at the end. After 4.4.2....some thought their unlocked phone was immune to these warnings.....or their dev edition....which every one should know now is no different than any other unlocked phone. Aside from intact warranty.
Great addition KidJoe! Doesn't matter the phone, locked, unlocked or dev edition......none can safely downgrade.
The moto x is nothing like a Nexus in this regard.

Expert opinion needed in going back to Stock

Hi Guys,
I am in a bit of a problem. My Moto X has unlocked bootloader and rooted with custom recovery (twrp). So i can't update to 4.4.4 from OTA so i want to unroot and lock my bootloader (going back to everything stock).
I tried this method but it failed at first two steps.
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot oem lock
i recommend wiping your device also but that is up to you if you dont want
to then skip the next two commands and just type the reboot command
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot

You should NOT re-lock the bootloader. Leave it unlocked. The phone will update just fine with unlocked BL. Just flash back to stock (what ever version you have on the phone now), then take the new OTA update.
Afterwards you can re-root if you want to.
Once again: You do NOT need to lock the BL - for any reason.
EDIT: Just looked at your pictures. Your phone is in BAD shape -- you should have never attempted to downgrade. This will be difficult to recover. I suggest asking for help in the "debricking" thread in the General sub-forum.
Good Luck.
It looks to me like you WERE on the 4.4.4 or above bootloader, and you flashed just the 4.4.2 system and boot.img at some point. Now, going back to full 4.4.2, you have downgraded the Bootloader and partition table. That is a no-no.

Do you think i should go with it? Is their any chance of getting bricked? I have posted my system information picture above so you can see if it will be compatible with it.

The previous owner has left you with mismatched partitions. This state is known to be at risk of bricking....
Your safest option is to attempt to flash the 4.4.4 SBF (yes you linked the right file), but even this is not without risk. It might work perfectly fine, and you might end up having to de-brick it.
Wish I could give you a more definite answer, but anything other than flashing the full 4.4.4 SBF is very dangerous. Even flashing the entire 4.4.4 SBF has some risk.
Good Luck.

Thanks alot for your help. If you think there is even a slight chance of hard brick than i will stay with the current rom i have.
One last question, I you were in my position, would you go for flashing 4.4.4 SBF or would you just leave it as it is?

@samwathegreat is correct. You are trying to downgrade, hence the errors and problems. The key here is the screen shot of AP Fastboot, where the second line shows 30.B7 which is the bootloader for 4.4.4. So at this point, you only want to flash a 4.4.4 SBF, and never flash anything lower.
That does appear to be the correct 4.4.4 if you have a 2013 or First Gen... Sprint X.
I suggest you flash using mFastboot with the extra steps as listed in Option 5 at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-ReturnToStock.html However, if you are unsuccessful doing that, then you're going to need to visit the Unbricking thread and see if that can help you get fixed up.

Hi KidJoe! Thanks for your reply. What can i post to confirm if i have chosen the right SBF for my phone (Yes it is Moto X First-Gen).
This is the file i am downloading right now. "ghost_sprint-user-4.4.4-KXA21.12-L1.28-28-release-keys-cid9.xml.zip"
And if i flash it with what you mentioned, is their a chance of bricking my device?
BTW i try to flash "ghost_sprint-user-4.4.2-KXA20.16-1.32-37-release-keys-cid9.xml" with the same method you posted which resulted in error due to the problem you mentioned above.

Your first screen shot in Post 1 shows your phone has 161.44.32.ghost_sprint.Sprint.en.US. In other words, Sprint rom. So you should be able to flash the Sprint 4.4.4 you found.
Ideally you want to look at the FINE PRINT on the bottom of the back of the phone. It will have a model, like XT1056, XT1060, XTT1049, XT1053, etc. The other option, if you have the original box, check the label on the end of it. If the IMEI number printed on the label, matches what phone shows in its menus, then that label on the box should also tell you the model (the box for my Verizon X has MOTXT1060DEV on the bar code label.), Since you got yours used, its VERY important you confirm that is the original box when trying to use the box to confirm the model number!
As for risks of bricking... well, that is an unknown. There have been MANY bricks caused when users got them selves into the situation your phone is in. There is no 100% risk free process to try and recover. And that is why there are so many warnings telling people to NOT DOWN GRADE!!!
What I'm suggesting has worked, but you are correct, there is still a chance to brick. Taking an OTA in the state your phone is in also has a risk of bricking. Anything you try and do at this point also have a risk of bricking.

