howdy
me my better half and i have 3 xperia devices and problems with wifi
i use xperia z, miss uses xperia t and we have xperia z tab
the problem is following
when one of the devices is connected to wifi others cant connect (maybe connects with limited conectivity)
so im asking for suggestions and solutions so more than one device can be connected to wifi at once. its been the same since the beginning so updating didnt break anything
and so far all devices are unrooted stock
my connection is like this
ISP ---> level one router ----> switch ---> wifi transmitter ---> xperias
ive already tried to change transmitter protocol and stuff on the phone but no success
hjalp
Don't know the solution sorry.... But faced the same issue of my 2 galaxy note were in close proximity to each other.... One would connect and the other won't.....
I would try going to other room and then see if you can connect..... Not sure though sorry

Well I suggest use 5ghz instead of 2.4 less noises :silly: (solution suitable for Xperia z only )
1) using the transmitter will cut the bandwidth in half .
2)Make sure you keep the transmitter in about 25% range !
3) make sure that the transmitter are correctly paired
4) make sure the DHCP is on in your router
5) if you internet is cut off or limited connectivity then suggested solution is here _> http://www.wikihow.com/Refresh-Your-IP-Address-on-a-Windows-Computer
while all your devices are "connected"
I would not recommend using transmitter is not a efficient solution ! try to connect directly to the router
after some trouble to get access to the access point (forgot login creds )
ive changed the settings so it uses 2.4 and 5ghz and now it should work
(tested once and 2 devices connected)
thx marco

Well, it kind of difficult to say,
First I have attached for you a manual for your router http://download.level1.com/level1/manual/FBR-1430_UM.pdf
I suggest you read page 14 your setting should look exactly as in manual
You setting in computer should look like on the page 20
Furthermore look at the page 49 and make sure your screen look like
If the problem come back please post me a log please
Alternatively
follow page 5 - Factory reset!!
That is all what I can do :fingers-crossed:
Btw did you consider upgrading your router since it is kind old, (2007 release to market) is 7 years now. Over 7 year period technology does change a..a..a..a..a..lot. Meaning buying something fresh ??
Well I'm not the network administrator so it's not up to me. I could get new router but I would prolly hear bout spending money for stuff I don't really need .
Maybe there is a problem with router and cough torrents cough I know my router is slow cleaning dead ip's and sometimes if I over do my downloads gets stuck and I have to reboot it

Why you didn't tell me that in the first place, That's explains, Just reduce the swarm connection that shoud solve your problems! In your torrent clients. Once the torrent exceed the number of opened connection then the router will crash. Since your router is old and cannot coupe with the aggressive torrents client.
Your swam connection should not exceed more 25-30 for optimal work. Sir you want torrents -then buy your self a cisco EA4500.This router handle up to 250 swarm! (tested)

I am "not" an expert in torrents , This forum is for mobiles
I usually keep less than five but sometimes demand is higher.
Funny thing is this problem wasn't there when we had neo and s2 and later XT and neo

Hi Guys,
Just bought that wifi robot Skypee. Excellent piece of kit. But was just wondering if anyone has heard of or can develop software so I can control it through my Diamond (or any windows mobilke based phone).
Just posting it in Diamond section as I own one but I am sure that Spykee users will have other mobile devices whether it be windows platform or not.
Any coments suggestions welcome.
Had a quick search on google but could not find anything (yet).
anybody?
BUMP!
Just bumping this thread to get noticed.
So, I am assuming nobody has found a way to do this.
Never mind. I am sure many of you may get a spykee this xmas and maybe then the devlopments will start (hopefully)!
I didn't thinkt you could buy Spykee yet. Where have you bought it???
cool gadget!

alrite mate,
i bought mine few weeks back from costco in birmingham. it cost me £115 inc vat! but i heard they were going for £99 on amazon inc delivery! dont know if they still available though.
only thing that is a ***** about spykee is building it. it comes with about 1000 pieces. it took me about 6 hours in total to build it!!!
but its worth it! its really a great "spy" robot and the voip funtionaility is overrated as skype is not supported (yet anyway). but good thing about it is that firmware can be upgraded and additional programs for robot can be written in future!
just waiting for a windows mobile based gui application to control it! then it will be awesome
I just got a Spykee for Xmas, My girlfriend paid 175 quid and that was the cheapest price a few months back as they were all 199.
Im gutted to see it for 99 quid now but thats just the way things go!!
I would love to control it from my xperia.
There is an SDK for the Spykee and I might even try and develop some software myself depending on what language its for.
Shame about the price, I could have had 2 and used one to build an Ed209 from robocop or a Johnny 5 from short circuit.
It took me about 2 hours to build, if that! How the hell did it take you 6 hours?
I did have trouble with the stupid fiber optics though as they kept falling out but it was easier to just put them in last!!
lol

