Hello.
I don't know if this is the right section ( and if it isnt I deeply apologize)
I think I ruined my HTC One last night though not sure.
I had it unlocked and with Trickdroid on it.
Then I wanted kitkat, did everything by the book, the ROM installed and everything. Everything was good until the first restart.
Since then, it kept on trying to restart. It attempts to enter in recovery mode ( I can see the pink text for few sec) and then is rebooting over and over, in the same sequence:
- wants to reboot but can't
- attempts to enter recovery but falls back into rebooting
I tried EVERYTHING to try and fix it but I think I've ruined it
While holding volume down and power button I can go into recovery ( I think) but no matter what I chose, it follows the same pattern. Attempting, failing, starting over.
If it's any use: I have the S-OFF ( I think, as I did it last night)
Is there anything I can do ?
PLEASE help, Im without a phone..
Re-flash recovery and type fastboot erase cache. See if you are able to get in recovery.
Post your fastboot getvar all output (remove imei/sn)
sent from my mobile device

First off, let me thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
Your language is way too complicated for me
Im just a graphic designer.
I don't know how to re-flash recovery and where/how to type fastboot erase cache.
OK. You will need to catch up on how to use adb and fastboot commands. There are a few guides which detail their usage. Please familiarize yourself

You chose to install a rom without knowing how to troubleshoot. Your phone is S-OFF (supposidly), you have YET to provide ANY information using fastboot getvar all, and you are expecting someone to hand hold you and fix your phone, do I have it right so far??
Better get started on learning how to use ADB, ADB Push, Fastboot commands so that some hand-holding can commence.

Well the first question would be, where did you get that getvar all? it is customary to copy/paste output of the getvar all (XXXing out anything but the first two characters of IMEI and s/n), cause above getvar has way too many faults in it.
But we're not being helpful here are we
so now get yourself TWRP 2.6.3.3 http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
(don't use a download manager on that site, and make sure MD5 is correct)
then flash it:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> enter RECOVERY
now, if the <rom i want to install>.zip is not already on your phone:
adb push <rom i want to install>.zip /sdcard/ <- this will take about 5 minutes without any progress
then in TWRP, select "install" -> "choose zip" -> and select the <rom i want to install>.zip

It doesnt matter that when I installed Trickdroid, I used Clockwork recovery, right?
I can just install twrp over it or something, corect?
P.s. Thank you SO VERY MUCH for your help. I don't know how else to repay your kindness but if you need an avatar or a forum signature, I promise to do one for you that you will love ! Thank you

1- "It doesnt matter that when I installed Trickdroid, I used Clockwork recovery, right?" -> yes it does, if you're using any 4.4 ROM, at the moment the most reliable/recommended custom recovery is TWRP 2.6.3.3 (possible 2.6.3.4), anything else and you may encounter bootloops or failed installation.
2- yes, you can just flash it over CWM, no problems there.
3- xda forum has that little thanks button (on the lower left, of a post), when you feel someone actually helped, it's one way to reward them
4- i should get around to an avatar, maybe i'll take you up on that offer sometime
Let me/us know if you need more help
cheers
@nkk71, as OP is S-OFF, would probably flashing RUU ZIP for 401 region be good?
This one should do the job... http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip...0-01_release_318486_signed_2_4_decrypted-zip/
Or http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...1-27_10-31-1131-05_release_310878_signed-exe/

Hi SaHiLzZ, hope all is well
yes he could, but since I can't really say whether that getvar is correct (sorry no offense to OP), because it has too many unknowns (to be more precise: mistakes) for the output he/she posted, i'm hesitant to recommend flashing a ruu

second, when it went back to bootloader, did you use VOLUME buttons (to scroll) + POWER (to select) and enter RECOVERY?

And when you say that I should copy/paste, you mean that I should copy all 3 commands you wrote in your previous post and then paste them into my cmd window here? All 3 at the same time and in the order you wrote them?

Yeah, because I opened a cmd window for each of the commands you wrote After seeing that the first one does nothing that is.
And yes, I think I am in custom recovery now.
What happens when I use the Vol/Power keys ( I have to, otherwise my phone is stuck in that reboot loop) Vol Down+ Power, is that I get to this screen ( wish I could take a screenshot but I dont have a phone)
TAMPERED

No, if I press on FASTBOOT, I get this:
The same first text and digits
Then FASTBOOT USB
Then the whole VOL UP/DOWN thing
And then the following choices:
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLODER
POWER DOWN
No matter what I chose ( apart from power down) it send my phone into this rebooting loop.