Yes. The phone will ERROR if you try to flash an older GPT.BIN which is what you are encountering. (bootloader version indicates you had 4.4.4 on your phone, including its GPT.BIN and Bootloader).
The problem is this...
The Phone's previous owner had a FULL 4.4.4 ROM flashed to the phone. They attempted to downgrade. Since GPT.BIN and MOTOBOOT.IMG can not be downgraded, they did only PARTS!! Now the phone has mismatched bootloader, partition table and other parts compared to the older "System" and such which are installed.

Also in this process, is their chance of my phone dead?
Will these cmds also lock my bootloader or should i just leave it unlocked? As currently my phone has unlocked bootloader and is rooted.
A step by step (maximum safe steps) for flashing would be greatly appreciated.

XT1056 is Sprint. So ghost_sprint-user-4.4.4-KXA21.12-L1.28-28-release-keys-cid9.xml.zip is the right ROM to use.
use EVERY COMMAND AS STATED in the link. If successful, all parts will be back in line, and consistent.
As I said, yes there is a chance you can brick your phone. Many other things can brick your phone while you are in this state too. There is no 100% "Safe" and "guaranteed to not brick your phone" process when you are in this state.
This process will NOT lock your bootloader. And samwathegreat already told you there is no need to re-lock it.

@WillisD is 100% correct...
Notice the message in the first shot?
Code:
downgraded security version
update gpt_main version failed
preflash vaildation failed for GPT
And the shot showing the top of the AP Fastboot screen shows 30.BC which is the bootloader version for the leaked test/soak 5.02...
You attempted to downgrade, and the phone doesn't like it.
Please see -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot..., and the impacts of GPT.BIN and MOTOBOOT.IMG
At this point, if your phone is saying Invalid CID and stops when it tries to boot, you are likely stuck until a 5.1 SBF for your phone/carrier leaks, and you can mfastboot fash it. It is the only SAFE way.
There might be other ways (look in the threads discussing the leaked 5.02), but I wont suggest them as they wont take you back to 100% stock, and also introduce version mismatches on your phone which could cause problems/issues.

Just do NOT take any future OTA's if you're now running a gpt.bin and motoboot.img from a different rom than you are now running on your phone. If history is any indication, you are very likely to brick in this situation.

Hi, please, where can i get the latest gpt.bin and boot for a generic xt1058? cause mine is bricked and gpt.bin from every firmware (i tried LATAM, BR, and AR 21.12-15 and the one that last with .7 and it seems like the gpt.bin in those firms its not the last, i had no problem cause i skipped that part everytime, but atm my phone is bricked and i need to reflash bootloader and i cant cause older gpt.bin in the firmwares :S