lol, 2 hours not bad! it took me that long to build the backbone lol! well6 hours was an average time over 3 days. did not have time to spend whole day on it but i suppose if u got experience with meccano or are good with building things like this then it would be good. i just wish the robot could build itself out the box lol!
I cant wait for applications\firmware for this to come out! will be excellent! my nephews love connecting to it from the other side of the world and playing\chasing\talking to my son via spykee! Great!
crazydiamond, you talk of an sdk being released? is it out yet? i last checked the website few days back and it was not out. will have a quick search again after i posted and if i cant find it will try and ask the question here again.
but i am glad to hear that i am not the only one wanting an application to control spykee from a WM based handset! will be very interesting to see one!
Have fun merry xmas and happy new year to all!
Apparently there is an SDK coming out soon, as spykee was advetised as having one I thought there was already one to download!
Another shameless marketing trick!
There is a guy called Jimfx on www.spykee.org who has deleloped his own GUI in Delphi and it works really well.
You can even change the speed to make Spykee a lot slower.
Give it time and someone will release some source code for us to play with.
I am quite dissapointed with spykee if I am honest.
I have had nothing but trouble with remote connection setup and have had to change my router settings because Spykee would not see my router unless it was broadcasting the SSID!
I still cannot get my friends to connect! Have forwarded every port and updated firmware on the router.
It needs an update and a web interface and some better documentation.
I expected so much more, and the intruder detection is not as advertised either.
I will keep you posted mate on any, if any, code appears for Spykee Devs
All the best and Merry Crimbo

yeah i had trouble setting up remote connection. but make sure you have changed the default admin password for spykee from password (default) to whatever you want. also, it is better to have a static ip address assigned to spykee so that it functions correctly.
its true about the false marketing about spykee but hey, i know this can be more of a robot than meccano have advertised it as because once custom apps for the robot can be made...well lets just say we will 'flash' spykee just as we 'flash' our mobile devices....to get more functionailty out of them than the manufacturers initially permitted!
Thanks for your reply and Help.
I have already assigned a static ip to spykee and tried Mac filtering on/off, broadcast ssid on/off, WEP on/off etc etc and still no luck.
Its starting to piss me off, The robot is not responding to anything.
The battery lasts a few minutes before it says it needs to re dock! Even on a full charge it says it needs to re dock.
So annoying. It looses connection in Local mode or Ad-hoc and none of the features work that are supposed too either.
I have already emailed play for a refund but it was bought before their 28 day stupid returns policy. Even though I only opened it on Xmas Morning.
Looks like I will be taking them to court.
Hi CrazyDiamond,
In order to be able to connect to Spykee from the internet, you have to follows
these steps ( and it works really good)-- I will use example data to make thing easy.
- Create a user other than admin on the console application
( MyUser / MyPassword)
- Register your Spykee on http://www.spykeeworld.com/spykee/US/index.html and select register. ( Give a name to your robot and a password -- carefull, this is case sensitive)
( MyRobot / MyRobotPassword)
- Still in the console, in My Spykee tab, put EXACTLY the name ( case sensitive) and the password you registered in spykeeworld. Note the ip adress you have here.
( MyRobot / MyRobotPassword). The ip shown: 192.168.1.1)
- Go to the remote connection tab and check 'Authorize remote access' then put a port number.
( 12345)
- On your router you need to do port forwarding to Spykee ip address and use as SOURCE and DESTINATION the port number you did put on the console application.
( source port: 12345 destination port: 12345 destination ip: 192.168.1.1 )
That's all.
Now to connect to your Spykee, click on the connection icon. Select Remote robot and put the exact name you used to register spykee ( case sensitive).
( MyRobot)
Then when the password is requested, use the account you create on the console (not the admin one).
(MyUser/MyPassword)
Then it should work.
Regarding the battery which the console says it is empty. This is a bug on the console application. Just don't take in account this message and you will see that you can use your Spykee for hours.
Regarding the documentation, it sucks!
Regarding the SDK, this is not yet available and I hope it will be soon...
Yes the last note, your Spykee should bip 3 times when you turn it on, which means it did
connect to your wifi access point.
I hope it helped.