I swear to God, I don't do anything wrong on purpose, including mistyping. That is EXACTLY what it says there.
I know one prompt should be enough but after typing your first command and nothing happened ( but it looked as if its sending something) I opened 2 more, for the other 2 commands. Call me an imbecile...most likely I am...
And I think I managed to get the getvar all as you requested.

sounds strange are you using the correct commands? download latest recovery (CWM or TWRP) from the xda threads, place it in your adb folder, then
abd reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
and enter RECOVERY, should be no problem. if it still fails, copy/paste your command prompt here

1) well, a "fastboot getvar all", tells you (and us) a lot of information about your phone, and an example is pretty much in almost every single thread in this forum, be it the Q&A section, the general section, etc.
so it's time to do a little reading and googling, shouldn't take more than a few minutes.
we are here to help and assist you, not to teach you about fastboot/adb etc. there are more guides/how-tos/tutorials/etc around than i care to count... sorry if that doesn't sound nice of me, but you are expected to do some research yourself
2) if you have an m7_u/ul model then that recovery won't work with a 4.4 ROM, that's why we need the above output.

we are here to help and assist you, not to teach you about fastboot/adb etc. there are more guides/how-tos/tutorials/etc around than i care to count... sorry if that doesn't sound nice of me, but you are expected to do some research yourself
2) if you have an m7_u/ul model then that recovery won't work with a 4.4 ROM, that's why we need the above output.

okay download this: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407585867
extract those files into a separate folder... i like to keep things simple, so I use: C:\ADB
then open a command prompt in the folder you extracted the files, connect your phone, and in bootloader, when it says FASTBOOT USB,
in the command prompt type:
fastboot getvar all
then copy/paste that output here (excluding IMEI and s/n)

you see, that wasn't too hard :good:
okay, so you have an m7_u (PN0711000), so you are free to flash anything for M7_U and M7_UL (they are both compatible, only the LTE hardware is missing in your phone, but that doesn't affect the software)

First: Force reboot: press and hold POWER + VOLDOWN (under a bright light, not kidding!!), after about 5 seconds or so buttons should start blinking, and after 30 seconds or so, the phone will reboot, let go of POWER, but keep holding VOLDOWN to get back to bootloader.
(you may need to try 2 or 3 times to get it right)
Second, did you check MD5 on the downloads?
Third, if yes and they are OK, please reflash recovery and copy/paste your command prompt output

you should download again, and don't use a download manager, once md5 is ok you can flash it... i'll upload a copy to dropbox in a minute
and my apologies if i wasn't online the whole time, seems my kids wanted a bit of attention too
Hello fellow One users,
I have browsed threw most if not all the HTC One problems on the site and google to try and figure this thing out as i KNOW how people hate Duplicated Threads... Anyways i hope someone can help me with this situation.. Thanks
I received this phone from a friend, ive attached pic showing the state he gave it t me in... According to him he was able to get the phone into Bootmode .. when he gives it to me AFTER TRYING TO RUN A RUU without S-OFF ...
Heres my problem... Basically the phone will not power on, into anything... I try to power on i get this... either a red flashing LED inside the top speaker... or a solid RED led when plugged into the power outlet .... Then ill try to boot into Bootmode and i get this ... Home and Back buttons flashing with no LED on, after the Home and Back buttons flash 10 times i then get a solid red LED , plugged in or not... ive even trying to just charge the device ( I had it charging for a week CONSTANTLY ) no results .. i even try to run a RUU ( for luck i guess ) but no cigar... all i get is an error saying the device has less then 30% battery .. i don't know how it can tell that even tho my PC actually doesn't even see the phone EVER connect.
If anyone can give me ideas and solutions on how to go about fixing this please do as i have tried almost everything. I am very familiar with android and electronics so please don't noob me.
Thank you and i do apologize if i do respond with Noobish questions and the HTC One is a newer device to me.
Thanks
**UPDATE**
Got it to boot into bootloader and it also boots to the HTC screen as shown below.... now i try to run adb commands but the PHONE IS NOT AUTHORIZED...What do i do now??
RED light solid = Not enough battery - at least 30% is required other the security measures will prevent you from flashing RUUs.
Device unauthorized? Try to check and uncheck the USB Debugging option in the device, if possible. If not, you can plug in and out the USB and the device should show up a messagebox to ask you if you authorize the computer, but for that Debugging must be checked AFAIK.
delete the computers adb key: rm /data/misc/adb/adb_key on device
(I have no idea if in case of multiple authorized computers the additional keys are in a new line of the file or if they are in new files. I have only 1 computer.)
stop all adb processes "killall adb" in linuxoids and "taskkill /IM adb.exe" in windows or simply the taskmanager in both.
restart the phone
toggle usb debugging off and on
connect
use adb
click authorize