[Q] [XT1053] How to get 5.1 back. Already updated once to 5.1

Hello,
Please help me get any OS back to my XT1053 for now. Here's what happened:
1) I unlocked the bootloader, rooted my XT1053, stock recovery. Then last week I tried updating it to 5.1 official version via OTA. It failed due to files mismatch (maybe due to using apps that need root like Adaway). So I downloaded 4.4.4 STOCK version from Moto website, flashed boot.img, system.img and followed all the steps given here: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images
Once the phone booted properly into 4.4.4, I tried 5.1 OTA and it worked fine. Then I flashed TWRP and SU to get root (I lost root when I flashed STOCK 4.4.4).
2) Everything was fine except that whenever I rebooted, my phone would Optimize ALL the apps. I Googled a lot and apparently this happened to many folks and there was no solution.
3) Today, I thought I will try and fix it by sideloading the 5.1 OTA zip (I thought the regular OTA style installation that I did of 5.1 over mfastboot style installation of 4.4.4 had something to do with it. I know, this was stupid of me!)
4) So, today I went to TWRP and tried to flash 'Blur_Version.213.44.1.ghost_row.Retail.en.US.zip'. I am 100% certain that this was the file that I copied from /cache after OTA had downloaded the file last week and I had saved it locally on PC and in SD on phone. However, this flashing gave me an error saying that it expected either 4.4.4 KXA or 5.1 but that my system was 4.4?? So the flashing failed and my OS is gone. How can I get ANY OS back? Here are the things that I tried so far:
1) Installed RSD Lite and I am downloading XT1053_TMO_RETAIL-US_4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.29.1_2_cid9_CFC_1FF.xml.zip file from http://www.filefactory.com/folder/dd05c058d3ff8dbe/?sort=created&order=DESC&show=100&page=1 as I type this out now. HOWEVER, I think I shouldn't use it as I read KidJoe saying not to downgrade. (KidJoe's comments are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-tip-web-sites-official-leaked-roms-t2923347)
2) THEREFORE, I was wondering if I could simply flash a higher or equivalent version of ROM. Since we don't have an official 5.1 flashable zip right now, can I use 5.1.1 by CM? It's present here: http://primehowto.com/install-andro...le-moto-x-xt1053-2013-via-cm12-1-nightly-rom/
3) If yes to point# 2 above, I have a small problem. My phone is not detected by 'adb devices; in TWRP recovery mode. My battery is 11%. Could that be the issue?
I KNOW THIS WAS A LONG POST. I JUST WANTED TO GIVE ALL THE INFO. PLEASE HELP ME GET ANY OS ONTO THE PHONE AND THEN I WILL WAIT FOR THE 5.1 SBF TO BE AVAILABLE. THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE....

No, I didn't try mfastboot of 'gpt' from 5.1 update file 'Blur_Version.213.44.1.ghost_row.Retail.en.US.zip'. I don't see an 'mboot' or 'boot' file in it though. I do see 'gpt'. Also, in fastboot mode it says "Charger connected" instead of "USB connected". I think that's due to the low battery too?

Would you know if 'Blur_Version.213.44.1.ghost_row.Retail.en.US.zip' file is the OTA 5.1 file? I think that's how the naming convention goes i.e. the name is set to the system version on which it is going to be updated NOT the system version that it will be updated to. I don't know why this flash failed though. I can give you the exact error that I get when I try flashing this if that helps? Thanks!
Shoot the error. If it's security downgrade, again flash gpt and mboot from Ota 5.1.
I will have to verify the name of Ota as its critical info.

When I tried flashing "Blur_Version.213.44.1.ghost_row.Retail.en.US.zip" file (which I still think is the OTA 5.1 zip), I get this error:
Package expects build fingerprint of mototola/ghost_retail/ghost:4.4.4/KXA21.12-L1.29.1/2:user/release-keys or motorola/ghost_retail/ghost:5.1/LPA23.12-15/15:user/release-keys; this device has motorola/ghost_retail/ghost:4.4/13.11.1Q2.X-69-3/51:user/release-keys
This is where I got burned today. The above error wiped out my OS. I was on 5.1, I don't know why it says I have 4.4....
Prolly system mismatch, try only gpt and mboot. What error do u get?
---------- Post added at 09:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:17 PM ----------
BTW your post provided good info. So Ota think u on 4.4.
You flashed only syst and boot to get on 4.4 ,could be where the prob is.
Need to know where img/rom info reside.
Double check the 4.4 files you flashed.
Just thinking out loud..

Okay, so I fixed it. At least got an OS for now .. This is what I did.. I took a chance and went ahead with these steps:
1) Extracted files from Stock TMO 4.4.4 file 'TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4.4_213.44.1.ghost_row.Retail.en.US_MR4_CFC.tgz' got from Moto website.
2) Modified 'flash.bat' file to have below commands:
SET mfastboot=mfastboot.exe
%mfastboot% getvar max-download-size
%mfastboot% oem fb_mode_set
%mfastboot% flash partition gpt.bin
%mfastboot% flash motoboot motoboot.img
%mfastboot% reboot-bootloader
%mfastboot% flash logo logo.bin
%mfastboot% flash boot boot.img
%mfastboot% flash recovery recovery.img
%mfastboot% flash system system.img
%mfastboot% flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
%mfastboot% erase modemst1
%mfastboot% erase modemst2
%mfastboot% flash fsg fsg.mbn
%mfastboot% erase cache
%mfastboot% reboot
3) It failed with 'partition', 'motoboot', 'logo'. Everything else was successful.
4) My phone booted into 4.4.4 now.
It's funny but I think I have successfully downgraded from 5.1 to 4.4.4... That means, my main system file was never upgraded to 5.1?? It's late and I want a phone for tomorrow so I won't try 5.1 tonight. But it would be great if experts could pitch in. How did I downgrade from 5.1 to 4.4.4?
Anyway, thanks for your help. Your comment about 'gpt' made me think "maybe my phone won't hard brick if I install 4.4.4 again".. and it didn't!
CHEERS!
You can downgrade Fri 5.1 to 4.4 without flashing gpt and mboot. Wait for full 5.1.
Excellent man. Check your bootloader version, it's probably lollipop. So don't take update yet.