i am sure this will help newbies of spykee!
CrazyDiamond, have you ironed out the issues with ur spykee? personally i think there is something wrong with its wifi broadcasting capabilities but hey im no expert. let us know how you get\got on
Hi, sorry for late reply, I was without Spykee as I sent him back for refund.
My spykees power issues were not software bug related, he eventually would not even activate when clicking "click to activate" Thing was driving me crazy so I sent him back and got my 184 quid back.
Bought another one for 94 quid from Gizoo and just build him and finished setting him up.
Drack, Nice guide, I appreciate your help although there was nothing there that I didn't already do correctly in the first place.
I still cannot connect remotely, I think it is down to my Router but I really do not know for sure.
I am a bit of a Computer Wizard and have been for the past 15 years, Solved 100's of PC hardware related and software related problems but cannot get a stupid robot that has age 8 written on it!! lol gotta laugh really.
Im sure my router is forwarding the ports correctly as I even checked the ports were open, completely removed all my security, firewalls and made sure He has his own IP assigned and still no luck.
Think I will convert him into an Ed209 or Johnny5 and wait for a firmware update if a new router does not work.
Cheers guys and Happy new year.
WooHoo, He is alive, Johnny 5 is alive!!! Well spykee is but you know they look the same.
I didn't test the new robot from a remote computer as it didn't work with the first one I had on the same settings.
I tested it with a local computer using remote connection as it specified in the manual.
This did connect for about 2 seconds and then just disconnected. Same thing as with first robot.
Wasn't even gonna bother testing from a remote Computer but decided as my friend had the software and was online at the time I would ask.
To my supprise, He connected! Still cant connect remotely from a local pc but thats only to test it anyway.
So happy He works. If anyone else has the same problem as I have had then make sure you try it from a remote PC, even if it doesn't connect as instructed in the manual.
It is so much fun to have someone drive him round
Strange!
Hi CrazyDiamond,
Your problem is really strange...especially the fact that you can't connect remotely from your local pc while a friend of you can connect remotely from his computer...
this could be that you have a kind of network problem. Check if you dhcp server is
correctly configured (if you can force an ip address for a specific mac address then do it for your robot, so it ensure that you will get anytime the same ip address...)...because if you don't then your port forwarding will not work correctly...this is stupid they didn't allow a fix ip address for the robot

Hi Drack, I already have the router Mac filtered and also already assigned a specific IP to Spykee by adding his Mac into the routers config.
Its all working fine apart from connection to a remote robot from local pc. This is not a problem as when I am home I connect too him locally and when I am at work I connect remotely.
It cant be the PC I am using as I have tried 2, One connected with wifi running xp pro sp3 and the other is connected via patch cable directly too the router, thats running Vista Ultimate 64.
The software is buggy using Vista64 and does tell me the battery needs charging etc.
Thanks for your advise, If I was unable to fix the problems myself then your advise would have been a blessing and I would have solved it.
Hope this thread helps others with problems.
By the way, Spykee is the nuts and I have had so much fun. Cant wait to Mod him and get the SDK.
Sdk is coming...
Hi CrazyDiamond,
Your problem is really strange but as soon as you can connect remotely from outside, and locally, this is no more a real problem.
For the battery I have exactly the same problem under XP, it tells the battery is empty after 5mn of run. It seems to be a bug in the software...
For the SDK, I emailed the support and they told me that they apologize to be late, but that the SDK should be available very soon ( this month).
I hope now that they will be hardware addon for Spykee...maybe Mecanno/Erector will provide new add on devices in the future...or why would they have use an usb connector??
cheers,
Drack

Hmm, haven't heard this one. My router is set to WPA-Personal/TKIP encryption and I can connect fine on all the ROMs I've used, try switching to that. Just out of curiosity, what type of router do you have? And what is ROM is your Wing running?
I just upgraded the rom to open touch 7 by ttran today. It's a belkin router.
That's wierd. I used almost all of ttran's ROMs including OT7.7biggy, never had any issues. It could be the router, but I don't know anything about Belkin firmware, mine is a Linksys. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. One more Q though, did this just start happening since you upgraded to OT7?
No, it has happened ever since i had the original rom.
Thanks for your help though.
This sounds like it could be a hardware issue. Like possibly your wifi isn't working on all 3 bands (b/g/n) like it should be. If a warranty or insurance replacement is an option for you, you may want to call T-Mobile about it.
I would like to but, I'v had this phone for almost two years. I think it could be the wireless router instead of the phone. I googled around and found out belkin routers had problems with windows mobile phones. Plus my phone can sitll connect to wireless in hotels.
Since i just got this new rom, do you have any good apps or programs you would suggest
Thanks
Yeah that sucks, I'm in the same boat with mine. Hoping it holds up long enough for me to get a Touch Pro2 this march when I get my upgrade. This is what I have on my Wing now, but you may want different app depending on your needs.