1- RUU will not work with S-On and UNLOCKED bootloader, with S-On you need to relock bootloader for RUU to work -> but don't do that yet!!
2- for future reference: Force reboot: press and hold POWER + VOLDOWN (under a bright light, not kidding!!), after about 5 seconds or so buttons should start blinking, and after 30 seconds or so, the phone will reboot, let go of POWER, but keep holding VOLDOWN to get back to bootloader.
(you may need to try 2 or 3 times to get it right)
3- what adb version are you running and what OS do you have
4- start by posting a "fastboot getvar all" (excluding IMEI and s/n) and what do you ultimately want to achieve?

I am running Windows 8 64bit with the latest adb version. also all i have are USB 3.0 ports
and ive tried to run the command "fastboot getvar all" but it just says waiting for device when the device is in fastboot usb mode...
Ok guys, so because i had windows 8.1 and only USB 3.0 Ports i followed this guide to fix the fastboot issue... http://plugable.com/2012/12/01/windows-8-and-intel-usb-3-0-host-controllers...
it now connects to fast boot, after running the fastboot command "fastboot getvar all" i get this in return... (refer to pic)
so any ideas how to RETURN THE PHONE TO STOCK
thanks

1- Win8.1 doesn't play nice with hboot 1.44, so recommend you use a Win7 or Ubuntu Live USB.
2- why don't you just flash a custom recovery and install a custom ROM? because with S-On, you can only get your bootloader to say RELOCKED, not the original LOCKED
And I'll leave this here just in case:
There is a newer RUU for your version here
but I personally would not use it, because you can still achieve S-Off on hboot 1.44

ok sorry for the delay but here are some snaps of the issues im having. Every time try to push something to the device, it gives me "FAILED <remote:not allowed>
then it even says that the bootloader is not unlocked ..how is that if it clearly states in the bootloader menu *** UNLOCKED ***??
Any ideas on how to fix this? if the HTC One only had an SD Card Slot this could be so much easier ...

hmm , and you want to s-off your device?
are you trying to brick your device in the 20 commands or so you ran (with the exception of fastboot devices), none of them are correct... either mistyped or completely inappropriate.
fastboot commands are not a joke, don't treat them as such, or you will end up bricking your phone. randomly typing fastboot commands is not a good habit.
Now please do some reading and research, but here's some quick info: Your phone has three states
1- bootloader (this is where you use fastboot.exe to flash things appropriate for bootloader mode flashing, such as a custom recovery)
2- recovery (with custom recovery you can use adb.exe commands, and install ROMs)
3- ROM (if you have USB debugging enabled you can also use adb.exe commands here)

Wrong.
you use fastboot to flash
* recoveries
* erase cache
* ruu.zip packages
* firmware.zip packages
you use a custom recovery (such as TWRP 2.6.3.3), to install a <name of ROM>.zip
you cannot "fastboot flash ..." a custom ROM.ZIP.
PS: I seriously recommend you don't do these commands at 2am when you're tired, that could end badly

you use fastboot to flash
* recoveries
* erase cache
* ruu.zip packages
* firmware.zip packages
you use a custom recovery (such as TWRP 2.6.3.3), to install a .zip
you cannot "fastboot flash ..." a custom ROM.ZIP.
PS: I seriously recommend you don't do these commands at 2am when you're tired, that could end badly

Ok so what I want to do is...
1. Upload the ROM you previously posted to my device via Fastboot
2. Gain S-Off using revon
My issue is what proper command I use to load the rom to my device for flashing threw the recovery??
I can access the Bootloader, Fastboot and Recovery.
ADB will not work, not sure why...
In Recovery I can not mount the storage, as I would on my LG to load the zip file to storage and flash threw recovery...
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Free mobile app
**Update**
So I found this in a guide...
""Alternatively you can flash through Fastboot. Download the ROM and place it in the platform-tools folder.
To start flashing, type fastboot update [romfile.zip].
This will take a few minutes to complete, so do not touch the device while it is working. ""