So, pls tell me what are the things that I need to check the versions of? Attached is a screenshot from 'About Phone'. How do I check bootloader version? Thanks man..

Many try to skip GPT.BIN and MOTOBOOT.IMG... but when you have a version missmatch (gpt/motoboot from one rom, and rest from another), you increase your chance of bricking should you apply an OTA update zip in the future. And you'll likely end up with features not working or extra "bugs" that wouldn't otherwise appear.
For those who say "its safe to downgrade"... I'll point you to -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-warning-risks-downgrading-impacts-t3058202 and ask you to view the 7 links near the end of the first post as just a few examples.
Hey KidJoe, I could really use your help. I didn't want to downgrade but I had no choice as I couldn't re-install 5.1 (hence created this thread). It's good that I didn't brick when I reverted to 4.4.4 from 5.1 but I am skeptical of taking the 5.1 OTA now.
Pls look at the screen shot that I attached in my previous post. Also, my BL version is 30.BE (sha-34b7ccb, 2015-04-22 12:57:17). I have Stock Recovery KXA21.12-L1.29.1
How can I get a perfect installation of 5.1.. By perfect I mean none of the files left behind in the old version.
Appreciate your help!

Hitdroid, do you mind sharing your 5.1 OTA file for xt1053.
I'm in the same situation as you. Got 5.1 OTA a few weeks ago, rooted it and installed TWRP. Then I accidentally installed my 4.4.4 backup which erased my 5.1 install.
I just installed CM 5.1 as a stopgap but i'd like to return to near stock so i'm following this thread.
as I thought, you have a 5.1 BL.
Gotta flash manually when sbf/ROM is available

Because of your bootloader, the safest way is wait for the 5.1 SBF to be posted (since you have an XT1053, it will be posted on Moto's web site, and you don't have to rely on leaks)... But I have no idea how long that will take.
Now, you could try to take the OTA, but I've seen enough bricks to say.. If it was my phone... I'd wait.
I'm at work so will share the file once I go home. But I think we should wait for 5.1 SBF as @KidJoe and @hbenz2008 have stated.

[HELP] Moto X XT1058 AT&T fully bricked! I can't do anything!

So, as the title says, I had a Moto X XT1058 from AT&T.
I updated a long time ago to Lollipop and the phone worked perfectly fine until yesterday, when suddenly shutted down and when I restarted, got stuck on M logo.
I restarted to bootloader(?) pressing power off and vol down buttons.
The version that shows me is 30.BE
The device wasn't unlocked or rooted, because I was happy with the stock ROM, so it says Device is LOCKED ans Status Code 0.
I tried every option on this menu and everyone says (in red):
"No valid PIV block in SP for system
piv validation failed (system)
Boot up failed"
I tryed with abd, fastboot, mfastboot and RSDLite to flash gpt.bin and motoboot.img and every time I do it I get a error, and the operation fails.
For what I've read in tooooooo many posts, it's probably death, but I resist to this idea, so I came here to ask for advice.
THE PHONE IS NOT IN WARRANTY ANY MORE.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english (not my native language).
why dont you try twrp recovery ?
just flash it

But I never flashed any ROM on this phone. I got Lollipop from a OTA update. My phone was stock. Never rooted, never unlock bootloader. I didn't find any tutorial to do it with this characteristics.
And it's an AT&T xt1058

The bootloader of the XT1058 from AT&T is'nt unlockable.... That's the big trouble. I've read that it can be done if it's no 4.2.2, but not if the version is newer.