hahaha I wish it was that simple, I don't have the router's username and password and they are not the default. Also I don't have the router only a 50 meters network cable between our pc and the building owner appartment.
too complicated I know
Try this;
Download net tools 5
Find the udp flooded
For ip thing put 27.27.27.27
Drag the slider to ten and fill that box up with LOADs of stuff, next hit start and leave it for a bit it should flood your network so everyone else gets kicked off when you wanbt Togo o turn it of
Or use the ip flooder if you can find the ip of everybody on the network
Bet there's someone downloading torrents or some other P2P thing.
A friend of mine in Tel Aviv used to suffer all the time because her daughter would leave her PC seeding.
They had 8Mbps down, but only 128Kbps up! It was so easy for the upstream to be flooded and grind everything to a halt.

I dont use wifi a lot, but i recently moved to a place that has bad signal, and so i wanted to connect to my router, when i turn it on it shows other routers but not mine. Which seemed odd to me. I reset the modem and router to see if that would help. But it still doesnt work.
I have the .29 baseband. The newest, i beleive, Would that pose a problem?
If so a radio link that is reliable would be grand!
check the wiki radios are different for everyone so you just have to go through and test them but PLEASE only use the ones on the HERO CDMA WIKI because if u flash a gsm radio by accedent that will garantee a bricked phone.

I was under the impression the CDMA radio didn't have any affect on WiFi.
idk about if it effects it r not, but i tried 3 or 4 radios and all of the could not detect my router. So i guesss its another issue, ill have to ask and find out
Just an idea, probably a crazy one, but since you see other routers, make sure your router is actually broadcasting your network ID. (I have, at times in the past, turned this off unless I was connecting a new laptop or other device the first time, to keep it hidden from outsiders).

Why do you think it's a problem with your phone if you can see other routers?
Is your router brocasting on the only freqs. that an N router uses which afaik your b/g wireless device(hero) won't see.

Hmm..I've messed with a few router types (I work for a networking company, though I'm definitely no expert), what are you using (make model?) Have you connected other wireless devices (laptop, gaming console, etc) successfully?
Should be pretty easy to get into the web interface (though navigating the options can be confusing as hell) and see if it is:
1. broadcasting your net ID.
2. Running in N only mode (if it is an N router).

Yeah ive had it for a while actually, and ilive with 4 other people and we all can connect to 3, sometimes 4 laptops/desktops. And i beleive, i cant quiet remember, but i think ive connected to it before a long time ago. and i just looked and its a Netgear wirelsess N router
Okay, you should be able to log into it from one of your connected PCs via your browser, the address would either be http://192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
username and password (IF they haven't been changed!) are probably admin/password
Once in there, you should be able to find wireless settings, first thing I would look for is (as was previously suggested by FdxRider) the mode (n only, n + g (and maybe b). If it is set to n only, change it to n + g, or n + g and b. Then see if you phone can see it. If that doesn't work, need to look for the SSID, AND see if you can find a setting that says something like broadcast SSID. You may have to hunt around a bit, but it should be in the wireless settings somewhere. If you change either of those, save the changes then have the phone scan and see if it shows up.
I'm not being too specific about where to find these things because web interfaces change a bit, and each brand has their own hiding places.
If you can't figure out the password to get in, you should be able to reset the router to factory defaults, should be one of those "poke something in here" holes on the router case itself in back...will change the SSID to NETGEAR and admin pass probably to "password"
You might want to update the routers firmware. With netgears you have to go to the website and dl the latest update and save it somewhere on your pc/laptop. Then on the left hand side of the routers page it will say update firwire. Click on that and its an option to browse to were you saved the firmware file to. When you find it just click it and let it do its thing. Then you will have to reset the router by pressing the black pin size button found on the back of the router. Then log back into the routers web page and check to make sure the firmware update took and matches the update you downloaded. Remember never let the router update itself always do it manually. Also never update the firmware while being on wireless always plug in via cat5/cat6. Also its a setting in the routers web page to save your current settings so after you update the firmware you wont have to resetup all of your settings. Just tell the router were to look for your setting file you saved and apply it.