Finally after 6 hours of sitting at my laptop, browsing the internet for answers ... it was so simple ...
1. adb wasnt working because when the device was connected in recover mode, Windows 8 had installed the "My HTC" drive ... To fix it all i did was uninstall that driver "My HTC".. refresh Device Manager and look under "unknown Devices" ... and install the Samasung OEM adb device driver in its place ...BOOM working adb!?
Next i followed your steps to push the rom via adb and it finished successful.
C:\Users\Peter\Android>adb devices
List of devices attached
FAXXXXXXXXXX recovery
C:\Users\Peter\Android>adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
4739 KB/s (1017950778 bytes in 209.742s)
C:\Users\Peter\Android>adb shell md5sum /sdcard/rom.zip
06c863ce41b0d5001290737a31e198a1 /sdcard/rom.zip
C:\Users\Peter\Android>
3. i check the "md5sum" and got "06c863ce41b0d5001290737a31e198a1" ... File i pushed was Android_Revolution_HD-One_9.4...
4. Flashed and device is now working perfectly :victory:
Thank You so much and for being so patient with me aha ... you deserve a thanks and a donation for all your help :highfive:
Also gained S-Off using Revon
I am looking for some help in getting my HTC One M7 back up and working.
I used the online Cyanogenmod installer on my at&t HTC One M7 and it worked for the most part including where it contacts the HTC site to place the phone in developer mode.
Unfortunately the radio was far weaker and was losing it's signal all the time. I tried a few nightly's in hopes it was a bug that would be addressed but the issue with radio strength continued. Then an alert about an update from Cyanogen popped up and I trustingly clocked OK thinking that perhaps THIS would fix the radio stregth issue and I can keep my rooted ROM. Instead it broke Bluetooth entirely.
So I watched a YouTube video on restoring to stock. Apparently I can't post the link,
I got all the way to the part where I use fastboot to install the zip, HTCOne-32GB-ATT-5.12.502.2-TWRP-stock-unrooted.zip
It failed but not in the manner described in the video I believe it is due to the phone security set to S-ON but I have yet to find a way to set it back to S-OFF from where things are now.
This was the steps from the video I followed starting with fastboot getvar version-main and the fastboot oem lock
I then went through the following commands
C:\fastboot>fastboot erase cache
erasing 'cache'...
OKAY [ 0.054s]
finished. total time: 0.054s
C:\fastboot>fastboot oem rebootRUU
...
(bootloader) Start Verify: 3
OKAY [ 0.031s]

C:\fastboot>fastboot flash zip HTCOne-32GB-ATT-5.12.502.2-TWRP-stock-unrooted.zip
sending 'zip' (1249780 KB)...
OKAY [ 47.434s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 171.191s
And so it failed. The HTC screen came up but there was no progress bar so I know that fast boot is talking to the phone. I have been looking for a fix ever since and I am presently using a flip phone while working on getting the HTC One back.
Presently the phone boots directly into fastboot and will not allow me to do anything but reboot or power down but I can still use fastboot.
Revolutionary just sits at waiting for device.
The HTC One Toolkit is of no use as it also cannot see the device.
This is what is on the screen presently. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok
First thing .. edit your post above and remove the Serialno and IMEI
second the file you downloaded is my TWRP Backup and has to be restored using TWRP ...not flashed
it would be easier for you to use the Guru Reset I made
here >> http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358545274
So unlock your bootloader and flash TWRP 2.6.3.3
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then sideload the Guru Reset from within TWRP
TWRP / Advanced / ADB Sideload - swipe to sideload
From PC adb / fastboot folder
you use
adb sideload name-of-rom.zip
make sure the rom is in the same folder as adb / fastboot

I appreciate all the help and I don't want to appear difficult but when I run the adb sideload Guru_Reset_M7_5.12.502.2_clsA.zip with the rom in the same folder adb simply refuses to recognize the sideload command. It spits back the help menu and I can't find sideload in said menu.
edit: I am using adb push to place the rom on the phones /sdcard directory and I am gong to use TWRP to install while in recovery mode. The copy is taking a while so if this is going to brick my phone let me know.
edit 2: now I don;t think I want to do this. The online resource don't mention anything specifically about installing a ROM using this method.
edit 3: I tried using the HTC One Toolkit which comes with adb 1.0.31. It gave me the following error
adb devices
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
HT34xxxxxxxx recovery
adb sideload "File Path..."
* cannot read 'sideload' *
adb sideload "C:\fastboot\Guru_Reset_M7_5.12.502.2_clsA.zip"
error: closed
I am going to the gym to clear my head. Thanks again for all the help so far.

your doing fine ..what was the error and why is sideload not in your version of TWRP ?
Is this the same resource that suggested flashing a TWRP recovery file with fastboot ? ... trust me you in good hands now ..just push the rom and flash it
during install choose no to install stock recovery and yes to Root the phone.
unless of coarse you want a stock unrooted phone

I didn't realize the thread went to page 2. I thought you just dropped off the tread.
Sideload is in TWRP but it does ask for a password. I loaded TWRP 2.6.3.0 and it doesn't ask for a password.
I am pushing the Guru_Reset_M7_5.12.502.2_clsA.zip to /sdcard again. I will try the install once it is there.

I can't tell you if TWRP 2.6.3.0 will work with the Guru Reset ..it's very old and untested
if you saw a password in TWRP 2.6.3.3 you just swipe to make it go away

I loaded TWRP 2.6.3.3 again and I have to hit cancel to get past the password. I then can go to ADB Sideload but it always says Failed at the top while the only thing in the terminal window is Updating partition details.
I loaded TWRP 2.7.1.1 and was able to load up ADB Sideload and attempt a sideload from HTC One Tools which uses adb 1.0.31. I still get a syntax error when trying to use sidelaod from the command line.
It got as far as 77% before failing with this error message
sending: 'sideload' 77%
* failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)' *
I also keep getting unable to mount /data and unable to mount internal storage errors on the TWRP ADB Sideload terminal.
I need to quit for the night. It seems like I am getting closer to a solution though.
I'll use the backup flip phone and I'll just have to talk to people while out tonight I guess. Thanks for your help.

Yeah have a great night.
When you get back >>
Is you phone sdcard full ?
have you done factory reset and or format data partition in TWRP?
If it's too full to push / sideload a rom.
TWRP does have a file manager feature you may need to free up space using it. adb 1.0.31 is the version i use all the time... never an issue.
you would get mounting errors if the partitions were formatted or erased...it's ok the new rom recreates them

edit: Finished the adb push but HTC One still goes into Cyanogenmod......hopefully i can just leave this alone for a while cause atleast it turns on now

adb sideload copy's the file and installs it. Push does not
So, I've tried to get S-Off for a while, but my OS had to be the same as ROM version, so I did that. But here's where it went from bad to worse.. I flashed what I thought was a new ROM, but apparently there was no OS installed now.. It asked me if I wanted to unroot my phone in recovery, I unknowingly swiped yes.. So now I'm stuck here in fastboot without recovery and I can't flash a new recovery since I also did fastboot oem lock, and when I try to unlock bootloader all I get is "cannot open Unlock_code.bin" Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm quite familiar with rooting, I've had similar ROMs on my phone before. The phone is from december 2013. Anyone knows what I can do

not entirely necessary, sometimes helps, S-Off options (depending on your situation)
revone/moonshine -> rumrunner -> firewater -> sunshine (sunshine is by far the easiest and most reliable, but does cost $25)

cannot open / cannot load is usually MyFileNameIsWrong, or not in the same folder etc.
Sorry, I meant root yes..
The code name is right and it's in the right folder.. I've checked that multiple times even when trying to fastboot other files, recovery.img is able to read but not able to flash since I locked it..

The fact that dragging and dropping the file worked indicates that previously there was a problem with the files name or location. Check your using the correct fastboot/adb folder for both storing your files and running your commands.
You can't downgrade untill your s-off. Your hboot suggests your on 4.xx.531.x so you can't use that ruu.
If your phone is not booting you need to push a Rom and try to s-off first. The initial problem you had (with no os installed) was probably due to rom/recovery incompatibility.
Download Twrp 2.6.3.3 form here
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7 and flash it in fastboot.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "nameofrecovery".img
fastboot erase cache
Then boot to twrp recovery home screen and push your Rom
Code:
adb push "nameofrom".zip /sdcard
You can use the drag and drop method for these commands also (if you need) just remember to leave spaces in the appropriate places. The command window will appear unresponsive until the push completes. Once it's done install the Rom with twrp recovery.

You can't use those RUUs, those are for US T-Mobile (MID= PN0713000 + CID: T-MOB010), you have a German T-Mobile (MID= PN0710000 + CID: T-MOB101)
so you should currently be on 4.xx.111.x

It's possible something has been flashed that maybe shouldn't have and made a mess of the partitions.
Try this :- Download this stock recovery
http://d-h.st/Eq1
And flash it with fastboot remember to fastboot erase cache, then try boot to Recovery. If it boots the screen will be blank for a short while, then display an image of a phone with red exclamation this is normal. Holding volume up and press the power button to reveal the stock recovery menu. Ignore the Mount sd card errors that's also normal in stock recovery. Now perform a factory reset and wipe cache.
Reboot the phone back to the bootloader and flash twrp 2.6.3.3 then fastboot erase cache. Hopefully now twrp will boot. :finger-crossed:
If it does go into the "Wipe" options and select " Format Data" you will be prompted to type yes to confirm. Then 're-push the Rom and install with TWRP.