So youtube always plays videos fine, but after a video and I go back to the list and pick another video I get this screen (see screenshot) where it says to check my network connection and I have to click retry 1-3 times before it loads the video.
This happens ALL the time. Like 30%-60% of the time I go to click a video. My droid turbo has no problem at all though on the same Wifi network at home sitting on the same couch, about 15-20 feet from a brand new wifi router.
Any ideas what I can do to fix this?
Interestingly my nexus 5 was doing this too... even after a factory reset. (also had lots of trouble with loosing sync with chromcast when casting and/or taking like 30 seconds to load the youtube interface when I turn the phone screen back on when chromecasing something to rewind some or something) I thought it was just cause my nexus 5 was old. But now that I have a brand new nexus 6 doing the same thing (and a droid turbo that doesnt) it feels like it is a nexus issue... which is crazy right? My pure google nexus phones are the ones that have trouble with youtube and chromecasting?!?
I'm curious... could there be some setting where it is not maintaining the wifi connection all the time to save battery or something? So it has to reconnect. If that were the case I would prefer to not save battery and always stay connected to the network.

Check in settings>WiFi>advanced
Be sure scanning always available is ticked to on and same for WiFi on while sleeping.

Thanks! So it turns out those were already set. So I guess that is not my problem. Any other ideas why I have nearly constant problems?

I'm not sure. I have an issue that's similar that I've been trying to figure out myself. For me, it's with Netflix and Hulu. I start a movie or show, lock my phone and it disconnects from my chromecast. This, I've narrowed down to only happening while I have Chromecast and my nexus set up on my 5g WiFi. If I reconfigure for 2.4g, it stays connected. ???
Oh wow... if changing to 2.4g might solve I would happily do that. 2.4g can still get at least 10 megabits right? B and G are 2.4ghz right? I will try limiting my wifi router to those right now.

Give it a shot, short term results, for me, have been positive. Easy enough to switch back too.

The "age" of the wifi ap has no bearing on the QUALITY of the wifi ap software. The vast majority of wifi ap's are CRAP. Sometimes bad hardware. ALL "off the shelf" wifi ap's have bad software.
I thought it was just cause my nexus 5 was old.

Its a phone, not a raw chicken. Age has nothing to do with it.

This sounds a LOT like a wifi problem. If you don't mind spending a few bucks, I *can* suggest something for you to try that will probably make the problem go away;
BUY A NEW ROUTER.
But not just any router, you specifically need to pick up a TP-Link with a Qualcomm chipset, that is supported by OpenWRT. TP-Link, yes, is a "cheap" chinese router maker. This is OK though, since they actually use good hardware, which is what matters, and they are actually HELPFUL when it comes to using their hardware for open source software, like OpenWRT.
You can pick up a WDR3600 ($60), WDR4300 ($70), ArcherC5 or ArcherC7 ($130) (making sure it is HW ver.2).
Installing OpenWRT on it is pretty much trivial; you download the openwrt factory image for it, then you plug your network card into the new router (at this point no wan connection), go to its web config interface, find the "firmware update" screen, select the openwrt image, and tell it to do its thing. It will reboot with openwrt when finished. Then you just go through the openwrt web config interface and set everything up the way you need it.
This will either fix it, or you have a bad broadband connection. Most likely fix it.

Thanks! Just to be clear... my droid turbo works just fine with my wifi. This is what lead me to believe this issue is with the nexus and not my wifi router. With that in mind do you still think my best bet is a new router?

No, don't spend money until you're sure the router is the issue. Try some of the fixes here:
http://mobile.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-t...llipop-solve-wi-fi-problems-on-nexus-devices/
Start simple and work towards singling out the problem. I know that having the right channels on your WiFi network is a huge problem.

I received a new app/update from play store today that has resolved my 5g connectivity issues that I was having with Netflix and Hulu.
Hopefully this will solve everyone's issues as well.

I went ahead and got a c7v2 just to make sure I have good wifi. What openwrt image should I use. I looked at the hardware table (http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start#tp-link) and saw I want ar71xx... but do I want factory or sysupgrade?
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-archer-c7-v2-squashfs-factory.bin
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-archer-c7-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
And do I need any packages?
Thanks!
